See, things continue to degrade. Like in most comics. Bruce gets meaner, more unhinged, more paranoid. Alienates his family, one after another, with his bullshit. Tim holding on because he started by trying to fix this Fuck Up and he's GOING to finish the job.

It gets to a point where he's realized the are in a Bad Timeline. Good people disappearing or dropping like flies, and the Justice Lords(evil Justice League) just a breathe away from happening.

He realizes? He COULD have fixed this. Yeah. Bruce WAS fixable. But TIM was too young and inexperienced to be able to truely help, during the time period when it would have made a difference. It's too late now.

Well, shit.

So he steals a Time Travel device, one way, from the Watchtower and goes to ground. Predictably, without him? It all finally goes to shit. But he really was only delaying the inevitable.

He studies what he needs to do.

Figures out how to Handle Bruce(tm). And? Realizes? That Bruce was always the most stable and reasonable... when "in a relationship". But... Tim ALSO knows EXACTLY how each of those relationships ENDED.

In trainwrecks. That left Bruce WORSE then before.

He needs somebody that... won't...

Huh.

He considers the logistics. After all, he's not above taking one for the team.

Bruce needs SOMEONE to obsess over. Get his "companionship needs" from. Take on excessively researched dates and buy bizarrely specific gifts for. And it can't be someone who contradicts The Mission, like Talia or Selina. Harvey or Ghost Maker.

He can do that.

So, acting before the now corrupted Justice whatever-they-call-themselves find him, he picks up the device and uses it. Time to erase this time line. Sorry, everyone.

He is short, perky, and freshly Robin again.

How Loki's big finale reveal failed Marvel fans | Digital Spy

Loki finale spoilers follow.

Marvel used to have a major villain problem. Throughout Phases One and Two, Earth's Mightiest Heroes fought cookie-cutter bad guys who just wanted to get rich or take over the world. Loki and Bucky were the only exceptions to this because of their personal connections to Thor and Cap.

Phase Three began to build on this idea with fan favourites like Ragnarok's Hela and Black Panther’s Erik Killmonger. Both of them committed terrible acts, sure, but their plights were also understandable to some degree, and even relatable.

With the advent of Marvel TV on Disney+, Phase Four has developed this approach even further by putting anti-heroes front and centre in each of their own shows. Even Wanda, a full-fledged Avenger, is forced to reckon with her own morality in light of what she did to Westview. And that's been integral to the success of these shows, which each unpack what it means to be a hero in ways that no other Marvel project has ever attempted on screen.

But by centring the so-called "antagonists" like this, a different kind of villain problem has risen, like a seemingly dead baddie who thrusts one hand up from the grave just as the credits start to roll.

Since Loki's very first episode, there's been endless speculation on who the Big Bad might be. The mysterious Loki variant who showed up to kill TVA soldiers was perhaps the most likely candidate at first, but things took a surprising twist with that Lady Loki reveal (although given that betrayal at the end, Sylvie certainly did make a good case for her being the show's true Big Bad).

And then of course, other villainous candidates soon raised their heads. Everyone from Ravonna and the Time Keeepers to Alioth and President Loki all played a "bad" role to some degree. Loki's willingness to tackle the greyer areas of morality has been a strength of this show. But throughout the first five episodes, there was always this idea that someone else, someone "bigger" was waiting in the wings, controlling the TVA from a distance.

The penultimate episode leaned heavily into this idea with a final shot that practically begged fans to speculate about who could be hiding away in that castle beyond time. And then the finale arrived with the big reveal of He Who Remains, "a ruler" and "a conqueror" who also refers to himself as a "jerk" of sorts.

If you're not a fan of weighty exposition, you might consider him to be a jerk as well. Jonathan Majors does everything he can to sell these scenes, but when you break it all down, the vast majority of this final episode was dedicated to explaining an entirely new character whose arrival made little or no sense to casual fans watching back home.

On the flip side of that, He Who Remains was always the number one suspect for comic book readers who know their history. Kang, as this character is called in the source material, has been hinted at throughout the series, and Marvel even announced Jonathan's casting in the role months before Loki even started.

For some, Kang was the obvious choice for this reveal, which makes it a bit less exciting because it's so predictable. And then for others, it was the complete opposite problem. If you don't read the source material, then Kang's arrival came completely out of nowhere because his character wasn't even mentioned prior to the finale. Without comic book knowledge of Kang's identity, this just doesn't work as a satisfying end.

And even if you do know exactly who Majors is playing, what is there to actually gain from a random character showing up like this last minute? Loki has no emotional attachment to Kang beyond his manipulation of the TVA, and as a result of this, there's no closure. Thematically, another Loki variant would have made for a far more satisfying villain, one who forces "our" Loki to confront himself and his notions of what it means to be good.

Logistically, Kang's debut here isn't ideal either given that it required hefty amounts of exposition which slowed the finale to a crawl. While it was refreshing to see Loki avoid the usual CGI spectacle that often plagues the end of these stories, Marvel's incessant need to focus on set-up dragged things down in a different way here, forcing Kang in at the expense of the story that's currently being told.

It's thrilling to think about how this new multiverse will impact the MCU moving forward. The possibilities are literally endless, and we tried our best to outline some of the biggest ramifications to this big reveal right here. But what about the here and now? What about Loki's arc in this season and what about the viewers who couldn't care less about the wider MCU?

The ways in which this franchise connects everything together (much like the comics it's based on) is easily one of Marvel's biggest strengths, to the point where rival studios have desperately tried to replicate this format. But when vital plot points are introduced purely as a nod and a wink to fans who constantly look forward to what lies ahead, then this connectivity also becomes one of the studio's biggest weaknesses.

For decades, comic book giants like Marvel and DC have rebooted themselves and wiped the slate clean over and over again because they eventually become too inaccessible, weighed down by the sheer volume of backstory that newbies are forced to wade through. Marvel Studios has managed to circumvent this problem for the most part due to its widespread popularity, but sooner or later, people who don't have time to watch every single movie and show will start to resent stories like this that don't end to at least some degree.

Clearly, what was once a villain problem has become symptomatic of a much larger issue. But the essence is still the same. Characterisation is still being overlooked just to move the story along in whatever way Marvel sees fit.

And if this fixation on setting up the next project continues to take precedence over character and story, then shows like Loki run the risk of existing solely to continue one ongoing saga, like a snake eating itself in an endless loop.

Of course, fan expectation does play a role in this too, but when Kang said "We're all villains here," it's hard not to think that he might be referring to something far bigger and even more powerful than himself.

jk, i'm not actually asking. ramble below, not edited for clarity. the following is completely unclear and i will not fix it:

i've been thinking about how part of the reason i'm so chill about caryl is bc growing up as a queer woc 99% of my main ships were like, never gonna fucking happen bc they literally couldn't. it was like, "omg, they gazed at each other from across the room, let's analyze the homosexual subtext of this one scene for the next fifty years, that's not necessarily hyperbole." i've watched all my ships fuck other ppl/have other love interests, and i knew that my thing was never gonna be canon, so to see like, one thing being like, "one half of my ship fucked another person several years ago while pining for the other half of my ship," i'm like...#nice, bc that can and likely will be used as a plot point to get them together later on, whereas in other situations i've been in i just kinda had to deal with it. so my impulse when i see ppl losing their shit is to be like

and to be slightly annoyed, tbh, bc the ship is still on track to be canon, and it's like, literally two white heterosexuals, they're prime candidates for juicy angsty pining that actually gets a resolution.

but!

that being said, i recognize that that attitude isn't necessarily fair. for one thing, i'm not the only queer woc (or some variation thereof) in this fandom, and some ppl's impulse might be exasperation instead, bc like, "wtf, even my mayohet ship has dumb fucking drama," and that's valid as hell, and i get it.

and also, i get that, even if you didn't grow up shipping impossible ships (or mulder/scully, bc that's a brand of bullshit all its own), this has been a suuuuper drawn out process where sometimes it feels like they're legit sprinkling crumbs to keep you hooked, just to play you again, and when you are invested in something, like /rly/ invested, especially if it's a form of escapism or hyperfixation or whatever, that can be e x h a u s t i n g. and i get that. i truly do, and while i make a lot of snide comments about the fandom being bonkers, i do get where the bulk of you are coming from (unless you're one of those ppl who hate on actors and esp actresses for just doing their jobs, and attack them on social media, in which case i am very much judging you and you need to get your life together).

i also realize that in the scheme of things i'm still a newbie. i've been here, what, twoish/threeish years, whereas some of you have been here since the beginning, so i'm not as worn out as y'all. but i also think that gives me a bit of objectivity that some of y'all have (understandably) lost.

my positivity is not meant as a sleight against those of you who are feeling negative, but is more of a semi-objective viewpoint (i say semi, bc lbr, i'm invested af in this, so i definitely have bias), and to me the threads of the storyline they're crafting seem sort of obvious.

like, let's look at it, yeah? they have one season left of this show that has been on for over a decade. they need to cater to everyone to give them a satisfying ending, while still hanging on to carylers bc of the spin-off. darylrreah seems like a very calculated move, bc it gives them both something to make abcers happy, while also creating tension and suspense and pining for carylers (i think they might underestimate just how fed up some carylers are tbh, and are banking on us to hang on for one last ride, which, honestly? if they play it right will probably work.)

if they end up doing a dumb love triangle thing, which, without seeing the episode and gauging the subtext i can't confidently say if i think they will or won't, it will ultimately end in our favor. it has to, bc leah isn't going to third wheel them on the bike in the spin-off. we can say with good authority that whatever that relationship ends up being (again, idk if they'll drag it out or not) it will be temporary. which leaves caryl open to ride off into the sunset and then bone down in every state in the united states and in puerto rico for good measure.

it's a lot of cheap drama, but i really and truly do not think it's anything to worry about, and i still really and truly trust kang to not make it out of character. ik ppl still don't agree with me on that point, and i'm not gonna argue, but to me it really does make perfect sense.

and i also predict that they are gonna play it up hardcore in the promotional shit and talking dead, but when that happens, remember it's bc it gets attention. regardless of where the story is ultimately going, relationship drama gets attention, which gets viewers, which gets amc and twd producers nice and comfy with full pockets

idk. to sum up ig i just wanted to clarify that i don't mean any harm with my relentless positivity. my history in fandom has just made this seem like nothing in comparison, bc while ppl are freaking out, i'm like, "oh damn, they're actually gonna get together by the end of this, aren't they? i didn't know that could happen!" and that makes me excited instead of upset

(if you want proof that i'm good at reading writers'/producers' intentions, consider that i watched like, 8 seasons of supernatural before giving up, and said to myself, "i think they're gonna make destiel canon, but not until the very last second bc they are rly into catering to their fans but also have to consider their dumb fanboy audience so they can't do anything crazy overtly gay," and guess who hit the nail on the fucking head on that one)

Anyway I did finish my TBR so...

1 -The Vampire Armand (The Vampire Chronicles 5) by Anne Rice

🌟🌟🌟

Sooo, this one was my least favorite the 1st time I read this series and I hoped to like it more since I wasn't finding Armand as annoying in the first 4 books but gosh I really feel Anne Rice doesn't have much love for characters that are not Lestat, cuz I feel Armand could have been intresting but the book lacks the passion and wit Anne adds everytime she writes Lestat so yeah it was pretty meh. I love the cover tho.

2.-Dead and Alive (Prodigal Son #3) - Dean R. Koontz

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I was plesantly surprised. I hadn't very high expectatives for this one cuz even though I enjoyed book 2 I thought the pacing was waaaaay too slow, the plot wasn't advancing much. But this one was super cool, it picked up inconcluse storylines from the 1st book and that CLIFFHANGER!!!! The romance between the detectives was meh, like I wish I had liked them both more but the Erikas have my heart and I want to see more of Deucalion.

3.- Wild Cards I - George R. R Martin

🌟🌟

I was so disappointed. Ok so the concept is pretty cool. Like an alien virus is set loose and it causes some people to have amazing superpowers and other people gets terrible mutations, What's not to like??? But oh my fucking god. The mysogyny of this book. I can usually read books with mysogyny like I enjoy classics like 1984 despite the rampant way in which the protagonist hates woman. I couldn't handle it here. The female characters have less dimension than a sheet of paper and they depend entirely on the male characters it ruined the whole thing for me, and the writing was mediocre at times (I mean I know this was written by multiple authors but at points the quality of the writing droped like super hard) I am not picking the next one.

4.-My Sister the Serial Killer - Oyinkan Braithwaite

🌟🌟🌟🌟

I just love horror stories where a pretty girl is the killer. Like they are so enjoyable. And this particular story is so good because we have this 2 sisters, they are very different, one is like the epítome of beauty and the other is an average woman. The pretty one literally can do no wrong in everyones eyes and that’s just fine cuz she just so happens to kill her boyfriends. Her sister who is a nurse helps her clean up and get rid of the bodies because at first she believes they were abusive towards her sister but then she starts to get suspicious and things are super cool and intresting. I feel it could have gone deeper with some stuff but it was a great and quick read.

5.- Moloka'i - Alan Brenett

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I cried so much. This book is about Rachel, a girl diagnosed with leprosy at 7 years old during the 1890's and is sent away to live at the leprosarium in Moloka'i, Hawaii. We follow Rachel as she makes friends and family and loses them all over again to the sickness as she grows older. This book was so beautiful and pretty diverse (I loved Leilani I had never seen trans representation in a 19th century book) full of history and humanity. An amazing read I fully recommend it.

6.- New Suns: Original speculative fiction by people of color - Nisi Shawl.

I Loved it. One of my main problems with anthologies is that inevitably I find some stories better than other but that was not the case here, every story had an intresting premise and amazing writing (my fave was maybe the one with the lesbian mermaid or the one were a woman raised the death to get rid of colonizers) like I need to read more from all these authors ASAP.

7.- Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevski

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I love me some good classic. This one is really amazing , I love how much we get into Raskolinov's psyche and the things that lead him to comit the crime and the effect it has on him once he does. And all this conversation about morality and if it's ever valid to commit a crime even if it's for the "greater good" and all that good stuff about how people trapped in poverty are more likely to fall down the rabbit whole of prostitution and crime and yassssss it was good,

8.- A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I struggled like I should have known they would use the slang like in the movie (but I watched the movie in Spanish) so I was just vibing in the first few pages of the book barely understanding shit, except those words in other lenguages and then I started to pick it up and the book is so good??? Like Alex is awfull but the book actually makes a compeling argument about free will and the concept of choosing between good or evil. In general terms the movie is super accurate tho and yeah I really enjoyed this read.

9.- The Winter of the Witch (Winternight #3) - Katherine Arden

I LOVED it. This book absolutely messed me up. Like I suffered a lot for my girl Vasya. And then all the stuff with the Bear and Morozco and the war, ahhhhh it was a LOT, but the ending was pretty satisfying, I cried tons and I am hoping we get another saga maybe following Marya this time????? I will just read anything Katherine Arden writes tbh.

10.-Lifestyles of Gods and Monsters - Emily Roberson

🌟🌟🌟

It was ok??? I wished it had been more about the sisters together as opposed to make Ariadne "not like the other girls" I am sick of that trope, and the "beautiful but doesn't know it" and less about the romance. Like the premise of retelling this greek myth as a reality show actually picked my interest but the execution wasn't that great it had lots of clichés I hate and mentioned before, what I kinda liked was that even though Ariadne had a romance she decides to start over by herself when things kinda fall apart and she is maybe open to dating another dude at the end, which honestly was a relief for me cuz I feel a lot of time YA pushes this idea that your first love is the only love you'll ever feel and that’s dumb .

11.-The Glass Menagerie - Tennessee Williams

I really love this play, well Tennessee Williams plays in general, and aire felt like re reading this one. I love Laura so much and it was a pleasure to read this again.

12.-In the Miso soup - Ryu Murakami

🌟🌟🌟

This is a very gorey book. Lots of graphic murders and violence, mentions of the sex trade in Japan. This was a very intresting read, lots of insight into the japanese society and how this very cliché image people have of it is completely wrong. Again sex trade is heavily discused as our protagonist makes a living out of taking foreigners to experience the sex clubs in Tokyo he meets this sketchy american guy who hires him, our protagonist has a feeling he might be a murderer and it goes from there. I really enjoyed it a lot and might consider reading another book by Ryu Murakami.

13.- The Downstairs Girl - Stacey Lee

It was amazing to read about an asian girl in the post-civil war era, and how this minority kind of lived in a limbo cuz white people didn't think much about them when making up all this crap ass rules about where PoC where supposed to live in or sit. And our protagonist Jo, is really a charming girl with a lot of opinions and so passionate I loved her so much. It was a bit cheesy at times, and I saw the book's big reveal coming but still it was a pretty good read.

14.-En el bosque bajo los cerezos en flor - Ango Sakaguchi

Me gustaron mucho las historias, todas realmente te meten a una atmósfera japonesa: las imágenes como las flores de cerezo, los kimonos, templos, budas. Y las mezclan con un terror por lo desconocido y lo no visto que encaja tan bien en cada una de las historias. Realmente lo disfrute muchísimo y me gustaría leer más trabajos de este autor.

1/3 Wtf is this final? Chuck was a lazy ass and a dickhead who left psychotic angels with some stupid prophecy about Michael and Lucifer fighting, but he was never evil! He locked Lucifer in the cage because MoC corrupted him and he was dangerous to humans. He locked leviathans for the same reasons. And now tptb want me to believe he's suddenly evil? He's not lawful good, but he's not evil either. Irresponsible, yes, but not evil, for fuck sake! This twist doesn't make any sense.

2/3 People are praising it for being surprising, but that’s the point, it’s too suprising! Fans don’t have to predict the plot twist for it to be good, but the clues has to be there, so when people rewatch the season they can find them and feel silly for not noticing them faster. What was clues for Chuck being evil? I mean, I’m sure someone noticed something painted on the wall in some shots or a person dressed like Chuck in the other

3/3 but those are not clues, they’re supposed to be easy to notice in the whole context or without it, and by everyone, not only by delusional metas who see Destiel in a pebble kicked by Dean while walking toward Cas! And what even now? How are we supposed to be afraid of God, when we already know Amara is more powerful? And she’s still good? I mean, she should be. God, I’m so angry at this stupid show! Good thing I still have a good season final, like Gotham one, or good show like B99.

Hi Joanna, fair warning this got REALLY long, sorry (cringe), it goes under the cut for that reason: 

It feels terribly cheap right? Also, what I never really liked about spn is that they HAVE to have a cliffhanger or a twist in every season finale to shock audiences and bait them to keep coming. A story doesn’t always need a twist at the end, more so if it’s well written, imagine every tv show/movie having a twist ending. It would be boring af, that’s what happened to M. Night Shyamalan for example. We all loved 6th Sense, but he kept coming back with movies that only relied on the “twist” without concentrating on the whole story first and foremost and people got tired of his tricks. And that’s exactly what is happening with spn, although on another level of production of course. It’s a show that only can deliver shock, angst, death and twist! Without the care of preparing the story for those things. It just doesn’t work imo.

But fandom is used to that, and the majority keep coming back for more of the same old same old. Even if it just a cheap trick, or even, like in this case, doesn’t make sense AT ALL. Spn fandom it’s just loyal to a fault, and also the bait from tptb is extreme, they are always promising something that they are never going to deliver, it’s the best example of the carrot at the end of the stick. 

For some tv shows/movies you have to apply the suspension of disbelief for them to be enjoyable. I apply it to tons of superheroes movies for example, because if I’m going to be incredible analytical about them, well, nothing is going to make sense and just why bother right? In the case of spn we have to apply the same method all the time, BUT, some things just can’t be ignored. Why? Well because even the easiest plots to follow don’t make sense. You have to have a base storyline to follow, a central arc that in the end, makes sense and leaves you with a sort of satisfied feeling. If even the central arc, the most important storylines, or even the myths of the show don’t make sense from one season to another, we lost really important parts of the plot along the way. And it starts to feel cheap and just plain WRONG. That’s what happened to spn, imo.

I just watched a video of people talking about the whole MCU and how we arrived to Endgame (no worries not going to talk about any spoilers), and it’s really easy, even for the people that are not that much into the MCU, to see how well crafted the whole journey was. It’s not an easy task of course, and there are mistakes along the way, but you really can see the care for the core story and how they departed from point a, to arrive to point z, and it feels really well done. What I mean is: it CAN be done. Not only by MCU, GOT also is doing this, again with mistakes, but you can feel that they were paying attention, in some cases, even to minimal details. 

Back to spn, it’s painful to see how the show doesn’t pay attention to what came before, and how much they just don’t care. And it’s utterly obvious with this finale. Yeah it’s surprising, yeah most of the people didn’t see it coming, yeah it’s another shocking reveal… BUT where does it leave the central storylines and myths? Is it worth it in the end, to have a “twist” that erases and/or changes not only last season, but YEARS of story telling? My bet is on NO. But I’m in the minority here. I bet metas are going to write tons of posts saying how DUMB  people that didn’t see this coming are. How they only know how to read the narrative, and the people that complain about spn is just stupid and don’t even understand the basics of story telling. Whatever they can keep writing their lies trying to convince themselves that destiel (the pebble “subtext” made me laugh tons ^^) still exists and how amazing Dabb’s era is. 

But the truth is that it just.doesn’t.make.sense. I already said it in one of my many venting in the tags: God being this writer that has manipulated the bros (and Cas) storyline since forever, doesn’t make sense! It erases years of plot and core arcs and myths… also for the trope of Evil All Along you have to give your audience some clues, because the real joy is to go back and to see all the little hints that you missed along the way. What hints spn gave us for this forced twist to pay off?. Not one imo. Yes, like you said, Chuck is a douche, he’s not a good God, not a good parent, not a good anything… but the Big Bad Villain? Of ALL THE STORY ALL THIS TIME? Can’t see it sorry, it feels forced, it feels cheap, it feels poorly constructed. And it has been done before too with Metatron! I mean…it’s cheap AND recycled. 

Like I said in tags too, it also feels like All Just a Dream trope, one of the worst things you can do to your audience, because everything that you thought was real, now suddenly changes because the writers need a sudden surprising twist (see also Writer on Board). It’s an utter mess, a low way to trick audiences, but coming from that writers’ room I shouldn’t be surprised at all. 

This doesn’t bode well for season 15 imo, God being this super villain, how long is it going to last? Because the final season should be about wrapping up personal story lines, not about another incredible hard to beat big bad, that in the end is killed/vanished by one of the bros being all powerful a la Dragon Ball. 

Horrible writing, horrible treatment of the characters (of ALL of them not only Cas, what they did to Mary is horrible too), cheesy self insert, plots that make no sense, that’s what spn is going out with. It’s terrible sad that a show with so much potential is entering its final season on such a low note. 

Sorry it got long af as usual, or more than usual really. But can’t shut up about this horrible mess.

Ps: was going to tag this but it got too long. Somebody just msg me saying that Chuck was never presented as s whole good pure God. And I agree. But he was never presented as a whole evil God either. Capricious? yes. Lazy? yes, likes to play with people? Yes (the same could be said about Gabriel for example, was he evil? I don’t think so, the show was always sympathetic towards him). But to make him the BIG BAD all of a sudden? Nah, the show never hinted at him being a character that could open the gates of hell just to have his way. Metas can write tons of essays about occultism, religion and God in western culture, Sorry not buying. Metas can also have all the readings they want, it’s sad that they can’t get down of their high horses to start respecting other points of view…

Bee

A bee would be extremely boring, but I had this bee idea as I was going to bed and had it in my head by the time I woke up

It went:

1. Bee's don't change their opinions, really. When given an option to go to a specific lecture or another, and they change based on their opinions. They choose based on some metric (not just "which one seems cooler?")

2. Their opinions are not formed from their personal experience – they just absorb the information they can from experiences of other bees and try to predict what will be "good" to them. So, for instance, when they want to go to a seminar about "diseased human cells," they're not going to be influenced by their personal experiences of sick humans, they'll try to figure out whether "diseased human cells" are a good deal (or at least what the other bees will make of this info.)

3. All bees have the same opinion at any time, though they may change it and pass it on to others. If all the bees say something is bad (e.g. "diseased human cells"), they won't go out and try to find something good, they'll just try to make more bees agree with them – because anything they believe is just temporary, and they want the opinion to become a permanent norm. So there's a feedback loop: as more and more bees agree with this norm, it becomes less and less important for individual bees to "prove" it, so the norm becomes almost inevitable

4. There is a thing bees can do that makes people want to go and listen to them! I think? It has something to do with the physical sensations they're causing when they dance, but whatever. They are a source of entertainment to people while they're listening, and bees seem to be able to tap into this specifically. When the bee dance becomes too exciting, the bees all calm down immediately and stop dancing – but this doesn't do anything to stop all the people who have come to watch the dance.

5. Bee dances make people feel emotions (excitement), and they're not just "doing it for the lulz." It's not just a trick they can do without meaning it; it seems like they want to manipulate people into feeling a certain way. And they're always doing it.

6. There are two ways people can get a bee dance to themselves – by being in the right place at the right time (e.g. going to a bee seminar), or by actively putting something into their ears (it's not just an insect thing). In the latter case, people get into an altered state of consciousness, and it takes a long time to come out of it. As of now, this has only been done by scientists, and it seems to make you more suggestible. I'd like to say I think the ultimate goal of this is to make the listener agree with the speaker, but that's probably too cynical and unpoetically satisfying.

7. All of this has something to do with why bees talk so much shit about "humanity" in their dance. And all of the bees involved with this – the ones that aren't just doing it for the lulz – seem to take its criticisms of humanity very seriously. And for some reason the ones that get the most people on board with this take the most things seriously, to the point of becoming something like a cult. The leader of the cult is the only bee that seems not to have any opinion on the matter.

8. The reason it started off with "diseased human cells" instead of, say, "money" is that bees learned that money only meant money (among other things) due to an ancient, now-extinct disease called "pennywise." This somehow corrupted the bees' sense of what "money" meant, and even if it didn't, they still wouldn't have used it.
