[ROUGH ENG TRANS] FUGOU KEIJI NOVEL: THE MILLIONAIRE DETECTIVE’S DECOY (Part 10.1)

Hi! I’m back~ I’m not yet done translating half of part 10 because I have a backlog of reports since I was on medical leave for a week. Anyway, for this one, I might thought that you, dear readers, might get confused. The author writes the story as if it is scene-by-scene in a movie. I have put dividers on them so that you can easily distinguish. Sorry I’m bad at explaining. This is 1/4 on the last Part for chapter 1.

"Eh?" Suzue step to Suda's side a closer, letting him inhale a scent of lavender in her. Suda is a little confused.

"Oh. As a woman, I'm sorry for inviting you."

"No, that's not it. But I'm not good at social dance." Suda is embarrassed at himself for not saying it clearly.

"It's okay. There are quite a few guys here who are also bad at dancing, oh, is it not okay for me to be your partner?"

"No, it's not you." Suda was a little surprised when Suzue said it like he's mean, he was slightly taken aback.

“That’s unexpected. Well then, let’s just walk outside.” If it walking is only like dancing, but then, Suda already had a couple of drinks.

“Yes, Of course, that would be fine. But that would not be enough.”

Hayakawa put his hand on Suzue’s soft waist. He couldn’t afford to enjoy the feeling of his hand, his body stiffened and he started dancing awkwardly. Even so, the string orchestra just started playing old-fashioned two-step dance music for older people, so he was lucky that it doesn’t look too awkward.

Hayakawa and Suzue dance and while looking at Suzue’s beautiful face, Hayakawa asked, “Where do you live?” He’s always been wondering if she is commuting to or living in the mansion.

“I don’t have my own house. I live here in the mansion.”

“Oh, is that so.”

“Yes, they treat me like I’m an adopted daughter.”

“So with Kambe you are?”

Suzue responds to Hayakawa who hesitates to complete his question if she will get married, “It’s like we are siblings.”

“Ah,” Because of his relief, Hayakawa has lost his attention and stumbled, “I’m sorry”

(TL: I might have used “relief” but the author used the term 安心感 (anshinkan) which is literally “sense of security”/”feeling of having peace of mind”)

“No, it’s totally fine.”

“I don’t dance much these days,” said Sakamoto. Even when he has a little confidence in his dancing, his steps seems off because he is slightly drunk and also, because his partner is a beauty. “You are so beautiful.” Sakamoto said, trying to get back on his feet.

She thought she is already familiar to everyone and already get used to it, Suzue’s earlobes turned red.

Hey, hey, Sakamoto thought. Isn’t that too naïve? If that’s the case, then it’s easy to take her heart away. Of course, to win her over it would be difficult. Marriage. Marrying this woman. Adopted daughter. Like that adopted daughter of this household. Even so.

Sakamoto’s chest swelled up with ambition.

“Yes, it is.” Because of Suzue’s words, Hatano seems to have an electric shock when he felt the girl’s body against him.

“Shall we go to the garden?”

“Sure.” Happiness filled Hatano’s chest. It was his first time to talk with a beautiful girl alone.

From the terrace, the two went to the garden.

“I love you. Seriously, I love you.”

Surprise by Suzue who said such words like “I love you”, Hatano tried to convey his feelings but he couldn’t say it well.

“I feel the same,” while mumbling, Suda stole a glance at Suzue’s expression. Suzue’s face illuminated by the garden light is a stunning beauty. Even just being able to talk to this girl, it was worthwhile and Suda is intoxicated by the feeling of happiness.

“Can we sit on the bench?”

“Yes,” Suda nodded obediently and sat down with Suzue on the bench.

“It’s my birthday on the 4th next month.”

“Oh,” Hayakawa stared at Suzue.

While gazing, he was thinking. This girl seems to like me. It must be because it is a great favor to leave a lot of other people and talk to me like this. Just now, I think she loves my manliness. If I could make this girl mine, then I would.

“Daisuke’s father, Mr. Kikoemon told me I could have my birthday party here at the mansion.” Suzue is being a bit bashful towards Hayakawa. “I wonder if you can come. I would be very happy.”
