jess mariano and rory gilmore are literally the SAME people at their core, just in opposite fonts. they MIRROR each other and are each other's TWIN FLAMES. that's exactly why they understand each other better than everyone else (asp herself said so). both are raised by teen moms and have deadbeat dads. yet, one is nurtured with love and care with a mom like lorelai. and the other is abandoned & ignored by a flaky mom like liz. both develop an immense love for reading regardless of whether it became kind of a coping mechanism. both exceed normal expectations of intelligence required for their age. hence, one goes above and beyond, strives for perfection with it, and craves validation while the other could not care less what people think and says "fuck it. rules don't matter anymore for me. i know stuff". one becomes stars hollow's princess, held onto a pedestal by everyone around her. the other becomes stars hollow's pariah, hated by every person he meets. both are under intense scrutiny by people where one is held to exceptionally high standards and the other is seen as "good for nothing". both of them break out of those respective moulds as soon as they become young adults. and both play a pivotal role in helping each other break out of those moulds and still be true to their inner selfs. I COULD WRITE AN ENTIRE TEN-PAGE ESSAY ON THE PARALLELS BETWEEN THEM....I REALLY COULD!

The interesting thing is that Jess keeps insisting that "it's not about him" ("him" being Logan) during his big "Why did you drop out of Yale?" speech, and I do believe him! Logan may have pissed him off, but what he's really upset about is that Rory isn't acting like herself and she knows it and he wants to know why. However... nevertheless, he does include "you going out with this jerk? With the Porsche?" in his list of behaviors that are "not You." And the writers make it seem like Jess was functioning as the "voice of Truth" in the narrative during this scene, considering that this is what makes Rory see the light and ultimately AGREE that this "isn't her" and prompts her to return to school and her mother's arms. So my question is... Does Jess including dating Logan as a symptom of Rory's out-of-character behavior mean that the WRITERS also intended us to see dating Logan as a symptom of Rory's out-of-character behavior? What am I supposed to do with this? Along with "I thought everything was fixed." "Everything but him." I just... What were you trying to say here, huh? How are we supposed to take this?!

Okay something I just noticed on my billionth rewatch but like….
Jess makes a point to insist “this isn’t about him!…this is about you, Rory!” talking about what’s up with her & where she’s at and it’s the final catalyst for really thinking about it. Amd when she voices it to Logan like, I think I may not be happy with my choice, and he makes it about him. The “don’t blame me, you chose this…don’t you dare blame me.” And the thing is….she doesn’t. Because it’s not about him it’s about her! And Jess can see that but Logan can’t.

I just saw a tiktok video of someone saying that Logan was the reason Rory went back to Yale, that (direct quote) “she would sort some things out” and “he knew she would go back when she felt it was the right time”. Last, but not least, my favorite: “the speech could have come from him and she still would’ve come back, he just knew not to push her too much.”
…….My brother in Christ, did we watch the same show? This isn’t even a point of whose team you’re in, but about what actually happened and people’s skill on text interpretation.
Rory dropping out was a big deal. She studied years to get in a good college, to live a good life, we saw all her effort. The people that truly knew her were astounded by her choice. Luke offered to kidnap her, Paris went to talk to Lorelai, Jess was absolutely confused. She wasn’t giving it up, because she didn’t want it, she was doing it ‘cause she’s a people pleaser and her entire self-worth depends on people’s opinions of her. So when this thin-haired, bald spot, ugly, powerful journalist (who happens to be her bf’s dad) tells her she doesn’t ‘got it’, it crushes her. She spirals. Her decision wasn’t made on a clear head, it was insecurity induced.
To the last quote, I don’t even know what to say. ‘He just knew not to push her too much’, do you mean doing nothing at all?? ‘Cause pushing Rory to be a better person is not something I saw Logan doing. Now the speech part; the only speech I saw him give her was when she was upset about how her life was going and when she complained he made it about him and how his life was “so hard”, when she didn’t accuse him of anything, she was just venting to her boyfriend.

Okay, something for the Gilmore Girls fandom:
Sure, Logan could be technically Rory's best boyfriend, given that he's her college boyfriend and he was her longest relationship- comparatively to Dean and Jess.
But does being the boyfriend who you've dated for the longest time, met at a later date and your most (comparatively) stable relationship the endgame????
Absolutely NOT!!!!
The best relationships are the ones that are deeper, they have this idea that every day is going to be something new- they will love you as you grow each day and champion the best and accept the worst versions of you with grace. They will challenge you and you will have debates and fights maybe on a daily basis but not because they want to pick a fight, they won't pretend to agree or disagree with you and let it simmer till they use it to get back at you.
And so far, the only relationship that has shown snippets of it (and I say snippets) is Jess- be it in their relationship and their friendship, Jess is the only one who is able to be there for Rory in a way that neither Dean nor Logan manage to- and ironically, they are her longest relationships.
Was Jess the best boyfriend? NO! But did Rory love him deeply? Absolutely!!! And he loved her deeply!!!
Does Logan love Rory? Of course, but is love the only thing that is sustainable for a relationship? Compatibility, trust, honest communication, deeper levels of complexity, unbiased support where neither cohort is threatened by the other, are some of the few factors that determine a long lasting relationship, then eventually, a marriage.

but the fact that rory actually didn’t even mentioned him in that regard she just said she is wasting her life doing something very unlike her drinking and parting while jess at the age of 21 years old wrote a book and logan managed to turn this conversation about himself she never even. said his name. never accused him for taking her out she just express loudly her concern about where her life are going to and he’s already jumping off being mad and yeah maybe that’s rory’s choice going out and drinking but why does he have to turn it about him all the sudden? always with his “have a drink, ace” and “oh good he (jess) doing something” like the fact that 21 years old kid had managed to writing a book isn’t some impressive shit we need to discuss about and fine maybe logan doesn’t have a choice, maybe he is being pushed by that one door to that one destiny and maybe as we seen he doesn’t want that but him blaming rory over it and being all mean and rude like she didn’t even mentioned his name she didn’t even accused him for making her do all these things!! she literally said anything about him i hate how he managed to turn this conversation about him and dismissed rory’s feeling like that fucking logan

one of my favorite things about gilmore girls is seeing the development of rory/paris because they hated each other at first and then slowly became best friends and I love that so much!! now it's been years since I watched and idk if I'll like rogan in any way after years of not watching but I just can't see it lol literati will always be my otp and luke/lorelai and if rory had to end up with anyone besides jess it should've been paris just saying!!

When Rory anti's say "Rory has everything handed to her" She didn't have everything handed to her! She worked her ass off to get into Yale it wasn't just handed to her and her grandparents gave her a LOAN which she had to pay back! Emily gave Lorelai money for Chilton with strings attached they had to attend Friday night dinners which they did do which was Lorelai's equivalent of having to pay her back. Logan got kicked out of THREE private schools, and the ONLY reason Logan is at Yale is because of his daddy's money, he didn't work his ass off to get there like Rory did it literally was handed to him. Logan and Rory BOTH stole a yacht together and Rory faced punishment while Logan faced nothing. No Rory doesn't have everything handed to her, Logan does! This is another reason why when he throws it in her face about her privilege I can't take him seriously because no they don't have the same level of privilege at all!

I understand something now that I didn't when I wrote my Paul Anka fix-it. Rory loves Logan. Not like she loves Jess, but she loves him. She loves him in that 'best friend that you date because he's hot and being with him is easy and fun' kind of way. Jess is her soulmate, but she loves Logan in her own way too.

it’s actually insane to me the lengths people will go to defend logan huntzberger when he clearly doesn’t deserve it…saw a tiktok abt how logan treated jess horribly when he first met him by being a classist ass and just overall ridiculing him for absolutely no reason and half the comments were abt how. jess treated dean “the same way” when they were 17 like….first of all logan is like 22-23 here and he KNOWS better btw!! and jess and dean’s rivalry wasn’t one-sided btw. and i would say dean did much more antagonizing than jess did on that end as well. also they were literal teenagers lmfao that’s what teenagers do

Sorry to be a hater- look away if you must- but I just have to vent once again about how much I hate that stupid "Rory Gilmore learns about sexting to spice up her lagging long-distance relationship!" storyline in Season 7. 🙄 Like, FIRST OF ALL, I'm supposed to believe that Rory Gilmore, who was reading (and recommending!) Ginsberg at the age of 16, is somehow shocked and scandalized and uncomfortable with the idea of reading or writing about sex?? That whole babyish, fluttery, "Oh, I couldn't possibly!" personality transplant she undergoes in that season really throws me off! But ALSO, like... Rory and Logan have only been apart for like THREE EPISODES? By this point? And she's already feeling like their relationship is going to fall apart without sexual intimacy? Like, honey, the point I'm getting from this is not "long distance relationships are hard!" It's "this relationship seems to be based on nothing but sex." And if you're already running out of things to say because you're not in the same room anymore? Yikes. "But long distance relationships are hard!" Yeah! I KNOW. Want to know HOW I know? Because by the time we got married, my Husband and I did the math and figured out that from the beginning of our relationship to our wedding day we'd spent more time APART than TOGETHER. The longest stretch of time where we were on opposite sides of the earth and didn't see each other at all was ten months. And yes! It was hard! But we never felt like we were running out of things to SAY to each other or had no emotional intimacy! How am I supposed to think this Rory/Logan storyline is "romantic" when my own memories involve writing handwritten letters that were pages and pages long, and long emails on top of that? Sensual poetry that ached with so much longing that it made my breath catch in my throat when I read it? Do you know how it feels to talk on the phone for hours and hours until your arm gets tired from holding the phone up and you have to keep switching it from side to side because your ear is getting that horrible warm and sweaty feeling from the plastic being pressed against it for so long, and you STILL don't want to say goodbye because it's never enough? Anyway, I can't get into this storyline. It feels shallow and cheap and boring to me! Like, is this it? And maybe part of the reason my soul recoils from the idea of Rory ending up with Logan is that it's just so DISAPPOINTING! Like, that's it? That's the "great love" she gets? I love Rory and she has such a lively, eager mind! And it just makes me sad to think of her ending up with some guy she doesn't even have anything to talk about with after the thrill of sex has faded. 😕 Boring, boring, boring!

It kind of amuses me when shippers try to dress up scenes from the Truncheon episode of S6 Gilmore Girls as some super cute, sexy Rory/Logan episode. Honestly, this is common amongst all shippers, but...this is the episode where Rory is basically manipulated into taking Logan back, she undermines him at the paper and is still hostile, so he takes off with the LDB and she seizes the opportunity to drive four hours out of town, spend the evening at Jess's book event and again gush over how smart and accomplished he is, and make out with him before she stops herself. At least subconsciously, sex with Jess was on her mind that night...and even if it didn't go that far, she still not only cheated but put a considerable amount of effort into cheating. Not only that, but she feels completely justified in cheating and her main motivation in stopping is because she doesn't want to hurt Jess.
There are actually a ton of cute Logan/Rory moments over the years shippers could point to as a reason to support the ship. Why single out the episode where she was completely headed in the other direction? I don't get it.

Sorry to all my Logan lovers, but as someone who went to school with a bunch of Logans, I just can’t like him. He’s just white bread with champagne. The main thing about him that makes him who he is, is his money. You remove that, he’s very uninteresting. (Also, the whole yacht thing really pisses me off. If I had a daughter and I find out she got arrested with her boyfriend for trying to steal a yacht and he helped her, I’d make them break up. No way am I letting my daughter be around someone like that.)
I get that a lot of people like him because he’s charming and has a care-free nature. He’s only like that ‘cause he got nothing to worry about; like getting a job, paying bills, paying for college, making sure he graduates, you know stuff that normal people worry about daily. Again, that wouldn’t be possible without his money, which is the base of his entire character.

the thing is that s6 rory was soooo lost and for logan it was okay because that’s how he knows her but idk from anyone else who glance at her for 5 seconds can see how lost she is :// jess and paris did and cared for her 😭
god yeah thats just how he knows her.. bc even in s5 i mean rory’s depression from s4 kind of just… never goes away. i mean s4 ENDS w her breaking down on the steps of her home and crying her eyes out like i think people sort of. revert rory back to “normal” every season but even in s5 its very clear shes not happy with her life and in s6 ESPECIALLY YEAH… ANYONE ELSE CAN SEE SHE IS NOT DOING OKAY!!!!! one really funny thing abt that is when richard is asking logan about rory’s future and her plans and what she wants to do w her life and he immediately assumes he’s talking abt THEM getting married or something… like oh my god he really just. idk if its an inflated ego or just casual disregard for rory’s future and her plans but he really just. doesn’t know or understand rory enough to ever actually take care of her or be good for her. meanwhile jess and paris have known rory for such a long time and have seen her thoughts and plans and dreams enough to KNOW that she’s lost and not being herself and that she’s not okay. like asking to steal a yacht was about the biggest sign that there is something wrong with her and it went over his head completely. i’ve thought abt this before actually the fact that logan thinks rory just wants to steal a yacht for fun or something and how rory was actually so emotionally devastated in that episode and he just didn’t… see it.
