Also just over here intentionally going to watch for “steve/jonathan” material because when I looked through will/mike/el fic I stumbled onto the steve/nancy/jonathan tag and was shocked by how many fics there are for them. Honestly, I’ve always shipped Nancy with both of them, but I’ve never seen Steve/Jonathan, but I will be fine to be corrected.

For your sleepover!!
Hawkins high puts on a winter formal you wanna take eddie but scared he will just want to stay friends. Robin and Nancy talk you up to ask him to the dance. But what you don’t know is that Steve is talking Eddie up to ask you to the dance🥺🥺🥺
EMILY ALL YOUR IDEAS ARE GOLD I LOVE THEM (p.s. i had a lot of fun writing this one)
warnings: not proofread, kinda long for a blurb

Tumblr media
"why do i even have to go to winter formal anyway? i could just stay home. i like that idea. let's go with that plan," you said hopefully and got up to walk away. however, robin's arms around your waist tugged you back to your seat. so much for that plan.
"no, just no," she told you, resulting in your annoyed huff.
"i don't get why you can't just ask him," nancy shared, a thoughtful expression on her face. "the worst he could do is say no and he won't do that."
you looked at her incredulously. "i can't ask him because i'm not you. not everyone looks like you and has the innocent sweet charm you have. not everyone is fawning over me. not everyone can pull steve and jonathan. and yes, that is the worst thing. it is the absolute worst thing in the world. you don't realize how big this is. i..."
you trailed off to train your eyes on the floor and take a small break before you got too worked up. this was stupid. it was all so stupid.
"i've been in love with him since we were kids. i can't throw all that away. i'd rather go with him as friends than embarrass myself by asking him for more when he just wants to be friends and nothing more. i just can't risk it, okay?"
you looked back up at the girls, both of their faces full of pity but nancy's held some guilt in it as well. it made you feel awkward and want nothing more than to be somewhere else.
this time when you stood, neither of them made any moves to stop you and both watched you walk out of the empty classroom.
"i feel bad," nancy told robin who shrugged in response.
"it was worth a shot," she spoke, trying to retain some optimism. "let's just hope steve is having better luck with eddie."
currently, he was not.
"she's my best friend, steve," eddie said for the fifteenth time as if steve wasn't very aware of that fact.
"most couples are friends before they start dating, munson. you don't just fall straight in love. you like them before you love them and you won't ever know if she loves you if you don't try. do you really want to live never having tried to tell the person you love that you love them?"
"this is all so easy for you to say. you're fucking king steve," eddie shared before watching steve's shoulders deflate. he always forgot that he hated that nickname now that they were friends. "sorry."
"it's fine."
"it's not," eddie fought prior to getting back on track, "what i was trying to say was that you have girls falling at your feet everywhere you go. forgive me if i am not a hundred percent on board with how easy you are making this seem."
steve stepped forward, clasping his hand on eddie's shoulder to make sure he had his focus. "it is that easy, though. she loves you, man. anyone can see it."
steve tried to plead with eddie with his eyes, but eddie's expression changed from pure helplessness to slight suspicion.
"what do you know?" eddie inquired.
uh oh, steve thought as his eyes widened ever so slightly and his hand dropped from eddie's shoulder to scratch at the back of his neck.
"i- i don't know what you mean. i-"
"harrington." eddie's tone was one of warning.
"nothing, i know nothing."
eddie stepped up to steve, his eyes baring into steve's. "if you don't tell me whatever it is that you know, i'm telling henderson that it was you that broke his bard miniature, not tews."
"damn it, eddie," steve grunted as he ran his hand over his face. you were surely going to kill him if nancy or robin didn't beat you to it. "you can't say i told you, got it?" eddie's nod was so small, steve almost didn't see it. "she's in love with you, man. i was pretty sure because it was so obvious and then, a couple weeks ago, she drunkenly told me she was in love with me but she thought i was you. so, i asked her about it the next morning and she made me swear not to tell, but here i am telling you. anyway, she is absolutely in love with you and the winter formal would be the perfect time for y'all to get together if one of you would just ask the other. nancy and robin are trying to convince her to ask you right now."
steve had never felt so guilty in his life—not even when he broke dustin's bard and blamed it on tews—but in his head, he was making the right thing happen, so it didn't matter in the long run.
eddie's silence was starting to get on his nerves though.
"come on, man. say something. my ass is on the line here."
"she's in love with me?" eddie questioned in utter disbelief.
"so much it makes me sick."
"oh fuck, i- i gotta go."
"good luck," steve shouted eddie's way as the metalhead bolted out of the empty theater room.
when eddie found you, you were angrily switching out your books in your locker. you were nearly done when eddie ran over to you, but you didn't even notice him until he pulled your locker door back to look at you.
the action surprised you, causing a gasp to fall from your lips.
"jesus, eddie," you griped while grabbing your last book and shutting your locker door with an unintentional slam. "what do you want?"
if he wasn't on cloud nine with the news he just heard, your sour mood would've affected him.
your words must not have registered in eddie's head because he continued to stare at you like he was in some sort of weird daze.
"dude, are you high?" his eyes weren't glassy or red, but his pupils were blown.
you watched as he came to his senses and regained consciousness enough to speak.
"no, no," he answered, shaking his head, "but i have a question for you."
"okay, what is it?"
"i wanted to see if you wanted to go to this winter formal thing with me? like actually go with me?"
any other day, you would've been elated to hear that, but you couldn't fight the thought that nancy and robin were behind this. you wanted him to ask you because he wanted to, not because he was told to do it.
your frustration presented itself in the few tears that lined your eyes when you rolled them in annoyance.
"who put you up to this? nancy? robin? steve? someone else who thinks they know what's best for me?" you shook your head at it all. "god, i need this day to end."
"hey, no," eddie spoke softly in the way he always did when he was trying to calm you down. his hands came up to cup your cheeks, making sure your eyes were on him. "no one is making me do this. i just finally have the courage to quit being such a pussy and ask you out. we don't even have to go to the dance if you don't want to. we can do whatever, y/n, but i want to be with you. i don't want to spend the rest of my life regretting not knowing what could have been because i was scared of losing you."
you swallowed while your eyes bounced between his momentarily. "you really mean all that?"
a single tear fell from your eye, but it didn't get to travel far down your skin before eddie's thumb wiped it away. "every damn word."
a watery chuckle escaped you and a genuine smile spread on your lips. "yeah, i'll go with you."
"really?"
you nodded and surged forward to kiss his lips, pulling back to say, "you bet your ass, munson."

Older Eddie Munson x fem!reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Look at me pumping out two fics within like a day and a half. Be proud of me. I decided to try out the Older Eddie hype since I've seen these fics everywhere lately. I hope I did the whole trend justice. It's a little short, but I didn't want to write a huge fic and just wanted to get straight into the shit y'all wanna read anyway.
Side Note: I deleted this cause I wasn't super proud of it at first, but I'm reposting this because I feel like it definitely could've done better than it did. Not to be cocky or anything.
Credit to @patrick-stewart for the gif!
Warnings: SMUT 18+!! MINORS FUCK OFF! Porn with a little bit of plot. Not much plot in this. (kissing, dirty talk, sort of rough eddie, fingering, nipple play, public sex (club bathroom), dirty club dancing, unprotected p in v sex, doggy style rough fucking, loud reader, giving of hickeys.) Older Eddie Munson (early 30's), Younger reader (mid 20's), language. No use of Y/N. Strange guy tried to grind up against reader on the dance floor. I think that's it. As always, let me me know and I'll fix it!

______________________________________________________________
You were kind of a hermit. You didn’t like to go out much and parties just weren’t your scene. You obviously went out occasionally, but it was probably once a month if that. It’s not that you hated people, you were just focused on your college work and trying to keep up good grades. Your best friends Robin, Nancy, and Steve were avid party goers. They always tried to get you to go out with them, but being the youngest of the group and the only one still in school, there just wasn’t much free time to go out with them. Tonight was different though. It was the end of the semester and all grades were final so you could finally let loose a little. Your friends were taking you out to a concert. It was for a band you hadn’t heard of before, but they said it was an old friend they all had from high school.
“Girl, you look great, don’t even.” Nancy looked at you and smiled. You were wearing an outfit you usually didn’t. Most of your outfits consisted of jeans and sweatshirts, not short tight skirts and tank tops like this. You frowned and looked at yourself in the mirror again.
“You sure?” You pulled the skirt down a little. “Seems a little… skimpy.”
“Trust me, you will be getting laid tonight wearing that. Trust me.” Robin announced, barging in the room uninvited. She looked you up and down and gave you a thumbs up. “You ready? Steve and I are ready to leave.” Nancy nodded and pulled her shoes on before walking out. You sighed and followed the two girls out.
You got to the club the band was performing at and noticed it was packed. There were huge groups of people everywhere. Girls wearing tight band tees and skirts that pretty much showed their whole ass. It smelled like sweat and vodka. Kinda made you gag a little, but you toughed through it. Nancy led you over to the bar to order drinks for everyone while Steve and Robin claimed a booth. You two walked back with the drinks and you slid in the booth next to Robin. You were all talking when a tall man with long brown curly hair, a guitar strapped across her shoulder, and had a t-shirt of the band on it.
“Eddie!” Nancy stood up and hugged him tight. Steve fist bumped him and Robin gave him a high five. Steve introduced you to Eddie and you noticed he stared a little longer than normal. You blushed softly and nervously sipped your fruity drink when he complimented you. “We’re super excited you’re finally performing here! We missed being able to see you.” Nancy scooted over so Eddie could slide in next to her.
“Yeah, missed seeing you guys! This will be good, I promise.” Eddie chuckled and stole a sip from Steve’s drink. Steve scowled and snatched the drink back.
Eddie soon left and the rest of you got up to get close to the performance. You were so nervous. The spark you felt with Eddie was such a huge shock, now you were scared to be so up close to him. The performance started and you didn’t notice how hard you were biting your lip while staring at Eddie until you tasted blood. He glanced at you and smirked while playing the guitar when he saw the blood on your bottom lip. You blushed and looked down. When he started singing you were dancing with Robin while Steve was dancing with Nancy. Eddie’s eyes were on you like a hawk. God, he couldn’t look away. That tight skirt you were wearing was riding up while you swayed your hips. He could almost see the bottom of your black lacy panties.
At the end of the performance, you were still dancing with Robin. You felt someone come up behind you and the strange hands held you tight against the body behind you. You turned your head and saw a weird man practically drooling at you and grinding up against your ass. You pushed him off and Robin stepped between the two of you. He put up a fight with Steve until suddenly he was thrown on the ground. Eddie pushed him to the ground and got security to kick him out.
“You okay?” Steve looked at you and put his hands on your shoulders. You nodded and smiled.
“Yeah. He didn’t do anything serious.” He nodded and let go of you.
The group, with Eddie, sat back down at your booth and Eddie slid in next to you, pushing up close to you so Robin could fit in next to you two. Your breath caught in your throat. He smelled like sweat and faded cologne. It was a scent you could get addicted to. It was dangerous. You learned Eddie was 32. He was a little older than the rest of the group, but that just made him all that much hotter.
“How’d you meet these idiots?” Eddie asked, looking at you with a smile and a tenderness in his eyes.
“Oh, I met Robin when she was graduating and the rest of them kind of just took me in.” You looked down at your drink and sipped it. Eddie put an arm around your shoulder and pulled you close to him, squeezing you slightly.
“Well, any friend of these people is my friend.” You chuckled nervously and glanced up at him.
Steve was talking about something that happened at his job when you felt Eddie’s hand on your thigh. You gulped nervously and felt him run his fingers in soft circles on your inner thigh. You bit the inside of your lip when he leaned a little closer into you. He squeezed your thigh and raised his hand higher. You put your hand on his, stopping him from going further. He cleared his throat and kept his hand on your knee.
The group had all gotten up to dance and Eddie took your hand, pulling you with him. You gasped softly when he pulled your back into his chest and held onto your hips, swaying the both of you to the music. You bit your lip and shut your eyes, leaning your head back on his shoulder. He ran his hand up your thigh and over your belly, lightly rubbing your breasts over your shirt.
“Eddie…” You moaned softly and he leaned his head down, kissing the side of your neck. You reached a hand back and tangled it in his hair. He tucked his fingers into the top of your skirt and squeezed your ass with the other one. He kissed up your neck and pressed his lips against your ear.
“Feel good, sweetheart? Everyone’s looking at us. Some of the girls look like they wanna kill you.” He flipped you around and you gasped, wrapping your arms around his neck. He grinned and grabbed your ass with both hands, pressing your hips more up against him. “Such a pretty girl…”
You moaned softly and he pressed his forehead against yours, grinding harder against you to the music. “Eddie… please…”
He grinned and grabbed your hand, pulling you to the bathroom. He locked the door and pressed you up against the sink. His lips crashed down on yours and you groaned into his mouth, kissing him back almost immediately. You hitched your leg up around his waist and he lifted you up onto the counter. Your hands went to the buttons on his black dress shirt and started undoing them, running your fingers over every expanse of skin you exposed. He kissed down your neck and sucked a few marks into it. You smiled and moaned, pushing the shirt off his shoulders. He pulled your tank top off and dropped it on the floor. He kissed you again and squeezed your breasts over your lacy bra.
“Eddie, fuck… that feels so good…!” You moaned into his mouth and he grinned, reaching back to take the bra off, throwing it off somewhere in the sticky club bathroom.
“Yeah? Feel s’good when I touch you, baby? Wanna feel my mouth?” He pulled back and wrapped your legs around his waist. You nodded and moaned, digging the heels of your heels into the back of his thighs. He grinned and his lips instantly attached to your nipple, sucking and biting it. You cried out and threw your head back, tangling your fingers in his hair.
His hands went down and hiked your skirt up so he could slip his hand in your panties. “Fuck… So goddamn wet already…!” He groaned and swirled the tip of his tongue against your nipple. He rubbed your clit in time with his tongue and you panted heavily, grinding up against his hand. “Such a good fucking girl…” He grabbed your thighs and pulled your panties down your legs, shoving them in his back pocket. He slipped two fingers inside you in time with his thumb rubbing your clit. You instantly clenched down around his fingers and moaned, grabbing onto his shoulders.
“E-Eddie, your fingers a-are so big…!” You whined and bucked up harder against his hand. “I need… I need more… Please, Eddie…”
“Please what, honey? Use your words.” He mockingly pouted and fingered you faster.
“F-Fuck me! Please fuck me!” You cried out and sobbed in pleasure, pulling at your nipples.
He pulled you off the counter and bent you over it. He pulled his aching cock out and spit on his hand, stroking it a little before slowly pushing in. You groaned in unison, creating a song of pleasure between the two of you. He didn’t hold back at all. He growled like an animal and fucked you hard, the slapping of skin loud and could be heard over the muffled music behind the bathroom door. You sobbed, your eyes filling with tears of pure pleasure, moaning and gripping the counter hard.
“Goddamn, baby… So fucking tight around me… Gonna fucking milk me dry, huh? Want my cum deep inside you, honey?” You nodded and moaned louder.
“Y-Yes…! Please cum so deep inside me! I want it so bad…!” Your mouth hung open and he went faster.
“Cum for me first, baby. I’ll give you anything you want if you cum all over my cock.” He groaned and rubbed your clit in time with thrusts.
You cried out, finally given permission and came harder around his cock, squeezing hard around him and moaning loudly. Eddie grunted and groaned, grabbing your chin and pulling you up to kiss you hard, still pounding into you from behind. You begged and pleaded with him to cum and he finally granted you your wish, cumming deep inside you and moaning into your ear. You both caught your breath and your eyes shut as you slumped against the counter. You heard him grab some paper towels and get them wet, wiping your sensitive cunt clean before helping you fix your clothes. You both walked out of the bathroom a few minutes later and your group all gave you knowing looks. Eddie grinned and kissed your cheek while you blushed and buried your face deep in his chest in embarrassment.

Genuinely why do people think Steve can't be a fully actualized person and a love interest at the same time? Do you guys just passively consume media without, like, paying attention? Steve has been his own fully developed person since season two. We don't need to know ever detail of his life to know who he is as a person. We know the moral fiber of his character and the strength of his will. We know he loves passionately and will do anything to help. We know he's a catty bitch that doesn't get along with his dad.
Not... everything has to be shown to us for Steve to be a real fleshed out character. There are definitely places where things fall flat (letting him even feel pain after his many beatings or torture of being eaten) but being a love interest is not one of the things where the Duffers have fucked up on him. Besides Nancy, he has the most character development out of the teens and he has an actual character arc that's been percolating since season one.
You don't need to ship Stancy or like it. That's not necessary. I personally wasn't a shipper until recently (though I never hated it like some people, I've just always focused more on the Steve and the kids or Steve and Robin) and I have to say it makes a lot of sense in the scheme of things for the love triangle to be reignited. Steve and Jonathan are not just contenders for Nancy's love, they both represent something for her journey and her picking one of them will be indicative of the path she's taking. Steve's speech about learning to crawl forward wasn't just about him, that was a display of what Steve's character can offer to Nancy's character as a romantic partner. The ability to learn to MOVE ON. TO CRAWL FORWARD.
Nancy as we know is still trapped in her grief from Barb and while Jonathan has helped her get justice from that tragedy he never helped her move PAST the pain of it. One represents moving forward, and Jonathan sadly this last season, represented regression.
Personally, I think it's Jonathan more than anyone that needs to not be in a relationship. It hasn't ever seemed to make him happy. I don't think Jonathan will ever be happy until he's allowed to get away from his family a little bit. The parentification Joyce did to him really fucked that boy up and he needs, in my opinion, to focus on himself more than anyone.
Nancy has expressly stated before that she doesn't want to be alone! Steve has expressly stated he wants love and romance and a family! They're still young they can work out their future later, why can't they find some happiness in coming back together stronger and more fully self actualized? More mature and developed? I think it actually makes for a very fitting end from a narrative standpoint which is, honestly, what convinced me to switch over to the ship in the first place.
Neither Steve nor Nancy have ever been reduced to just love interests. Even in season one when Steve is explicitly introduced as only a love interest, he actually has his own character arc going on. All following seasons Steve and Nancy (whether dating, broken up, or flirting) have all had plots not related to their romance. No one is being reduced to just a romantic interest. Unfortunately, poor Jonathan is the one that got that treatment. He's the one that needs to have something devoted to just him; something that isn't just being a brother or a boyfriend. Giving him a friend was a step in the right direction. Let's give him a dream now and not just something that we hear from Joyce. A real dream from Jonathan's mouth. Because all we've heard from him are the things he DOESN'T want for the future.
Also Stoncy supremacy anyway. Let all three fuck nasty.
(Let's not bring up the whole six nuggets things. I highly doubt Steve is actually going to expect six children from his future partner. It was a reference to the party. It was him lightening the mood and trying to bring some levity to a serious, and frankly, terrifying, situation. It was him trying to make Nancy laugh while laying his heart on the line. He's not expect six literal children.)

Tumblr media Tumblr media
January 1987
It was nearly nine o'clock on a cold, January night and her mother had asked her to pick up her brother Mike from The Hellfire Club.
She loved her family but she was the middle child so she kinda got forgotten sometimes not that her parents did it intentionally, well at least her mother didn't.
Her dad wasn't really interested in any of his kids so she didn't take it to heart. It's just with Nancy being the oldest and the golden child, Mike being the only boy and Holly the baby it didn't leave much room for her.
So she forged her own path and became more and more independent as time went on, she loved her siblings and they loved her but they didn't understand her feelings.
Sighing she heads into the auditorium where Hellfire Club was held and heard the campaign was still ongoing.
Mike groans as she comes into view.
"Aw come on y/n five minutes". Dustin beams at her and she ruffles his hair. Lucas and Will are still engaged in the game.
"Wheeler who is this?" She startles as a deep voice barks out and she turns to the head of the table where Eddie Munson sits.
Her brother idolises him and even though Eddie and the older members of Hellfire have graduated now they still attend Hellfire meetings and Eddie is still the Dungeon Master.
Her stomach fills with butterflies and she smiles sweetly, he's really cute. His curly brown hair and brown eyes make her melt and those dimples and tats? He's very sexy.
"Hi, I didn't mean to interrupt. I'm y/n". Mike frowns.
"This is my sister, I'm sorry she doesn't know that no one interrupts the campaign". Mike replies and introduces her to Eddie.
Eddie takes her hand and kisses it tenderly.
"Well hello, fair maiden, I'm Eddie. I didn't know that Wheeler had a third sister". She shrugs.
"Don't worry people don't really notice me anyway". He raises an eyebrow.
"Princess, I find that very hard to believe. Wheeler, he snaps why have you never introduced us?". Mike stammers for a second before scowling.
"What is it with guys wanting to date my sisters, Steve, Jonathan for Nancy and now you with y/n!".
Tumblr media
Eddie frowns at Mike and turns back to y/n who he's kicking himself for not noticing. She's beautiful and he's instantly smitten with her and her pretty eyes and kind smile.
The game is finishing up anyway so he suggests for her to wait for a few moments and doesn't want to miss his chance to ask her out.
He just hopes she says yes.
"So uh princess what are you doing after dropping the kids off?". Her eyes light up and she moves closer to him batting those pretty eyes at him.
Oh, sweetheart. You already have me falling hook, line and sinker for you he thinks dreamily.
"Well, the boys are having a sleepover, boys' night in the basement. So I was just planning to watch a movie".
Mike is gaping between them as Dustin, Lucas and Will watch him trying to hide their laughter.
"Mind if I join you, sweetheart?". She beams at him and he swears his heart skips a beat.
"You mean like a date?". She asks him softly there's a hopefulness to her tone and he nods trying to keep his cool.
"Yeah, like a date". Still beaming she answers his question.
"I'd love that Eddie, Mike, get your ass in gear I've got a date tonight". Mike looks horrified but one look from him and y/n silences him.
They head out into the cold January night with Dustin, Lucas and Will teasing Mike relentlessly.
Y/n shivers and he immediately takes off his jacket and places it around her shoulders marvelling at how fucking gorgeous she looks in his jacket.
He can't believe his luck that she wants to go on this date and spends the ride in anticipation of what will happen.
Once the boys are at the Wheeler's house and in the basement she puts on a movie for them to watch.
It's Friday the 13th and he finds out that she loves horror movies, though he does offer his services for her to cuddle into if she ever got a bit freaked out.
Turns out they don't watch much of the movie at all, the tension between them is palpable and when they kiss he's hooked, teasing little moans from her mouth that drive him wild
He could imagine kissing her forever, even when he was old and grey. He had never felt like this before for any girl, his cynical heart refusing to believe in love and romance and all that soppy shit.
Truthfully Eddie always thought love, at first sight, was a load of shit but now he was starting to believe in it.
With y/n he fell hard for her and kept on falling.
"Ugh gross!". They break apart and Mike has come upstairs for some snacks and mutters under his breath as Dustin grins.
"They are going to be kissing all the time now you know". Mike covers his ears and y/n bursts into laughter when Mike rushes down to the basement.
"Hey, where are my kisses?". She pouts at him and he smiles stroking her cheek and capturing her lips with his.

one thing about me is that i will always and forever be a stoncy girly. i occasionally rb posts about them but i'm mainyl involved in the byler fandom atm so i don't talk ab them as much as i want to. anyways
stoncy is really interesting to think about particularly considering where things are in canon for the three of them right now. so, firstly, my thoughts on that:
i am 100% rooting for jancy endgame in-show. i'm not a fan of love triangles (hence why i started shipping stoncy in the first place, they all have chemistry n i think they should all kiss each other at the exact same time) but up until s4 there was no reason to think that jancy wouldn't be endgame, and honestly i'm upset that the writers brought stancy back in, considering that steve's s3 arc was all about him learning he doesn't need romantic love to fulfill his life, and what he and nancy each want in life simply are not compatible. jancy r iconic. jancy r goals. jancy had a whole speech in s4 talking about all the things they love about the other. although they've hit a slight rough patch due to jonathan's conflicting desires in supporting her goals while also being there for his family which has historically needed a lot of his support, they just need to get on the same page about this. they WILL prevail i KNOW this i TRUST
okay, lark, you say. if ur so obsessed with jancy endgame then why stoncy at all? AND I WILL TELL YOU WHY.
it all comes down to stonathan. also shoutout to @messrsbyler for championing the stonathan agenda lately. we should all attempt to live up to your example. SO TRUE.
so. post-s1 era in-show. or, honestly, u can rework this and make it fit at any point in the timeline. but anyways: nancy's with steve, they r trying and somewhat struggling to make it work (though they did last an entire YEAR so kudos for that ig). nancy VERY obviously has feelings for jonathan, who hangs out with her sometimes but is generally avoiding both of them. and honestly? steve thinks jonathan's pretty cool too. and, like, he spent a while treating jonathan like shit so he should probably try and make it up to him. right??? AND THEN THEY KISS.
no, but actually: steve's the type not to even realize that he's actually in love with jonathan. he's like, well, nancy loves him, and i love nancy, so... (that's the transitive property, right? i don't remember anything from 5th grade math class.) he doesn't even realize it's gay of him to feel that way. (NOTE: stoncy r bi4bi4bi and you WILL NOT be changing my mind.) if u extend the timeline to post-s3, robin might be able to help him w this LOL, i've read a really good fic or two where that's the case
on the other side, i feel like jonathan would have an easier time accepting his feeling, especially now that steve is making an effort to make friends with him. not to digress about the byers brothers but i'm gonna. when it comes to accepting his bisexuality jonathan doesn't have nearly as much internalized homophobia to deal with as will does regarding being gay. will has really internalized all of the things lonnie/the bullies have said about him, whereas jonathan is openly defiant of them. but in true byers fashion, he's not gonna make a move about it.
honestly i'm inclined to say that nancy, the girlboss that she is, (perhaps along with robin, again, if the timeline goes later) is the one to witness stonathan making goo-goo eyes at each other and she's like. you know what. this Might Actually solve 90% of my problems. so SHE'S the one who prompts them into it. but to be completely honest all three of them are so completely dramatic about everything so i could even see it all coming down to robin and maybe argyle to force them to get their shit together 😆
this is honestly just one way that it could go down, i've read a lot of different iterations and i love them all.

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love!
Daisies (Steddie)
Summary: He hacked out a few more harsh sounding noises, before he spat into his open palm, taking a relieved breath as whatever was lodged in his throat came out. Eddie would’ve been relieved too, confused, but okay now that Steve was safe. And then he saw what was in Steve’s hand. A daisy. Steve had just coughed up a fucking daisy. And, judging by the completely blasé expression he had on his face as he looked down at it, this wasn’t the first time. When Steve wakes up choking on flowers, Eddie thinks that it might be the end. It turns out to be just the beginning.
I love Daisies so much and the response it got was wayyyy more than I ever could have expected!!! A hanahaki AU that it's a little non-traditional and one of my all time faves I've written!!!
2. Princess (Steddie, Steve and Chrissy)
Summary: “You knew Chrissy” Eddie managed to force out, feeling like he was about to vomit. Steve nodded, still looking at the picture. Chrissy’s little face was overtaken by an absolutely enormous grin, and her right hand was tightly grabbing onto Steve’s free left one.  “Who do you think gave her her title?” He asked rhetorically, side-eyeing Eddie to gauge his reaction. When Eddie didn’t give one, Steve sighed, stepping away, “People always get that story wrong though,” Eddie wakes up alone, goes downstairs, and finds out things he wasn't ready to know.
Princesssssssss. Augh this one hurts me every time I read it and it's one of my top favorite head canons. I think Steve and Chrissy being cousins hits a chord that is just so perfect? This little detail that doesn't actually exist to anyone but me is so canon to me now haha!
3. Let Me Just Hold You Now (Stolen)
Summary: Steve has a routine for nights like this. A routine for the times when his world gets flipped on its axis. Just four simple steps to keep his body alive while his mind tries to sort through whatever fucked up thing he just went through.  Steve has a Routine.  Robin breaks that Routine.
THIS FIC MAN. I really hit a stride with Stolen fics that just felt soooooo yeah I really loved writing this one and that's not something I can usually say!!
4. The Day After (Stoncy)
Summary: The morning after Steve helps to destroy a demon who had been trying to kill Jonathan Byers and Nancy Wheeler, he goes to school. He didn't want to go. He didn't know why he did it. He just went. It was startling to see how the rest of the world didn't change.
Agh! So I have a mixed relationship with this series but I had to include a stoncy fic in this list and this one was the one that really started it all. The first long fic I finished, the first one I felt really proud of, and the fic that really started my love for stranger things. Yeah I'm proud of this one.
5. How to Rehabilitate a Jock (Eventual Steddie WIP)
Summary: After their breakup, Steve found that being around Nancy and Jonathan was pretty much unbearable. His old friends wouldn't even look at him, and there was only so much time he could spend with the kids before he started feeling kind of pathetic. All in all, he was a pretty lonely person now. But was he really lonely enough to consider joining Hellfire club? And were they really willing to accept having a dethroned king in their party? A post season two AU where Steve becomes a part of hellfire club
This one is probably my baby and will be for at least the rest of the year. She gives me so much trouble but I love her so gosh darn much!!!!! Anyways it's my most popular story, it feels like a lot of pressure, but I love it.
TY MORGAN THIS WAS SO MUCH FUN AND IM SO GRATEFUL YOU SENT THISSSS

Can you write about a night where they're all together in Nancy and Mike's basement and while the kids are playing some borad games, the older ones decide to play truth or dare, or something like that, and Nancy and Robin end up revealing their feelings for one another?
Bonus if the kids have to watch after the older ones because they end up all drunk ahahaha
i never know how to end these. i think i've forgotten the meaning of the word 'one-shot', haha
anyway, i hope you enjoy!! (minor steddie included btw)
not allowed (5,005 words)
There were only so many things a person could do in the Wheeler basement. Especially when the kids had spread out like they were now, taking up half and then some for their latest D&D adventure - something about a dungeon and the undead and Will having to get dressed up like a wizard for the majority of it. Robin couldn’t keep track well enough. Not that she wasn’t a nerd, she totally was. But a nerd for tabletop roleplay? Hell no. There was too much quick math involved.
And she wouldn’t normally be downstairs anyway. The kids, whole sophomores now, could typically handle themselves. Sure, something would probably get set on fire, and somebody would be bleeding by the end of the night, but it was all in good fun for the latchkey kids of Hawkins, Indiana.
Tonight Robin was though. She was for one reason. One reason that was so utterly embarrassing she couldn’t possibly say it aloud, though she struggled to give a better excuse to Keith when she’d explained why she couldn’t lock Family Video up that night. The reason being: Nancy Wheeler.
Because, apparently, it was Robin’s fatal flaw to follow Nancy around like a lost dog. Whenever Nancy flew in from her tiny college over in Massachusetts Robin sniffed her out like a bloodhound. Not that the sentiment was unwelcome, or - at least Robin desperately hoped it wasn’t. At this point she wasn’t sure if she could handle the idea of Nancy not wanting her around. A day without seeing a glimpse of Nancy’s bouncy curls or freckled nose or even just the pink tips of her ears was a day wasted.
Yeah, she was completely and hopelessly gone. She’d never admit it, though. That idea was even worse than the one where Nancy wanted nothing to do with her. Mostly because, in Robin’s uncontrollable anxious daydreams, they worked in tandem. Robin would inevitably spill out something condemning, Nancy would pick up on it like the detective she was, and their friendship would be over in minutes. Seconds even. Nancy was quick like that.
Anyway - tonight they were down in the Wheeler basement, ‘babysitting’ the tikes as they stayed up way past their bedtime pretending to be knights and elves and whatnot. Steve and Eddie, attached at the hip as they always seemed to be these days, had also come. Steve refused to let Robin skip out on work if she wouldn’t take him with her, standing in between her and the door like a petulant child once she’d clocked out.
“I’m bored,” Eddie announced, twisted around on the couch with his legs up against the wallpaper and head on the cushions. He tapped his combat boots on the wall absently to a song only he could hear.
“We could try a board game,” Nancy suggested with a glance over to the Wheeler’s pitiful single shelf of games. “I mean, it’s in the name.”
“No more Monopoly,” Steve said, bordering on a plea. The last time they’d played Monopoly the basement had nearly burnt to the ground and their foursome friendship had almost been destroyed. As Monopoly games tended to do, especially to people as intense as the four of them. She shuttered to remember the railroads.
“Life?” Nancy had gotten up from her place at Robin’s side, a warmth surely missed, to trace the words on the boxes laid out on the shelf.
“None of that kid shit,” Eddie dismissed, waving his hand. Upside down, his grin looked absolutely devilish. Very manic. “Let’s play Truth or Dare.”
“Right,” Steve said in a monotone voice, shooting him a raised eyebrow. “Because that’s not a kids’ game.”
“Not the way I play,” Eddie retorted, his grin stretching dangerously across his face. Robin could feel her stomach twisting in half-excited anticipation, as was typical whenever Eddie got that glazed over look in his eyes. He was always cooking up something. She glanced over her shoulder at a burning on her neck to find Nancy stood behind her, already watching. Their eyes met and flashed quickly away, Nancy as bashful as she. Robin swallowed thickly.
Steve’s graceless plop down beside her onto the floor shook her out of her Nancy-induced trance. He had a small, hesitant smile on his face. She narrowed her eyes as she took in the presence of a faint mustache on his upper lip - something he’d clearly gained while she was away at her first semester at Purdue.
“I don’t like that,” She established, gesturing to the whole of his face. Steve rolled his eyes. Much to her dismay, she hardly wounded him anymore. In fact, her dislike of his new facial ornament probably spurned him to keep it longer. She picked him with a handlebar and couldn’t hold back a cackling laugh, which made him twist his face up in pretend annoyance.
“You don’t get the appeal,” He corrected.
“Yeah, Buckley,” Eddie cut in, reaching over with a limp hand to bat at Steve’s face. Steve let him with a poorly hidden smile, Eddie’s fingers poking at his little mustache. “You don’t understand the appeal of a flavor-saver.”
“I’m going to throw up,” Robin announced warningly. Eddie cooed and flipped over, long legs sprawling out across the plaid couch and his arm moving past Steve to bat Robin in the face.
“Not yet, you haven’t drank anything,” Eddie said. She frowned and his fingers touched at her narrowed eyebrows.
“I’m gonna be drinking?” Robin asked. Eddie grinned and slid up into a folded-leg position, gesturing for Nancy to return from where she’d wandered off to watch the kids play.
“Gather ‘round, gather ‘round,” He offered, arms spread wide. Nancy plopped down on the opposite end of the coffee table. Robin watched her with owl eyes. How was it possible that a person could even sit gracefully? She stole a peek at the way the veins in Nancy’s neck flashed when she turned her head to look at Eddie. It nearly made her pass out on the spot - she felt Victorian. “Instead of ‘Truth or Dare’, we’ll play ‘Truth or Drink’.”
“Getting drunk in my ex-girlfriend’s basement,” Steve hummed, fake consideration on his face. “Yeah. Okay.”
“I’m a little worried about what questions you’re planning on asking,” Nancy cut in, voice going up slightly at the end. She and Eddie shared a knowing glance: his grin combating her growing scowl. They often hung out as a duo, the group sometimes spilt down the middle when others were occupied or working. Clearly he knew something Robin didn’t. She was hit with a wave of irrational jealousy - what was she hiding from them? From her?
She loathed to imagine something truely horrific. Like - and this was undoubtedly the worst possible scenario, shut up - Nancy liking Steve again. God, Robin would rather drink bleach.
Eddie smacked down a bottle of pre-drank vodka and Robin supposed she’d learn whatever it was before the night was over. From their half-assed parties the past summer, Nancy got fairly loose-lipped when she was tipsy. She seemed to hazily remember Nancy spilling about she and Steve’s previous sex life in late August (which, yuck, because Steve was her best friend, but also God did Robin want to know everything there was to know about the sexual habits of Nancy Wheeler). Steve pulled his knees to his chest. She could feel his eyes on the side of her face, analyzing.
He knew about her embarrassing crush. How could he not? They practically shared a brain.
“Is this a good idea?” Steve asked her. Robin shrugged.
“Let’s make bad decisions,” She decided. She’d hardly had the room to these past few years. They fist-bumped in mutual agreement to get shit-faced and regret it in the morning.
“Glad to hear it,” Eddie grinned, hair falling charmingly in front of his eyes as he leaned forward to twist off the cap on the bottle. “But remember: keep it down for the shitheads.”
“Right,” They chorused. Nancy’s eyes found Robin’s again over the table. Her soft smile, pink lips shiny in the dim lighting of the basement. She licked at her bottom lip absently. Robin started having heart palpitations.
A few minutes, and then four cups had been found. Robin didn’t want to ask if they were clean or not. Eddie dumped a good amount of the bottle in each, excess vodka dripping off the rim of the cup and onto the wooden table. Nancy reached out with her sweatered arm to wipe it off, casting a glance back at the kids. They weren’t paying attention - they usually weren’t. Robin took an experimental sniff.
She’d never drank vodka before - wine, sure. Beer over the aforementioned summer, because it was cheap and the only thing the guy at the liquor store let underaged Steve-Harrington-with-the-fake-ID take. But never straight vodka. It smelled like rubbing alcohol. Nancy seemed less affected. Perhaps she had more experience with party fuel than Robin knew about.
“Steve,” Eddie began, looking up through his curly bangs and spreading himself languidly back onto the couch. His head landed some inches from Steve’s, who went curiously red. Robin could feel him tense by her shoulder. “Here’s your question: Do you remember the time you bought an ounce from me four years ago? And if you do, you have to tell everybody the story.” Steve blinked for a moment before letting out a long, dramatic groan of recognition. Eddie cackled in pure joy as the other buried his face in his hands.
“I might have to drink,” Steve spoke, muffled by his sweaty palms.
“What happened?” Nancy asked, eagerly leaning over the table.
“Come on, this is an easy one!” Eddie teased, poking at Steve’s ear with his hand. Slowly, Steve’s head returned to the basement, and he glanced at his three friends in agony.
“Fine,” He groaned again, setting his cup haphazardly on the corner of the coffee table. “Okay, so you gotta remember I was like, a total douchebag - it was Halloween of my sophomore year.”
“What was your costume?” Robin asked, feeding off Eddie’s energy (as she tended to). They shared twin grins, cornering Steve in with their amusement.
“I was. Uh,” Steve snapped his finger, attempting to remember. “I dunno. Something stupid.”
“Han Solo,” Eddie supplied for him. He’d propped himself up on one hand, watching with excited eyes.
“Right,” Steve agreed absently. “And I wouldn’t have gone looking for weed, except the girl I was with - uh. She wanted to get high.”
“Who was it?” Nancy asked, knees pressed to the leg of the coffee table. Robin couldn’t take her eyes away from the way she leaned, her curls falling on her face and against her collarbone. Her hair had grown out over the months they hadn’t seen each other. Plenty of calls, but no face-to-face interaction. The longer hair looked good on Nancy. The curls tumbled like a brown, beautiful waterfall. It suddenly became unbearably hot in the basement. Steve grimaced, glancing back at Eddie. Robin was glad he was too wrapped up in his embarrassment to tease her for drooling all over Nancy’s carpet.
“Do I have to say?” He asked him. Eddie nodded as solemnly as one could manage whilst wearing a shit-eating grin. “God, okay. It was Bianca Ambrose.”
“Bianca? She’s got a whole-ass baby!” Robin gasped, moving in closer to Steve.
“That’s part of the story,” Eddie giggled.
“If you say it like that-” Steve cut himself off, shooting Eddie a half-glare, half-fond grin. “Anyway. So Bianca wanted to get high and I wanted to get laid. We went into the laundry room, since that’s where Eddie hangs out at most parties. But when we got there, he was in the middle of another deal. So I’m like ‘alright man, just head upstairs when you’re done’.”
“But then Bianca just, like, launches herself at me when we get upstairs. So fast we can’t even get a bedroom, we end up in the second floor bathroom. In the tub. And we’re making out when somebody knocks on the door. I call out, thinking it’s Eddie, and I’m like ‘just fuckin’ wait, man’. So I’m getting a little pissed because he just keeps knocking and knocking and so eventually I just shout ‘if you keep knocking on the fucking door, I’m coming out and knocking you out.’”
Robin took her eyes off Steve to instead watch Nancy, whose face was alight with curiosity. Her doe eyes, pupils enlarged by the dim lighting of the basement, looked positively ethereal.
“Then the door bursts open and it’s not Eddie,” Steve said, running a hand down his face as if exhausted by the memory itself. “It’s her baby daddy, Chris.” The other three burst out into laughter; Robin and Nancy surprised, Eddie gleefully knowing.
“And then he proceeded to beat the everloving shit out of Stevie,” Eddie sing-songed, rolling over onto his back so that he could stare up at the ceiling. Steve nodded, miserable.
“She’d been so desperate because she was trying to avoid him seeing us. Like that worked,” Steve said the last bit absently. Despite the point of the game being either to answer the question or drink, he took a sip of vodka and winced accordingly. Perhaps to cleanse himself of the memory.
“I gave him the ounce anyway,” Eddie finished, patting Steve’s shoulder comfortingly. Robin tore her eyes away from Nancy’s glowing face to see Steve’s eyes lingering just a little too long on the way Eddie’s ringed fingers encircled his arm and squeezed. “I felt bad for the sucker.”
“Okay, Robin -” Steve began, pointing at her with his cup. “Your turn.”
“Alright,” She said, steeling herself. She trusted him not to make too much of a fool out of her, but as she watched his eyes slide dangerously back to Nancy (who’d shifted closer during the story) she considered otherwise.
“Who did you like sophomore year?” He asked like the little shit he was, taking another absent sip of vodka. She snarled at his cocky face and, after a moment of pause, downed her drink.
God, vodka was disgusting. She took way too much in one go, feeling its burn all the way from her throat to her stomach. She put a hand over her mouth in an inane worry she might puke from one sip, grimacing at the taste.
“That bad, huh?” Eddie asked, laughing. She rolled her eyes and set her drink down beside where Steve’d put his back on the coffee table, ignoring the way Nancy was watching her with rapt curiosity. Like she’d admit to Tammy Thompson.
Not that Eddie and Nancy didn’t know she was gay - it wasn’t like Steve was outting her or anything. She’d come out to them the previous August, because what says ‘trauma bonding’ like coming out to the people she’d spent a good chunk of time exploring an alternate Hell dimension with. They were both very nice about it.
Eddie’s response was unsurprising. He was the same. Nancy’s was more surprising. Despite her parents’ affinity for Reagan, she seemed a stanch ally (and Robin would not let herself dream of anything else). She was even a little too overeager, repeatedly attempting to wrangle Robin into driving up to Indianapolis with her when she came to visit and attend gay gatherings. Apparently there was plenty of that at Emerson. Robin couldn’t let herself be jealous. Purdue was not the most ‘out’ campus, but she felt comfortable enough to come out to a few non-monster-hunting friends her first semester.
“Okay, Eddie,” Robin began. The rest of the group ‘ooh’ed in response as Robin leaned over Steve’s head, arm pressing down the meticulous brown tuff, to stare Eddie down. He looked so goofy from that perspective, half-upside down and still grinning like a fool. She couldn’t resist reaching out to ruffle his hair. “Here’s your question: who’s the craziest person you’ve ever dealt to? Like, the person that would surprise us the most.”
He flopped back onto his side, face scrunched up in deep thought. Then: the biggest grin Robin had ever seen him wear.
“Jason Carver,” He said.
“No. Fucking. Way,” Nancy gushed, practically leaping over the coffee table. Her hand came out to land on the wooden surface, nearly knocking Robin’s drink over into her lap. Both reached for the cup as it tipped, fingers clashing against the plastic as they saved Robin’s pants from sudden death. Robin looked up from their connected hands, breath catching in her throat as Nancy’s sparkling eyes met her own. It was like a flash of lightning.
“What’d he buy?” Robin rushed out all in one breath, desperately trying to distract herself from drowning in Nancy’s eyes.
“Heroin,” Eddie said. All three pairs of eyes landed on him and he laughed, loud and booming. “No, jesus! I’m kidding, you guys are so gullible. It was just weed.” Steve laughed too, head hitting the back of the couch. Robin laughed in order to release the adrenaline, high-pitched and weird. She let go of the cup as Nancy did, who shifted back to her place across the coffee table.
The game continued for a few more rounds, questions ranging from absolutely invasive (‘Steve, do you wash your ass? Be honest’) and fairly tame (‘What’s the weirdest dream you’ve ever had with me in it, Robin?’). Robin drank practically half the cup when Steve asked her about her family in Kansas. Steve chugged after Nancy pressed him to admit to her (and the group) about the small stuffed animal collection under his bed. Eddie took sips a leisurely pace, answering every question lobbied at him - shameless per usual. Nancy, however...
Nancy was drunk, clearly. She was drinking at practically every question, no matter if she answered. At this point they were having to pass around the bottle, her cup having gotten thoroughly drained. Robin was nearly done hers, far behind her friends on that account.
“-and that’s why Mayor Brown despises me now,” Steve finished slowly, words slurring as he laughed aimlessly and leaned awkwardly onto Eddie’s exposed shoulder. Eddie looked up, chin to chest, from his sprawled spot on the couch. His eyes were unfocused.
“Okay, okay, Nance,” He started, pointing at Nancy. His finger went somewhere behind her, but she didn’t seem to care.
“It’s not your turn!” Nancy protested. “It’s Steve’s.”
“Who cares, I made this shit up,” Eddie whined, waving her away. She laughed and ran a hand through her curls, tugging at the strands by her pink-tipped ears absently. Robin watched as if watching God. “Nance, here’s your question: Who do you have a crush on?” He dragged out the word ‘crush’ like a child.
She ducked her face into her sweater sleeve, giggles buried. When she reappeared, her face was a bright, beautiful red.
“Eddie, I hate you,” Nancy proclaimed. Her hand came out to graze her cup before recognition flickered across her face, a dim remembering that her cup had been empty for some time. There was nothing left to drink. Her smile dropped. “Eddie, I hate you.”
“You love me,” He challenged, cackling into the rim of his cup and shutting his eyes with glee.
“Who is it?” Steve asked, ever the oblivious golden retriever. He had no idea how tense Nancy had gotten over the past ten seconds, smiling like an idiot still. Robin knew, though. She watched Nancy’s eyes flicker over the two best friends cautiously and her heart tumbled down into her stomach.
The terror: Steve is Nancy’s crush. How juvenile was to get jealous over a past relationship, especially one that included her best friend (who no longer felt anything for Nancy, she was sure). Still Robin’s whole body seized. The mere idea of hearing the words leave Nancy’s lips wounded, stabbed at her chest like a rough spear. Nancy’s eyes continued to drift, anxious and aimless. When they landed on Robin’s face they would dash away, the deer caught in Robin’s highbeams. Robin took a steadying breath and thought through her options. She needed to avoid this admission, no matter the cost.
“Take my drink,” She offered, lightbulb flashing in her head. She held up her red solo cup as a gift, the perfect amount for a sip left lingering in the bottom. Nancy’s face fell in utter relief, grinning at Robin with a tipsy, lopsided smile. It was almost unfair, how utterly otherworldly she was.
“Thanks,” Nancy said, all giggly again. She lifted herself up onto the coffee table, similar to how she had before - but much drunker. Something slipped and Nancy all but collapsed over the table. Robin barely managed to keep the cup out of tipping distance as the other girl landed in her lap, flimsy limbs sprawled across her. Nancy looked up through those thick eyelashes, freckles smothered by her growing blush. Robin watched her, eyes no doubt crossed from the way their noses had smooshed together. “Sorry!”
“It’s fine,” Robin said, barely audible from the mortifying squeak that followed. Eddie and Steve had burst into loud, wild laughter somewhere in between Nancy falling and Robin melting. Nancy scrambled to sit herself beside Robin after a belated realization she’d stayed atop her for a little too long, their legs staying mis-mashed underneath the coffee table. “Here.”
She passed Nancy the cup, who took it with shaky hands. She downed the rest before slowly lowering the cup, face abashed with heavy embarrassment.
“I drank the rest of your drink,” Nancy realized, mouth half-full of vodka. “Shit, I’m sorry. That was yours, and I drank it.” Robin waved her off. She couldn’t decide whether it would be easier for Nancy to hop off and free her from the torment of sitting so close or for her to get closer, to stay just as warm and radiate as she was.
“Why don’t you give her some, then?” Eddie pressed. “You haven’t swallowed yet.” As Nancy nodded slowly, eyes drifting over Robin’s face in a steady trek. They lingered on the mouth in question, and as her tongue darted out to wet her bottom lip again, something slowly clicked in Robin’s brain - the vodka did nothing to help the budding realization come any faster.
Nancy liked her. Clearly that was why Eddie was teasing her. Robin nearly fell through the floor from the shock of it all. Nancy fucking Wheeler had a crush on her and she was the reason she was blushing so hard. Nancy Wheeler with the three guns in her childhood bedroom and a stuffed animal named Mr. Rabbit. Nancy Wheeler, pseudo-valedictorian of Emerson College. Robin’s perfect girl. Her unattainable crush. That’s how it was supposed to go.
No, no way. But then Nancy was glancing up at her again, as she had over and over that night. She hadn’t swallowed still. Her tentative smile stole Robin’s breath from her lungs.
“Yeah, why don’t you give me some?” Robin asked in a voice that wasn’t her own, apparently possessed by the spirit of Steve ‘Casanova’ Harrington. She almost immediately choked back an apology and a quick scramble to the safety of the couch, away from the beautiful girl half-sprawled across her. But then Nancy was shutting her eyes and lunging forward, kids and D&D and shitty, meddling best friends be damned. Robin only had just enough time to wrap a protective arm around Nancy’s waist before they were crashing into Steve’s side.
She felt the begrudgingly familiar acidic taste of the vodka push into her mouth, along with the unfamiliar and intoxicating feeling of Nancy’s tongue pressed against her own. Up so close and personal, Robin could smell Nancy’s heavy, flowery perfume. Her eyes practically rolled into the back of her head.
“Okay, damn, get a room,” Steve chastised, smacking at Robin’s shoulder and shoving her back into a sitting position. Robin rocketed up, head smacking the underside of the coffee table as she did so. Nancy stumbled backwards, falling onto her elbows and cackling like a hyena at Robin’s clusminess.
“Jesus,” Robin said, more embarrassed as she had ever been in her entire life and so unbelievably happy.
“Yeah,” Nancy agreed. She grinned and flopped back onto the yellowing carpet, arms spread out as if about to make a snowangel out of the fuzz.
“What the hell are you guys doing?” Dustin’s voice poked through the tipsy haze. Robin turned head towards the corner of the basement to see the kids faces hanging in front of her own, all varying levels of unimpressed. Apparently they’d made enough commotion in their drunken state to force them to pause the D&D game entirely, where Dustin now stood at the center of the gaggle of children - obviously disapproving. Robin couldn’t help but laugh at the way he rested his hands on his hips, nudging Steve in the side. Like father, like son.
“We’re having fun,” Eddie explained, head flopping back down onto the couch and eyes shutting. “You should try it.”
“We are trying,” Dustin spoke slowly, as if communicating with a toddler. “But it’s a little hard when you four are shrieking and injuring yourselves.”
“Yeah, aren’t you guys supposed to be babysitting us?” Will cut in, eyes narrowed in judgement. But he was smiling, so Robin knew he wasn’t too upset. A tug at her sweater reminded her of just what had happened - and who was next to her.
Had that even been a kiss? Or had it been more like an alcoholic version of shotgunning? The look on Nancy’s smiley face gave nothing away, but her fingers curled in Robin’s sweater nonetheless.
“We’ll go to bed, then,” Nancy decided. “Come on, Rob.”
“Okay,” Robin agreed, because she’d follow Nancy anywhere. As she stood up, Steve tugged at her ankle.
“Hey, what the hell?” He protested quietly, rubbing a hand against his forehead. “Don’t leave us with the twerps.”
“You willingly choose to spend your Friday nights down here!” Dustin protested, voice entirely too high-pitched for how drunk they all were. Steve waved his hand around in absent dismissal, moving to stand up on shaky legs beside his best friend.
“Party in Nancy’s room!” He cheered, hands above his head. “Here, look how fast I can run up the stairs.”
“Steve,” Robin weakly protested, hardly paying attention as he hopped up the basement steps two at a time. Nancy’s fingers were wriggling their way underneath her sweater sleeve as they stood there, cold fingers tracing her freckled bicep. She hoped she couldn’t feel how much she was sweating.
“You guys move too fast,” Eddie muttered, sitting up at his spot on the couch. Dustin moved forward, seemingly to help him get up, but Eddie grinned and stood by himself. He stretched once, all old-man-like, and then tore after Steve, battling him to reach the top of the second floor. They could hear them stomping around upstairs, no doubt waking up both adult Wheelers and setting Nancy up for a harsh conversation the next morning. By the look on her blissed-out face, she didn’t seem to care.
“Let’s go to sleep,” Nancy repeated, fingertips lacing their way around Robin’s wrist.
“Alright,” Robin agreed again.
“You guys are hopeless,” Dustin groaned, the blurry faces of the kids behind him chorusing their agreement. Either they left or went back to their D&D game, because suddenly it was just Robin and Nancy at the foot of the stairs. Tangled up together. Robin let her hang off her wrist. The press of her carefully cut fingernails felt nice against her skin, her cold hand to her burning hot body.
“It’s you,” Nancy said without context, eyes unfocused. Robin lifted up a hand to brush a stray curl off Nancy’s sweaty forehead, frowning.
“It’s me?” Robin copied, before remembering her previous revelation. “Ah. It’s me.”
“It’s you,” Nancy nodded seriously. She slumped forwards, head coming to crash against Robin’s head. Both arms came up to circle around Nancy’s waist, holding her upright and close to her. They fit perfectly. She pressed a tentative kiss to Nancy’s messy curls, stealing one indulgent sniff of her perfume.
“It’s you, too,” Robin said, praying she understood what she meant. Nancy giggled as Robin started to walk her up the steps. Luckily she was fairly easy to carry, practically going ragdoll in Robin’s willing hands.
“I’d hope so,” Nancy’s voice was muffled. But Robin could feel her smile against her sweater.
“Don’t crack your heads and die!” Dustin shouted from the bottom of the steps. Robin rolled her eyes. She barely tripped going up the stairs, thankfully. Maybe alcohol made her more coordinated. Maybe she just felt too good to care. It was probably impossible to have a bad night with Nancy Wheeler hanging off your arm, anyway.
Especially when she was that close. And she smelled that good. And she kissed Robin goodnight, a big smacking kiss on open, eager lips before they passed out in tandem with the boys at the foot of her bed.

I only see gf/bf ones out there and I just love him sm
Where reader gets nightmares(never had had a good dream before) and she can't wake up from them so in the morning when she does wake up she wakes up in a cold sweat?
This is literally me and I never see shit like this on Tumblr or Wattpad so it's be nice to have me some comfort🥹
Jonathan like comforts her and calls all the kids and like Steve, and Nancy to come over and they all have this huge sleepover. They make a huge tent inside their house with blankets(reader and Jonathan live alone)
And they all sleep in there (ofc Jonathan and reader sleep next to each other)
And she wakes up super late and when she wakes up, Jonathan is still by her side and the kids have gone home by then and they just cuddle away because she finally had a good dream
She just talks about it all day and he's just so happy and he's smiling the entire time
IS IT TOO MUCH? you honestly done have to write this because of how long it is. I just write a little then more comes to my head and I write more🥹
I am so sorry the JJ fic made you cry. It really was an emotional thing to write. This request is literally the cutest thing ever though so hopefully, it can make you feel better. <3
Peaceful - Jonathan Byers
"I won't forget the feeling of staying up with you, despite the space between us. I've never felt this close to someone, what if you're my weakness?" - Gracie Abrams
Tumblr media
You were Jonathan Byers' pride and joy, and the day he asked you to marry him, he was so worried you would turn him down. The thought of it raged around his head and left him scared beyond measure, but when he finally got around to asking, you'd said yes. You said yes, with tears streaming down your cheeks as joy consumed you both, and all seemed well between you. And it was, but even then, with everything going right in your life, you still had the nightmares. They plagued you, an inescapable thing that chased you at all hours of the night, and no matter how hard Jonathan would try, he could never wake you. They scared him half to death sometimes, when you would cry out or call his name in such a desperate tone whilst trapped within sleep. You were frightened by them more so, and every morning, you would wake with the memory of just how horrible your night had been. Jonathan would always be beside you when you awoke, even if it made him late for work to do so. He loved you far more than he loved his job and didn't care for keeping it if it meant he had to leave you alone in some of your most vulnerable moments.
But it was one night's bad dream in particular that left you shaking when you the morning came. It was horrible and recalling it when you shot upright, a cold sweat dampening the sheets beneath you, almost made you cry. Your breathing was shallow as you sat up in your bed and when Jonathan pulled you into his arms you didn't protest. You knew it was him without a doubt, the feeling of him near you unmatched by anything else, and as he embraced you, you found it just that bit harder not to break down. You'd dreamt that Jonathan had been taken, a Demogorgon dragging him into the upside down whilst you were left to scream after him, unable to move. You were stuck in one place, paralyzed and watching the scene unfold, and it was by far one of the worst night terrors you'd ever had. And with Jonathan holding you now, the thought of losing him became all the more terrifying than it was before.
That was what made you cry. You did it silently, tears falling from your eyes as your breath caught in your throat, and Jonathan kept you close, holding you throughout it all and whispering sweet words, anything he could, to calm you down. It worked eventually, and when you parted from him, you could see the concern in his eyes. He loved you too much to watch you suffer like this, and with every bad dream you had, his heart ached further. But today was Jonathan's day off, and he'd be damned if he wouldn't create a masterful plan to make you feel better.
And that is how Jonathan ended up calling his little brother Will, planning out something that just might make your nightmares go away. Will was all in with the idea and grouped the rest of the party together whilst Jonathan got into contact with the others around your age. He called Steve, Nancy, and Robin one at a time, and broached the idea to each of them, and when they heard what had been going on, they were more than happy to help.
Tumblr media
You'd gone shopping for the afternoon, gathering up some essential items for your near-empty new house that you shared with Jonathan, and when you got back, you were beyond surprised to see what was behind the door. Inside your home were a bunch of smiling faces, all with their own pillows and blankets ready to spend the night. It startled you, but when Jonathan approached, planting a sweet kiss on your cheek, everything felt that much better.
"They're all spending the night, I figured a little fun and some company might take your mind off things." He wraps an arm around you, pulling you into a hug as the others set up their things, and you nod into his chest, so grateful for the setting before you.
It's more fun than you ever thought it could be, and Jonathan pulled out all the stops when it came to the extraordinary sleepover. It was almost possible to believe that he'd stolen every blanket and pillow from the town of Hawkins, your house full of them as everyone participated in making the biggest blanket fort known to man. Dustin insists that he be the head architect, instructing everyone on how to correctly place the pillows for the best structural integrity, all the while Max and Lucas bully him for taking such a thing so seriously. Nancy puts herself in charge of making snacks, disappearing off into the kitchen without a second thought despite your protests for her company, and when she returns, she has two batches of chocolate chip cookies ready and warm for everyone to eat. That's the snack break everyone takes before heading back into the intense building process of the fort, where Robin decides that fairy lights are nessacary to complete the masterpiece. She's right about it, too, because when you've strung them up all around, it truly is perfect.
"You know, if you'd all listened to my instructions, we could have made the pillow chimney work." It's Dustin, still critiquing the blanket house despite its beauty. His comment makes you laugh, even more so when Max replies, the girl curled up between the legs of her boyfriend, Lucas.
"I swear to god Dustin if you ruin our fort unveiling with your stupid comments, I will cut you." The redhead looks deadly serious, though you think she's too comfortable with Lucas to actually move. It shuts Dustin up anyway, and you get comfortable beside Jonathan, curling up in the blankets that are left over from the fort as the night draws nearer. The fairy lights glow brighter as the sky outside darkens and it is something so beautiful that you aren't afraid to close your eyes. So, as the others gather around, prepping for sleep in the giant fort themselves, you let your eyelids slip shut, head on Jonathan's chest as you listen to his gentle breaths. It's peaceful for the first time in months, and as you drift off you think that nothing can feel better.
When you wake up, though, you realize there is something that can be. That night, the night of the great sleepover, pillow fort fiasco, you had a dream. A good one that had you opening your eyes in the morning without the fear of the previous night's events. It was so startling to you that once you fully gathered your bearings, you shot upright as though you had, in fact, had one of your common nightmares. Jonathan sits up as soon as you do, grasping your shoulders in concern, only for you to turn to him with one of the widest smiles he's ever seen grace your lips.
"You okay, baby?" he gives your shoulders a squeeze, but seeing you happy warms him deep inside. He smiles too, the expression slowly growing when you speak.
"I had a dream, a good one." It seems so impossible, but there you are awake after a good night's sleep. A really good night's sleep. It amazes you but you're beyond happy, and the pleasant emotions that run through your veins as you recall what you can about the dream are such a foreign feeling, but you love the way it does feel, and you never want it to stop.
"That's so great," Jonathan pulls you into him, and you hug him just like you have a thousand times before on mornings like this, except this time everything is perfect, you're happy, and you're comfortable.
"Wait, where are the others?" Your eyes drift to the wide empty space of the fort you're in, free of all your other friends. There's a breathy laugh released from Jonathan as he holds you close, mumbling against your hair.
"You slept for a while, honey. They all went home."
"Oh," The word leaves you softly before you realize what a good night you had, and your mood picks up once more. You shuffle around in Jonathan's embrace, kneeling in front of him as you hold his hands in yours. "My dream was so sweet, you were there and so were the kids and your mom too—" and just like that you're off, rambling on about the first good dream you've had in far too long. You think about it for the rest of the day too, and when you and Jonathan go to get lunch, you bring it up again. You just can't believe it happened, and Jonathan can't either, his cheeks aching from the smile he's held for the remainder of the day. He's never seen you this happy and content with the night you'd had, and it brings him a sense of peace that there's a chance you could have many more nights like it in the future.
He's in awe of the smile you carry and the way you cling to him with such joy as you walk through the streets of Hawkins. He loves the way you're so excited to sleep again, in the hopes you'll have another dream with him in it, and can't help but stop in the street just to kiss you. Because he needs to show you in some way just how happy he is that you are happy too, and kissing you is the best way he knows how. You don't object to the affection, and it's no surprise that this is one of the best days you've ever had. You hope for many more like it.

Stories Chapter 8
chapter 1 chapter 2 chapter 3 chapter 4 chapter 5 chapter 6 chapter 7
Summary: Steve finds his own way to making his rooms his own, by inviting everyone around
the penultimate chapter
/\/\
The house wasn't finished and with every room where furniture was changed now the painting was all done, Steve felt more uncertain just as much as he felt like the house was becoming a home. It just didn't feel like his yet.
The dining room felt like it belonged to Hellfire, but after Robin heard that thought a dinner party was arranged.
The kitchen had always been Steve's or felt like that anyway. Even when his parents came home and sometimes tried to rearrange it to whatever taste they'd heard recently he'd put it back to his liking as soon as they left.
Using that to relax him before spending time in the redecorated rooms worked as a bridge to helping him view them as his own.
"So this isn't meant to be some big fancy deal, right?" Nancy asked as she and Jonathan were let in, looking around.
Steve grinned, "If anything it's a group date. Robin invited Vicky too and Eddie should be here soon, but it's just Robin's way to get me used to the new rooms via a dinner party."
"Better not mention you avoid the pool or she'll be insisting on constant pool parties." Jonathan teased, gesturing further into the house. "Want us to wait in the living room while you finish cooking or do you need any help?"
"Go distract Robs from trying to help please. She'll be causing a fire if she tries to help too much I swear." Steve grinned, laughing when a cry of protest came from the kitchen.
"Sorted, we'll keep her distracted." Nancy nodded, a smirk forming.
It was a small gathering, but getting to host, being the one at the head of the table (at Eddie's insistence when he tried not to be) and just laughing with his friends as they tried to copy the poses Eddie and Will had painted them in made it feel more like his home than any paint or furniture could.
The bathroom should have been the last thing to be finished. It wasn't just repainting or changing furniture after all. It included getting plumbers in and measurements being taken before any changes could be made and then there was the structural change added for Steve's bath to be lowered slightly. That did amuse everyone a little when they could now see where the ceiling was lowered for the plumbing and the tub when in the right room downstairs.
Essentially though it made Steve believe it was his from the start because the change being arranged was a nightmare of stress and letting strangers through his room and in and out of his house constantly over a couple of days.
And that was enough for him to make sure his own room wouldn't have the furniture changed until after it was done.
Plus he already knew how to make the space full of good memories and would see anyone he wanted included at some point while working.
"So I'm planning a spa night next week. Everything in the bathroom should be finished and set according to the plumbers and you're coming." Steve stated, nodding at the stunned look Will was giving him. "I've already checked with Joyce it's okay and as long as I get you home before 11 you're good to come."
Will still looked hasitant as he asked, "So who else is? And why me?"
"Cause this redecoration wouldn't be half as good without your murals and just Robs and Eddie. We're making face masks and lip balm. Having pedicures or something. I'm still deciding but it's going to be a spa night just to relax."
"And paint our nails." Robin agreed, coming back over to the counter where she'd been reshelving videos. "He included that, right?"
"Not yet. He also hasn't told us when he's picking us up." Max called, her head appearing from behind a shelf a moment later to Steve's surprise since he didn't know she was in the store, let alone so close.
He still huffed in response. "You can't just invite yourself along."
Will glanced between them, "But she can if I'd feel weird being the only younger teen with you 3, right? Besides you already paid me for the paintings. You don't have to invite me to anything else."
"Okay. 5 for spa night on Friday. I'll fetch you both around 5:30 and get you home on time. No, you aren't making this a sleepover Max. Thank Will for getting to invite yourself." Steve agreed, gesturing for the kids to talk and straightening as the door chimed for another customer coming in.
Even while driving the 2 kids to his, Steve was muttering over the things he thought would make a spa night perfect and that they'd be able to improvise for themselves.
"Have you done this before? Your list of home spa ideas is just getting longer." Will asked, snickering slightly at the idea of Steve having done it while still a jock ruling his school.
Steve met his eyes in the rear view mirror, amusement in them too. "Carol was quite insistent that my house should be taken over for her friends to have their own spa nights a few times. She could forbid Tommy from making it a party but could never kick me out of my house, so yeah I've done it a few times but not with anyone else for years now."
"King Steve was treated like one of the girls? Is that how you got the sleeps with everyone rep, cause your charm doesn't seem effective." Max teased.
"Hey! Don't assume you know who I was. The Harrington charm just doesn't need using constantly to exist, okay. Besides, there's no insult there. Those girls are scary in the amount of skin and hair care they know." He countered but grinned as he pulled up outside his house. "Besides I could have you smearing anything on your skin tonight. I think you want me to know what I'm doing."
"I definitely do. I don't trust these magazines Nancy keeps suggesting Robin read. Isn't Nance meant to be a scary journalist?" Eddie agreed, somehow knowing what was being said even as he was the one to open Steve's door.
That got Steve laughing even more. "Only when she's got a mission. The magazines were her way of practicing. She'll rewrite anything to make it more serious or empowering for her specifically. Not sure why she's decided Robs likes them though."
"It's how she knows to bond with other girls. Apparently her and Barb used to trade them and laugh over obvious lies or gossip that seems more suited to the cafeteria than anything trying to report news." Robin called from where she was hanging out the door. "Enough on that though, I want a face mask and a pedicure."
That was enough to get everyone inside, following Steve up to his bathroom while Will and Max clammered with questions over if they were doing each others or if there was a plan for spa treatments.
As Eddie took the kids home and Steve focused now on washing Robin's hair, everyone could agree that it was an evening well spent and they'd be keeping their eyes out for things to bring to future spa nights.

Stancy week Day 3: Favourite scene
It had to be this one 😭❤️
I don't think I could actually explain how much this scene effected me but I'll try.
It was so beautiful, so touching and I sobbed the whole way through. I knew the second robin ran off that Steve and Nancy were about to have an important conversation. I love how it begins with a light and more playful dialogue. Nancy smiling at Steve is the sweetest. I love their energy together. Nancy teasing him " that explains so much" loved that!
Then Steve decides to speak truthfully. I didn't expect Steve to say everything he did. The fact that he lays it all on the line. He's so vulnerable. He doesn't hold back. He's so honest about how much he needed Nancy to break his heart which is an incredibly selfless admission.
The way that he takes the moment to explain to her ( through the cutest metaphor) that he is continuously changing. The man isn't even done yet. He'll keep growing and becoming more of the person I think Nancy always believed him capable of being. He wants her to see him as he is now and be together as they both grow alongside eachother.
What really gets me is him turning to Nancy and saying "if we were meeting for the first time right now, part of me thinks we would have made it". I lost it at that point. Because he is so right. And I think that's what the Duffers now see with Stancy. Steve is so brave to say those words. Though he doesn't say that he loves her, he basically does with those words. He wants to try again. He knows he's a better person now and that their relationship would be so different. He sees their endgame and I just adore it.
I love that we get to see Nancy's reaction to everything he says in this scene. Her eyes are so expressive. You can feel all the regret, sadness and longing in her eyes. The way she sighs after he says " for giving my head the biggest thump of its life... two years ago." it's the first time they've spoken about their break up. They acknowledge the pain of what happened. It's such a mature conversation. She listens to him to attentively. I love that fact that they are walking together. I've had such deep conversations on long walks with people in my life, so it just felt to true and real.
And the admission of "you're there, you've always been there" is simply one of the most romantic lines I've ever heard. I think it will become a foundation of who they are.
Its first love, becoming second chance love, becoming last love.
Call me cliché but I kinda like that it's left on a cliffhanger before Nancy could answer. I think it'll give her time to think and digest everything Steve has told her and how she feels about it. Then we'll get an amazing crying-nancy-confession-scene in season 5 and the Stancy kiss that'll have been worth all the wait 💕
Anyway, I could go on and on, more than I already have. All I am sure of is that I'll be watching this scene 10000 more times before season 5 airs and love it each and every time.
❤️

i do believe that sta/ncy suffers from a huge case of two people just standing next to each other like i genuenly can't remember a single memorable conversation they've had besides that insane love confession in the woods
literally i just cannot understand the appeal and can't even describe how ... BASIC i find it like i've loved some random little m/f couples sure objectively but those two don't even come CLOSE i just literally don't get it 😭😭. even typing that sentence out made me feel insane bc imagining them together in any context gives me secondhand... terror. like shipping a ruler with a pencil sharpener like what's going on. stop that. secondhand NIGHTMARE what the hell are people going hard for here. like beyond that they were presented literally to Be broken up he was Already the boyfriend. and i guess maybe if we'd seen them ... in literally any way at all actually get together to get some background some context some stakes in it all initially i would potentially understand but we DIDN'T because s2 st4ncy were literally just the backstory for j4ncy to form at least at this point 😭
like they were a high school couple that dated for like what a YEAR they are not love's greatest trial the 5 seasons of this show aren't Steve And Nancy's Road To Ending Up Together it's literally ridonkulous i don't even find it TRAGIC and dramatic the way some people do i just find it boring... anyone who likes them together is like the type of person who would have a galaxy print t-shirt. i don't find the embarrassingly stretched out love triangle back and forth cute or a tragedy or the height of romance i don't find steve being hung up on her anything other than kind of depressing but also understandable and at (most) times character assasinating which also goes for nancy as WELL like oh my god. anyone who genuinely thinks if they like for some reason end up together in season 5 a WIN for either of them well.. i worry for their mind and soul not even fucking around. it's not even like potentially funny in the divorced teenagers way it's just like okay. they dated she cheated on him they broke up he said he got over her and realised valueing building friendships and solid relationships beyond potential romantic trysts is far more worthwhile she found a new partner who she is... still dating... then for no reason at all beyond Because the world is ending they actively regressed before our very eyes whilst literally talking about crawling backwards they Crawled Backwards. then he said "i want a big family and a normal life" and she said "that sounds nice" <- has been fighting for the past 2 years against being pigeonholed into a suburbanite housewife nightmare.
i dunno i think i'm like 2 seconds from getting incredibly heated about it if i think about it more it just drives me crazy ESPECIALLY when people act like this is all intentional and well thought out and not just accident after fumble after mischaracerised nosedive even though i personally do enjoy taking these scenes and interpreting them in a way that doesn't reduce nancy to "strong independent woman!!!! but her storyline will always inevitably fall back to Her Relationship With Thing One Or Thing Two" and steve to like. that he was never intended to be anything more than "nancys jerky boyfriend" despite them literally trying to flesh his character out more they chain him down at the same time he is the stagnating pillar in their rotted storyline and the only way for it to HAVE a nice conclusion would them being FARRRRR away from one another maybe after some actual closure. and i don't find it compelling i don't find Those stakes to be interesting or satisfying let alone even ?! HEALTHY. anyway...

Omg yes, I've been part of lot of fandoms and most ending were like: a) the show got cancelled and the characters never got justice or ending for that matter, or unexpected cancellation so they had to tied up loose end to the season that in pre-prodution so most of the plotlines were never explained or they games of thrones type of ending, and if i am honest st started loosing sense once they decided to go the 'bigger is better - quantity over quality- which is visible in season 4, and then there you have bunch of people that will claim that everything was planned ahead even tho, stranger things was supposed to be anthology series meaning each story will be only season long and then move on to another plotline or story with different characters but Netflix/people feel in love with these characters so they kept writing for the characters that we know/love but sometimes the characters act ooc it's like those arcs were planned for different characters and they just kept the names of the characters from S1, or something like that and tbh the crew/cast seemed so enthusiastic to make this project that is homage for 80's but now it's like everyone lost passion/drive.. and you're famous on Twitter because of anon that kept going about Nancy and the kids but I'd like to add that Nancy knows those kids pre-pilot she played d&d with them but stopped playing because she grew up and high school might stressing for some and she wanted to date and stuff and there's nothing wrong with that, and she spent some part of 3 with them but considering people might forget because the show has huge gaps..
And what's your opinion on the Eddie Munson book?
yeah, i think from season 3 it became really obvious that certain plot lines and character arcs were being written to draw a bigger audience in, rather than for the benefit of the story. i don’t know if stranger things will burn down quite as badly as game of thrones, but i do agree that i think people see the duffers as… smarter than they really are? like, i’m not calling the duffers stupid or anything, but people are paying attention to tiny details that i don’t really think matter in the grand scheme of things. and though the duffers can come up with an incredible story and dynamic characters, they do have weak points. so yeah, i don’t know, i guess my attitude towards season 5 is basically just try not to get too excited, and there’s always fanfiction.
honestly, that’s kinda a boring reason. i don’t know, i feel like i’ve said more unpopular opinions before, but that’s what got people riled up? huh. anyway, thanks for telling me lol! and yeah, nancy has known the kids a long time, but it’s clear in s1 she isn’t close to them, and she doesn’t spend time with them. and people seem to think when i point that out i’m dragging nancy, which i’m not! like most of the st crew, they hang out when the world is ending, and clearly care about each other. but they don’t go out of their way to spend time together otherwise.
it’s actually kinda funny though, because steve antis have gone from calling steve pathetic for only have 14 year olds for friends, to desperately trying to prove that they are nancy’s friends. like i thought that was pathetic? pick a lane.
and i did speak about the eddie book when we first heard about it! but basically i don’t care much for it. i think it’s a money grab, and i can’t imagine the story being that entertaining because… it’s about eddie trying to get out of hawkins, and we know he doesn’t. he dies. what a pointless book. (oh and i know a lot of steddie’s are annoyed about him maybe having a female love interest, and i do not care about that at all, lmao. the book’s not even canon! and even if it was, i didn’t care about the duffers canon before, i’m not gonna start now.)

WIP Wednesday Game
All right, it's that time of week! I've gotten a lot accomplished on Wednesdays in the last month or so, and I'm hoping to keep that train rolling! Thanks in part to this time, I've managed to post three things in the last week. Send me some asks to keep me moving along!
As always, credit to @kedreeva
Here’s how it works:
In a reblog (or new post w/ rules attached), post up to five (5) filenames of your WIPs; not titles, file names.
Post a snippet from one of them. Snippet must be words you wrote in the last 7 days. We’re posting progress here. If you haven’t made any, go make some and come back to post!
After you’ve posted, people can send you an ask with one of your file names. You must then write 3 sentences in that file. If the filename is one you can't share from (for example, an event fic), write 3 sentences on it anyway, and then 3 more on another to share.
That’s it! You can invite others to join in, or just post. If you tag me in your post, I will send you an ask request! Also, if you send me an ask, I'll look on your page to see if you'd like one back. This works best when we help each other!
If you’re reading this, you’re invited!
If you see someone posting a WIP Wednesday Game snippet, send them an ask! Make them write.

“Having fun?” he asked, preening a bit as he looked down at them.
Jonathan’s leg had ended up over Nancy’s knee, and she had a possessive hand over his thigh. Argyle’s arm came up around her on the back of the couch, his fingers twining into Jonathan’s hair to have a hand on him too. Eddie didn’t know a lot of trios, but he’d made the assumption that Nancy was the center here. Clearly that had been wrong.
“You’re fun,” Argyle answered back with a laugh. Both Nancy and Jonathan looked toward him fondly. “Want to get high?”
“Argyle!” Nancy admonished, but she had to cover her mouth to even attempt to look intimidating.
“As much as I would like to say yes, I am on the job,” Eddie told him.
Argyle shrugged and lifted his hand to gesture to their friends. “Somebody should get him a drink, though. No alcohol, I’m guessing.”
“You don’t have to do that,” Eddie said, but he didn’t move to stop the hot guy from earlier as he headed toward the kitchen.
Jonathan waved a hand. “Follow Steve. He’ll take care of you.”
Normally Eddie made it a rule to never, ever separate from the main group at things like this. It was too much of a liability to himself and the company to be alone with someone. Maybe it was because they were queer, maybe it was because everyone seemed so chill. Whatever the reason, Eddie shrugged and followed after Steve.
Alone in the kitchen with a client’s party guest was strictly a no. Still, Eddie leaned against the counter as he surveyed Steve and the drink situation.
“What’s your poison?” the man asked, tilting his head to the side.
“Just water’s fine,” Eddie answered. He probably shouldn’t but let his eyes wander up and down Steve’s form anyway. Steve was being polite enough to pretend not to notice.
“Thanks,” he said as Steve handed over a full glass. Eddie downed it in a matter of moments.
“Wow, you’re thirsty,” he commented, then flushed as Eddie winked at him.
“Thirsty work,” he teased.
“I guess so.” Steve’s eyes raked across his body, but it didn’t feel like the lewd gazes typically leveled Eddie’s way. It was almost like he was trying to understand something, puzzle the pieces together.
But Eddie didn’t want to be a puzzle.
“Thanks for the drink,” he said, setting the glass down and heading back into the main room.

Hi! U might have seen me lurking but I just wanted to shoot u an ask and say, JU is one of my absolute favorite fics I've ever read for so many reasons. It's such a heartfelt and kind character study on top of just a well paced and thought out retelling of the show, Steve is flawed and sweet and funny and just Good, with such a bonkers way of thinking and it makes me love him so much more than I already do (which isn't Hard honestly haha) he also comes across autistic/adhd, something I've hc'd him being for a long time bc I'm that myself, so i see elements of that in JU. I'm also a fan of your prose, I think you have such a way with building relationships that come across as very human and soft while also having a Bite to them, like Steve and Billy, a character I've never totally liked, but he has such a voice in JU that it's like Of Course Steve can't help but try to be kind even though he's cautious, not just bc he's an empath. I can't wait to see how that relationship, as well as Dozens of other relationships progress, Steve and Robin(!!), Hopper, El (sibling dance 🕺💃), Tommy-Carol, Nancy, Jonathan, Dustin, Max, all the other kiddos (maybe Eddie too?? *wink wink*) and now that I'm thinking of it Joyce!! Listen if his new dad is Hopper, Joyce gets to be his mom by virtue of association with Hop. Another thing I wanted to say quickly was, and obviously this was intentional, but every mention, or allusion to, comparison to, just general meta about Rabbits is chefs kiss. Like the callbacks to Watership Down, It's such a good narrative tool, its always given me the chance to pause and think about the work, especially with the killing of the rabbit, which conjured thoughts to me about the loss of innocence in that moment, like is the rabbit something he's killing within himself? Or is Steve himself the rabbit? And what does it mean later that he can regulate his emotions enough to live within the rabbit, and it's babies? Besides lying to himself that he's "normal" He also has given himself (?) Room to grow? In other words, though it may be scarred, since you alluded to the dead rabbit again, Steve and his innocence, (and I'm using innocence as a way to define a lot of things here like self love and a life where he'll allow himself to grow something in the planter boxes), are allowed to take root again, since you also stated that the grass above the buried rabbit is growing green and prospering thanks to this dead rabbit, not to mention the lives those babies will now get to lead, so its like, Steve's past experiences don't have to harm him anymore, they can lead to Growth. Steve is both the rabbit, and the thing that can kill, and protect the rabbit, Run Bunny indeed Billy Hargrove. ANYWAY I hope to Heaven that any of that makes sense, thank you so much for posting Jackrabbit Underneath, it's been a real light in the darkness and I have serious writers envy, I'm wishing you well, and extending an unlimited invitation to reach out for literally anything you need in the future, yelling about Steve Harrington being one of those things of course 💖💖💖
I have no clue what happened with Tumblr, but for some reason this ask kept appearing then disappearing in my inbox? So sorry for it being almost a month late (ooofff) Also this reply got long so it's under the cut!
I'm really happy you've been enjoying!!! It's so nice to hear that you enjoy the pacing and that my portrayal of Steve is coming across well! I head canon Steve as ADHD and I've tried to incorporate that into JU so I'm happy that's working. I really like the description of "soft with some Bite to them" for the relationships!! I feel like that's how I try to write Steve in general, so it makes sense that his relationships would also follow that.
Haha I am definitely now picturing Steve and El doing the sibling dance video with Kali. I wish I could shove Eddie into the main plot - he'll probably make a cameo because I love him. I actually originally thought Joyce would be in this more, but I realized talking to the mom of the guy your girlfriend left you for would probably be weird for him, so Maggie ended up taking up more of the role. But now he has the excuse of Hopper to hang around her!
I'm glad the rabbit motif is working! Steve killing the rabbit was definitely supposed to be a death of innocence moment - or at least a death of ignorance. It marks the start of him getting involved in the upside down and thus moving away from his high school persona and the (slow) break down of his denial. The return to woods emphasized both how Steve's gotten better with his powers after practicing but also, like you said, his potential for growth in the future (both in his powers and personally). He takes comfort in the (literally found) family of rabbits and protects them even if it's from himself as a sort of "future Steve goals". Meanwhile past Steve, the dead rabbit, is helping the grass grow - while he can't go back to who he was or change the experiences that hurt him, they're still important parts of his life that he can use to create his future.
Also don't worry - it definitely made sense and it was really interesting to read your thoughts! Thank you so much for reading and sending this ask <3!!!

Why I'm Taking a Break & Insights with Distance
I know. It’s only been a week… if that. But it’s been a good week and I have a few things to get off my chest and this seems like the best place to do it. I've found talking about this helps so here we are. This post is merely therapeutic and at most may help some other fans going through something similar. I’m sure as hell not tagging it.
It’s a little bit of downer so if you’re trying to keep positive, “Jonathan and Nancy are fine and will totally end up together!” thoughts, keep scrolling.
So, what ultimately “broke” me was the Duffer Brother’s Collider interview quote where they discuss things coming full circle from season 1 in season five including “Steve and Nancy, and her relationship with Jonathan where things are not fully resolved.” This hit me hard because of the way it is phrased. To me, this shows the creators view Steve and Nancy as characters and Jonathan as a passive obstacle to Nancy’s character arc. This also shows me that the love triangle is 100% not done and will be dealt with in season 5.
And I must say, through processing this season without fandom, I will admit I haven’t been happy with Stranger Things in a while and I was solely watching for Jancy. I was no stranger to stating my distaste for ST3 (which in hindsight was “amazing” compared to ST4) and many of my issues with that season were amplified in ST4. Namely how ‘big’ everything has become. I miss feeling like the plot and conflicts in Stranger Things could have happened in some remote, small midwestern town in the 80’s without the general public’s knowledge. I liked that the plot was contained to mostly affecting our main characters and that the characters drove the plot. Ever since the end of season 2, this concept has been lost in the show. It seems too big and is completely “unrealistic” in the sense that it spans so far past small-town sci-fi that it’s unrecognizable. Remember when El flipped a van and that was a huge iconic moment? Yeah, that wouldn’t even phase a ST4 viewer.
Also, there are many instances of plot driving the character’s actions (honestly, the entire love triangle shit in ST4) where characters lose aspects of themselves to drive the plot. I think this is why I was so put off with Nancy’s characterization in ST4 because though there are moments I love her, they specifically withheld her emotions and reactions to Steve to help move the love triangle forward which was a huge disservice to her character. Nancy has always had messy emotions and I have always loved that about her but not allowing her to express herself in many scenes just felt janky.
Anyways, after seeing how tired and withdrawn I was (from over analyzing everything AND from being sad about the direction ST4 took), my partner sat me down, listened to my ramblings, and dropped two hard truths: (I) good shows with long runs turn to crap all the time and (II) character decisions don’t have to make sense (even though they should) if it’s what the show runners want.
Keeping all that in mind and after processing things more, I can honestly say I do not know what the plan is with the love triangle but I know no amount of in-depth analyses of the show or interviews right now will give us any answers. No analysis I could’ve done after ST3 would lead me to believe they would bring back the love triangle but they did. I also find it incredibly frustrating but intentional that we get little insight into Nancy’s perspective of the love triangle (mainly her reactions and feelings towards Steve beyond physical attraction and general friendliness). The emotional whiplash this season regarding the love triangle is so confusing and, again, I believe that to be intentional. But I did not enjoy it.
Even though in my heart of hearts I think Jonathan and Nancy can work out their differences and they should end up together or at least break up and get back together later in life, I have to prepare myself for the equally likely chance that Nancy ends up with Steve, Jonathan, or by herself. But at the end of the day I want the show to do right by her character and I do not trust them to do that.
I’m serious when I say I wouldn’t be surprised if the Nancy’s final scene is her in Steve in a Winnebago with a bunch of kids because if that’s what the producers/show runners want and that’s what they perceive the fans want, that’s what they’re going to give us even though it will be a huge middle finger to Nancy as a character and the first 3 seasons of character development to both Steve and Nancy.
Not to go comparing Stranger Things to other shows, but the whole thing (in regards to the love triangle) is giving me huge How I Met Your Mother ending vibes. I was a casual fan of HIMYM while it was on (not involved in the fandom at all and yes I agree the show has not aged well and looking back many of the jokes are gross) but that ending caused such a visceral anger to the point where I still cannot not go back and rewatch any episodes without seething. So I don't. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google it, it was a notoriously bad ending and there are many, many articles about it. Like, I can’t believe they are Ted Mosby-ing Steve Harrington…
So if I haven’t enjoyed the direction ST has been going and I no longer enjoy the way they're portraying Jancy, the one thing I was watching for, why do I still care?
I shouldn't. I’m honestly trying not to care. I’m trying to take steps away so I care less and can truly accept ST2 as my preferred ending and not care at all about ST5. In short, I feel I need to distance myself from the fandom because I need to care less about it. I also need to learn how to reject canon and embrace my favorite fics as their ending instead (never my strong suit, I have always struggled with rejecting the canon).
I have decided to step away from this blog for a bit because it has stopped being my happy place to distract me from real world struggles. I want to enjoy these characters with other fans and not have to engage in a multi-year ship war and anxious analyses of every scene and interview clip. This does not bring me joy. This makes me miserable.
And after a horrible couple of years (geopolitically, pandemically, and at times, even personally) I was devastated that my happy place was also harpooned unexpectedly and I suddenly had no other effective coping mechanism.
This is truly the darkest timeline. This is the Bad Place.
But I am good. Way, way better than I thought I would be after a week. I have been able to laugh about it a bit (mostly about how stupid the love triangle decision is and why they are doing it) and I can honestly say I am enjoying being more present in my life and with my loved ones.
Fandom, though, has been one of my greatest joys throughout my life so I hope things calm down over the next few months and I can continue to care less and less about ST5 and the show canon so this blog can go back to being my happy place. Because I truly do miss hearing all y’all’s thoughts and connecting over these really wonderful characters.
