9. the most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic

Oh honestly I think the biggest rabbithole I went down for fic research was regarding skin layers and wound healing (for my Gale/Tav whump fic, Catharsis). I looked at diagrams, read some Pub Med articles, and consulted my friend in med school (shout-out to my homie Darren). I thought about skimming through some of the cadaver dissection manuals he gave me, but I figured those wouldn't be as useful for like. Actual live bodies askdjkjh (though I have used them for other projects in the past)

22. do you ever worry about public reaction to what you’re writing? how do you get past that?

YES I CONSTANTLY WORRY. And the solution is: Nothing? As in, I don't get past it. Which is kiiiiiiind of why my current wip is still a wip, despite me having first drafted it last month (it's sitting pretty at ~1600 words right now and hasn't even gotten to the part that I wanted to get to, aka the whole reason I started writing the fic in the first place).

If anyone has any solutions to overcoming these feelings, please let me know T_T I'm scared because this topic is very near and dear to my heart, i.e., it is a source of comfort and happiness for me and I dislike showing these parts of me because it invites vulnerability (and by extension, unkind behaviors. Because it's weird).

I've thought about posting this fic to a different pseud, but it sounds like people who are subscribed to my ao3 will get notified about it regardless. And then I've thought about posting anonymously, or making a burner account, but let's be real - the topic is so niche that people would just be able to figure out it was me anyway. So I don't really know what to do lol

the thing that i really. REALLY appreciate with kny is that they do follow up on their characters. (for the most part at least) everything connects and we really get to see the characters grow as people and just. yes character arcs!! yes!!

hu tao, also gold accents, mahogany wood, smoky things, spider lilies unfurling in the dark. but it would be cool to edit her art so it’s more high contrast (darker outfit and hair) with stark black plum branches against winter snow

#anywayssssss it was fun tho so. a win is a win #i cleared up a TON of shit w/ the wilbur's past timeline in terms of when he met tommy (& tubbo) vs when he had fundy and stuff #cause now that fundy being born in lmanberg was retconned a while back (thank god) i needed to fix that up #took a long time bcuz i kept adding stuff and being like wait that doesnt work. the amount of times i had to pull up a calculator to figure #out age stuff T_T anyways wilbur hung out w tommy & tubbo when he was like 22 and they were 14-15 for like a year #where they just kinda lived w him at phils house (phil was off adventuring w techno so he never met tommy or tubbo before the smp)#and then they left to go do their own thing and then soon after that fundy was born #so yah. and then i just wrote up some stuff about how bad found sapnap and how skeppy factored into all of that #bad found sapnap as he was leaving the nether to seek out his soulmate (demon thing. would take too long 2 explain here)#and just kinda took him along w him. he met skeppy when sapnap was about 2 but skeppy didnt really participate in raising him until he was #like 5ish cause yknow like. he and bad JUST met lmfao. like they might be soulmates but still #but by then theyre like together and living together and stuff. so thats when he kinda takes up the mantle of sapnaps other dad lol #anyways yes fun stuff!!!!! love love coming up w this stuff even if it can be tricky sometimes #serena.txt

I wasn't going to post anything abt this at first, but I've been writing a fanfic the past few days for the first time in like over ten years, and I'm just so weirded out by the fact that... I'm actually enjoying writing something? I feel like I've been so burnt out by having to constantly write non-fictive essays and reports for school that I seriously don't know when I've last felt like I've enjoyed writing anything.

And then out of nowhere basically I've now been possessed by a fanfic idea. I have over 5k words written for it, but it's just the first raw version and I don't think I'm even halfway through the story.

#posting #i still remember when in late elementary school we started moving from writing fiction to writing non-fiction #i'm pretty sure we had couple assignments where we were supposed to already write non-fiction #but then there was me being a stubborn idiot and turning those assignments into fictive stories as well lmao #i think i got pretty decent grades for them anyways #but at some point i finally realised that we were expected to move on from writing stories t_t #back then i still thought i wanted to write books one day #but i truly feel that school sucked all of that excitement for writing out of me #because since middle school at least i don't think we have ever had any writing assignments where you could write fiction #it's always been essays or reports or analysis or something #to a point where i literally had a formula in high school that i used to write literally every single assignment we got #it was so boring and non-creative #but it worked really well so *shrugs*
