OK...
So for now I have no idea if that thing will make it in either the modern AU or my professionnal stuff (it won't in this form, too foreward), or both, or (probably) none.
But at least I managed to write something. Which is improvement. Even if it's just rambles. But I be it could be Newt's too. Or not ? Anyway
Are mistakes inevitable ? Probably.
Do we have to demonise mistakes ? Probably not. Certainly not.
What I know, what I believe at least, is that mistakes shouldn’t be carried by the learner. They should be carried by the teacher. Mistakes are ours. Because it’s our job as teachers to make learning smooth and easy for our students, should they be dogs or their guardians. It’s our job as teachers to divide tasks, to revise the plan, to change our approach. Our learner shouldn’t have to figure it out despite our teaching. No, our teaching should be thought, and reviewed as many times as needed, in order to guide each learner step by step, individually.
No, it isn’t babysitting. No, to be autonomous, you have to learn the task, as you have for anything else. Criteria after criteria. As you have to for any learning process. With differences for every learner. None competency or learning should make the learner suffer during the process. No matter if it’s physical, psychological, or emotional suffering. Or even just frustration. That’s why I believe, I’m convinced, that we have to aim for errorless learning. Learning should be easy for the student. And fun. Not forgetting that it makes final performances better (and faster).
Let’s try to remember ourselves that even with the use of positive reinforcement, training can be coercitive and “violent” for the learner. Let’s try to avoid that. Let’s try to do better. For our learner’s sake.
