The iPhone SE, previously known as iPhone 9 is Apple's upcoming new iPhone, which was supposed to arrive in March but was pushed back due to the current pandemic and is now allegedly coming on April 15. That rumored announcement has now been made more likely as a placeholder page for the phone appeared on Chinese e-tailer JD's website. Interestingly, the page references the device as the iPhone 9 and not as the rumored iPhone SE (2020). The placeholder page doesn't reference any specs (outside of the lack of 5G and the use of a Lightning connector), nor does it specify a launch date. It does, however, serve to solidify that the phone is indeed coming soon. The iPhone SE (2020) will be an iPhone 8 remake with a 4.7-inch screen (with 2020-defying bezels), Touch ID home button, Apple A13 Bionic chipset, a single 12MP camera on the rear and an around $399 price. Apple’s long-anticipated entry-level iPhone tipped to launch as the iPhone 9 might actually come with a different name according to the latest rumors. A report obtained by 9to5Mac claims that the official marketing name for the new device will simply be iPhone SE with Apple referencing it as the 2020 version. This is, of course, a nod to the first-gen iPhone SE from 2016 and a common practice in Apple’s naming policy. In addition, a screen protector listed on Apple's official online store also confirms the iPhone SE moniker and hints at the nearing launch. The actual protector is also said to fit iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models as well which confirms the new device will sport an identical 4.7-inch display. Another new detail from the report is that the new iPhone SE will be offered with up to 256GB storage. Previous speculations stated the phone will only be offered in 64GB or 128GB trims. In addition, we learn the new budget iPhone will launch in black, white and red colors. We also get confirmation on the five official Apple cases for the device which include black and white silicone cases alongside red, black and midnight blue leather options. The report also confirms the new iPhone SE will come with the A13 Bionic chipset. Pricing is expected to start at $399. There are also rumors about an alleged 5.5-inch version of the new iPhone SE but we don’t get any new info on this model. The upcoming Apple iPhone 9, the successor to the iPhone SE from 2016, has been rumored for a long time now, and it looks like we're finally getting very close to its official introduction. A few weeks ago a report talked about the phone being delayed indefinitely because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but apparently Apple may have had a change of heart. According to a new report, the company held an internal meeting to discuss how to proceed, and the conclusion of said meeting is that the iPhone 9 will get official on April 15. It will then become available on April 22. It's unclear if the company plans to hold an online event for the launch, or will simply issue a press release and be done with it. The iPhone 9 will allegedly start at $349 or $399, thus being an intriguing new entry into the mid-range price wars. Design-wise, expect a blast from the past, with huge screen bezels and a physical, capacitive Touch ID sensor on the front, below the display (but not under it, mind you). As far as the release timeframe goes, since we're still globally dealing with a pandemic, it pretty much goes without saying that Apple's plans might change yet again. It seems the launch of the long-rumored successor to 2016’s iPhone SE might come sooner than expected. According to new reports, the iPhone 9 may launch as early this week as evident by the April 5 merchandising date for a case that made its way to Best Buy. The box for the Urban Armor Gear protective case clearly states it’s designed for the New iPhone 4.7", 2020 and we can see it features a similarly-sized camera cutout as other iPhone 7 and 8 cases. Apple introduced its latest iPad Pros and Macbook Air last week and given that the iPhone 9 is not a flagship, it could very well see a similar low-key press release only launch. The new budget iPhone is expected to be joined by a larger 5.5-inch version likely called iPhone 9 Plus. Both phones will recycle the iPhone 8 design and will come with the A13 Bionic chipset, 3GB RAM, 64/128GB storage and a single rear camera.
