Price & Support Starting off with the positives. The most motivating factor for buying the iPhone SE 2020 is its exceptional battery life. Yes, we know most of you are bummed out because of its outdated design and its similarity to the iPhone 8. However, the good news is that its software will be optimized. This means you will be having possibly more screen-on time than the other high-end Apple devices. So, those of you who are using the iPhone 7, 6S, or even 5S and considering an upgrade then now is possibly the best time to do so. Another big plus is that the iPhone SE 2020 will be supported by Apple for a long time. It will be having all the latest new features; dark mode on iOS 13, widgets on iOS 14, and who knows what iOS 15 will bring and so on and so forth. Camera, Touch ID & Design This device's camera is something special. It recalls a 4K! What else would you expect from a low-end budget iPhone; cheaper than the iPhone 11 and iPhone 10. Simply wow. Of course not to forget, Apple has also included the long-forgotten Touch ID in the new iPhone SE 2020. This also indicates that Apple might just be looking to resurrect Touch ID for future devices. Though it has its own merits, the design that Apple has decided to go with for the iPhone SE 2020 does not seem to be a very popular choice among its users. Apple has simply recycled the iPhone 8 design. It would be unfair to say that it was unexpected but totally fair to say that it was uncalled for. For the SE series, this is definitely a redesign, and it would have been uber-popular if this phone was released back in 2016. However, in the year 2020, releasing a new phone with that design is definitely not going to win hearts. Apple would be changing something up maybe at least a redesign at the back or maybe a redesign at the front and the only difference that you can see right now is the Apple logo which is in the middle. Another noticeable thing about the new iPhone SE is that it has a really small screen and compared to Apple's flagship phones, it looks pretty outdated. We don't really think that Apple can excuse the repositioning of the Apple logo to satisfy its users.

Our final verdict on the iPhone SE is that apart from its outdated design, it is still a pretty great device and one that somewhat justifies its price tag as well. A13 Bionic Processor

The A13 Bionic processor in the new iPhone SE has plenty more benefits than just boosting the camera. Apple claims that this chip offers 2.4x faster performance than the A9 processor in the original iPhone SE, and it's 40 percent faster than the chip in the iPhone 8's A11 Bionic. Graphics should also see a dramatic improvement, as the iPhone SE is rated for up to 4 times the graphics might as the iPhone SE and twice the performance of the iPhone 8. All of the above should result in faster app launching, smoother scrolling through apps and better gameplay. You'll also be able to take advantage of a wide range of iPhone augmented reality apps. 

Depth Control A simple slider lets you blur the background as much or as little as you like — before or after you take the photo.

Portrait Lighting Choose from six studio‑quality effects, then adjust the lighting intensity to show your subject in the best possible light.

Let there be light Next‑generation Smart HDR knows a face when it sees one, and intelligently relights it to capture more natural-looking contours and skin tones. It also finesses highlight and shadow detail in the background. So every part of your photo looks amazing.

This is not just some recycled camera experience. The new iPhone SE features a 12MP camera with a f/1.8 aperture, which is similar to the iPhone XR, but Apple says that this is its best single-camera system ever. That's because the iPhone SE leverages the image signal processor and Neural Engine in the A13 bionic chip to offer computational photography benefits the iPhone 8 -- and even iPhone XR -- can't match. The front 7MP camera can take portraits with bokeh effects as well, thanks to a technology called monocular depth estimation. Last but not least, the iPhone SE can record 4K video at 60 fps, and it offers cinematic stabilization for smoother looking footage.

Battery Life and Charging The iPhone SE should offer the same long battery life as the iPhone 8, which was rated for 12 hours of Internet usage. But we'll have to see how long the device lasts on our own battery test, which involves continuous web surfing on 4G LTE, to see if the new iPhone SE can make our best phone battery life list. The good news is that the iPhone SE 2020 supports fast 18W charging, but you'll need to spring for the adapter, as the in-box charger supports only 5W. The iPhone SE also supports Qi wireless charging, and there's plenty of great options on our best wireless chargers list.

iPhone SE 2020 Outlook

Whether you're getting your first iPhone for a teenager or you simply prefer smaller phones, the iPhone SE 2020 should have what most people need for a very affordable price. The A13 Bionic chip means you won't have to worry about this phone slowing down, and it should be able to run the upcoming iOS 14 just fine. And between its Portrait Mode and Smart HDR support, the single rear camera should deliver the performance you need. Some may want to see what Google's Pixel 4a has to offer. It's rumored to cost the same $399 as the new iPhone SE and offer a bigger 5.8-inch OLED display with full HD resolution along with strong cameras of its own. But we'll have to see how it holds up in our testing.  Overall, though, the iPhone SE 2020 looks like it could be one of the best cheap phones ever.

A report obtained by 9to5Mac claims that the official marketing name for the new device will simply be iPhone SE with Apple referencing it as the 2020 version. The upcoming Apple iPhone 9, the successor to the iPhone SE from 2016, has been rumored for a long time now, and it looks like we're finally getting very close to its official introduction. A few weeks ago a report talked about the phone being delayed indefinitely because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but apparently Apple may have had a change of heart. According to a new report, the company held an internal meeting to discuss how to proceed, and the conclusion of said meeting is that the iPhone 9 will get official on April 15. It will then become available on April 22. It's unclear if the company plans to hold an online event for the launch, or will simply issue a press release and be done with it. The iPhone 9 will allegedly start at $349 or $399, thus being an intriguing new entry into the mid-range price wars. Design-wise, expect a blast from the past, with huge screen bezels and a physical, capacitive Touch ID sensor on the front, below the display (but not under it, mind you). As far as the release timeframe goes, since we're still globally dealing with a pandemic, it pretty much goes without saying that Apple's plans might change yet again. It seems the launch of the long-rumored successor to 2016’s iPhone SE might come sooner than expected. According to new reports, the iPhone 9 may launch as early this week as evident by the April 5 merchandising date for a case that made its way to Best Buy. The box for the Urban Armor Gear protective case clearly states it’s designed for the New iPhone 4.7", 2020 and we can see it features a similarly-sized camera cutout as other iPhone 7 and 8 cases. Apple introduced its latest iPad Pros and Macbook Air last week and given that the iPhone 9 is not a flagship, it could very well see a similar low-key press release only launch. The new budget iPhone is expected to be joined by a larger 5.5-inch version likely called iPhone 9 Plus.
