I'm slowly trying to get back to drawing. Those aliens kinda was inspired by seraphims from Supreme Commander and other aliens like salarians from Mass Effect and kaminoans from Star Wars. Also i rarely draw females, so i decided to practice, sorry if the alien girl look too scary. Amphibian aliens from water planet of Aquaria that located not that far from the Xenosapien homeworld of Galiopa. They life near ocean or at least near big rivers where they can usually build their naval cities, as amphibians they usually build their houses so that one part of it would be out of water and other in it. City Beneath the Sea (1971)

Recap goes here but how do you even recap this, it’s completely mad.

An underwater city becomes the site of much intrigue when the United States’ only supply of weapons-grade Element H128 is moved there for safekeeping.

This made-for-TV movie features many alumni of the Irwin Allen Cinematic Universe, like Robert Colbert, Whit Bissell, Richard Basehart, and James Darren. Robert Dowdell is in here somewhere (says IMDB) but I didn’t see him. 

The film re-uses a ton of props, like the Flying Sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and that big LiteBrite panel that Ann and Ray always had their elbows on in Time Tunnel. They raided the script cabinet just like the prop department, too, because Irwin Allen was nothing if not efficient. He only had five scripts, but he got four series and at least a half-dozen movies out of them, like the miracle with the loaves and fishes.

So half the fun of this, if you’re an Irwin Allen fan in general, is spotting all the things and actors you recognize. It’s also very colorful and you can’t say it’s boring, with mer-people and asteroids and tonnes of gold being used to keep ultra-unstable elements from going supercritical. 

All that is to say I liked it, but I like the songs they write for Metal Gear games.

The plot of City Beneath the Sea, so far as I have followed it:

President Richard Basehart (Richard Basehart) orders Admiral Mike Matthews (Stuart Whitman) to an underwater city that he helped build, Pacifica, for secret important reasons of national security. 

Commander “Woody” Patterson (Robert Colbert) shows up to fetch Mike back to Pacifica.

Everybody in Pacifica hates Mike, because some guy named Bill got killed following one of Mike’s orders.

Pacifica is home to the strongest vault in the entire world, which they built for reasons. President Richard Basehart has decided to transfer all of the gold from Fort Knox and rare globs of some super-hyper-radioactive element into the vault, because there are lots of earthquakes happening in the Fort Knox area.

The civilian scientists of Pacifica have set up some kind of society and government as well. They’re up to all sorts of weird stuff, like physically altering people to have gills (”aquanoids”) so they can breathe and talk underwater. There’s a weird Rapture vibe, like the civilian scientists were all lured with the promise of unimpeded research.

Meanwhile, Whit Bissell is playing a grandpa who doesn’t believe Mike is responsible for Bill’s death.

Meanwhile, there’s a saboteur trying to sabotage their super secure vault. 

Meanwhile... 

Dr. Talty (James Darren) shows up to tell President Richard Basehart that he has discovered a giant asteroid is about to hit the Earth. It is causing every volcano on Earth to erupt and hurricanes on the Mississippi River and all those earthquakes they’ve been noticing everywhere. 

Where will it hit? President Richard Basehart asks, like he’s hoping the giant asteroid impact will maybe be a local event that they can deal with locally. 

Like literally right on top of Pacifica, where they just stashed the entirety of the United States’ gold reserves and some highly unstable radioactive explodey stuff, says James Darren, though he doesn’t know that last part. 

From there, stuff happens, saboteurs are punched, names are cleared, broken friendships are mended, and giant asteroids (spoiler warning) don’t actually destroy the Earth.
