okay. whatever. GEMSTUCK BE UPON YE. this is just a concept and i cant promise im happy with the color palette. shes an aragonite! which is a very common simple ass mineral. yeah im sticking with the blood caste ranking in terms of how fancy the gem types are
aragonite is (forgot how already -_-) related to fossils! so through narrative shenanigans i want her very first form to be a plain aragonite, but her allegory-for-godtiering form has fossilized remains in it :)
not sure if the aragonite -> fossil metamorphosis is scientifically backed, but honestly just the association being there is good enough for me

It’s time for #FossilFriday! Check out the iridescent ammonite fossil from the Museum’s Grand Gallery.🌈✨ The vibrant colors seen on its surface are a result of light reflecting off of layers within the fossilized shell—similar to how oil on water produces a rainbow sheen. Ammonite fossils are an incredible source of information for scientists, from dating rocks to confirming the presence of ancient seas. The coloration of this specimen is unique to ammonites from Alberta, Canada; its iridescence is the result of nacre, the substance that made up the animal’s shell, being exposed to high temperatures and pressures over millions of years, becoming fossilized and turning into a mineral known as aragonite.
