Are you ready for Trilobite Tuesday? Megistaspidella triangularis gets its name from the distinctively triangular shape of its pointed head and tail. This rare complete specimen measures 4 in (10.2 cm) long. It was found at a 460 million-year-old Norwegian site located some 20 mi (32.2 km) south of Oslo.

“Border fragment of wool with a continuous band of #hummingbirds and fringelike appendages representing beans. Early Nasca [Nazca, Peru, c.1-450 CE]. Pollination of bean plants by birds may be suggested here. Border was formed using a needle-knit stemstitch.”

The dazzling colors seen in gem tourmalines depend on the metals present in each gemstone’s crystal structure. Pink tourmalines contain more manganese, while green crystals include iron, chromium, or vanadium. When conditions change during crystal growth, tourmalines can grow as bi-colored and multicolored crystals, such as watermelon elbaite—such as the specimen pictured!🍉

Saber-toothed Tiger:-
Tumblr media
The saber-toothed tiger, commonly known as Smilodon, was a prehistoric predator that lived during the Ice Age, around 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. Despite its name, it wasn’t closely related to modern tigers. Smilodon was known for its long, curved canine teeth, which could grow up to 11 inches. It had a powerful, muscular build, enabling it to take down large prey like bison and mammoths. These cats lived in North and South America, often hunting in packs. Climate change and the disappearance of large prey contributed to their extinction. Smilodon remains one of the most iconic prehistoric predators.
