I’ve posted this 1 of 4 Argento Nurburgring Ferrari F50 before, but this was the last time that I saw this car.  I had a very lengthy conversation with the owner about the car, and how it compared to his 288GTO and his F40.  He said the F50 is an incredibly easy car to drive, with a shifter like an old Toyota Carolla, and that he absolutely loved the car.  The owner was one of the most avid car enthusiasts that I had ever met, with a collection of all of the Ferrari halo cars, along with an amazing collection of homologation special road cars, from a 959, the 037 Stradale at this same show, a Lancia Delta S4, and many, many others.

He would sadly pass suddenly before car show season began the following year, and this would be the last time I spoke with him.  His sons still bring some of his cars out on occasion, but this F50 was sold off last year, and resides in Los Angeles now as far as I’m aware.

This incredible F50 and it’s incredible owner were spotted at the Lake Forest Concours in 2016

#Repost @dkengineering with @make_repost ・・・ NEW ARRIVAL... Ferrari 599 SA Aperta. This example is believed to be the first of just 8 UK supplied RHD from the quoted 80 production cars. Delivered by H.R. Owen to a loyal customer; this very early car car features ’06 of 80’ stitched into the centre of the rear bulkhead. As you would expect from a limited run special, this example features a number of options uniquely tailoring the car to the first owner. Under the bonnet are both the dated signature of Luca Di Montezemolo and then factory F1 driver, Fernando Alonso. The 599 GTO double-vented bonnet was added at a cost of £7,700, the aforementioned carbon fibre roof panel added at a significant cost of £20,300 as well as a number of subtle differences from standard around the car. The front grille was upgraded to an anodised finish with other grilles changed to Argento Nurburgring Opaco. Inside the full-electric carbon fibre backed seats are beautifully trimmed in Cuoio Leather in the pattern unique to the SA Aperta. Originally optioned with bespoke initials on the seat headrest, these were replaced by H.R. Owen when the car was sold to its second owner. The steering wheel was trimmed by special request in Nero leather with an Alcantara lower half and a Piano Black upper half. This, paired with the Piano Black centre console – unique to the SA Aperta - and Piano Black dashboard inserts neatly echo the Nero coachwork. The car is accompanied by its matching and unused 5 piece Cuoio luggage set, still in their protective bags. Used sparingly in recent years, this example has covered just 9,900 Miles. These all belonged to the same fantastic enthusiast, he unfortunately passed away about two years after this show, but his children still regularly bring a number of his cars out.  The F50, one of four originally painted in Argento Nurburgring, along with a matching Enzo, were both very recently sold off.  All spotted at Fuelfed Coffee and Classics in September of 2014
