it's Dec 23rd. It's the day Noel evolved into Arsenemon for the first time.

On Christmas. Yeah.

In real-life, 5 years ago on the same day I created Arsenemon for an extra round in a challenge from a digi-art group. He changed a lot since then...!!

I'm still thinking Rui and Noel could be friends... But he's a terrible influence. Well, at least he is a good mon and also does not want to hurt others.

Ok, more Noel-posting.

Now that I finished reading that specific book, I'd like to elaborate a few things about Noel/Arsenemon.

First, his evoline is basically the same as Tailmon, except for a few changes: Botamon → Nyaromon → Plotmon → BlackTailmon. The peculiar change in this line is that, except for Botamon, All previous forms had green eyes.

He's a BlackTailmon who lived in a small village within the aerial city of Larc until he went to Witchelny and started studying magic. But since digimon can absorb data from the real world... This cat digimon got access to a ton of Phantom Thief genre works -- including Arsene Lupin, the patron of this genre -- and got impressed by it. The countless stories of thieves doing things like justice and having incredible and amazing heists defying the human logic...

This then made him evolve, on Christmas, into a brand new digimon called Arsenemon. And since then, Arsenemon kept following that code, but not doing things for himself and yes for the sake of recovering Digital World treasures stolen by bad guys or mean spirited Chosen Children.

He rarely uses his BlackTailmon form, but when he does he tends to call himself "Hikage" to get intel from his targets. Hikage doesn't need pronouns, so he sticks with whatever the target calls him with.

During YPD he took also the identities of Ken and Daisuke, briefly, and just to not get caught... or to help saving the kids (under Ken's brilliant plans ofc) -- Daisuke claims Arsenemon is unable to copy his mannerisms and this is why the thief couldn't get away from the 02 kids.

But just like any other digimon or human, he has flaws. He's kinda prideful and likes to have fun so... Sometimes he can be quite insensitive and make things harder. If he's going off the rails, he needs Miss Espimon's intervention immediately, because she seems to make him realize the glaring dangers coming in his direction.

Arsenemon is not that smart, he's very skilled and creative, but even with the most genius plan he tends to get fooled or caught off guard. Though, his charming nature just makes everyone ignore when he's completely an idiot (affectionate).

Still, he had not much attachment to his allies except for Miss Espimon who had been with him since a long time ago during his stay in Witchelny, until he met Hino Youta and Hikawa Mizuki (Soleil & Lune) and formed a partnership with them. And later, grew attached of Motomiya Daisuke, who offered him kindness and loyalty (despite everything, Daisuke deeply cared about Noel after all). Thanks to those three he feels like being a digimon or human doesn't matter, because there's people who sees him as their friend.

Noel Leblanc identity was created especially for this case, previously, Youta and Mizuki didn't know him by "Noel" and yes by another forms/identities. After creating this new persona, with glaring suspicious references to his namesake Arsene Lupin, he just grew extremely attached to it thanks to those three mentioned peculiar humans.

i know if they had implemented that feature of allowing MC to disguise as the enemies this would make Joker too much OP, but one of the things his Persona's namesake was extremely skilled of was the fact Arsène Lupin was able to disguise himself as ANYONE enough to cause him identity crisis sometimes (at least it's what i got in the chapter where he mentioned that he "didn't know who he was anymore" sort of) enough to be called "master of disguises".

And this is why i'm sad that feature was not in the final version :(

Sorry for the inactivity here. So uhhh, I'm working on something caused by my exposition to a lot of stuff with detectives and phantom thieves lately...

So i'm just making a shameless promo for the @detectiveichijouji blog, which is basically the 02 group sleuthing around and having to deal with Arsenemon (my fanmade digimon) and a trio of misfits (Soleil/Lune/Étoile)

I'll warn you this is not an AU setting, it's pretty canon-compliant. After a good time writing AUs and "canon divergent" stuff, it's good to work on something close to the canon again.

I'll just compile all the 02TB rough panel drafts released on DP with a recap of the series once all of them are released. Hikari and Miyako had been released already, so i'm guessing the next might be either Iori or Takeru (if they're going in Jogress pair order)

Arsenemon / アルセーヌモン [Arusēnumon ] Perfect • Magic Warrior • Free • Nightmare Soldiers

[REDESIGN - 2025]

A great and most known phantom thief who appeared when this digimon had absorbed phantom thief genre data from the human world. Due to its fame, this courteous digimon only appears with this form at night, and disguises itself in the crowds at day. No one had seen its face, due to the mask it wears. No one also saw it, it’s cautious and nimble during its heists. Its Signature Move is a furtive attack which steals the data, including its powers, from the enemy (Malchanceux)

Attacks:

Malchanceux (FR: Bad luck) - Steals the data from the digicore/powers of the opponent with a furtive attack for one round, and those can be used as counterattack

Fausse Apparence (FR: Disguise) - Shapeshifts itself to escape from enemies.

Oeil de Chat (FR: Cat's Eye) - Summons a black cat with green eyes to hypnotize the opponent and make it fall asleep or give up on battling.

Truc d'Illusion (FR: Illusion Trick) - uses its magic tricks to cast an illusion on the opponent. This trick is not always said aloud, but just turned into a typical "un deux trois" (FR: "one two three") when casting it.

Ya know, when i got someone feeling that Daisuke would be sad that Noel was Arsenemon this whole time, i felt like a smug bastard because knowing that very well shows that he would be the opposite of sad -- he would be mad because he got fooled this whole time!

But there's something i do hope people have gotten from this whole project: Noel is not that different from Soleil and Lune.

He looks like a very shy and sweet kid, but he's just trash and insensitive in the sense that he's not very aware of human morality. Quite like a certain canon character who did all wrong things in order to keep their human partner happy and ended up just messing things up badly to the point the two had a big fight due to miscommunication.

But Noel's case is like, he admits to Daisuke he knew he was doing wrong things but he didn't stop because he likes to have fun. He was entertained by the cat and rat game that he was completely missing the point, or even listening to Miss Espimon's warnings of things going south at any instant.

Daisuke was his favorite victim because Daisuke was so determined to catch him that he grew attached to Daisuke. He helped the 02 kids sometimes because of Daisuke -- he was just enjoying this human specimen simply going beyond his digimon brain's comprehension.

But as I said, Noel's biggest flaw is that he want to have fun, and is a showoff trashcat. He's not innocent and he was also taking advantage of Soleil and Lune. But he definitely formed a bond with them later.

Btw, Arsenemon wasn't attached to an identity besides being 'Arsenemon' until he met Soleil, Lune and then Daisuke. So Noel Leblanc is the first time in his life that he got a favorite form in the midst of several identities he had so far. He's a shapeshifter therefore human concept of 'gender' does not make any sense for him (he would rather be classified as 'nb' or 'genderqueer' in terms of labels imo) but since he's attached to Noel form/identity, i keep referring to him by male pronouns.

(also, i didn't think about the other forms he had used before atm)

i know i wrote a silly joke (last year) as for why Noel picked that name for his human identity was because of him first evolving into Arsenemon on Christmas, BUT UH…

His original design was published on December 23, 2018 lol. I swear I forgot that detail when i wrote that.

Noel has a code and he follows it, he doesn't like to use awful tricks like brainwashing or blackmailing others in order to achieve his goals.

He let people and digimon decide if they want to help him or not. And ask for their permission when he has to pull any trick with their identities.

However, he's an enabler and can just push the right buttons to get their help and consent.

But yeah, he will always give them the option to refuse, or to quit anytime they feel stressed with those plans. He does not force anyone to tag with him too.

That said:

Noel can still take advantage of others, but at least he ASKS their permission and cooperation.

But if someone can use brainwashing techniques in order to help him, he won't object. He does not like to use those approaches by himself, that's all.
