My another oc, Neight Sans(technically he is not Sans)
Neight left his au after… something bad and spent some time in the omega timeline where Dream took him. Now he lives in a random Undertale neutral timeline

Roleplaying Races 12: Drider
Tumblr media
(art by Art of Neight on Artstation)
We’re going a bit into RPG history this time, with a classic that hearkens back to the first edition of the World’s Oldest Roleplaying Game.
When the drow were introduced as a (at the time) shocking subversion of what everyone assumed elves had to be like, with them came the drider, victims of cruelty twisted into monstrous form.
In the original D&D lore, driders are the product of the depredations of the drow patron deity: Lolth, who punished drow who failed one of her tests with this monstrous form. (or, just as likely, inflicted by her on a whim or to eliminate a rival of whichever house she favored at the moment). In certain editions, it was actually a reward, but that has since been dismissed and made non-canon.
But Pathfinder’s drow, while corrupted by demonic forces, the power of Rovagug, and the harshness of life underground, do not have a spider goddess, or any special reason to be associated with spiders at all. So what reason do they have to exist in the core Pathfinder setting?
The answer lies in a new association that the drow have: with fleshwarping. Though the correct application of magic and alchemy, the drow are capable of creating replicatable mutants from various races, favoring one specific fleshwarp mutant per race, which vary from brutish soldiers to creatures that exist only to suffer.
When the drow apply their fleshwarping skill to their own, the result is a drider. Half driven mad by their ordeal and with limited memories of their past life, the exact reason that driders were originally created is lost, but it is all to clear now that the drow use them as powerful monstrous soldiers, affording them none of the respect they might have once held, as their drow kin view the process as a punishment, either for an actual crime, or for the crime of being a lower-class drow when their leaders need more monstrous soldiers or guards.
However, unlike other fleshwarp creations, driders breed true, and as such have spread beyond the confines of drow hierarchy.
Technically these racial stats for drow, which come from the Race Builder chapter of Advanced Race Guide, are a bit weaker than the drow’s monster stats, lacking their innate sorcerous spellcasting, but they could still be fun in a game that allows for monstrous player characters.
Driders are a tauric race. From the waist up, their bodies are that of a drow, while below that, they have the legs and abdomen of a giant spider. However, in Pathfinder at least, there is some sexual dimorphism. Female driders retain the most of their drow-like traits, and sport round, slender-legged arachnid halves. However, drider males are even more twisted, with their lower halves often bulky, spiny, or hairy, while their faces are fanged fusions of elven and arachnid, appearing fearsome and bestial. (Though this may vary in your setting or interpretation.
Many driders, particularly males due to their bestial nature, still serve drow houses as soldiers, bodyguards, and enforcers, however, female driders seem to retain much of their former independence of thought, and have on occasion started successful rebellions, taking their kin with them into the depths away from drow influence. Depending on the settlement, these independent drider civilizations may be simply drow 2.0, or they may seek to completely leave behind the self-serving attitude of most drow states, perhaps with the help of more benevolent underground or even surface civilizations.
With great strength, dexterity, cunning, and superior constitution, driders are powerful beings indeed with no obvious weak points.
They also boast the same natural spell resistance as drow, as well as hard bodies.
Having arachnid legs makes them quite swift and mobile, able to move up walls with ease. What’s more, they are difficult to upend.
However, despite their large size, their torsos are build for carrying weapons sized for medium creatures.
Unfortunately, as one of the example race builder races with no follow-up, there are no alternate racial traits for them in first edition, and with most of their racial traits devoted to building a semi-authentic representation of their monstrous stats, it might be difficult to make them. I would suggest ones that replace their advanced ability modifiers with things like the web ability, or some bonus to a sorcerous bloodline of some kind.
The drider race is very powerful, and many GMs may not wish to run it except in more loose campaigns, or perhaps those with similarly monstrous characters, or perhaps balancing with additional equipment and abilities for the other characters starting off until their own capabilities catch up with those inborn to driders. That being said, there really is no class that driders cannot be adept at due to their lack of weaknesses, though obviously cavalier and options that grant a mount are not viable without archetypes or other modification. Their bonus to wisdom makes most divine classes a natural choice, including and especially those that blend combat with casting. Consider also the alchemist due to their origins in fleshwarping, as well as summoner or druid specializing in arachnid summons and eidolons, or any number of sorcerer or bloodrager options to reflect the innate spellcasting present in the normal drider statblock.
