jazzopen Stuttgart 2023

Vom 13. bis 23. Juli 2023 finden in Stuttgart die jazzopen stuttgart statt. Wie man es von den jazzopen gewohnt ist, konnten erneut zahlreiche großartige nationale wie auch internationale musikalische Superstars verpflichtet werden. Auf insgesamt acht Bühnen werden in den 11 Tagen jazzopen stuttgart über 50 Konzerte stattfinden. Die jazzopen gehören immer noch zu einem der Events, die noch unabhängig und eigenständig sind. Weshalb uns dieses Festival auch besonders am Herzen liegt. Die jazzopen locken mit ihrem Konzept jährlich mehr als 40.000 Besucher*innen aus ganz Deutschland und dem angrenzenden Ausland in die Stuttgarter City. Aktuell sind bereits vier der fünf Abende im Alten Schloss ausverkauft und auch für die ganz große Bühne auf dem Stuttgarter Schlossplatz wird es an den sechs Abenden mit Sitz- und anderen Tribünenplätzen langsam eng. Die jazzopen Fans können sich dabei auf die Auftritte von Deep Purple, Grace Jones, Parov Stelar, Paolo Nutini, LP, Die Fantastischen Vier, Beth Hart, Snarky Puppy und MEUTE freuen. Die jazzopen zählen neben Montreux und Rotterdam zu den europäischen Top 3 Festivals für Jazz and Beyond. Also gibt es gleich mehrere Gründe sich das Festival nicht entgehen zu lassen. To a Finland Station is an album by trumpeters Dizzy Gillespie and Arturo Sandoval recorded in 1982 and released on the Pablo label.

“This unique set finds Dizzy Gillespie (who was nearly age 65) sharing the frontline with the great Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. Backed by a fine Finnish rhythm section, Sandoval and the great trumpeter are both in good spirits playing five of Gillespie’s originals including “Wheatleigh Hall” and “And Then She Stopped.” Considering that it would be another decade before Sandoval was able to defect from Cuba (and finally play the music he wanted), this recording is of great historic value.” – Scott Yanow/AllMusic .

Un Día Como Hoy de 1949 nació en Artemisa, Cuba ArturoSandoval. Músico virtuoso, principalmente trompetista. También ejecuta el fiscorno, piano, timbales y vocales.

Fue formado como trompetista clásico por la Escuela Nacional de Música de la Habana. En 1973 fue seleccionado para integrar la Orquesta Cubana de Música Moderna, donde permanecio hasta 1978 para ser parte de la mítica banda Irakere hasta 1981 cuando formó su propio grupo. Durante 10 años recorrió Europa del Este teniendo presentaciones con su sexteto, asi como presentaciones clásicas,.compartiendo escenario con figuras de la talla de Sergei Nakarianov. En 1988 formó parte de la United Nations Orchestra de Dizzy Gillespie.

Se exilió en 1991 en los Estados Unidos en un principio imparte clínicas como en la U.Berkley posteriormente retoma y despunta su carrera como jazzista. Ganador de 9 Grammys, es considerado uno de los 5 mejores trompetista de la actualidad, junto a los estadounidenses Wynton Marsalis y Chris Botti y los europeos Enrico Rava y Paolo Frescu.
