So I'm gonna ask the real question we're all wondering: out of the love interests and their dynamics with Joan, how many are shameless subs for them and how many are doms? Like we are not all on here to write/read smut?? pot---meet--->kettle. Anyway I guess I can understand the frustration some have when they assume they are stealing attention away from fics, but idk tumblr is huge and there is a place/audience for everyone is my belief. I've seen many long 6k+ fics breaking 20k+ so I think theres interest in long fics as well (one of my 7k+ fic has 18k+ notes). But I work in marketing, am getting my MBA right now and have worked in the middle of business and creative my entire career (at one point i worked for Twitch directly with streamers/influencers) so I can say when it comes to anything content/creative driven its honestly it's less about the quality of the individual work and more about regularly finding, interacting and catering to your audience if you really care about notes that much . I think its far more important though to do it for fun. Especially since we are not getting paid and doing this for free-99! So much creativity gets stifled when its too much about the business/results/notes side and you are working to please others/for clout. Thats a whole ass job in itself lmfao! I used to write on ff.net back in the day (years ago omfg) and stressed myself out so much from all the reviews/requests that I ended up abandoning it and was scared to write fanfics for years because of the anxiety of 'letting ppl down' until I got back into it last fall and decided to stop giving a fuck LOL.

18. Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?

Does it count as abandoned if I keep trying to convince myself I’ll eventually come back to them slkdfjslfd? Okay, but seriously so many. I just went into my WIPs folder and cringed a little. 

I think the main reason I abandon a WIP is the idea I had for it was half-baked, so I end up writing myself into a hole I can’t write my way out of. Or really, the idea I had was suitable for just that one paragraph, that one line of exposition, or whatever, and that was all there was to it. The other reason is that a new, shinier, WIP has consumed my every waking thought and I want to write that more lmfao. 

27. Do you make a general outline for your stories or do you just go with the flow?

I used to just go with the flow! But I’m trying to be better at outlining. Even if it’s just a couple of bullets or a few notes. I’ve found that I can play and tinker with the outline until I get a semblance of a character arc and growth that I can translate into the fic instead of just winging it and hoping that a character arc emerges. 

41. What’s you favourite minor character you’ve written?

Essi! Oh my god.  A Little Sacrifice is the only Witcher story I’ve actually read (for a variety of reasons I’d love to get into at some point) and it’s heartbreaking but it’s so good and Essi! I love her. I love how important she becomes to Geralt; I love how important she is to Jaskier/Dandelion. She helps showcase a tender, more serious side of him that I don’t believe we’d gotten to see in the books at that point. I really, really hope they put her in the show. 

50. If you could write only angst, fluff or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?

*sweats* please for the love of god don’t make me choose sldfjsldf. Part of me wants to say fluff because fluff is just such a fun romp, it is simply chicken soup for the soul, and it’s just outrageously satisfying to write. Another part of me wants to say smut solely because I struggle with writing smut, and if that was the only thing I could write, I would probably (I hope) eventually get good at it slkfdjsf.

5) augh god........im like lmfao shit who represents my Hater Club side. hmmm. oh no wait you know what. totally different but i love Prof Beatrice Hotchkiss in the trt nancy drew pc game. she’s holed up in her room writing all the time and just is weird when you try to talk to her all like no i won’t open the door, bring me food, do this Research, bring me my Ski Boots i guess......and then when you do meet her it’s all at like post-midnight in the lounge and she’s all like, encouraging you as a Night Owl and your investigative curiosity and all and i’m like oh word yeah being up in the dead of night is the shit. she’s just weird and passionate and this is another character i might not Act hardly at all like but who i vibe with lmfao. hotchkiss was the supportive adult in my life

6) remembering how hotchkiss is a historian made me think of academia which made me think of like, once again with “these vibes are So So Rare” i really ought to put the wrol role of Nato on the list cuz like. that essential representation of “gets gr8 grades but isn’t really ~academic~ / doesn’t care about that and really just cares about Hanging W Friends and [real specific interests]” is like wow damn that’s the Mood. coz like to an extent i can always Relate to the ~overachiever~ types a la the [nerd character gets all-A’s and other nerd shit] deal, but there’s eventually the issue of like.....those characters like bindy mackenzies and alana becks Care about their achievements (not exclusively as some ppl would have it 9_9) and are Studious whereas i always hated school and was a godawful student in terms of Habits and always got good grades b/c the devil was with me or something and like people will think i must have tried real hard and dedicated myself to Academics and stuff and it’s like.........no................not at all hardly, sure i did my hw every night but at like 11:29 pm or studied for a midterm at lunch right before the class lol or flipped through a lil bit of the sat study guide the night prior.........the “low-effort dumbass who Academically Excels Anyhow” representation is so crucial like!! i run into a wall when it’s the Good Grades nerd character who is real studious and focused and stuff like. couldn’t be me. meanwhile the “naturally weird + probably some ‘deliberate’ weirdness” and “likes animals” and “most likely to just wanna Roll With It” and “shitty focus lol” and “non sequiturs” and “without [activity] i do nothing” is all like....ahahahohoho..........nato rly got to make this list. and honorable mention for Wrol Jeremy. again: whom doesn’t relate!!!!!!!!
