I like to design little symbols/emblems for my Ace of Swords characters. Here's some key characters and their symbols.

Santos originally also had the teardrop shape but I didn't want two characters with the exact same symbol.

With the chime of the door, her gaze lifts from the bouquet she’s currently in the midst of wrapping, calling out a warm greeting to the patron who’d just entered. It’s only when she finishes her presentation and delivers it to the customers before her that they move to leave and allow her chocolate orbs to land onto the familiar face, warm smile inching further upwards as amusement tugged at it. His arrival could only mean one thing. “You know...I’m pretty sure my kuia thinks all of your stops in here are for new additions rather than replacements. She would be heartbroken if she knew the truth and you would likely be banned.” A half truth, knowing her grandmother was too soft a woman to ban anyone who hadn’t committed a proper offense but sure that the male before her wouldn’t escape without a stern lecture on taking better care of his plants. “How many times is this now? I mean...I don’t know exactly the requirements to be listed as a serial killer but...I imagine that the plants most certainly consider you one.”

one beer , two beer , shot … already striker’s eyes were subject to double-vision , a phenomenon near impossible to navigate thanks to his left pupil’s tendency to wander on its own accord . the magic of their evening ?? not one drink had been paid for out of pocket . half-guzzled pint glasses had been swiped from abandoned tables , the dregs of downed shots poured to the backs of their throats , the odd sip of whiskey from the bottleneck swiped from behind the bar ; over the years of empty pockets and a hankering for booze , the oldest cannon had invented genius ways of getting hammered for nothing more than a flutter of his eyelids . nudging his partner in crime for the evening — the fresh-faced asher , who was doing himself no favours by hanging around with reprobates like the cannons — the male gestured to a glittering bottle of vodka , gold flecks nestled at the bottom of the glass , sitting pretty upon the top shelf beyond the counter . those drinks ( although they were in the wild pony , and so nobody was particular up-market ) were reserved for the christmas celebrations , the birthday drinks , the post-lottery wins ; surely they could never afford even so much as a whiff . “ dare you to grab that pretty lil’ thing up there , “ his voice was a gravelly whisper , loud enough just so his counterpart could hear over the hubbub , “ i suddenly got a hankerin’ for the yellow stuff . “

It's Mr. Finch with his laundry basket that breaks your streak of boxes dragged through the hallway, staring at the mess with a bushy, raised eyebrow.

"Spring cleaning?" He guesses, glancing between you and your door.

"Sort of," You laugh, setting the box on the ground to itch at the back of your neck, "I'm moving in there."

You jerk a thumb towards Spencer's apartment, and Mr. Finch peers in. Spencer's hunched over a box of your books, placing them meticulously in alphabetical order by author. He mingles your collections, Asher by Austen.

"I was rooting for you two," He muses, a twinkle in his eyes as you nudge a box out of his way with your foot, "Someone needs to be there to take care of his fish while he's gone."

"My girlfriend the fish feeder," Spencer pops his head through the doorframe with his signature closed-mouth smile, nodding at Mr. Finch, "Do you need help with your laundry?"

"No, I'm alright," The man smiles jovially at you, hoisting his basket to his hip once more and trekking through the path you've made for him, "But you can do one thing for me."

"Oh? What's that?" You stand, hip popped to the side as Spencer's hand rests on it.

"Keep it down tonight," Mr. Finch teases, winking cheekily at you, "My wife needs her beauty sleep."

F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)? I'll pick Asher, Sen, and Clancy? (Sorry I pick these three the most but they're my favs)

Aw, I'm glad they're your favourites! ^^ They are some of the main characters in Ace of Swords after all. XD

For Asher... well he's one of my personal favourite Ace of Swords characters as well. ^^ I always feel joy when drawing him, but when I think about writing dialogue for him I feel frustrated. XD Asher is supposed to be a charming, clever, fast-talking and charismatic kind of guy and I find characters like that really hard to write. XD I'm not charismatic myself and I'm not smart in the same way as Asher (tech-savy) so... yeah. It's a bit of a struggle. XD

As for Sen, with her I feel a sense of familiarity since she has some quirks based on myself. She's supposed to be autistic like me, and since I'm the autistic person I know best I based some of her autistic traits on myself. And weirdly... that feels both nice to do and a little scary. XD

Clancy... absolute fondness. ^^ Clancy is an easy character to love. He's got a big heart and an optimistic attitude despite his less than ideal upbringing. I just wanna give Clancy a big hug and wanna be his friend!

ARGUE

I don’t know how to argue with that and I don’t really want to. I’m too tired to move and I want to be the kind of person who can sleep next to someone else, the kind of person whose choices aren’t still ruled by all the fucked up shit that went before.

AMAZEDS

He kneels at my feet and it still amazes me how he can turn kneeling into a dominant posture. Then he fires up the cauteriser and the first stroke hits like heaven. “What do you want?”

ACHE

Something that should’ve been relaxation hits me and all it does is amplify the ache in my bones. Not the good kind of ache. The kind I want to get away from.

Find The Word Tag

I’ve got a nice rest, write, and recuperation day today, so let’s tackle another tag! *Dusts off an old one from the pile* Thank you @sleepyowlwrites for such fun words: meanwhile, near, pressure, quickly. BONUS: release, sneak!

Near: (More joys of being invisible -- this seems to be a theme today)

They scrambled down the ladder, sharing an awkward moment at the bottom, where Paris waited for her to go first, and then Velia hung back uncertainly, and then Paris, who couldn’t see her, tried walking forward and nearly knocked her off the caboose.

“Sorry, sorry,” he breathed, almost laughing in the rain, and then they rushed through the door.

Quickly:

Paris’ gaze softened meaningfully. Velia experimented with leaning into the full weight of that gaze, but quickly decided she didn’t like it; there was too much riding on you when you were looked at. Sighing, she reached in her jacket pocket and pulled out his notebook.

She flipped through them, deciding on the right one. There was a sketch Antonio’s face, something wary in his eyes, bottom lip pulled between his teeth. Suddenly shy, Velia leaned across the car to hand it to Paris.

Release: (Back when they first met, Velia called Paris library boy)

“What happened to you?”

“Oh, this?” Antonio gestured vaguely to his general state, surprisingly unbothered. “It’s chaos out there. Some idiot released livestock in the performance cars. Like I said, chaos. Interrupted this poor chap’s show, had some other chap almost knock me off the train…terrible.”

Velia shot a look at the library boy. Show?

“I’m not sure that was an accident,” the library boy said as Antonio sank into a chair. “It wasn’t even that crowded by the time he shoved you.”

“He fell on me,” Antonio corrected. “Don’t make things so gloomy, your instrument’s safe, isn’t it?”

The library boy looked down at the case in his hand. “Yes, thanks to you.”

Sneak:

“So, you’re offering to stuff the plans down your shirt,” Lewis said bluntly.

“Lewis Huen!” Antonio and Paris said at the same time. Fynn clapped a hand to his mouth to stifle his laugh. Velia only sighed.

Steve slips under, and dreams of hiding peacefully in a small cupboard—something he used to do as a toddler. It’s cozy and quiet in there, and there’s a few muffled noises from outside that are nothing but comforting, as if when he’s ready to rejoin the rest of the world out there he can.

He stretches out his fingers; small toddler fingers, and wherever he moves them around, the sliver of light from the cracked door touches them, and the light is warm.

Synopsis: When Velia Greene accepts her newest job, she thinks nothing of it. A three day train ride, a secret piece of cargo--simple enough for a thief who can slip right past any security. After all, Velia’s never been caught. How could she be, when nobody can see her?

It’s lonely, being invisible to everyone until they care for you. But it does give you an excellent advantage at sneaking.

But on the train, everything starts to go wrong. Four passengers overhear her and discover her presence. A strange man somehow sees her immediately. The cargo is more precious than she could’ve imagined, and there’s someone aboard who will stop at nothing to get it before the train arrives...

The text from Asher had earned a singular snort of a laugh. Though, that was something Andi wasn't going to admit that to him. But, no sooner had she hit send on the fake block message that she'd heard the knock on the door of her trailer. Asshole. A swing of her leg helped kick herself up off her bed, spurring her to the front door.

She opened the door, her face serious, and full of faux annoyance. As soon as she met Asher's face, she tapped the 'No Soliciting' sign that sat in the screen of the storm door. "Sorry, we aren't interested in hearing from chickens. Us losers consider you our mortal enemies." She gave him a once over, and shrugged. "But, you look pathetic enough that I'll give you a chance to convince me. You got five seconds to sell me on exactly why I should let you in. And know, that I am a very tough sell."
