Ugh. I have such a love hate relationship with this drama. In lots of ways this drama is outstanding and in lots of ways this drama is absolutely frustrating. For one thing every character is written in a way where you want to slap them, especially the main male lead. (You don’t even want me to get started on his father) The male lead is very spineless and very selfish practically throughout the whole drama. All he wants is the “girl” AND the money he comes from. I’m trying to be discreetly as possibly with that description without spoiling anything for those who haven’t watch it yet. I kept wanting to throttle him sometimes, telling him to grow up. Nonetheless this does have a excellent storyline with beautiful scenery and costumes. The first half is definitely better then the middle where it gets a bit muddled. The last episode was very rushed too but it did resolve everything and offer closure. Overall I would recommend this one for the historical republican era cdrama buffs and those who love melodramas.

I used to be pretty anti self help AND anti therapy, I grew up in a household that used physical fitness to release stress or went straight to medication like anti depressants without any counseling but both the book and podcast have really helped me understand some of the basics of what I needed help with outside of just OCD! Plus I couldn't have finally gotten my ocd diagnosis without a therapist! And even having better language to express what is happening with me makes a big difference

Therapy isn't an instant cure, I think most of the time it's just getting more tools to manage and hopefully thrive and hey sometimes people go to therapy for years without progress so I don't want to ever suggest it's a one size fits all situation but i think a huge first step can even just be recognizing there's nothing corny or cliche about trying to find some help even if it feels a little child like to be told to "speak to yourself nicely" those things are powerful and probably seem dumb cause you never do them lol

It's been a good year for my mental processing and I haven't been able to say that in a really long time if ever and I still have a million and one things to work through but at the very least I don't think it's pointless anymore <3

Michelle Yeoh is a mythological goddess in the new Disney+ series American Born Chinese. Based on the genre-hopping graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang, Disney unveiled a featurette of the new series during the D23 Expo.

“It’s a lot of fun, it’s a log of magic, it’s a lot of badass action,” Yeoh says in the clip which you can view in the video above. Yeoh adds later on, “It is a magical ride and that’s what Disney+ is all about.”

American Born Chinese tells the story of Jin Wang (Ben Wang), an average teenager juggling his high school social life with his home life. When he meets a new student on the first day of the school year, even more worlds collide as Jin is unwittingly entangled in a battle of Chinese mythological gods.

Joining Wang are Yeo Yann Yann as Christine Wang, Chin Han as Simon Wang, Ke Huy Quan as Freddy Wong, Jimmy Liu as Wei-Chen, Sydney Taylor as Amelia with Daniel Wu as Sun Wukong “The Monkey King” and Yeoh as Guanyin.

Kelvin Yu (Bob’s Burgers) serves as executive producer and showrunner. Destin Daniel Cretton (Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) is set to direct and serves as executive producer, alongside Melvin Mar and Jake Kasdan (Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.), Erin O’Malley (Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.), Asher Goldstein (Short Term 12) and Gene Luen Yang. The Disney Branded Television series is produced by 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios.

Guest directors for the show include Peng Zhang (Episode 4) and Lucy Liu (Episode 6).

American Born Chinese is expected to be released on Disney+ in 2023.

The preview information that is most of interest to me:

Russia, defending Olympic team champion for both men and women, will not be present at the event. The only way for Russian gymnasts to qualify to the Olympics in Paris is via the World Cup events and the continental championships next year.

I'm unsure if the ban on Russia right now is related to the doping or the invasion of Ukraine, but it's probably both! Putin uses sport as a propaganda tool and to project strength. Withholding that opportunity from him during these times is GOOD.

When I was writing out the subdivisions, including individual all-around competitors and apparatus specialists, I was taking special note of the Armenian and Azerbaijani men. Currently, Azerbaijan's military is conducting a genocide against the Armenians who live(d) in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of AZE. It has ramped up this month.

Session 1, Subdivision 1 contains an Azerbaijani All-Around gymnast, Ivan Tikhonov, and two Armenian All-Around gymnasts, Artur Davytan and Gagik Khachikyan.

Session 1, Subdivision 2 contains an Azerbaijani apparatus specialist (Nikita Simonov) and two Armenian apparatus specialists (Vahagn Davtyan and Artur Avetisyan) on Still Rings.

Men’s Team Preview: With China’s “A” team competing at the Asian Games it is hard to bet against Japan. But even with their “B” team, the Chinese men, who have won 12 of the last 15 world team titles, are still going to be very strong. It should be another close contest between the top two countries in the world, but with Hashimoto Daiki and “team’s MVP” Kaya Kazuma, Japan should be able to handle the competition and emerge victorious. With a young talented team led by Asher Hong and Fred Richard, the U.S. should have enough for the bronze medal, which would be their first team medal since 2014. Having already, qualified to the Paris, Great Britain’s Joe Fraser and Giarnni Regini Moran are skipping this event, but the team welcomes back three-time Olympic champion Max Whitlock, and will have some tumbling power on the squad by Jake Jarman and Harry Hepworth. Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaiev is back in action and along with Illia Kovtun, the team should manage to safely get one of the spots for Paris. European team champion, Italy, along with Korea and Turkey should also be a few of the countries that net an Olympic berth in Antwerp. Men’s All-around preview: Defending champion Hashimoto Daiki is perhaps the only gymnast in the field in Antwerp capable of scoring into the 88s, and with his main rival Zhang Boheng from China not present, Hashimoto is the clear favorite for the title. Podium potential include Carlos Yulo PHI, USA’s Fred Richard and Asher Hong, China’s Sun Wei and Shi Cong. Great Britain’s Jake Jarman, Turkey’s Adem Asil and Ukraine’s Illia Kovtun are also capable of producing high enough all-arounds to land them on the podium.
