ok- I feel like you have the coolest sense of style but still like comfy stuff, and also you have/would want to have a bunch of cool little historical trinkets/replicas
omg I love these, thank you!
i do generally live in like, loungewear-adjacent things or else denim and flannel and sweaters on account of working from home and living in the countryside, but I do like to think I have a cool style ~muscle~ I can flex when once in a blue moon*. occasions are so rare though! last big friend vaca I went on I put together a silly little capsule wardrobe i'm still very proud of that was like, 90s dad on his first tropical vacation except she's a small futch lesbian. one of the best wardrobe decisions i made on that trip was wearing a lavender jumpsuit on the travel days for both warm/cold convertability and also the airport queue compliments.
sometimes I miss being around style but boy does it save money! one thing there's no shortage of here (in appreciation or quantity) is vintage jackets, from like, random events. i have this car rally one i adore and there's a fishing tournament windbreaker i didn't pick up at a shop the other day and now immensely regret passing on. god i'm gonna go look for it now when i go into that town tomorrow
and i WOULD want a whole bunch of cool little historical replicas and trinkets yes please. recently picked up some peak canadiana: an old butter crate! it came in a 56 lb block that got cut in stores. love historic typography (see: crate) and mysterious glass bottles from the 19th and early 20th centuries especially. objects with lives and stories man....
*like tonight/tomorrow! fun fact blue moons aren't blue or anything they're just a full moon in a month that already has had a full moon

FO: Vintage Dino Sweaters
They're done!!! A month late but complete none the less.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pattern is Dino (Ravelry link) which was found in the Beehive Knit Menagerie booklet. It was released in 1987 and was a rather popular pattern for the time. My brother and a number of kids in my school had them.
This sweater became dear to my heart when, in college, my brother found a childhood picture of himself in the sweater and lamented that he didn't still have it to wear. So as an ever dutiful sister, I knit him an adult version.
Tumblr media
Recently I was cleaning out my craft room and organizing after a renovation when my then 3 year old daughter found the booklet and started flipping through it. She saw the dino sweater and requested an orange and red dinosaur (her favourite colours) and I decided to also make her brother a matching one.
Details
Girl Sweater:
Size: 2
Yarns Used: Bernat Super Saver (cream, brown, black), Patons Canadiana (orange, red)
Modifications: Doubled the amount of spikes, accidentally altered the intarsia a bit because I apparently can't count. It passes the 10 foot/toddler rules so I left it.
Boy Sweater:
Size: 2, done on smaller needles for tighter gauge
Yarns Used: Bernat Super Saver (cream, brown, black), Patons Canadiana (orange), Berocco Vintage (blue)
Modifications: Knit on smaller needles and used a DK weight yarn for the dino body to assist with a smaller size. Added button flap at left shoulder and loop on collar for easier changing of a baby.
The smallest size on this is a 2, I already knew that I needed to size down for my 1 year old even if he is 'off the charts' for height, but when my size 3 for my 4 year old was massive, I made her a size 2 on regular needles. It's a sweater from the 80s, oversized was in, but this was a bit ridiculous.
I basically had to reknit the toddler sweater. Firstly, I messed up the intarsia even worse than it currently is, and didn't realize till half done the front. Then I realized the sizing issue after finishing the back (which I did in a size 2 by accident, only to realize it was a better fit). Then after I reknit the front, I had to do some surgery on the back as I decided to shorten the brown section and didn't want to pull out the full back.
After I started getting the spikes on, I realized I liked having them closer together and knit a bunch more.
I’ll take real clothes pictures the next time they wear them, but she wanted to put hers on as soon as she could and these turned out cute.
Overall this was a fun knit, and I'm very pleased with how they turned out. My daughter has already requested two other patterns from the booklet, but we'll have to see how she feels in the fall.

I'm so excited! I ordered a bunch of new puzzles from my favorite puzzle company, Eurographics Puzzles.
The puzzles I got were:
Ukraine - Globetrotter
Beautiful Lake Louise
RMCP Morning Campfire
The Four Seasons (Variant 3) [Alphonse Mucha]
Young Girl in Green [Tamara De Lempicka]
Can't wait for for the art piece puzzles because I love those art styles, and I'm excited for the Ukraine Globetrotter one too because I like Ukrainian history/geography. The other 2 are vintage Canadiana ads (which makes sense considering Eurographics is a Canadian company) which I like because they're vintage style amd because my mom's Canadian so it makes me think of her :) (also helps that the last 2 were on sale!)

I would like to share one of my short stories, "The Jar of A Legend", and its protagonist, Sántha Negrescu, in the following post here:
To keep it brief, here's an information about Sántha:
Born on November 11, 1954 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Sántha is the third generation of Romanian-Canadian Moroi vampire born to the Negrescu family.
He is considerably skinny and pale, with his waist size around 23-26 inches. He is 5’7″ (170 cm) and has a pair of pure blue eyes. He has a dark brown hair, thin lips with a pair of fangs appeared between them. His most distinct feature would be his striking eyebrows that give the impression of a fierce, young vampire master.
He’s quite agile, able to climb walls and rocky surfaces, and has a nocturnal vision. He can shapeshifts into animals like a bat or a wolf and has a pair of strong, sharp fangs.
Upon first meeting, Sántha appears awkward and stiff. He tends to be an introvert, often hides himself from the world, but is quite talkative around his family and closed friends. However, he’s quite observant of the world around him, a deep thinker who is inquisitive and always wonders about how the environment around him works. He can be uplifting, especially to his mother and grandparents. He’s self-governed, self-reliant and, although he has no ties to any allegiance, he loves his family.
He’s interested in true crime, video games (arcade being his favourite place), the colour black and red, and books with purple/archaic phrases.

Les Beau Rêves
I have this dream that I’ll move to the East Coast and the rest of my life will be like a series of vintage Americana (or Canadiana, I guess) vignettes. I’ll meet some old world boy with a sailboat and a lakeside cottage, and together we’ll live out our lives as though we’ve just stepped from the pages of a J. Crew catalogue. Blissful in wellies and pearls.
Maybe it just means I’m ready for something new?
