i am losing my mind over the fact that the most passionate kiss i have ever seen from disney, in a show that would have been disney channel if it had been made even 2 years earlier, was between two girls. like,,, troy and gabriella couldn’t even kiss in the original hsm because god what would the children think… we can’t have characters kissing that would be too vulgar. and the passion and the length and the desire we see between maddox and ashlyn i don’t think i’ve ever seen before in any disney property. and it was sapphic. 2023 is truly a year.

I have decided to fix the season 4 Cheating storyline, while still keeping the events, because context is everything, and this fits the characters more.

Big Red and Seb both have to work so they can't go to California for the summer right? But they both are still big into theater, so instead they join the community theater.

They get cast opposite each other in a relationship. The kiss is part of the play. Seb feels guilty because he wasn't expecting to get cast in a role that would have him act in a way that felt like cheating, and he can't text Carlos to tell him. It still doesn't mean anything to either of them, but Big Red still gets his moment of realization when talking to another cast member who said he had his own gay awakening when on stage.

Big Red and Ash still break up. It's still fine with both.

Seb ices out Carlos because his father will be at the coffee truck everyday and he's not ready to come out yet and he still feels guilty.

So I watched the final season of Hsmtmts and it was, in my opinion, the best one yet. The characters were all developed brilliantly (my favourites being EJ and Mr Mazzara as usual, but I loved them all) and I almost wish there were more seasons even though I'm glad that it ended on the high it did. I'm going to miss the wildcats but I'm so glad I found this little theatre show and followed it through to the end!
