A Gaza photojournalist working for international media called on residents of the coastal enclave to cross the border into Israel on October 7, after Hamas terrorists had breached it, an HonestReporting investigation has found.
Mohammed Fayq Abu Mostafa, a freelancer who has been working for Reuters, made the comments while excitedly displaying footage of Hamas atrocities on an Instagram Live hosted in Gaza by another photojournalist, Ashraf Amra.
Amra has been working for AP, Reuters and APA Images, as well as for Turkish agency Anadolu. The investigation also found Amra had been honored with kisses by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on two previous occasions.
The revelation casts doubt on the journalistic impartiality of the two freelance photojournalists and the vetting procedures of media outlets that have relied on their work.
The following information was compiled based on a probe of Amra’s and Abu Mostafa’s social media accounts. We also looked at articles and visuals published online and checked image databases of relevant media outlets.
“Whoever Can Go – Go”
On October 7, Amra hosted an Instagram Live from Khan Younis to provide updates following Hamas’ deadly cross-border assault on Israel, in which 1,200 people were killed and some 240 taken hostage.
During the broadcast, Amra willingly let a thrilled Abu Mostafa, who had just returned from Israeli territory, display the brutal acts that he had captured on his phone at the breached border area.
Amra can be seen laughing and smiling while Abu Mostafa presented footage of the lynching of an Israeli soldier:

Abu Mostafa went on to say: “We were there two hours ago, since the beginning.”
He detailed what he saw at the border and deep inside Israel, in Sderot. He described breaking into a room where Israelis were hiding before being taken by Hamas terrorists.
He then called on people to cross into the sovereign Jewish state: “Advice, whoever can go – go. It is a one-time event that will not happen again.”
And Amra replies: “Really, it will not repeat itself.”

Abu Mostafa’s border photos, one of which seems to show the lynching he had shared on Amra’s Live, were recently selected by Reuters and The New York Times to be included in their 2023 “Images of the Year.”
Tumblr media
Amra was also at the border earlier in the day. In the Instagram Live he said:
I just returned from the Khuza’a area, near the Khuza’a area on the eastern border of the Gaza Strip. Tens of armed Palestinian men are constantly storming the border toward the settlements around Gaza.
Some media outlets published a photo credited to “Ashraf Amra/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images,” showing a digger breaching the border fence. Reuters selected another photo by Amra, taken on October 7 inside Gaza, as one of its “Pictures of the Month” for October 2023.
Oh yes, there is more.

When I asked Muhammad Ali Raza why are you using this title? So in reply he said that I am not using this title myself, this word is a word created by my own soul that I would like to keep it as a title, I love this word very much. My friend Muhammad Ali Raza says that! All the social works that I have done in my life or all the efforts and services that I have in the showbiz industry at this time should be included in this album (Rooh-ul-Ali). Today is not the time of DVD or Cassette Recorder but the time of Internet. I want all this to be available on the Internet. Whenever my children remember me, they can easily search for me, see me and listen to me. . That's why I have named this album (Rooh-ul-Ali) which means (Soul of Ali). You can't see the soul, but I believe that you can definitely feel your soul. It has been a blessing that whenever I am present in the court of God's good guardian, I am present with the intention and belief that I have to tell this God to his servant and Alhamdulillah! Their souls speak to me. And through them I convey my concerns to my Almighty God. This does not mean that I am a sage or that I go to the courts and bow down to these pious beings. I ask for something. Don't even think that. I have a heartfelt commitment to these good people and I know what shirk and innovation is and may God protect me and my children and my friends from this shirk. My intention is to tell only that the pure and blessed Self of God Almighty is a soul which exists in every human being, the only difference is that who achieves his pure purpose by finding this soul. And Alhamdulillah! I have found that Holy Spirit and I seek my holy purpose from this Spirit and my purpose is fulfilled. Thank God! In this album of mine (Rooh-ul-Ali) there are the following lessons that I am trying to convey to you friends with the hope that on the day of judgment my good efforts will definitely become a resource (Rooh-ul-Ali) in the hereafter and my children especially my ( (Muhammad Mustafa Raza) after listening to this, the Almighty God, the One and Only, will surely make my prayers for forgiveness for me. Do it and give him a long life. My prayers and good wishes will always remain for me (Muhammad Mustafa Raza) and I hope that my Muhammad Mustafa Raza will definitely remember this and pray for me. InshaAllah. Amen!

Originally published on Substack, 4th October, 2023. Link!
Since this essay is 10.5k words, I've included the first section below the cut and a link to the Substack article.
A special thanks to Ubisoft ANZ for not only supplying an early copy of Mirage for me to review, but for inviting me to the game’s Sydney launch party this past Thursday. I had a brilliant time and adored meeting the amazing content creators, eating the delicious food, getting pushed outside because of fire alarm shenanigans, and having a ridiculously long 1-on-1 chat with Mirage’s narrative director, Sarah Beaulieu. Thanks for flying halfway across the planet to come and visit us!
INTRO
I have been simultaneously dreading and getting cautiously optimistic for this game for months now, but mostly I’ve been going out of my way not to think about it. My thought process was that when October 2023 came about, I wanted to go into Assassin’s Creed Mirage as neutrally as possible, because my relationship with Assassin’s Creed over the past few years has been turbulent to say the least. The first game I was around for the release of was Origins in 2017, for which I was monstrously hyped. Then when Odyssey was revealed at E3 in 2018, I crashed for I immediately hated it, decrying it along with hundreds of others online. When Valhalla came about in 2020, I simply did not care for it in the slightest. Both for Valhalla by itself, and for Assassin’s Creed as a brand.
I had entered my jaded phase, for I had played two games in a row of a thing I had recently fallen out of love with, and it was a bitter thing to experience. On top of that, I had quietly resigned myself, as had many others in my circle of friends, to never getting back the Assassin’s Creed we liked, and instead we would get more games that built entire countries with 60 hour campaigns. For back then, Assassin’s Creed wasn’t the only franchise Ubisoft was transforming. Post-Origins, their philosophy seemed to be to make everything bigger, better, and endless. A Unity within an Odyssey. I decided to cut my losses and squat on my “section” of the franchise that I liked the most, which are the 18th century games, and thought that would be enough to content me and that I would move on and find new obsessions to take the place that had been occupied by Assassin’s Creed.
Tumblr media
Burying my hopes and dreams for Assassin’s Creed in 2020. (Assassin’s Creed III, 2012 (Ubisoft))
Then mid-2020 happened. Ubisoft’s management were hit by claims of rampant bullying and sexual harassment that stretched all the way to the top of the company. Many high profile people were fired, but for this story, the two big names were Valhalla’s game director Ashraf Ismail, and Ubisoft’s CCO Serge Hascoët. If you weren’t around then, know it was a massive event. With Hascoët in particular gone, there came some hope that these changes would not only turf out abusers and change the general company culture for the better (the results have been mixed to say the least), but be felt in the way Ubisoft made its games. But if their games were going to change, then we’d have to wait for a few years as development pipelines had the chance to catch up.
When Mirage was revealed in September 2022, that cynicism Odyssey and Valhalla had left me with still had me in its grip. I watched the cinematic trailer and kind of felt nothing. Later when I had time to reflect on my emotions it felt both freeing and really fucking terrible. I didn’t care about this thing that had had me in some kind of death grip for six and a half years by then. I could watch this promise of a thing dangled before me and be fine in the thought that I had moved on. But that realisation of detachment felt bad. Because this franchise was the one that got me into video games beyond Nintendo party games in the first place. It was the thing that led me to meet wonderful people and open doors to opportunities like the Mentor’s Guild and Star Player programs, and having my work featured in For Honor not once, but twice.
But I didn’t want to think about that either. I put Mirage to the back of my brain and went on with my life. Mirage would come out eventually, and if it looked good, I’d play it.
And that was my headspace until about a week ago when I went to that launch party. Mirage is here, and boy do I have a lot to say about it.
Tumblr media
Basim ibn Is’haq, protagonist of Mirage. He has a nice face :) (Assassin’s Creed Mirage, 2023 (Ubisoft))
As a TL;DR review: Mirage is a solid AC game fans have been clamouring for for years. The gameplay loop is fun and engaging and fully committed to delivering the Assassin fantasy. The story likewise is good, but not great. It has memorable characters in Basim and Roshan and does reach some great dramatic moments, even if I found that its beats didn’t land as fully as they wanted. I highly recommend it for fans of Classic Creed. For New Creed fans/players who are looking for adventures like Odyssey, this game might not be for you as it exchanges country-sized maps for a single, dense urban environment (and whilst the map outside of Baghdad is large, it is mostly empty like Origins’ desert regions), has done away with character dialogue choices and romances, banished the focus on magic and mythology, and leans fully into the stealthy Assassin fantasy rather than the build-based branches of Assassin, Warrior, or Ranger you could spec into as Kassandra or Alexios. However, if you’re after some open world action adventure, historical tourism, and/or look to murder a bunch of pixel people, there’s a good chance you’ll have fun :)
This review has been split into two parts — a non-spoiler review that goes over gameplay and my general feelings on the narrative without going into details, and a longer, spoiler filled review that will be less focused on gameplay mechanics and more on narrative. I have marked where the spoiler section starts in bold and with a large page break. Feel free to come back and read my analysis on the spoiler sections once you have finished the game, as I have loads to say about it.

Parents padlocks late daughters’ grave to avoid rape in Pakistan
Tumblr media
Parents in Pakistan are now putting padlocks on their late daughters’ graves to prevent them from being raped by some randy men. According to a report, necrophilia cases are on the rise in the country and some social media users, including activists and authors have raised the matter once again on Thursday. First Post reports that one such user named Harris Sultan, an ex-Muslim Atheist activist and the author of the book “The Curse of God, why I left Islam” blamed hardline Islamist ideology for such depraved acts. “Pakistan has created such a horny, sexually frustrated society that people are now putting padlocks on the graves of their daughters to prevent them from getting raped. When you link the burqa with rape, it follows you to the grave,” Sultan tweeted on Wednesday Another Twitter user Sajid Yousaf Shah wrote, “The social environment created by #Pakistan has given rise to a sexually charged and repressed society, where some people have resorted to locking their daughter’s graves to protect them from sexual violence. Such a connection between rape and an individual’s clothing only leads to a path filled with grief and despair.” Women’s bodies have been unearthed and desecrated on several occasions in the past. The scariest necrophilia case ever reported in Pakistan was in 2011 when a grave keeper named Muhammad Rizwan from North Nazimabad, Karachi was arrested after he confessed to raping 48 female corpses. Rizwan was caught running away after desecrating a corpse. He had caught the attention of nearby grave diggers and some other people. Most recently in May 2022, some unknown men dug out the corpse of a teenage girl and raped it in the Chak Kamala village in Gujrat, Pakistan. This occurred on the same night the family had buried the deceased. According to reports, the shocking incident came to light when the deceased girl’s relatives visited the graveyard the next morning as per their religious traditions. The kin found the body dug up and lying uncovered. The body showed signs of rape. In 2021, some unknown men had carried out a similar barbaric act in Maulvi Ashraf Chandio’s village near the coastal town of Ghulamullah. In 2020, A man was arrested on February 28 after being caught red-handed raping a corpse of a woman in a graveyard in Punjab, Pakistan. The incident occurred in Okara City in the Punjab province. The accused was identified by his first name, Ashraf. In 2019, a woman’s dead body was allegedly dug up and raped by unidentified men in Karachi’s Landhi Town. The woman was buried in Ismail Goth Graveyard. The woman’s body was dug up one day after it was buried. The caretaker of the graveyard told the deceased’s family that a dog had removed the slab which was covering the grave. In 2013, a 15-year-old girl’s body was found lying outside her grave in Gujranwala and was reportedly assaulted sexually. Following this incident, the then chief minister of Punjab in Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif had ordered a swift inquiry into the incident. The matter reportedly is still sub-judice. Read the full article

Assassins creed origins main character
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Principally set in Egypt, near the end of the Ptolemaic period (4943 BC), the story follows a Medjay named Bayek of Siwa and his. It is the tenth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series. Having said that, we have other playable characters, we’re just not yet announcing who they are. Assassin's Creed Origins is a 2017 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. “It is primarily Bayek’s story and journey, and this is the decision we had made because it was what we came to in terms of when we were building this experience, the narrative, the gameplay, this is the experience we wanted to create,” said Game Director Ashraf Ismail. This does not seem to be the case in Origins. Here's All Characters Voice Actors of Assassin's Creed Origins ' Part I ' For the known Voice Actors So FarDo you recognize any voice actor Where do your. While both Evie and Jacob had their own story missions, they were split up fairly evenly and players could choose freely who they wanted to roam around the world as. This is in contrast to the two main characters in Syndicate. The Bayek voice actor issued a short video statement on Twitter notifying his followers of the AmA, and explained he was 'doing it just for LOLs, also to reveal all the crazy secrets of Assassin's Creed' (he apologised for saying 'LOLs'). Players won’t have to worry that the gameplay is being split up between the two as Aya will only be playable for certain missions in the game, according to Game Informer. Abubaker Salim, the voice actor and mocap artist for the main character of Assassin's Creed: Origins, will be doing a reddit AMA today () at 20:00 GMT. From Assassin's Creed Origins to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the protagonist is Layla Hassan, an ambitious former employee at Abstergo Industries who has developed a portable version of Animus technology, and is recruited into the Brotherhood of Assassins by William Miles, the father of Desmond Miles in Origins. Revealed at Gamescom, Bayek’s wife Aya will be playable. There has been much speculation that Assassin’s Creed Origins would have more than one playable character, and even the developers teased as much, but players have not received confirmation until now.
