On a scale of "Yeah, he's got another decade in him" to "Evan has already written the eulogy" how close is Mr. Ocean to dying?
Good question! I think the answer could be anywhere between 5 minutes from now and 5 decades from now...While that might seem like a huge range, 50 years is nothing to a cecaelia. Mr. Ocean himself knows that his time is near by the way he feels.
Now, that applies to the death of his physical body. But the bigger concern is the death of his mind, which as his crewmen have noticed, is happening fast.
In "Mage in the Making", Evan notices that Mr. Ocean is functioning quite a bit worse than he was just two years prior when he first joined the crew. He's reached a point where Evan considers him a liability and won't assign him contracts anymore.
Instead, Mr. Ocean is assigned to menial tasks around the Hollow, like hauling water, cleaning, and gathering firewood. Physically he doesn't struggle much. He has restrained both Alaine and Isaac with little effort, showing that his body is still pretty damn vigorous and probably has a few decades left in it yet.
The problem is, his brain is decaying faster than his body. He's forgetful, gets confused easily, and must be supervised more and more as time goes on.
My point is, while he might not physically "die" for quite some time, his mental decline will likely leave him in a vegetative-like state well before then.
I know that sounds depressing, and yeah, it is...However, keep in mind that Mr. Ocean is also consumed by a mysterious magical fungus, and its effects still aren't fully understood. In "Fungicide", Morbus says that this fungus has become one with his body and mind, to the point that fungicides actually harm him!
Mr. Ocean is literally more mushroom than man. He has been slowly changing forms, from person to plant, for centuries...
What I'm saying is, he is a rather unique case, and his "death" may not look the way we'd expect. It may not look like death at all, but rather, a transition.
Think about the properties of a fungus. It does something remarkable right before it dies...it sporulates! Will Mr. Ocean’s greenlite do the same? And if he and the greenlite are truly one, what does this mean for him after that?
Hmmm, maybe the Vermists are on to something...

razzek Hahaha the meme pic is killing me! XD I'm 'such a big gross fan of your work and Mr. Ocean's story has always been a fave. Poor guy still carrying on a thousand years later, trying to hide from a loss that will always be part of him. I hope they reunite somehow someday, if it's even possible.
You're a treasure, Razz! You're one of the OG Looming Gaia fans, not to mention an amazingly talented artist, and I'm so proud to have you on board. B)
I've always used Mr. Ocean to express the concept of long-term grief and how it can lead someone down a path of self destruction, even ages after the trauma occurred.
For most people, grief fades with time and they move on. But there are also people who, for whatever reason, struggle to move past their grief and it ends up consuming them, completely changing who they are well into old age.
Mr. Ocean is over a thousand years old; he's outlived many, many friends and loved ones. But his relationship with Solveig made such a deep impression on him that he can't seem to function without her, even centuries after her death. He yearns for a time, a place, and a life with her that is never coming back, and he just can't stop fixating on it.
Since the events of "Troubled Tides", he's made some progress building a new life for himself that he can enjoy, one that he doesn't try to escape with drugs. It may not be exactly like his life with Solveig, but he does have love and true friendship once more, and that's all he's ever really wanted.
In a world like Looming Gaia, anything is possible. I think he could very well reunite with Solveig someday, in some form. In the meantime, he's adjusting to a new chapter in his life and trying to make it one worth remembering.

So Mr. Ocean can liquify people?? wtf that's horrifying...
Yes he can! But this power isn't unique to him; any sorcerer who has mastered hydromancy can do this. Those who master waterbending eventually move on to other fluids, including those in a person's body. By vibrating bodily fluids hard enough, a hydromantic sorcerer can basically liquefy someone from the inside out. Horrifying indeed!
I will mention that this spell isn't used very often though, because it takes a ton of energy to cast and it's usually overkill. Mr. Ocean once used it to subdue Mr. Roach, but...well, Mr. Roach is a divine, so of course Ocean's going to pull out the strongest spells he has to deal with him.
But in general, sorcerers prefer to conserve their energy as much as possible. They do this by casting weaker spells that just disable their enemies, rather than killing them and pulping their corpses. Most of the time there is just no need to take it that far.
A good example is the battle from "Troubled Tides". In this battle, there was an undine using hydromancy to disable enemy soldiers, by pulsing their bodily fluids and causing them to pass out. She could have easily killed them if she wanted to, but she knew she had a lot of enemies to deal with, so she used the weakest spells she could get away with to stretch her power further. She disabled the enemies, then relied on her army of dorikori to kill them while they were down.
Long story short...Yeah, Mr. Ocean can liquefy people, but only as an absolute last resort. He's more likely to make his enemies piss themselves or get really dizzy or something. He takes the least harmful approach whenever possible.

What if somehow, by some way Ocean got to introduce Solveig to his parents? How awkward would this introduction be and what would they think of their sons terrian girlfriend? Would they beable to recognize their sons genuine love for her and vis versa? Or would they pitch a fit and try to forcefully break them up?
Hooooo boy, that would be a hell of an awkward scenario...
I really can't see it ending well. Mr. Ocean's parents weren't cruel or malicious people, but they suffered from extreme ignorance and arrogance. They assumed they were the smartest creatures and the most advanced culture in the region, and so they regarded humans as nothing more than stupid apes despite never really meeting one.
Mr. Ocean's mother always warned him that humans weren't capable of logic and reason, that they were violent by nature, and the best thing to do was leave them alone like wild animals. They regarded humans the way humans regard chimpanzees.
Unfortunately for her, there was nothing she could say to break Mr. Ocean's fixation on humankind. He was so smitten with humans, he would sneak away from Tekee and risk his life just to stand on the fringes of their world for a while.
So, let's say he brought one of these "stupid, violent apes" back home with him and said "Mom, Dad, this is my future wife!"...yeah, that wedding ain't happening lol.
His dad would flip out and get pissed, and maybe call to have Solveig executed. He would accuse her of being a spy, and taking advantage of his "mentally deficient" son to worm her way into Tekee.
But I could see Mr. Ocean's mother being a little more forgiving. She always coddled him because of his perceived disabilities, to the point of smothering him and denying him normal experiences.
If it were up to her, Mr. Ocean would be locked up in the palace for the rest of his life, never allowed to date or make friends or have adventures. She treated him like this because she knew the world would be cruel to him, and she only wanted to protect him from reality, not really understanding that she was denying him a life worth living. She just assumed he couldn't learn or socialize or do "normal" things, so she just wrote him off as an invalid and never even let him try...much like she assumed that humans couldn't act civilized.
She would gently explain to him (again, for the millionth time...) why cecaelia and humans can't be together, and then she would order the Tekeetian Guard to take Solveig back to her island. To kill her would be an act of war, and unlike her husband, she would rather stay neutral with the humans than make enemies of them. I think she would also order the guard to keep a closer watch on Ocean going forward, just to make sure he wasn't messing around with humans again.
The scenario ends with both Solveig and Mr. Ocean being punished and locked down further by their respective tribes...not exactly a fairytale ending.
Although they faced a lot of difficulties, I think the current timeline was still the best outcome they could have hoped for.

razzek Ahahaha! God I will never stop loving Mr. Ocean for exactly this kind of thing. XD Isaac the guy has been running a rebellion for like 500 years, he knows his shit. XD
It's so easy to underestimate him because he's just bumbling around like a dementia patient 99% of the time, but then there's that 1% of the time when he snaps into Badass Mode(tm) and surprises everyone lol

What if Soverain and Mr. Ocean's parents were never assassinated?
Now that's an interesting question...There are so many factors at play here, it's impossible to say what would really happen. But I can say two things for sure:
1 ) The Aquarian Alliance either wouldn't exist, or it would look very different than it does now.
The Tekeetian King and Queen were very strict about staying out of Terrian affairs. They believed that Terrians were too primitive-minded to interact with cecaelia in any meaningful way, so there was nothing to gain by provoking them or trying to form an alliance. They didn't exactly hate Terrians, they just thought of them as victims of their own ignorance; like stupid, savage apes that should be left alone in the wilderness.
After their deaths, Sovereign took this mindset to an extreme. He escalated this superiority complex into a genocidal rampage against the Terrians, believing they were too stupid to govern themselves at all, and they would eventually destroy the world if they were left to their own devices. He believes that cecaelia are the only species intelligent enough to govern a functioning society, so it's the cecaelia's responsibility to govern Terrians and everyone else.
If Sovereign's parents were still alive, they wouldn't have let him escalate to that point. They would have kept his aggressive behavior in check, and probably found alternative ways to solve the pollution crisis that Terrians were causing.
In the current timeline, Sovereign tried to solve this crisis with violence, and it failed. Mr. Ocean tried to solve it with peaceful activism, and that also failed. Given their isolationist mindsets, I think their parents wouldn't have approached the Terrians at all, believing they can't control the actions of others.
Instead, they would have been proactive about changing what they actually could, by starting in their own back yard. Rather than trying to make the Terrians stop polluting, the King and Queen would have promoted research to deal with this pollution so it didn't affect Tekee. They wouldn't care what happened to other Aquarians or the Terrians themselves, their concerns lied only with themselves and their people.
So, if the Aquarian Alliance did form, Sovereign wouldn't be the one to form it. It would be some other pissed off Aquarian(s) who want the Terrians to stop polluting the sea.
2 ) Mr. Ocean never would have met Solveig. In fact, he probably never would have interacted with Terrians at all.
Mr. Ocean claims he was "a slow child", and his tribe considered him intellectually disabled. Now, if you've read the series then you know Mr. Ocean isn't stupid. He's actually brilliant, but he is really quirky, and it's clear that his people didn't understand his unique way of thinking. They mistook his uniqueness for some kind of mental defect. They did not try to understand him, they only tried forcing him to conform with everyone else and act like someone he was not. Of course he struggled to do this, so they just wrote him off as "slow-minded".
After their parents died, Sovereign started experimenting on Ocean to "cure" his disabilities, but these treatments just made him sicker and sicker, until Sovereign just kinda banished him to a cave in the wilderness because he didn't know what else to do with him.
If the King and Queen were alive, they wouldn't have let those experiments happen, and they certainly wouldn't have banished their son. Mr. Ocean's parents did not understand his quirks any more than the rest of his tribe did, but at least they had genuine love for him. His mother was especially protective of him, and though her efforts to "fix" him were misguided, her heart was in the right place. She just wanted him to be healthy and happy.
To her, that meant keeping him away from anyone who might exploit his disabilities. She certainly wouldn't have let Mr. Ocean interact with Terrians, so he never would have fixated on the Blackoak Tribe, and never would have met Solveig.
With his parents still on the throne, Sovereign probably would have become a military general at some point, or maybe the tribe's head sorcerer. The point is, he would have been too busy to play mad scientist with Ocean. I'm sure he'd still be a narcissist, but instead of fucking with his brother's head and slaughtering innocent Terrians, he would have been forced to touch grass and get a life. By the time his parents died of old age and relinquished their thrones to him, he'd be married, more mature, and more chilled out. He wouldn't have as much opportunity to stew in anger and hatred as he did in the current timeline.
As for Mr. Ocean's fate, I think it would actually be a lot more tragic. His parents feared for his safety and didn't let him leave the palace much. They knew he would be bullied and exploited by others in the outside world (which was true, and unfortunately came to pass in the original timeline...)
This sheltering would have continued for as long as they lived, well into his adulthood. They wrote him off as a simpleton and greatly underestimated what he was capable of, so they wouldn't have invested much in his education or experiences. He would have been cooped up and coddled for most of his life, never challenged or encouraged to grow. In this way, I think he would have never reached his brilliant potential at all. He would have remained dim-witted and childish until the day he died, never knowing romance or adventure or anything beyond his backyard.
Honestly I'm not sure which timeline is "better"...In the original, Sovereign is out of control and entire kingdoms are at war, but Mr. Ocean has at least made a happy life for himself. But this alternate timeline is like the exact opposite; the world has more peace, but Mr. Ocean suffers.
That's really sad to think about. :( But very interesting nonetheless!

Anonymous asked: How would each of the stimmers (Jeimos, Elska, Evan and Glenvar) react to someone trying to stop them (e.g grab their hand or try to make them stop doing what they're doing)? Anonymous asked: (Same Anon as last question, coming to correct it. It's Mr. Ocean, not Evan. I think I read "-an" and my brain filled it in.)
That's a good question. I think how they react depends on who is trying to stop them and how, but generally speaking...
Jeimos: If you gently ask them to stop wringing their hands, or softly put your hands over theirs, they will try their best to stop for as long as they can. Now if you shout at them or slap/grab their hands, they will probably just cry and do it even more. Jeimos is a sensitive little people-pleaser who can't stand when people are upset with them. They wring their hands so intensely sometimes that their long, elven fingers get tangled together, which is as unpleasant as it sounds. Their crew does give them shit about the hand-wringing and tries to stop them, not to be mean, but because Jeimos actually injures themselves by doing it too much.
Elska: Elska likes following the rules. If someone she respects tells her that pacing is not allowed, she will stop. But that nervous energy has to go somewhere, and she'll probably start doing some other thing like stamping her hoof or messing with her hair. If someone she doesn't respect tries to make her stop, I imagine she'd just push them over and politely tell them to kiss her ass. (Can you imagine someone like Itchy trying to tell her what to do? Yeah, he's getting kicked into next Tuesday lol)
Mr. Ocean: His parents hated his constant "dancing" and pinned him down many times, trying to make him stop and be "normal". He seemed calm while he was pinned, but the moment they let him go, he'd just start dancing again. Mr. Ocean claims there is music inside him, and if he's asked to stop dancing, he'll start drumming or humming instead. If you ask him to stop, he will do his best, but the habit is so ingrained that he'll start up again in seconds without even realizing it. He can't help it, he's just gotta boogie! The only way he can stop dancing is by smoking copious amounts of dreamleaf, which will knock him on his ass for a while. But as soon as that high wears off...yep, it's right back to boogie town.
Glenvar: If you pull his thumb out of his mouth, you are absolutely getting bitten or punched in the face. Even his friends can't get away with this. Sucking his thumb is the only self-soothing technique he's got aside from drinking, and it's something he only does when alcohol isn't available. So unless you've got booze to give him, he's going to redirect all that nervous energy into beating the snot out of you. If you ask him to stop, no matter how politely, he'll just tell you to eat shit and keep doing it.

I love Mr. Ocean because he seems so chilled out no matter what. Does he ever get mad? What does it take to make him rage?
He's super chill! Actually in my original character notes for him, I wrote something like "Mr. Ocean must never use curse words or yell at anyone." That was a hard rule I wanted to stick to when writing him for the LG series.
He doesn't yell, curse, or call people names. He doesn't lash out with violence unless he has no other choice, and even then he will often hesitate. He never talks shit about people. Whatever anger he feels tends to manifest as sadness instead.
He raises his voice at Solveig after she killed his half-brother in "Ocean Returns to the Sea". Although I should mention he wasn't really angry at her, he was just overwhelmed with grief. He understood that she had no other choice and never held the murder against her. He also "killed" Roach to protect Alaine from him, but he did this knowing that Roach would just resurrect anyway, so no real harm done. In "Supply and Demand", he decapitates Roach for the same reason; not out of anger, but simply to protect people he loves from him.
When Disgrace attacked Drifter's Hollow, Mr. Ocean just calmly summoned rains, blasted a few bonewalkers, and buried dead villagers after the battle. He didn't scream at anyone or curse his enemies at any point. He never expressed anger towards Disgrace himself, just sadness that the event happened and concern for his friends.
And then there's "A Mage in the Making"...Itchy treated Mr. Ocean like absolute shit in this story for no good reason. He cussed him out, yelled at him, called him slurs, framed him, even physically assaulted him several times, and not once did Mr. Ocean retaliate with insults or violence. He didn't even raise his voice back at Itchy. In fact, he tried to calm him down and help him with his problems, and referred to him as "my friend" the entire time.
I mean, we're talking about a guy who can't even dredge up malice for a piece of trash like Sovereign. You know, the guy who bullied him, attempted to murder him, and medically tortured him for centuries? Mr. Ocean's not even mad. He loves his brother and continues to make excuses for all those terrible things he did.
So...I'm going to say no, Mr. Ocean doesn't really get angry. This is a very unusual trait, but then again, he's a very unusual person. His extreme docility is actually a major problem which has led to many people taking advantage of him in the past. Luckily, he has the Freelance Good Guys looking out for him now and they all have his best interest at heart.
If Mr. Ocean's loved ones are in peril, make no mistake, he will fight and even kill to protect them. But he's not the type to sit there and dwell on how much he hates his enemies or how the world has wronged him. He's really quick to forgive and forget.
So what could make him rage? Well, maybe a generous dose of zyrup...but that's about it. Anger just isn't in his nature. He's basically perma-stoned.
...Although I gotta admit, seeing him lose it on someone would be hilarious. I'm tempted to let him rage out once--and only once--in the entire series. Like, maybe Itchy pushes him on the wrong day and Mr. Ocean just lets loose with curses, slurs, assault, you name it. Everything shitty Itchy ever did to him, Ocean does it back twice as hard. The reaction is totally out of character, it comes out of nowhere, it ends abruptly, and it never gets mentioned again.
Or better yet, maybe he should unleash that fury on Sovereign...hmmmm...

Wait is Alaine x Glenvar x Mr. Ocean actually canon? Their poly?
I'm actually not sure how to answer this because I don't even know myself lol. This ship spawned from one little throwaway gag in a story, I think it was "Nymph's Hollow"?
Evan hears Alaine and Glenvar doing...something...in a tent, he assumes they're fucking, and tells them to knock it off. The two leave the tent, then to his surprise, Mr. Ocean scurries out after them.
The scene doesn't dwell on this at all, and while you're meant to assume they were having a weird threesome in there, it's never explicitly said what was happening.
I mean, it's totally possible. But I think it's equally possible that Mr. Ocean was just chillin and doing drugs in there while the other two were getting their drunken freak on. He's a cecaelia, his species is asexual by nature and doesn't get all wound up about that stuff. He wouldn't care if they were doing it right beside him, and Alaine and Glen wouldn't care if he was there either because they both have a keg's worth of alcohol in their blood.
So, my final verdict? If you want this ship to be canon, then it's canon. ;) And if you don't like it that's fine too, because it's never confirmed either way.

Why do decapitated cecaelia sometimes take longer time to grow their body back than others? When Roach gets decapitated in Supply and Demand, it says it's going to take half a year, but in another story Mr. Ocean regenerates in just about a day?
Good question! A cecaelia's regeneration speed is directly tied to their magical prowess. A cecaelia who practices magic a lot has a higher threshold for how much magical energy their body can handle at one time. These cecaelia will regenerate faster than those who don't practice very much.
Older cecaelia will naturally be better at this because they have had more time to practice magic. Roach is still young by cecaelia standards, and according to Mr. Ocean, he is also impatient when it comes to learning magic, so he doesn't practice as much as he should.
Cecaelia who specifically practice curative (healing) spells can regenerate even faster. We know that Mr. Ocean is quite skilled with this type of magic, able to mend broken bones and open wounds in a matter of seconds. So, he is able to "heal" himself very quickly when he gets decapitated.
All cecaelia can regenerate a new body. It's a passive ability that they're born with, and it will happen whether they like it or not. But those who have conditioned their minds and bodies to accept more magical energy have more control over this process, meaning they can speed it a long much faster.
It can take anywhere from several years to just a few minutes for a cecaelia to grow a new body, depending on their skill and the environment they're growing in (polluted water, for example, can slow them down). The most powerful cecaelian sorcerers can get decapitated and be perfectly fine 5 minutes later.
(This is what makes them so scary in battle, they can be tricky to kill. Just like with zombies, sometimes you think you've put them down for good, then they get up again and surprise you!)
Also, I should mention that another curative mage can help a decapitated cecaelia grow a new body faster by casting healing spells on them. These mages don't have to be cecaelia themselves, but they do have to know what they're doing. A crummy, inexperienced mage can screw up the process and cause the new body to develop wrong. If that happens then the process must be started all over again, which wastes even more time.
I imagine Mr. Roach had at least one curative mage at his disposal to speed his regeneration along. Otherwise it probably would have taken a lot longer than it did.

Theory: Mr. Ocean is only sweet and gentle because everyone is a toddler compared to him. He's just treating them like little kids because to him they are!
ANON I LOVE THIS LMAO
Mr. Ocean strikes me as one of those people who feels like they never grew up. Even though he's physically older than almost everyone around him, he behaves as if he's younger because he assumes that everyone is smarter, more capable, and more "grown up" than him. Mentally he is wise but socially he's like a child. He never takes positions of authority. Even as leader of the Oceanic Resistance, he always bent to Mr. Roach's wishes because he assumed Mr. Roach knew better than him.
He pissed most of his life away either being coddled by his parents or high on drugs. The only time he was forced to "grow up" were those 80 years with Solveig, and that isn't very long from a cecaelia's perspective.
I think there is some truth to your idea, in that Mr. Ocean recognizes how young everyone is compared to him, but he doesn't really patronize them for it. He still assumes that they are smarter and more mature than him, which shows just how little self-confidence he has.
In "Mage in the Making", he actually says that he envies the short-lived species because their fleeting lives are more precious. He believes they must value their lives more than his species does, simply because they have less time to spare.
However, I think most ancient cecaelia do become jaded and patronizing to others. When you've been alive for 800+ years, you might feel like you've done it all, seen it all, and no one can possibly teach you anything you haven't already learned--especially not someone who's less than a century old. A 50-year-old human is practically a fetus compared to you, what do they know?
That childlike wonder is what makes Mr. Ocean unique compared to the rest of his kind. No matter how much time passes, he's still amazed by the world and everything in it, even by things he's already seen before. He never assumes that he knows it all, and he's fascinated by everything he encounters.

razzek Holy shit. Mr. Roach, the ends do not justify the means here o_o Talk about making things worse in the long run o_o
Yeeeep...this is exactly the kind of shit Mr. Ocean was trying to warn him about in "Supply and Demand". In one ear and out the other. 🤦

Which FGG has the biggest body count?
If you're talking about sex: Javaan.
If you're talking about murders by proxy: Mr. Ocean.
If you're talking about direct murders: Elska or Alaine.
Mr. Ocean was running the Oceanic Resistance for hundreds of years, and considering it's a militant group...yeah, it would be hard to beat his score. I don't think he's killed that many people personally, but his soldiers killed thousands in the name of his cause, so I feel he is still responsible for those deaths.
As for Elska...She hasn't been a mercenary for nearly as long as Evan and the others. Yet whenever they turn her loose in battle, she ends up killing 10x more bad guys than everyone else, so I think she surpassed their counts pretty quickly.
But then there's Alaine, who was an Alliance soldier for 10 years. It's unknown how many battles she saw or how many people she directly killed, but based on how bad her PTSD is, I think we can safely assume it was a lot.

Why does Mr. Ocean have a Mr. in his name?
That's a good question! In Universa (the language most of the characters speak), "Mr./Ms./Mrs." titles are often used to show respect.
As a sorcerer, a former prince, and the leader of a powerful political faction, Mr. Ocean naturally commands a lot of respect. Even if someone didn't know his history, his ancient age alone would compel them to use the "Mr." title for him. Elderly people, sorcerers/sorceresses, and celebrities are examples of people who would get titled like this by most people.
These titles are not given freely, they are earned in some way. Mr. Ocean was known simply as "Ocean" when he was younger, but as his power and influence grew, he started hearing the "Mr." more often when people addressed him. After someone reaches a certain status like he has, the title just kinda just becomes a given.
Whether or not someone uses the title can also depend on their relationship with the person. For example, Evan sometimes calls his crewmen "Mr./Ms.(last name)", but he also calls them by their first names. It just depends on the situation. When he's trying to appear professional, he titles them. Otherwise he's more relaxed about it.
The same goes for Mr. Ocean. You might notice characters occasionally dropping his title and just calling him "Ocean". Depending on context, this can be a sign of disrespect or just a sign that they're extra comfortable around him. But because of his exceptionally high status, very few people are willing to drop that "Mr." like they're willing to drop it for other lower-status characters.
Some sorcerers and other high-status people can get really buttmad when you don't address them with these titles. Mr. Ocean isn't one of them, but there are some who feel like they worked hard to earn that title and god help you if you don't address them with it...
These titles can be highly contextual. For example, children are expected to address every adult with "Mr." and "Ms./Mrs." because compared to them, adults have a lot of power and authority. Adults are to children what sorcerers are to mages; someone they must look up to whether they like it or not. A child addressing an adult without a title is always considered disrespectful.
Kind of like walking up to a king and calling him "dude"...you just don't do that. The same applies to dropping Mr. Ocean's "Mr.". You can call your friends "dude", but addressing someone like Mr. Ocean that way isn't really appropriate unless you're particularly chummy with him.
((SPOILERS FOR "SUPPLY AND DEMAND" BELOW))
You may also notice that the character Roach was simply known as "Roach" during his first few appearances. But after he replaced Mr. Ocean as leader of the Oceanic Resistance, he became known as "Mr. Roach". This is because he reached a certain social/power status just like Mr. Ocean had. He had effectively earned that "Mr." title by leading an influential political faction.
I hope I explained that in a way that makes sense!

Also as an extra funny idea I can’t get over. Elderly Solveig and Mr.Ocean in a nursing home together, and all the old people shenanigans that may happen. Like solveig being that snappy kinda old lady keeping both the nurses and her husband in line. And ocean playing bingo and just being so confused the whole time.
That's so cute, I love it lol. There probably is a timeline where this is happening, and you can bet Mr. Ocean is taking every random pill he finds on the floor while Solveig tells the nurses how to do their jobs.
