Attacco alla Natura

Non solo in Italia, ma forse con meno disprezzo per il Regno Vegetale... La Germania si accinge ad abbattere 120.000 alberi nella antica foresta di Reinhardswald, che si estende su una superficie di 20mila ettari, per erigere turbine eoliche di 241 metri, ed ottenere una potenza nominale (in condizioni di vento ottimali) di 5,6 megawatt.

Una piccola parte di questa superficie, pari a 92 ettari, è conosciuta come “foresta primordiale di Sababurg” ed è protetta dal 1907.

Nel progetto è previsto che 8,2 ettari di foresta verrebbero disboscati in modo permanente per la costruzione degli impianti, mentre 12,1 ettari verrebbero convertiti solo temporaneamente per allargare e asfaltare i sentieri esistenti. Una volta terminati i lavori di costruzione, le aree interessate pare che verrebbero poi riforestate.

Anche se, come viene detto, non verranno toccate aree della foresta in cui sono presenti alberi molto vecchi, è stata ipotizzata una presenza di 150 faggi per ettaro, che ridurrebbe quindi il numero di alberi abbattuti.

Il responsabile della conservazione della natura e vicedirettore generale in Assia dell’organizzazione ambientalista "Bund für Umwelt und Naturschutz Deutschland", Thomas Norgall, aggiunge che «è probabile che a Reinhardswald si trovino alberi con un’età di 800 anni solo in casi isolati, se non addirittura nessuno».

Mark Harthun, membro dell’Unione per la conservazione della natura e della biodiversità dell’Assia, sottolinea che il 90% delle turbine eoliche sarà eretto in aree dove sono presenti alberi di abete rosso già morti e disboscati a causa dei cambiamenti climatici. Secondo Harthun, gli alberi di diverse centinaia di anni si trovano solo nella “foresta primordiale di Sababurg”.
