my hot take of 2023 is that i know canonically auri looses all her powers at the end of ae but in my mind she just keeps like a beta version of them where she’s not quite as powerful and literally god-like as before, but her power doesn’t hurt her when she uses it and she’s still able to sense people minds/communicate mentally. so like eshvaren lite, and ofc she uses it to assist the syldrathi as they rebuild their community and culture from the ground up. bc im soooo fed up with authors taking away strong female leads powers *cough cough sjm COUGH COUGH* at the end of a series i could write a book about how overplayed and lazy it is to just strip away a female characters powers after the main conflict of the plot is done as if we can’t trust/imagine her going on to use those powers on her own accord instead of being forced into using them by some figure/event. it makes that character feel so one sided like their value as a person outside of that power is invaluable, instead of using that power to further develop who they are as a person. also to open up all the potential in her and kal being able to communicate telepathically just to throw it all away three chapters later was an actual crime. like y’all better lmk next time you see mr kristoff (bc I just know he was behind that plot point) because i have a warrant out for his arrest and a passion for my cause. 2024 Horror Challenge: [19/?]

↳“What about you? Do you like girls?" "I don't know." "Boys?" "I- I- I think that, I like TV shows.” I Saw the TV Glow (2024) dir. Jane Schoenbrun

Plot: Two teenagers bond over their love of a supernatural TV show, but it is mysteriously cancelled.

Starring: Justice Smith & Brigette Lundy-Paine with Helena Howard, Lindsey Jordan, Conner O'Malley, Emma Portner, Ian Foreman, Fred Durst & Danielle Deadwyler

Now this has been one of those movies I've been hearing a lot of buzz for beforehand so it's definitely had me curious about it for a little while so once I heard it was available ofc I had to check it out. I wasn't sure what to actually expect though since I didn't even read the blurb saying what it was about or watch a trailer. All I knew was that poster (it's eye-grabbing) and who the leads were. lol But I figured it was about them getting trapped in a TV or something, you know? My mind instantly went to at least like Videodrome maybe. I didn't realize the movie was directed by the same person who did We're All Going to the World's Fair (which I haven't seen yet but plan to eventually), which I do know is very experimental with how its presented. That certainly explains some of the choices made with this one. It's obviously a very personal piece of work by Jane Schoenbrun so I don't wanna be overly critical about said choices but it's safe to say it's not a movie for everyone necessarily. At least when you consider how you like your horror movies maybe. It's slow and not scary but it did pull me in enough I was invested. I appreciate the message behind it and think it's important to see more stories that bring up these kinds of thoughts & questions. If nothing else, it's very unique story-wise. It's no surprise that it was an A24 production. I was definitely all in for the aesthetic of the whole thing for sure, especially with how they handled the TV show stuff. And I do also wanna commend the actors for their part in this as well. Brigette Lundy-Paine I know because of the show Atypical and their performance in this is pretty fearless (meaning in particular the second half of the movie) & I will say Justice Smith kept making me forget it was him throughout. Ian Foreman did a wonderful job playing his character's younger self. It's interesting because I don't know if I can say that I truly loved the movie as a whole but I am glad I watched it because it did feel quite original and refreshing. So, there's that.

-Favorite Time Of Year: Fall/Autumn🍁, I just like the word autumn over fall, the weather is so nice I can wear my denim coat with all my pins, I can still wear tank tops and everything looks so beautiful at that time, green trying to stick around through the browns, tans, yellows, oranges and reds! Just so nice to watch and sit around.

-Comfort Food: gummy bears/worms 🧸 are my go to when I feel like crap. Ive wanted one of those 10lb gummy worms 🐛 for years!!! I would probably eat it all in less than a week 😅

-Do You Collect Something: Rocks!! ⛰️ 😂 I love different shapes and sizes and colors, the fact that you can find an "ugly" rock and smash it (or cut it in half properly) and it can contain a whole new world or beauty inside, crystals, minerals and just fun formations in the stone.

Hint, most "ugly" bumpy craggley oval or round stones are probably geodes. If you're lucky you can hold these up to your ear and shake them and you can sometimes hear dirt and debris rattling up against the inside to confirm without cutting or smashing.

-Favorite Drink: Strawberry anything 🍓, milkshakes, soda, tea, bubba. I'm sure everyone I know would say coffee tho 😂

-Favorite Song/Artist: Stevie Nicks!! ❤️ Landslide makes me cry but I love it and Edge of Seventeen is just my favorite. I love Fleetwood Mac too but Stevie was my first crush and I saw that picture of her in the white dress with doves around her and thought she was a real life angel as child. Like touched by an angel style angel. Good show btw 🤷 preachy ofc but good
