hi hi!! i’ve been a bit busy with year end tests/finishing up highschool so i’ve been lurking without saying hi TT and i do agree that their other title tracks are a lot, i got into kpop bc of them and i’d be lying if i said it wasn’t hard for me to get into. i also kind of didn’t expect you to be into them because based off atz music is ALOT more different from zb1 or svt music but i’m glad you like them!! i love love dune when i first heard it because of how amazing his vocals are, i’m such a sucker for high notes in songs so when i heard it i just fell in love straight away!! halazia is amazing too!! i really do love yeosang’s voice in the pre chorus, and i love love minnie’s tone in every idle song really. it’s so unique!! nowadays im just glad they’re finally utilizing yeosang’s voice seeing as they never really did give him lines before.

cyberpunk and take me home are two of my top favs of theirs!! and also i realized that everytime i send an ask they always get so so long,,, im sorry for bothering you sksksk 😭😭😭

but yes!!! ateez music is v different than svt and zb1, and i will admit i stayed away from them bc of it. there’s a specific style in bg music that turns me off from a lot of groups and bc of it i stayed from ateez. but!! i’ve always found the members funny n cute, thought hongjoong and mingi were cool lol and i’d been wanting an excuse to get into them!!

i am such a vocal girlie!!!! i love vocals sm, one way to get me into a group is through their vocals. it’s how i got into zb1; i adored matthew and taerae’s vocals!! i don’t know about the vocals of the other members in the group besides jongho, so i definitely need to look into their other songs and will check both of those out!!! i see cyberpunk mentioned a lot amongst atiny kekeke

someone asked me why i dont think the onlyoneof comeback is queerbait and i thought it was an interesting topic.

to make things clear, im a wlw, so while i can identify with the mv and love it, take my opinion w a grain of salt.

i think this about every single kpop mv but apparently some ppl dont: theyre acting. always. atz arent ruthless pirates, weki meki dont dislike your gf, idle arent lions and so on. onlyoneof are playing explicitly gay characters that are in love w each other in this particular mv in the same way stray kids role play throwing down the government or svt acts like all 13 of them are in love with the same girl.

"the lyrics say girl so its heteronormative". while i get why it can seem like that (and maybe it is like that!), one of the first gay videos i saw was hozier's take me to church, where a gay couple struggle w religion and persecution. the lyrics only use female pronouns, but the whole community adopted this song (sang by an openly straight man) as a hymn of religious trauma. what's different between that straight man talking about lust, religion and queerness from onlyoneof doing it? apart from ooo being poc that come from an actual conservative country that will publicly shame them for this decision (and its currently doing exactly that!)

"girl groups could never get away with this" sistar did, they had the mv for one more day, where they murdered an abusive bf and ran away together(be gay do crimes i approve). gidle has sapphic lyrics, they also touch each other a lot in choreos (soojin slaps asses and rubs titties, good for her). twice has a video where members play e/o's love interests too. if knetizens hate wlw, that has nothing to do with onlyoneof and mlm in general, its simple bigotry and contributing to the hate these men get just makes u a bigot too. its not like onlyoneof simply swiped into stage grabbing one another w no consequences, theyre already being called slurs and what not, both by koreans and westerners alike.

onlyoneof arent sexualizing queer relationships, their concept has been sexual leaning since the start, two years ago, the fact that theyre not shying from keeping the same energy just shows theyre professionals. they portray sexuality as something soft despite the guilt queer ppl often associate w sex, its not depraved like gay sex (especially mlm) is portrayed by media, its not demonized, and its almost reverent in the way they touch each other throughout the mv.

i know that while using this 'concept' they will gain more attention, im not foolish enough to think their company actually wants to make gay ppl feel okay, but the way they put everything together in such a respectful way cant be ignored, the cinematography is beautiful, the song is a bop and all 7 of them are amazing actors.

so these are a few reasons why i actually consider the mv queer representation and not simple queerbaiting. the choreo still makes me feel divided, but it does go well with the lyrics, so ill give it a pass. i would love to hear other queer ppl's opinion about the whole thing.

all the girls except soyeon went to the universal studios theme park in singapore (didn't even know they had one until now tbh) and look how cute they look.

just so adorable. hopefully soyeon gets to join them next time.

today is idol radio, and the guest group for today is mirae, the rookie boy group that debuted last year (kard's sunbae group). their leader, junhyuk, is a huge yunho stan and got the chance to meet him and even share some comforting words to him. when yunho shared his encouraging words, however, the man broke down and started crying 😭😭. it was such a precious moment.

other than mirae, djs daengdi (yunho) and joongdi (hongjoong) also met with oneus, lapillus, a couple of tnx and atbo and younite, rocket punch, and tempest. the full free episodes for all of them (mirae's coming soon) are on the universe app, and eps 1-3 are on youtube.
