The Grumbo Apocalypse / Monster Horror AU

Massive thank you and credit to @angeart for helping me out with this AU of mine, coming up with new ideas, listening to my insane rambles, writing cool stuff, and making some brilliant concept art!

SO the 'grumbo apocalypse / monster horror' AU is sort of what it says on the tin? Mumbo is just a regular guy with a coding job who wakes up one day to a nice bright apocalypse outside.

The sky turns white, the sun turns black, shadows become death traps, wormhole open up in the middle of the road... you get the picture. At first, everything is reported on by local news stations- it all seems rather mundane despite the horror of it all. People are hunted down by various monsters in the streets, and you can hear all about it on the ten 'o clock news.

Still, eventually, humanity seems to flicker out. No more electricity. No more news. Mumbo goes to his living room window and Something looks back at him. So he does what any self-respecting person would do, and cowers under the windowsill waiting to die.

The monster that breaks into his house through the glass is something the media called an 'outsider'. Its form shifts, changing fluidly with horrible wet sounds. It has scales and feathers which move across its pale skin like insects. Two- five- three- two eyes. A mouth, filled with rows of teeth and black bile, opens up from nothing on its face. It stares at Mumbo. Mumbo thinks he's going to die.

Then the monster speaks to him. It says 'hello' in a disjointed, stuttering voice. Mumbo doesn't die. The monster tries to look more human. It's name is Grian, apparently.

Grian is part of a species which existed long before the apocalypse. A monster which lived on the outskirts of towns and cities, usually just keeping to themselves. Like pests, they would sometimes wander into isolated houses, and find themselves nesting there.

Outsiders- we will call them that for now- can change form easily. Naturally. They also mimic sounds. Voices. Screams of the dead. And they are designed to blend in. To slip into a home, kill a human, take their voice, become them. If they feel threatened enough.

The apocalypse made them angrier, more feral. Hunting, eating, killing humans just seemed natural, despite their generally passive past.

Mumbo survives because he freezes. Naturally, he's the type to panic and stop moving entirely. He freezes and hides and waits. Outsiders are built to chase a moving target. They don't tend to attack an unmoving figure.

Grian settles, and Mumbo becomes his new friend. Like that, because Mumbo is still reeling from not being slashed to death or eaten, Grian simply stays. Or, Mumbo stays.

Grian is very protective of Mumbo. They leave the city, Grian using his teeth and claws to kill any threats. Into the forest, they find Grian's nest- where his flock is (though Mumbo can never quite be sure if they are there, hidden in the shadows) and they survive.

It is nice, for a while.

Grian only sometimes talks in an original voice. He can speak his own language (chirps, whistles, gurgles, clicks) just fine, but he is only made to mimic human language. The most basic words- though he's learning. He can use the voices of the dead (and has a funny habit of replicating their dying screams).

(Mumbo tries not to hear familiar screams in Grian's voice)

(If he has nightmares about it, and panics when he wakes up wrapped in Grian's arms, the arms of a killing machine, he doesn't mention it)

But, also, the apocalypse, and living in the forest, and cuddling with a being designed to kill and replace you, is scary. Mumbo wants to go home. He wants to stay. The sky is white. His mind can't quite take it.

And when another monster tries to attack him, he runs. Grian kills the monster fast. He sees Mumbo running. Instinct triggers. He pounces.

Mumbo tries to forgive Grian for the scratches. (They aren't scratches. Mumbo calls them scratches. They run deep). He still flinches for the next week whenever Grian gets close. They both know it couldn't have been helped- their instincts are incompatible. Human and monster. Made enemies by the end of the world.

Grian tries to make himself more human. Two eyes, two arms, two legs, no tail, less feathers, smoother skin, a normal face, a normal voice. It hurts to hold that form. It hurts to look at his true form, knowing it scares Mumbo. It's worth the pain to pretend they are a normal pair.

Neither of them talk. Neither of them try. Soon, one of them will break, and the other will come crumbling down after... but that's a story for another day.

Fallen Angel Bradley;

After stealing a lighting bolt and gifting it to humankind (because Bradley has a heart of gold💛) he's banned from heaven and tho he lives between people for many, many years. Until he meets Jake in flight school (being an angel doesn't mean you shouldn't have a job!) Jake who is a little lost demon, banned from Hell because demons born from fire with a burning scar on their body, naming their human mate (isn't that true? Everyone of us has a little evil somewhere hidden inside that sometimes whispers things like; it's OK to eat more cookies right before lunch!🤭) but Jake's mate was an angel.

They become rivals, somewhere in the middle one argument leads to another, turns to yelling that echoes around empty locker room and Bradley rushes in, kisses Jake so hard to shut him up so it's how they start sleeping together ❤. They find out about their true identify but they still love each other!

Finally one day, Gods forgive Bradley for stealing fire and so he's given his wings to return but.. he decides to stay between people on Earth with his demon partner forever💗.

i have a sasharcy au forming that i now need to tell yall about so i can tell you something else

it’s an au where sasha is transmasc and goes by alex except marcy calls him sashy and sashimi still and they’ve known each other for a looooong time. and then they start dating and are super close, and then they go somewhere similar to what amphibia was to the canon girls. and then they get separated and are sad but generally okay, and they get reunited and chill and hang out for a bit and then alex makes a bad decision and gets them betrayed. and then the enemy dude hurts marcy really bad but not like fatally or anything like the stab, and alex sees and tries to go berserk, but his friend/mentor type dude who’s bigger and stronger than him keeps him from getting captured at the expense of marcy getting captured instead. and then more stuff happened i’m not sure of, and i guess marcy gets hurt more. dw, alex gta hurt and lotta scars and stuff, and he uses a sword, and at some point he loses an eye. oh shoot, btw they’re like nineteen at this point, i forgot to mention that. and then they get reunited, except not really cause marcy really needs medical attention and so people come and they get separated again, except alex is doing so badly mentally about marcy that he won’t let them take her from him and they have to hold him back. and then they’re both in a hospital and he tries to get to her but his older brother named david keeps him from hurting himself or anything. and then timeskip and they get reunited for real and there’s lots of crying. and then they get married. and then there’s a random scene in the future where marcy has chronic pain from the injuries and alex holds her and helps and general fluff stuff.

anyway that was all so i could say that ‘Six feet apart’ by Alec Benjamin is a song that fits the au perfectly

Anyway, I dunno..titles always sound weird when I'm first picking them out. Especially since y'know, everything in my docs is either titled "Incredibly specific plot point" or "You will never guess what this is about"

Hmm...there's so many good plot points in that, reminds me of part of a poem I heard once "Where were they when you called their name, and they lit the fire?"

"Starcrossed" would work, cliche as it sounds, "Burning Springs" too, "A Sense of Regret", "A Past to Remember",

"Haunted by Flames of Another Life" if you wanna get REALLY wordy.

I think it'd be cool if Tamlin had the ability to manipulate and control electricity (electrokinesis), and lightning in particular. (I've actually been thinking about since yesterday).

I imagine Tamlin would have the ability to control electricity (and lightning) in different ways:

1. He can generate it in his own body, like an electric eel. This would manifest as electricity, crackling throughout his body when he's ready to use it, and when he isn't using it at all.

2. He can harness it. Tamlin can harness electricity, imbuing his weapons or just his fists with it, to cause extra damage to his enemies. His own body would be a weapon, both via the ability to electrocute his enemies (high voltage) and the ability to stun them (low voltage).

3. Summoning lightning. Tamlin can summon lightning with deadly accuracy, and this power is greatly magnified during a thunderstorm. Along with all of this, Tamlin himself is immune to getting electrocuted and is not affected by his own power, so he is able to discharge electricity to attack without causing himself harm.

An Updated and (Hopefully) Final Species List for the AU!!

Love the idea of making them a horror fan it makes so much sense lol. Also love the idea of bringing more Lynne since that'd make them more heroic which this character would be more interesting as a hero anyway.

Oh wait, so to bring in the possession pic from earlier. Maybe this starts out with Lynne trying to figure what happened mentor/friend but keeps dying again. Now Bill sensing opportunity strikes up a deal with her to posses her every time she's boutta die. Because this has to do with Bill potentially getting a real form again. And Lynne doesn't know Bill 100% plans on throwing her off a building when he's done with her. But as Lynne gets more interested in Bill and sympathetic towards him, Bill actually starts to warm up and even like this fleshbag much to his shock.

And this opens up a opportunity for Bill he otherwise would've never taken. U see Bill could be in real form easily powers and all but he'd have to fuse with someone and give up half his mindscape which before was unthinkable to him. But now that he likes Lynne and the stakes are ramping up super high in whatever story this would be lol. They fuse together to make Lybil to solve the rest of the mystery. Fuck it Demon Trick AU I coined it lol

I did want to mention about the possession idea on the first ask but got too lazy other than: Lynne not being too desperate to make a deal with Bill ngl.

Like it's too good to be true. That and she has Sissel.

Hmm... that doesn't stop her from dying far from Sissel though. Or at least somewhere that takes too long or difficult to save Lynne.

Hm, what if Bill takes interests in Lynne because of Temsik and easy prey?

Sissel thinks Bill is suspicious but doesn't know why.

Raysile have not expected outside intervention in a form of Bill. Also suspicious but doesn't know why.

Lynne's first death is how she met Bill in this AU, getting someone get possessed is his shtick! (Well that and dealing)

And maybe just maybe. Lynne's subsequent deaths while they're partnering up is how they slowly fuse?

Time traveling back as a new person to stop the second timeline of events happening. Yeah let's drag in Raysile too there. Happi ending for all

Selkie Jake au:

Bradley coming home after a mission, being on a vacation, someplace near beach, a nice villa belonging to uncle Ice (in this au he lives with his uncle Ice after he lost his parents in a car accident) and one day walking idly on beach, early morning, he finds a beautiful boy wandering alone, a bewildered look on his face and he tries to run away from Bradley when he sees him and he stumbles on a rock and accidently hurts his ankle which Bradley has to carry him to his house for patching him up. This lovely stranger doesn't let go of Bradley, nuzzling him, hooking his arms around his neck and not letting go (Bradley has to work while the stranger has a death grip on his shirt hehe) so after that he tries to talk to him, makes him eat something or just take a shower. He wraps the boy in blankets, scrambles up something for him to eat and then sits with him. He think Jake's one of locals that just maybe hurt himself and can't remember something until Jake curls himself around Bradley and says his name in low voice.

Jake stays a few days at Bradley's house and during this time Bradley finds out he's from sea and had lost his selkie coat and without that he can't return to his sea family. 🦭🦭🦭

He takes Jake to beautiful places he knows around the area and Jake actually comes out to enjoy and love being with humans. Till that day Bradley accidently sees a white mink coat exactly how Jake described in one of local stores. Saying one of fishermen found it on the shore.

He buys coat but hides it from Jake because, well, wouldn't you fall in love with a beautiful, lovely, cute sea creature in a week and so? While that said person is spending whole day actually hanging of you in any sort and asking for cuddles and nuzzles?

It's been a month when Jake finds the coat (right when at time he was about to tell Bradley he's in love with him and he wants him to be his mate💗) he thinks Bradley stole then hid the coat on intention to keep Jake for himself so he wears the coat and runs away 🥀

[So I’ve been thinking about an Au I came up with like last night, basically, it’s this spin off idea based on “what if all 5 of the BATIM novel kids had met and become a good group of friends somehow, probably all investigating the ink and the machine somehow together,

So this specific AU is sort of like a Prince and the Pauper type deal between Buddy and Bill (bc I just absolutely believe if they had met, they’d just get along so well, regardless of their economic statuses being so drastically different, and I will absolutely die on this hill)

So the basic gist of this AU idea is:

Buddy and Bill agree to see what it’s like to live in the other’s lifestyle, for say, about a week or two or maybe 3, like, long enough to get an idea for what a normal way of life is like for the other. And I just keep getting so many ideas about the amount of culture shock these two experience during this little swap, Bill realizing just how mindful he has to be about things like keeping lights on for too long, how he probably doesn’t know how to do his own laundry or cook for himself, realizing just how much responsibility he now has to help Bud’s family make it through the week(s) he’s staying there in Bud’s place and just how hard it is to try and make ends meet for people in Bud’s place. Meanwhile, Bud’s probably just in absolute disbelief about the concept of having people work for him (like The Chambers’s house staff), the idea of someone doing something if he asks them (very politely, mind you) to, maybe even just getting overwhelmed by the idea that he not only has fancier clothing, but MULTIPLE SUITS AND EXPENSIVE GLOVES AND ALL THAT JAZZ.

The panic that it’s so painfully obvious they’re so far out of their regular element, that at first it feels almost impossible to adjust. Buddy suddenly having to learn all this very specific etiquette, fancy table mannerisms, realizing just how materialistic and powerful the Chambers family (Mainly Bill’s dad) is, and how immensely important it is to maintain a specific, well kept appearance, how everything has to look perfect, spotless, a stained shirt is immediately discarded for a clean, crisp one, utensils with even a small smudge are swapped out for spotless shiny new ones, all of this superficial yet massive effort to just put on a show for those below them. Where as Bill’s probably now having to try and manage a language barrier (since I’ve always pictured that the Lewek Family spoke in Yiddish and/or Polish at home), Bill having to try and learn all these phrases and expressions, not to mention the language barrier between Bud’s grandfather and himself.

Buddy having to deal with the ignorant ramblings of Bill’s father, slowly realizing just how lucky he is that Bill doesn’t share any of these immensely ignorant and massively classist views. Where as Bill being shocked at how warm and welcoming and understanding Irena is of his struggles with what seem like such basic day to day tasks like laundry or cleaning. (I’ve always imagined that Irena would see Bill like a second son to her after a while, not really caring that he comes from riches or wealth, because he’s still polite and very open minded about how different their cultures and lives are).

Buddy suddenly having more free time on his hands then he knows what to do with, while Bill discovers how little time he has to himself between running errands, helping out around the apartment, not to mention I’d imagine that when the two swap lives temporarily, they also swap jobs. Bill having to find his way around JDS and just getting almost hopelessly lost making deliveries (thankfully Dot would be there to give him a hand if he needed one), and Bud having to take Bill’s place working at Gent, and therefore, having to actually work closer with Mr. Connor, who already probably intimidates him immensely while he’s making deliveries at the studio.

I’d genuinely imagine that both boys learn how hard the other has it, and while they had always kind of known this to begin with, they never realized to what extent it actually was. Buddy suddenly being surrounded by people looking down upon or judging those who aren’t as well off, where as Bill discovering the amount of judgement and prejudice that people like Buddy have to live with on a day to day basis.

I could go on for days about the various elements and differences these two would experience in this AU, I really could, but this post is getting pretty lengthy as it is 😅.

But that being said though, what do you guys think? Would this be an idea you’d want to see explored a bit more somehow? Let me know if possible!]

Note: at the time of writing only two chapters of Deltarune have been released yet, so this AU is based on what we know from those two chapters. If nothing conflicts, then it takes place after all of the events of Deltarune. If anything conflicts, then it's Arle dreaming.

Note 2: none of the Tetris characters (except Ex because he's my favorite he's the Keeper of Dimensions) are in this AU because they're busy doing S.S. Tetra stuff and Satan didn't think it was worth bothering them.

Ok so the plot of the AU is Satan and Ecolo are up to their normal shenanigans and at one point, they decide to send people to the Deltarune universe for funsies. In doing this, Satan is trying to impress Arle as per the usual while Ecolo is going along with it because he's bored. They end up sending a lot of the Puyo cast to Castle Town in the dark world of Deltarune. (Susie, Kris, Noelle, and Berdly are all there too and casually hanging out)

Obviously Ex, Marle and Squares are not happy about this and try to bring the Puyo characters back to the Puyo world, but neither the Puyo cast nor the Deltarune cast feel too urgently about this, so they hang out and stuff.

At one point, Ecolo is playing Puyo with Arle and he gets a huge chain, but instead of teleporting people, it gives some of the Puyo characters new appearences based off of the Deltarune cast. They can be reversed by combining Ralsei's magic with Puyo popping.

Eventually all of the Puyo characters have to go home, and once they come back everyone has their usual outfits. But everyone had fun meeting and interacting with the Deltarune characters, even if their meeting was brief.

Oh look! Another AU intro post! Just another silly AU with a somewhat coherent plotline, full of self indulgence and angst >:)

Two households, both alike in dignity & power, holding grudges for reasons only the dead know. To the east, a house of regality and blood. Fueled by money and manpower but a tight knit family of misfits bonded by suffering and togetherness rarely found in the world today. To the west, a band of ruthless revolutionaries. Similarly bonded by a togetherness only they understand, but hellbent on overthrowing the monarchy. From both sides come ill favored acts and a longstanding feud which only increases the tension in the city in which they both reside, though neither dare to cross into each other's territories. Petty fights they can handle, but they will not suffer an all out war. Until a very fateful night when a woman and a man hailing from either side cross paths not by accident. What starts as a mission of secrecy descends into abandoning all reason for a forbidden romance. A very dangerous thing that puts loyalty and love on a very fine line edged with betrayal on the horizon no matter which path is taken. A kingdom may burn, or a mountain may fall. It all depends on what risks people are willing to take.

DISCLAIMER: The wrestlers involved with this AU are on a strictly kayfabe basis, and 99% of them go by their ring names. This is a work of fiction and not to be taken seriously, everyone is written from a fictitious point of view. The only ones I claim are my OCs.
