This piece was created in celebration of the infamous bike ride Albert Hoffman embarked on as he deliberately ingested LSD for the first time. He paved the way for entheogenic pioneers around the world, influencing everything from science to music and art. I will be forever grateful for his contribution to society and the influence it’s had on my life and artistic journey.
💙🚲 Happy Bicycle Day Australia! 🚲💙

#2059 - Pleurotus australis - Southern Oyster Mushroom
The spotty upper surface is not the natural state - it's severely moulded. The underside was even worse.
In fact, most of the mushrooms we saw on the island over the weekend were hopelessly infected. The heavy rain really wasn't helpful.
A large and handsome gilled mushroom, often found growing from the trunks of trees in Australia and New Zealand where it feeds on the dead or dying heartwood.
Often infested with the larvae of sunflies (Tapeigaster sp.) whose adult males will have punch-ups over prime fungal real estate.

Shoutout to the Great Barred Frog for being rotund and sweet, please keep in mind they exist as an aussie because they sit upright like canetoads on the roadside at night quq
Edit* call out to me for not noticing my flash was on when I took a picture quq

#2057 - Mycena sp.
Not as slimy as they appear here - it was raining heavily.
A large genus, so ubiquitous that 'Mycena' comes froms directly from the Greek for mushroom. Most species are small or tiny saprophytes found growing on dead wood, twigs, and leaves, but more recent discoveries include mycorrhizal species, and one growing on a living frog. Many species smell of chlorine or radish, and at least 58 are bioluminescent.
