Will never understand how people obsess over Shen Jiu himself and go through hoops to try positing he would change as well if he "just knew the truth" from Yue Qingyuan when Yue Qingyuan had nothing to do with his complete jealousy and torment towards Luo Binghe.

Edit: And to add: this somehow being able to shift his entire foundations of beliefs when this still also doesn't address what he did to Luo Binghe as wrong because he suddenly "reconciled" with Yue Qingyuan, something that Yue Qingyuan does not owe to him to explain as it's inferred that Shen Jiu would only despise him more out of perceived weakness despite whatever Shen Jiu's minutiae hopes of someone else maybe saving him as a child were.

We've been interviewing for another person doing work similar to mine but for our client. One person that I wasn't sure about a higher up was impressed by.

My notes were that I had more questions about the resume and screening questions because things didn't make sense. I couldn't get a clear sense of what the person's current job role was. There were buzz words / phrases that didn't fit. If it was just me and my boss, I wouldn't have picked this candidate.

I work with this higher up, too. She is savvy about her subject area but maybe hasn't read a lot of resumes. While my boss knows I used to be in staffing/recruiting before my career switch, this person doesn't.

When the candidate interviewed, my reservations became clear. They were not as experienced as the resume tried to show. We all agreed that they weren't a fit.

They mentioned having a friend who works here in both their interview and HR screen. I'm guessing they were an employee referral.

That employee IMed the week after the interview. I gave a neutral answer of 'thanks for reaching out' and let my boss and the other interviewer know. We all had a similar "ugh" reaction.

I rarely get IMed at this place (a blessing). I was working with the higher up on a thing yesterday and thought this IM I just got was her. Nope. It's the employee.

I'm waiting for Teams to email me about the unread message to see what it is. Whatever it is, it's pushy. They're smart enough to not have messaged my boss or the other interviewer last week when I let them know. They aren't smart enough to realize I'm letting them know anyway.

This multi cat feeder is SO HELPFUL! We adopted a kitten with gastrointestinal issues who required a special food, but our greedy older cat wouldn't stop eating it. Everyone knows kitten food is more calorie dense, so I was getting worried about our kitten starving because our older cat is eating her food, and then worried about our older cat getting ginormous. seeing people talk about Jonah magnus as like. well of course that’s how he reacted to understanding there are cruel and unusual forces in this world that don’t care about him and the only way to avoid being hurt is to hurt others it’s only human. girl NO that’s how an 18th century rich white man specifically would react to that knowledge!!!! like the way that he specifically is trying to use this inherently harmful system to get on top, to assuage his own fears of death and irrelevance at the cost of others, is an extension of the way that he always has and always will move through society. this is not to say that the avatar system is an allegory for social privilege or whatever so much as to say that his interaction with it is shaped by the social systems he grew up with and more than likely bought into.

Au where Shen Yuan transmigrates/is reborn (or not haha. Undead joke. Sorry.) as a Jiangshi or some other kind of undead and is aware enough of his feelings [OOC Warning!] (But just hear me out) to feel jealous of Binghe's wives and kind of compare himself to them to which his equivalent of the crow family (undead family? Fellow cemetery residents?? Or whatever the Chinese equivalent of a cemetery is.) comforts him.

Aka I was thinking about Crowyuan and the crow family as Tears To Shed from The Corpse Bride but it didn't fit and I've also had the idea of Shen Yuan as a Jiangshi (Jiangshen?) in my mind for a bit so I combined them and made this ask.

Welbecome to the inbox, for one, there's a lot goin' on in there right now hehehe ANYWAY, this is such a fun idea. I'm going to be so real with you, I never really liked the Corpse Bride. *immediately gets shot* - but seriously. It was always just so creepy to me, and I know that was the point, but I feel like that about most of Tim Burton's films. For this, though, I will throw all of that aside because 'Tears to Shed' is SUCH a good song, and I adore the idea of Shen Yuan as a Jiangshi. I imagine him waking up for the first time in a fucking COFFIN and being like "dude. What the fuck." The system is just like "[First Mission: Get Out Of The Coffin ヾ(≧▽≦*)o]" so Shen Yuan is trying to get out of this thing, so focused on it that he doesn't even realise that he's not breathing and his heart isn't beating until he finally breaks out and expects to be gasping for air but NO. He's just CHILLING. Of course, he blows up at the system and basically scares it off (until it comes back telling him that he needs to eat n shit), before wandering around to get to know his new body and ends up 'adopted' into this whole group that are so pleased with the rather pretty corpse (shut UP he can be pretty if I want him to be (/silly)) that is in severe need of a family. Something something, they start hearing rumours of a demon lord from late night travellers (who probably end up eaten or something) and Shen Yuan's like "my BINGHE NOOOO" and everyone (basically correctly) assumes that this is like a crush/husband from when Shen Yuan was ALIVE.

Picture this: I am in bed. Dave is curled next to me. We are listening to welcome to night vale. It is dark. I am almost asleep. All is peaceful.

Something screams bloody murder outside my window, Dave uses my stomach as a springboard to launch himself at the trespasser to fight to the death. He misjudges his jump in the dark, hits the window with a bad amount of force, and screams so loud I’m convinced he must have broken his nose or something.

Dave’s fine (but growling and very obviously stressed) and I don’t think I’m going to sleep any time soon. Ugh. I wish they’d at least keep their cat inside at night, during the day it doesn’t bother us half as much. I don’t know who owns it though so :/

uh yay like 99% chance i just lost gpa to keep parents off my back over a test and i didn’t pull grade up as much as i needed to uh. my parents really do not like this teacher so they said it was fine this time but also do not believe that in the slightest they have changed their minds about it before so we shall see. if i lose access to the outside world privileges for a little while at least i have new books to read?? i really like a lot of the banter in veilguard, it's one of the few times the companions can actually exchange some verbal jabs especially at the start of the game. i've said repeatedly that this game is lacking friction and i stand by that ☝️ i think the problem isn't that they all automatically get along, some of them don't at all in the beginning-- Davrin and Lucanis i think are the most obvious, and Taash and Emmrich as well-- but the thing is. Rook just speaks their therapy-speak to them and suddenly it's all fine. we don't see a lot of the friction in cutscenes or significant questlines, only in banter.

again there is Davrin and Lucanis of course who i do think are the most successful and organic relationship in the game. and that's because we actually get to see them go from being hostile to supporting and ultimately liking each other, and it feels born out of mutual respect rather than Rook forcing them to hold hands.

i like a lot of Bellara and Neve's banter as well, and they seem to spend a lot of time together at the start of the game when there's not that many people at the Lighthouse yet, and Neve consistently shows up for Bellara during her story. i also like Neve and Lucanis together, they're very cute. there are definitely friendly relationships that feel natural, but then there are moments like where Taash bulldozes over Bellara when discussing Mythal's and Solas's relationship, and Bellara isn't allowed to snap back at Taash for being disrespectful. she (+ elven Rook) are also never allowed to call out Harding for her racism, we either have to agree or just not acknowledge it and always be really really nice to Harding specifically.... and i think little moments of friction within actual main plot beats and significant cutscenes (like is done with Davrin and Lucanis) would have made a lot of the dynamics more interesting rather than just dancing around it and relegating it to banter or limited interactions you could ultimately miss if you don't have them constantly in your party/aren't constantly checking in at the Lighthouse. also companion approval should actually matter and they should be allowed to vocally disapprove of Rook's choices.

Literally infuriates me whenever someone assumes Hanako is the MC of tbhk just because his name is in the title. I understand if it’s someone who hasn’t read or watched the series but how can you be a tbhk fan and not know Nene is the protagonist??? She calls herself the heroine like a million times, both in the manga and the anime. A titular character is not the same as a main character, Hanako may be the male lead but the series still revolves around Nene. If he were our main character we would follow him on his own adventures and the plot would revolve around his death rather than Nene’s lifespan. Guys. Reading comprehension.
