Did anyone else read Avalon web of magic growing up? Anyone? I feel like nobody ever knows about it

Avalon Web of Magic was my second favorite book series as a teen and I wanted to draw something for it for the first time in like, 10 years lmao. This is my interpretation of Adriane and Stormbringer!

I wanted to be Adriane SO BAD back then, and I had a Webkinz husky named after Storm! Lmk if any of y’all read this series too, I haven’t met many people who did

I have shown the bracelet I HAVE made inspired by Adriane’s bracelet in Avalon web of magic

My current little guy of a bracelet:

That was literally the ONLY time I’ve ever been able to find a satisfactory tiger’s eye paw bead with a horizontal opening. Every other one I encountered is vertical. I have looked thoroughly.

Before I found that one though I found THIS HEFTY BOY

I am currently realizing one toe is crooked :/ anyway, this is not a bead. It is simply a carved chunk of tiger’s eye. I have no idea how or if I’ll be able to make it into something, but even though her bracelet was described one way in the book, canon depictions in art have varied, giving me wiggle room. I think I might re-blog this and add some of the canon art, but anyway!

Something in between the two would probably be most accurate to canon, but I think it would be kinda funny to just make a huge bracelet too. After all, one of the manga covers has her wearing this

You know, even all these years later, my dream comic project would be to turn Avalon: Web of Magic into a graphic novel series.

People talk about the series they fell in love with as kids and I need you to understand how much Avalon Web of Magic rewired my brain as a little girl. I loved the stories, I loved the animals, I loved the ART, I wanted to be a magical girl Just Like Them. I own all of the editions I grew up with now and I have zero regrets about it

in hindsight the avalon books are so dark considering they’re technically supposed to be for kids? like rereading cry of the wolf rn and there’s just. mass death and destruction in the shadowlands and a 12 (13?) year old adriane just walks through it and then gets attacked by murderous imps and almost dies like. several times. and then zach’s familiar actually does die. and the books just get DARKER from here?? lowkey can’t believe i was reading these in the second grade and all i took away from them at the time was “magical girls cool”

saying something for an audience of me here: the TTS trio fits the magical paradigm set by Rachel Roberts' fantasy book series, running from 2001-2006 and then again under a different publisher from 2007-2010 and allegedly intended as a modern reboot of the animated fantasy series Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders (1995 - 1996), Avalon: Web of Magic,

that paradigm being. a "healer," a "warrior," and a "blazing star," the latter being a magical role invented by the series that is essentially defined by being a magical powerup for the other two. that one is eugene, obviously.

Just now realizing how jealous I am of people who obsessed over Kara’s necklace as a kid. Even Emily’s bracelet was easier to find stuff for than the tigers eye paw stone that has haunted me for years

Anyway, the bracelet taking off made me curious about looking for stuff for the other mage’s gems and while I am not planning on making or buying theirs, I have found some stuff on Etsy (both a necklace that made me think of Kara’s and a bunch of gem options for Emily’s. There is no actual rainbow aventurine though (to my knowledge) so most of what I’m looking at is glass)
