Autistic People Need to Know:
• you are worth more than your ability to make money
• no neurotype is better than another
• there's no shame in needing support
• you are valid as you are
• it's not your fault things are hard
• neurodiversity is natural and necessary
• one day the world will catch up
• you are valuable
• all life journeys are valid; there's no need to compare yourself to allistic people
• your experiences are valid
• it's OK to unmask
• you are skilled
• you are not a burden

So. John Robison participated in an experimental treatment for autism and experienced an "emotional awakening," but he also stepped down from Autism Speaks. Do you think he still shouldn't really be seen as an autism advocate?
Mmm, maybe in the past, he was a very good advocate. However, over time, he and his son began associating with white supremacists and autistics who participate in the "Dark Autistic Web" - something I stay far away from because it promotes internalized ableism, misogyny, and the beliefs that autistic men are superior to, well, everyone. John has been picking fights with a lot of my friends on forums like Facebook and basically supporting eugenics in ways that are scary for someone who advocated so strongly for neurodivergent people. Now, there are probably counter arguments that will deny everything I'm saying, but I don't like lying about advocacy and people do get caught up, so I'm just sticking with what I know. I can't trust John. Same with Jim Sinclair in recent years. Hell, Steve Silverman has been a jerk as of late and he's the allistic who wrote "NeuroTribes" which is what I would still recommend.
I'll admit that my mentors, who include Neurodivergent K and Sensei Nick Walker, have been very intense in their activism. K is known for coming from severe abuse from family, Autism Speaks, ABA, and over two decades of paaarents yelling at her for standing up for autistics. So keep in mind that my autistic advocacy has been steeped in a powerful history of "we are not taking any shit from ableists including our own".

The date was Friday, December 15, 2017, at 7:30 AM, EST
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hadn't even been out for 24 hours. Already, every nerd blog I followed on Facebook had spoiled every major thread and plot point, and shared everything for the world to see.
I jumped over to Tumblr. Already, fan art. Big character arc theories. Discourses. Ship confirmations. Ship deconfirmations. What worked, what sucked, what they should have changed to fit within the fanfic they had worked on since The Force Awakens came out. Who was gay enough, who was not gay enough, who exhibted these specific traits of this specific illness or neurodivergent characteristic. Who should be redeemed, villified. How it wasn't similar enough to The Empire Strikes back.
It hadn't even been 12 hours since most theaters had released the film at midnight. At that point, I had yet to watch it. And it's as if I've already experienced it all.
Here I am, a day and a half later, not even wanting to see The Last Jedi. It's already all been spoiled for me, what's the point?
All I'm asking is for 3 days, y'all. 3 days, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, before you Gremlins start posting every damn discourse, dissection, theory, speculation, and spoiler filled review across the internet.
Please? It's just 3 days. Just hold on til then, and then go ham, y'all.
