High Castle Teleorkestra - The Egg That Never Opened - probably the prog rock tour de force of the year
Art As Catharsis is proud to announce the release of High Castle Teleorkestra’s debut record, The Egg That Never Opened – a mind-melting record fusing everything from Eastern European folk, swing jazz, technical metal and much more. Assembled remotely by a roster of acclaimed international musicians, High Castle Teleorkestra (HCT) compensates for unlikely touring chances by turning out enigmatic, immaculately produced recordings. Comprised of members from ground-breaking acts including Estradasphere, Mr. Bungle, Farmers Market, Umlaut and more, HCT’s prodigious musical talent is matched only by their compositional finesse. On The Egg That Never Opened, listeners will be treated to densely layered orchestrations, starkly unrelated genre superimposition, tasteful and energetic virtuosity, a narrative based on the book Radio Free Albemuth by Philip K. Dick, Eastern European folk music set to polyrhythmic death metal, innovative use of odd meters, 50's-style surf guitar ballads, the unmistakable nod to the Beach Boys Smile-era, stunning string sections, a kooky and morphing assortment of oddball synths & lo-fi keyboards from asynchronous eras, final mixes mastered from ¼ inch tape, other-worldly productions of astounding density and intrigue a variety of composition and arrangement styles, and so much more. High Castle Teleorkestra takes the listener on a blustering ride across the universe atop the pink beam of an ancient satellite. High Castle Teleorkestra’s premier single and video, Mutual Hazard is an intense fusion of Romanian folk, polyrhythmic metal, and an other-worldly string arrangement. “This tune is in the 7/8 time signature, not uncommon in progressive and certain folk musics, but played at a blazing 300 BPM, making it very difficult to count and feel,” adds chief producer and bassist Tim Smolens. “Timba Harris (Estradasphere, Probosci) put together a very unique, multi-timbral string section for this tune that adds an almost sci-fi element, something clearly not found in traditional Romanian Folk music! Drummer Dave Murray played a pivotal role in the arrangement and added interesting polyrhythmic metal concepts that make the timing even harder to count. All of this is played atop a more traditional foundation of warp speed accordion, ornamented solo violin, galloping cimbalom, and slapped upright bass. Although Estradasphere has explored a similar amalgamation of styles, there is something magical and new about the way it has come together in this particular rendition.” Gently playful in certain places, exhilarating in others, and even teetering on the brink of cacophony at times, High Castle Teleorkestra’s The Egg That Never Opened is truly a dynamic and engaging listening experience for lovers of avant-garde, experimental and progressive music of all shapes and sizes. Witness and listen as dignified chaos is unleashed upon the world in the Mutual Hazard single and video.  Chris Bogen - guitars, keyboards, lap steel (1,4,7,9), melodica (2), noise collages (1, 5, 8, 9) Stian Carstensen - accordion, pedal steel (1,2,4,9), vocals (1), rhythm guitar (10) Timba Harris - violin, viola Bär McKinnon - tenor sax, flute, clarinet, vocals (3,4), keyboards Dave Murray - drums (1, 2, 3, 5, 10) Tim Smolens - standup bass, electric basses, cello, vocals (1, 4, 7), grand piano, keyboards Guests: Sai Boag - Synth (3) Danny Heifetz - drums, vibraphone (4) Pieta Hextall - bassoon (4) Luke Kirley - trombone (1), tuba (1, 2) Giani Lincan - cimbalom (10) Monica Ludekens - french horn (4) Vinnie “Saturn” Metts - drums (9), vibraphone (8) Caitlin O’Connor - vocals (1, 3, 5, 6, 7) George “GoPo” Phillips - noise collage: alligator people (8) Rory Reagan - drums (2, 6, 7, 8) Federico Randazzo - tenor saxophone, flute, clarinet (1, 7) Adam Stacey - accordion (7) Jason Usry - noise collage: weirdy phaser (8) Jarle Vespestad - extra drums and percussion (10) Antonie Veskovski - vibraphone (8) John Whooley - tenor and alto saxophones (10) Georgi Yanev - lead violin (10) David Dines - Illustrations and Layout Casey Brinegar, Kevin J. Mr. bungle en vivo en Buenos Aires - 15 de Diciembre 2022 - Teatro Flores Mr. Bungle es un grupo de música experimental estadounidense.
Mr. Bungle was an American experimental rock band from Eureka, California. The band was formed in 1984 while the members were still in high school, and was named after a 1950s children’s educational film regarding bad habits which was later featured in a 1981 Pee-wee Herman HBO special. Mr. Bungle released four demo tapes in the mid to late 1980s before being signed to Warner Bros. Records and releasing three full-length studio albums between 1991 and 1999. The band toured in 1999 and 2000 to support their last album before going on hiatus; ultimately revealing that they had dissolved in 2004. Although Mr. Bungle went through several line-up changes early in their career, the longest-serving members were vocalist Mike Patton, guitarist Trey Spruance, bassist Trevor Dunn, saxophonists Clinton “Bär” McKinnon and Theo Lengyel, and drummer Danny Heifetz. Members were based in San Francisco during the band’s tenure with Warner Bros.
Mr. Bungle was known for its highly eclectic style, often cycling through several musical genres within the course of a single song. Many of its songs had an unconventional structure and utilized a wide array of instruments and samples. Live shows often featured members dressing up (usually in masks earlier in the band’s career) and an array of cover songs.

MR. BUNGLE'S BÄR MCKINNON on missing Mr. Bungle and Secret Chiefs both musically and friendship wise, and if he sees himself ever playing with those guys again Source
