I feel bad for JJ Yeonjun when people say his love for is not clear or not certain. He does so much for her! He has been so understanding and supportive in so many ways. He went out of his way to show her around and open doors for her. And he is quite affectionate as well. All that look like very healthy displays of love and affection. I would much rather get that, instead of the unstable emotional codependency that comes with the type of attachment Oc and Gyu have. I guess I have way too much experience with toxic man and translates in my interpretations, but what Gyu does reads more as weaponzing her insecurities and love bombing her every once in a while to keep her around to fulfill his own emotional needs or simply to not feel so lonely. I don't think he does it on purpose. Maybe he just got used to having her around, and with time kept taking slightly bigger pieces of her until he was everything to her. Maybe he does love her, in a romantic sense. Maybe he is as insecure as she is, or even more, and uses her affection as the single pillar of support to any semblance of a ego he has, regardless of how it may affect her.

My bias is beomgyu and I almost always side with him in fics, even when i shouldn't. But this time I am with Jun.

Jun obviously likes her but I think what gyu supporters think he's lacking is being in love with her or having or him acting like she's THE one for him. He is very affectionate but also very casual. He is not making any grand claims of love. He's just a guy dating and girl and seeing where that will go which in a fanfic setting isn't as engaging or exciting. Obviously he would be a fantastic boyfriend irl but us fanfic readers are greedy and want an intense love story.

I don't think gyu is weaponizing her insecurties or lovebombing her though I definitely see why you would think so. He's probably just reacting to the new circumstances around him, albeit badly. He keeps trying to be supportive and a friend but then something new happens that throws him off again. Now none of that is to say that the way he's handling it isn't bad, but for once I didn't write him as a toxic character, just a flawed one.
