Know the details of Thunderbird backup email here
In order to keep oneâs data safe and updated it is vital that one carries Thunderbird backup email on a regular basis. The process however can be complicated and even induce data safety concerns. With the availability of several third-party software, people have given over the idea of manual backup and archiving. However, even with the availability of such software, it is important that one checks them for their reliability and compatibility with data. The first thing you can do in that direction is to educate yourself about Thunderbird, check here- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Thunderbird.
Thunderbird email backup service in alignment with your requirements

You can backup mail Thunderbird with Mail Backup X and carry a lot of associated tasks with it at no extra cost. It is priced quite reasonably considering how wide-ranging the facilities it provides are. It is also quite safe for all types of data, is compatible with all sorts of mail file formats to. To ensure that the user feels safe using this Thunderbird email backup tool it has been designed to work in the offline mode.
How to restore Thunderbird mail backup without moving your fingers
One does not have to be adept at the task of Thunderbird email backup in order to carry it regularly. Using this software on a regular basis will provide the desired results. Also important is the capacity of this software to backup and archive data not only from Thunderbird but from Gmail, Hotmail, apple mail, yahoo mail, outlook, and postbox.
Closely associated with the ability of this software to backup and archive data from various sources is the integrated mail viewer. In order to work with data from several sources one would not have to skip continuously from one platform to another, the mail viewer makes sure of that. It works by bringing data from various sources at one place.
Convert mail file formats and use ftp client for additional safety
As this software supports several mail file formats it is also capable of providing the facility of changing mail file formats. It can be used to change the format of the data files to and from .olm, .eml, .pst, .mbox, and .rge.
The ftp client on the other hand makes sure that one can carry backup of data on a regular basis without themselves intervening. The ftp client continuously backs up data and provides the facilities of primary backup and mirror backup as well.
Faster search results and more storage space
With this software you will have the freedom to backup as many files as you want since it meanwhile also saves storage space. It manages to do that by compressing the files methodically.
One does not have to waste time looking for even a bit of data. The ultra-fast data search module can find out any variety of data within nanoseconds.
You can try these features out immediately by purchasing the software. A free demo version of it is also available www.mailbackupx.com/thunderbird-backup-email/.

Water ran down the glass windows.
The thing was that it wasnât raining, it was just all condensation caused by horribly hot weather and their sudden lack of air conditioning.
âI donât know if I can take this anymore.â Alan flopped dramatically on the lounge.
Gordon rolled his eyes. âYou could go down to the hangars. Itâs much cooler down there.â
âNo way. Virgil and Brains would snag me to help them and I barely have enough energy to breeeeathe.â
âA bit dramatic there, little bro. Go for a swim. We have an entire pool and Pacific Ocean.â
âPoolâs in the sun and the ocean is full of things that want to eat me. Youâve proven that multiple times.â
Gordon groaned. âFine. Sit your lazy ass there. Iâm going to go find Virgil to see if he needs any help.â
âHeâs cool. Got Brains and Scott as his slaves.â A pause. âMaybe Iâll go keep John company.â
Gordon dismissed him with a hand as he strode from the room.
The villa was not itself today. The entire air conditioning network had burnt out, plunging the house into relying on the weather. Which was failing them miserably. Due to the effects of climate change sometimes the tropics werenât as fun as they could be and today was one of those. Gordonâs shirt was soaked with sweat.
He knew where he would find Virgil and his work crew. When they had initially split up - Gordon to take Grandma down to Aotearoa and Virgil to tackle the issue at its root â his brother had already been grumbling.
The profanity from the control room was not a good sign.
They had a massive network of temperature control mechanisms on the Island. If one thing was an identifier of a civilisation, it was its ability to manipulate temperature. Tracy Island needed all the controls. Habitability was only a small part of the equation. Heat controls for launching Thunderbirds was a major thing, airflow to the hangars and more hidden areas of the complex was another. And somehow all of them were down for the count.
The hangars were definitely warmer than usual - more to do with residual heat from machinery and humidity than the sunny 38C day outside.
He ran into Scott in the main doorway. His expression wasnât a good one, but it lit up at the sight of Gordon.
âGrandma, okay?â
âSet her up in the house. Sheâs stress baking.â
âOh.â There was so much to be said after that statement. âI can see why you didnât stay.â
Gordon shrugged and grinned. âWhat can I say? Iâm a survivor.â He peered into the room. âHowâs Virg?â
Scott sighed. âNot happy. Still hasnât found the source of the problem. Not even backups are behaving. Has to be systemic. But first step is to get minimal service running so we can launch. Brains is working on it.â
Gordon stared at his brother. Launching One or Three without heat dissipation was very much not a good idea. Two, they could get away with. There was a reason she didnât launch inside the facility like the rest of them. She was the safety factor.
But without One and Three their ability to respond to a situation was not great.
But a sudden crash and yelp inside the room had both brothers moving, all other thought discarded.
They entered to chaos. Virgil was huddled on the other side of the room, a bright and raw arc of electricity bouncing from point to point in front of him. The lights had blown and the only illumination was the eerie blue white lightning.
âVirgil!â
Electricity danced around the room.
Scottâs arm held Gordon back.
âThunderbird Five, kill all the power on the Island!â
John didnât say a word, the command in Scottâs voice requiring immediate action.
Everything fell into darkness.
Johnâs voice was eerily calm in the sudden silence. âAll switches thrown. All generators disconnected from the grid and winding down.â
Smoke and ozone tangled in Gordonâs nostrils. âVirgil?â Down here it really was pitch black when the lighting was out.
Beside him Scott was scrambling around in the darkness, likely looking for the emergency kit in this room. That covered, Gordon was going for Virgil. âVirgil? Answer me.â
The groan that answered him was wonderful.
The room was suddenly flooded with light and Gordon jumped, for a split second fearing the lightning had come back. But Scott had found the kit and the torch inside it.
They both beelined for Virgil who was still on the floor.
âVirgil, talk to me.â
Their brother turned his head to look up at them, and Gordon was convinced Scott could make anything happen just by issuing a command.
But Virgil didnât speak. He opened his mouth but then looked back down at his hands.
Gordonâs eyes followed.
Oh, hell.
Scott was already moving, the emergency kit in his hands opening as he dropped down beside their brother. The torch was handed to Gordon and the mediscanner lit up the room.
Moments later, Scott was spraying burn foam all over Virgilâs hands.
Scott caught him as he slid sideways into his arms, his relief a physical thing.
âThank you.â It was rough and more breath than voice. ââxploded in my face. Wasnât supposed to be live.â Virgil groaned and dropped his head against Scottâs shoulder.
A pair of lights bobbed into the room revealing Brains with Alan panting beside him. âWhat happened?â His eyes widened when he saw Virgil.
âBrains, donât touch it. Keep away.â Virgil flopped one injured hand as if to swipe the engineer away from the console, but flinched. Scott caught his wrist and gently brought it back together with the other injured limb. âCâmon, letâs get you up to the infirmary.â
Gordon jumped in to help get his big brother of the floor.
Virgilâs groan hurt.
But they got him up and moving.
Unfortunately, the infirmary was quite a distance without the elevator network.
Behind them he could hear Brains talking with John a mile a minute. No doubt they would work out exactly what happened.
Alan was hovering behind him.
âAllie, go get a hoverchair.â Gordon didnât need to repeat himself. No doubt his little brother was just happy to do something.
Helping Virgil out into the main hangars brought them all into the natural light from the massive skylight high up in the cavern. His brother straightened a little more as if he was a plant or something. âIt wasnât supposed to be live.â
âDonât worry about that now, Virg. Brains will work out what happened.â
âNo, youâre not getting it. My hands were on the console, not inside it.â
Scott stared at Virgil a moment. âNoted. John and Brains have it in hand.â
Virgil shook his head as if in denial, but groaned and closed his eyes.
Gordon gripped him a little tighter, his fingers fisting in flannel as his brother wavered. âTheyâll work it out. You need treatment and rest.â
The swear word Virgil hissed was ever so appropriate.

Do you think you should follow Scott? What if he needs backup?
Yeah, the thought had occurred to him. Scott was self professed to not exactly be a fan of space. But he wasn't entirely alone out there! He had Kayo! And... John should be able to help. Especially with the Gravity off? (If he was able, who knows with the video cut-) (He couldn't think that way. Please.) Alan has to hope his other siblings are going to hold their own. Because...

... It seems he's not going to have time to worry about that! "Star! We've got company!" He shouts to @thunderbird-3-best-bird. (Sorry, @gdf-ridley-obannon - You're getting dragged along what may just be an interesting ride. Unless you're wanting to get involved?)
He's got Maximum MAX - He's not entirely unarmed himself, but he's not too thrilled with the idea of figuring out what those cannons can do to his ship's Cahelium hull. So. The first goal was to try to eliminate the initial threat. "Alright, MAX... Let's make some space." Hah. Space. He extended the arms of Maximum MAX quickly, trying to clear the space immediately around him, before moving further out. He needed to not be a stationary target either.

Wounded in Action
It had been a carefully laid trap, but as an aeons old adage says: âno battle plan survives first contact with the enemyâ.
That said enemy was the Chaos Crew â who were charitably considered to be a âblunt instrumentâ even by the Hoods rapidly dwindling standards â meant that first contact was Fuseâs âBasherâ vehicle bursting through the wall.
Lady Penelope rather grudgingly awarded them points for knowing how to make an entrance â even though said entrance was a ÂŁ700,000 hole in the wall that destroyed two Ming Vases â reproductions, of course, but of an age and quality that meant they were of cultural and monetary value in and of themselves.
From there chaos had spread. Kayo, Lady Penelope and Parker, playing Keep Away with a briefcase that supposedly held a rare and immensely valuable star sapphire â second only to the famous âStar of Indiaâ. Exactly the kind of thing a cash-strapped Hood seemed to be targeting of late.
As the situation continued without either side managing to gain the upper hand, Kayo summoned their backup â Scott, Virgil and Gordon, along with Captain Rigby and his hand-picked team of GDF fighters.
Slowly the defenders made headway against the Chaos Crewâs all out attack. Fusesâ explosive charges were being defused before they could detonate and Virgilâs shoulder-mounted laser had scored a direct hit on Fuseâs power suit, disabling his âPower Punchesâ. While Havocâs decoy hologram emitters were systematically destroyed, and well placed beanbag rounds had put enough of her acrobatic landings off that she was now moving with a distinct limp.
The Chaos Crew had been in retreat towards the Basher for five minutes, when there was suddenly, shockingly, a canine scream of pain.
Everyone froze in place, and all eyes swung to where Fuse stood, balanced awkwardly on one foot, his face stricken as Sherbet cowered at his feet, his left front leg pulled up against his body, whimpering pitifully.
âBertie!â Penelope rushed forward to rescue the dog, hugging him to her breast and retreating to where Virgil was already pulling out a medi-scanner.
Gordon and Parker advanced on Fuse, their body language and expressions telegraphing violent intent.
Fuse backed away. âI didnâ mean taâŚâ he protested, his eyes wide, his lower lip wobbling dangerously. âI woulnââŚâ
Rigby and the closest of the GDF fighters joined in the advance as Fuse backed towards the Basher. He jumped as he bumped it to it, and scurried inside, looking back out as Havoc jumped up onto its roof.
âIâm sorry.â It was almost a whimper, and Penelope went to respond but Havoc chose that instant to strike, one of her reinforced lines flashed out, and snagged the briefcase, tugging it out of Scottâs unresisting grip, and whipping it into Havocâs hands.
Scott gave a wordless yell of shock, as Havoc saluted sardonically and jumped onto the running board before launching herself into the vehicle yelling, âGet moving!â at Fuse.
A momentâs hesitation and the engine of the Basher revved violently, before careening back towards its entrance hole, sending several people jumping for their lives before it.
Kayo and Rigby didnât hesitate, running at full tilt after the departing vehicle; Kayo already summoning Thunderbird Shadow via her wrist controller, and Rigby barking rapidfire orders for GDF flyers and road blocks stationed discreetly around the area.
It was later that day when Colonel Casey, with Captain Rigby â newly showered and in a fresh uniform â in tow, paid a visit to Creighton-Ward Manor.
âEyes front, Captain,â she ordered, trying to keep hide her amusement at her subordinateâs open mouthed gawking at the combination of ultra-chic and traditional furnishings. âYou wouldnât want to be mistaken as casing this house, believe me.â
Rigby flushed, embarrassed, as Parker snorted his disdain, and didnât quite keep his muttered âHIâd like ta see âim try pull hoff a caper,â from being heard.
âColonel Casey, hâand Captain Rigby, MâLady,â Parker announced at the door to the sitting room, before hurrying off to the kitchen for a fresh pot of tea, newly brewed coffee and appropriate cake and biscuits for the visitors. It was all well and good for some to sit around all day, he reflected, but a good butler was never idle when there were guests in the house!
Lady Penelope was much calmer than when Rigby had seen her at the ersatz auction-house. She sat in the centre of the main sofa, Gordon Tracy sitting as close as he dared to her on the left, and Sherbert, his left forepaw so solidly wrapped it looked like he was wearing a boxing glove lay on a large squashy velvet cushion to her right, submitting to Virgil Tracyâs petting from where he stood reaching over from behind the lounge. Occasionally, as Virgilâs hand paused, Sherbert whimpered pathetically, prompting the pilot to keep moving.
Scott was standing by the large picture window, half-watching the scene outside as he nodded his acknowledgement of the newcomers.
âColonel, Captain, please do come in. Weâre expecting Kayo shortly.â
Colonel Casey nodded regally and took a seat on the low backed sofa opposite Lady Penelope, as Rigby continued to stand awkwardly at the side.
âDo sit down, Captain,â Penelopeâs voice was amused. Rigby flushed again, and perched awkwardly on the far edge of the sofa.
âKayoâs here.â Scottâs voice came a heartbeat before the distinctive whining roar of Thunderbird Shadowâs engines passed over head.
It was only a couple of minutes more before Kayo strode into the room, unaccompanied. âParkerâs just on the way,â she reported, taking a seat on the small upholstered ottoman close to the door. Penelope nodded, as Scott, apparently having been waiting for Kayo to arrive, moved into the room from the picture window. He sat down in time to gingerly accept a delicate-looking cup with steaming coffee from Parker.
Once everyone was suitably fed and watered, and with Parker standing âguardâ at the door, Penelope spoke. âColonel Casey, was our little trap successful?â
âSigns are positive, Lady Penelope,â Casey replied. âIt was disappointing that The Hood didnât show up himself, but we were prepared for that possibility. Thanks to the tracker in the briefcase, we were able to follow the Chaos Crew to what appears to be one of the Hoodâs centres of operation. Maybe even his main one for the London area. The Hood didnât appear to be âin residenceâ, as it were; but every resource we deny him is another brick removed from the wall of secrecy he has erected around himself.â
Penelope nodded as Scott moved in. âAnd the Chaos Crew?â
âLikewise evaded capture, Iâm afraid. But Fuseâs suit appears to be damaged, and Havoc injured, so that will, thankfully, slow down their rate of operation, maybe even stop them for a time.â
Kayo frowned. âThat just means that theyâll have time to better plan their next attack,â she cautioned.
Casey nodded. âWe are hoping weâll have leads on what theyâre planning on doing next,â she responded. âThere was a computer system in place in the Hoodâs hideout, Iâve got techs going over it now. Hopefully weâll be able to tap into his files, see what he has planned in the future. Maybe even work out how to tap into his communications so we can monitor him remotely.â
Penelope nodded. âSo all in all a successful operation,â she mused.
âI wouldnât say an unqualified success,â the Colonel frowned. âI donât like casualties during my operations. How is Sherbet, Lady Penelope?â
Penelope reached out to stroke the pug. âThere are a couple of bones broken in his foot, but the vet is confident they will heal properly provided he leaves his bandages intact,â she said softly. âHeâll have to rest, of course. No public appearances for the forseeable future, which is a great pity. Wimbledon is on soon, and Bertie does so enjoy it.â
âRuns hâoff every year hâand chases the balls, yâmean.â Rigby was starting to think Parker actually intended everyone to hear his muttered commentary.
Penelope shot him a look that from anyone else would be called âdirtyâ. âHe is, of course, an honorary ballboy. But Iâm afraid this year they will have to do without his services.â
âOf course,â Colonel Casey said gravely. âI know our original plan called for someone to feign injury if the Chaos Crew couldnât manage to get the briefcase away, but I am most upset that an actual injury was sustained.â
Her demeanour hadnât changed in the slightest, and Rigby couldnât help but agree with Parkerâs, âWhouldnât âurt you ta hâact like hit, hâeven hif it is for thâ mutt.â
The Colonel continued as if she hadnât heard. âUnfortunately, there is no avenue for me to recommend Sherbet for recognition of his injury in the line of duty. Please accept this as a substitute. Captain?â
Rigby stood and presented Lady Penelope with the large gaudily wrapped basket he had been holding awkwardly.
âThank you, Captain, Colonel. It is very kind of you.â She set the package down on the coffee table and began to unwrap it, pulling out each item and offering them to Sherbet for his inspection.
Rigby wasnât much fussed on dogs, to be honest, but he knew Lady Penelope loved hers, and that Penelope was a good friend of Kayos, one whose opinion Kayo valued. He had hoped to win points with Kayo by offering a gift to the âsickâ dog. Heâd been quickly trying to shop online while waiting for Colonel Casey to take his report, when she had appeared at his elbow, demanded an explanation for what he was doing, and nodded at her explanation before disappearing into her office.
A moment later his email pinged, and he found a list of recommended products, along with authorisation to charge expenses to the mission. As Rigby deleted his hastily cobbled together cart, and went of in search of the recommended products, he was soon grateful for the authorisation. In the end, the âgift boxâ for Sherbet was almost two months of his wages. And all for a dog!
Once all the items had been removed from the box, and thoroughly sniffed by the pug, her Ladyship lifted the dog off itâs cushion. âAnd what do we say to Colonel Casey and Captain Rigby, Sherbet?â
The animal wiggled impatiently in her arms, and she set him down on the ground to trot limping over to the Colonel, he put his front paws up on her knees, and barked once, tail wagging madly. The Colonel lifted him up to her lap, Sherbet once again stood on his hind legs and the Colonel only just managed to turn her head in time to avoid a doggy âkissâ direct on her lips. Sherbet barked again, and leapt off her lap, to trot across the sofa to Rigby. He received the same treatment, but wasnât quick enough to avoid a âkissâ on the lips.
To Rigbyâs surprise, instead of opting to return to his cushion, Sherbet lay down on his lap, and nudged at his hand until he started stroking the animal down the back. Rigby looked up at Lady Penelope when the little animal promptly began to snore.
âWell, Captain, I can see Sherbet has correctly deduced who was truly responsible for his present,â Penelope said. âAlthough I am not quite certain of the paygrade for a captain of the GDF, I trust Sherbetâs favourite treats were not too much of a financial burden?â
Rigby flushed again. âAs the Colonel said, Maâam, it was a gift from the GDF. I can, uh, assure you I endured no financial burden.â
Penelope smiled benignly. âThen I am touched by the GDFâs consideration.â
Kayo spoke up, âAnd, of course, by yours. Donât think we didnât notice you didnât deny that you were responsible for coming up with the idea.â
That prompted a general chorus of agreement from the room, and Rigby flushed again, both in embarrassment and pleasure. He was embarrassed now to remember how he had original dismissed International Rescue as a bunch of rich kids playing hero and getting in the way of the ârealâ heroes.
He had been proven comprehensibly wrong and was now proud to work with them.
Even the dog.
Notes:
Well, this went on a winding roadtrip to nowhere. What started out as âFuse steps on Sherbet â whoopsâ, ended up with Rigby being a soppy bugger. Did not see that one coming.
The standard disclaimers, I do not own Thunderbirds, either the Original Series, the Movies (both Supermarionation and Live Action), or the Thunderbirds Are Go Series. (Although I do own copies on DVD.)

The Butterfly Effect
Chapter 20
â ď¸ Trigger Warning: Angst
đđđ§Ąđâ¤ď¸đ
A noise like a tuning fork pierced the air.
Gordon stared, his brain reeling from the blast.
People were reaching for the railings, ready to jump from the ship, to the too-far depths below.
âNO! STOP!â
They didn't listen, but were thankfully pulled from certain death by another member of the crew.
Gordon grabbed the mic.
âRemain calm. The diesel aboard the lifeboats has superheated. That's the explosion you hear. Remain calm!â
The situation was deteriorating. More people were grabbing hold of the railing, ready to jump.
Scott dived for one, just before they could swing their legs off over the rail.
A buzz. Gordonâs wrist was buzzing.
Snapping back, he swiped his device.
John's avatar appeared.
"Gordon. Thunderbird Two is on approach.
I have GDF carriers ten minutes out, awaiting your instruction. EOS has managed to access the ship's tannoy system, and we have radio lines to nearby vessels. I could do with that plan right about now?"
Gordon blinked.
He'd had a plan.
He'd had about ten plans, but the situation was far from static. And as fast as he theorised, complications ignited and turned his solutions to ash.
"International Rescue?"
People were screaming nearby, drowning out thoughts he couldn't quite anchor.
"Sir? Sir?" Terrified crew members beckoned him from all directions.
Think. He needed to think.
Boards in the ship were beginning to rupture; the sound like gunfire.
"Gordon?"
Gordon felt the air leave his lungs.
There were so many eyes on him.
So many expectant ears demanding he solve the unthinkable.
Five. thousand. strangers. had just blindly placed their lives in his hands, and somehow trusted him to conjure their miracle.
But he was so normal.
He was twenty-four.
Gordon rubbed his eyes, which burned from soot and salt. As soon as he reopened them, Scott was there. His voice saying something indistinct and distant, even though he stood but an arm's reach away.
He blinked again. Focused in on the shape of the word as it formed.
"Gor-don?"
"Gordon?" Scott was shouting his name.
It jackknifed him back into the present.
"Shit!" He swiped the seawater from his hair.
"I just...I don't know!"
"I need...I need..."
"What do you need?"
"Fuck!" He threw up his hands. "I need you to take over... I've I- I've not got your experience."
"Bullshit!"
Anger bubbled with fear, until Gordon felt his chest implode.
"I'M NOT YOU!"
Scott's eyes flashed, and something akin to hurt washed over his features.
Gordon visibly deflated.
"I'm not you...or dad."
Scott softened.
And Gordon felt a pang, deep within his chest.
It was weird.
Sometimes; with all the time that had elapsed since he'd last seen their dad, he couldn't quite remember his face. Everytime he tried to picture him, all he saw was Scott, staring back at him, with the same expression of care he wore now.
"You're right Gords, you're not...
...But you're NOT in anyone's shadow. C'mon. Focus. Same old drill, just bigger. We're right there beside you.
Just...breathe."
Gordon exhaled, long and slow. His chest and limbs shook, but his heart rate eased enough for him to regain composure.
Scott gestured for him to breathe in.
Blocking out the chaos around him, Gordon did just that.
"Okay." Scott assessed with caring eyes. "Whatever you need, we are here. We will listen - I will listen. If you need to tap out, if you need us to take over, there's no shame. But I absolutely know you can do this."
"It's alright."
"You good?"
Gordon exhaled, then barked a somewhat-hysterical laugh.
"Yeah, I'm good."
Scott squeezed his shoulder. "Good man!"
With a swipe at his wrist, Gordon opened a Comms line to Tracy Island.
"Brains, I'm gonna need some numbers."
Two and Four were soon on scene.
Backup had arrived.
âScott. I need you to jetpack to Four. I've ten packs of life-suits Brains designed. That should be enough for one hundred people.â
âFAB.â
Scott's jetpack fired, and he was gone.
âLuana. Gather a group from starboard, and head for the M.E.S rafts. International Rescue will evac the rest.â He handed the dancer back the mic, before swiping open a new line.
âAlan. Four has a number of inflatable life rafts in the canisters-â
â-got em!â
âGreat. Launch them now.â
Gordon heard the hiss of the release over comms, moments before four more yellow rafts materialized.
Two lowered the grabs from her nosecone, providing a row of seats for the stranded passengers.
âWe have a tall ship, would you believe, nearby and willing to aid. I can ferry passengers there, unless Two is needed for something else?â
âDoes Two have any more clean agents? We could do with tackling the blaze to buy us time?â
âNo, but these guys might.â
Cass, and the crew leapt from the enhanced GDF carrier that had somehow escaped his notice. âDidn't think we'd let you have all the fun, did you?â
Gordon grinned. âThink you can buy us some time?â
âYou got it, Squid!â

âI need you to put on these jumpsuits.â Gordon instructed as he ripped open the vacuum sealed bags.
âNeon orange, really?â A person to his left complained.
âNice and bright! We'll be able to see anyone in the water, if it gets to that.â
âWhat's wrong with our life jackets?â
âI want you to wear the life jackets on top of these suits. The suits are thermally insulated to help retain body heat.â
There was another buzz from his wrist device. Gordon swiped open John's line.
âStatus update?â
The aquanaut sighed.
âWeâve mustered 3,200 safely aboard the lifeboats. A further 800 are on the inflatable rafts. Nearby vessels have so far taken 600. Virgil is ferrying what's left as fast as he can. Reality is, it's just not fast enough. Brains says the structureâs toast. I'm looking at 400 who will be in the water with me.â
âI'll see what I can do.â John blinked out.
An elderly man, who had stood back from the crowd, allowing others to obtain rescue supplies first, now stood without a jacket.
Gordon opened a line to Alan.
It was pointless.
He already knew resources were spent, but hope and desperation often walked hand in hand.
âAlan, I need more thermal jackets!â
âWe're all out! That was the last vacuum pack.â
The aquanaut ran a hand through his hair.
âAlright.â
The elderly hero stood no chance just wearing a light shirt in these waters.
Without a second thought, Gordon shucked off his own blue suit.
âHere, put this on.â he instructed, standing in just his undershirt and boxers.
The man blinked at him.
Gordon sighed.
âJohn, translation please.â
The blue hologram nodded, and words alien to his ears conveyed what needed to be said.
The man bowed his head in thanks, as Gordon helped him into the IR suit.
***
âNgk! Ngk!â Gordon's lungs fought against the shock of the frigid water.
âF-f-fuck! That's cold! Gargh!â
He swam to a deckchair and propped himself enough so that he could blow the whistle.
He blew five short, sharp blasts.
âEyes on m-me!â Volume was ripped from his voice as his lungs sought to prioritise his own survival needs over shouting.
âW-we are going to form s-survival c-circles! F-feet p-pointingâŚinwards! That's good! Like these g-guysâŚo-v-ver here!â
Gordon gasped.
Where the hell was his backup?
âK-keep eyes on-n-n the p-people opposite!â
He was still shivering. That was a good sign.
âArms l-linked. K-keep warm! H-hold each other up-p if-f some-w-one l-loses consciousness!â
The aquanaut blinked. Oil, salt, soot. It all conspired to blur his vision.
Another blink, and the grey sky came alive with a streak of green, as Two tore through the air.
Gordon swam to assist the next batch of people into the rollercoaster-esque style of seating.
The winch raised, swallowed the shivering survivors, and Two was gone, carrying them to God-knows-where.
Gordon did another headcount. It kept his brain functioning. Told him he was alive. Alert.
The age range was far smaller now. The elderly, and very young, all evacuated to safety.
âThunderbirds Four⌠and One⌠they'll be backâŚsoon.â
It was strange to think that they had only been in the water for a meagre five minutes. But at these temperatures, he'd be lucky to survive five more. Those wearing Brainsâ thermal suits stood to survive an extra twenty on that, but it wasn't a great deal of time, not really.
âKeep talking⌠StayâŚawaâŚâ
Someone blew a whistle.
Gordon startled into consciousness.
âStay with us Thunderbird Four!â
There were more peeps on whistles.
More calls for him to stay alive.
Gordon vaguely noticed that his skin was blue.
He had stopped shivering.

John? It's Ridley. Is everything alright? You went completely silent with no forewarning for a long time - I couldn't even get through to EOS.
Could you please let me know when you get this? Otherwise I'm going to assume you've gotten entangled in a major emergency that needs immediate backup.
Just... please let me know that you're safe.
"Ridley!" With a burst of bad static, John's head pops up on her comm. His hair is in absolute disarray and there's grease smudged across one cheek and on the collar of his spacesuit. "Boy am I glad to see you! Thunderbird Five's been having, uh, technical difficulties." He's got the ends of two wires twisted together in his hands, and he rips a strip from a roll of electrical tape with his teeth to bind them together. "Are the comms back up now? Geez, that was a scary one."

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for some more WIP extracts. Firstly from my Thunderbirds snippet 'supernova' - Thunderbird Three has launched and Gordon's updating them on the situation.
âItâll be a close one.â Gordon said as he popped up again. âIâm sending over the schematics now, but it looks like youâll have to use the secondary docking hatch.â âHave you let them know weâre on our way?â âI canât. Their comms are downââ âWhat?â John gripped the edge of his seat. âGordon, are you saying we canât contact them at all? That anything could be happening on that ship and we wouldnât know?â âI am constantly monitoring Starfinder Fourâs status as we speak,â EOS piped up, âand Ă SĂŠaghdha told us she and the crew would try and construct a rudimentary communications system â Iâm already putting power towards picking up and amplifying any signal that comes from them.â âThanks, EOS.â âGordon, are the emergency pods definitely out of action?â Alan asked. âLooks like it â that section of the ship took some heavy damage and even without that, their main systems are unsalvageable. There wonât be time for any onboard repairs â weâre gonna have to get them and go.â âWhat about the oxygen levels? Are they holding?â John figured Gordon wouldâve said so if not, but he knew exactly how quickly problems in space could get worse. âFor the time being, yes. Iâll let you know the second it changes, but Iâd recommend wearing EVA suits nonetheless.â âIâve brought your exosuit too.â Alan added, glancing towards him. âJust in case you need it.â
(Hint: he's going to need it.)
Sticking with Thunderbirds but this time the original series - the fic that the above one is an adaption of!!!
âWhatâs the current rate of descent?â âTwo thousand feet per minute, but theyâre worried thatâll change if the backups lose power. Theyâre unable to reach Ground Control so Iâm gonna set up a system to get around that.â âBut what couldâve caused it?â Gordon said. âI saw the initial specs â they compensated for any power overload.â âIt doesnât take much for things to go wrong.â Alan pointed out, frowning. âShould we take the elevator cars just in case?â âNo, thatâs too risky.â Scott told him. âIf the shipâs coming in at an angle it'll never work." âHey,â Gordon said, suddenly looking at John with wide eyes, âdo you think sheââ âWhat do you think, Gordon?!â John snapped. âOf course Sheridan recognised my voice, and sheâll recognise yours too. We canât hide this from herââ âAnd we wonât.â Dad assured him, giving Gordon a sharp look. âSaving lives is our priority and Sheridanâs professional enough not to give the game away â anything else can be dealt with afterwards.â âI didnât mean thatâŚâ âI know what you meant, but thereâs forty-five lives on board and thatâs what we have to focus on,â Dad said, going straight into command mode. âScott, take Thunderbird One to Mercury Ground Control and assess the situation. Virgil, take Gordon, Alan and Brains to intercept Starfinder One âitâs gonna have to be an on-board repair job.â âYes, sir.â âFAB.â
(Understandably, emotions are running pretty high.)
I've still not figured out the exact details of either rescue, only that for 'star fall' Gordon's the one who has to actively board the ship to try and repair the lifting and landing gear if he can (I'd have had Alan do the job but I'm trying not to be too similar to the Zero X incident in the '66 movie, hence my deciding to spare the ship itself.)

The travelers in Octopath Traveler are fascinating for many reasons. The reason that has me awake well into the night right now is the differences between characters of the same class and how different game mechanics tell you a lot about their respective personalities. Keep in mind while reading that it has been many months since I beat octopath 2 and Iâm only halfway through octopath 1.
This is most easy to see with two of the classes that seem to change the least, Hunters and Warriors. Both keep the same magic element, or lack there of in the warriorâs case, both keep most of the same utility moves, both still heavily favor martial abilities. However both use their weapons very differently.
Letâs start with the warriors. Olberic and Hikari both favor their swords in cutscenes, you could say itâs their signature weapon, and use their spears as a backup in combat. Itâs interesting to note this is opposite how these were used in history. Where they differ is how they use those weapons. Hikari uses his sword for quick strikes and complex maneuvers while using his spear for powerful thrusts. Olberic uses his sword for strong sweeps and cleaves while keeping his spear for fast and random jabs. Hikariâs main sword skill works mechanically very similarly to Olbericâs main spear skill.
This reflects their relative personalities well. Hikari tackles his problems through quick and clever action while Olberic is more straightforward and blunt in his approach. To borrow some trope terms Olberic is more like the team Big Guy while Hikari feels more like a Lancer. Both of these men would say you can learn much about someone by how they wield a blade, and theyâre definitely right.
Then we come to the hunters Hâaanit and Ochette. First letâs highlight their similarities: they both use the exact same elemental attack, Thunderbird, and no other magic, both favor their bow over their axe, they have some of the same utility abilities, and both fight side by side with captured monsters. And thatâs where the similarities end, but even their similarities already show differences. Hâaanit only has skills tied to her bow while Ochette at least has one ability for her axe. And then thereâs their capture abilities which change so much between the games itâs honestly hard to think of them as the same thing, They have completely different feels and trying to describe that would take a few paragraphs on its own so Iâll stick with their bow skills for now.
At first glance they seem to have the opposite skills than youâd expect. The impulsive and energetic Ochette carefully picks her targets with Precision Shots, while the Stoic Hâaanit makes wild volleys. But dig deeper and this makes perfect sense. First these styles fit the ones who taught them very well, both were taught by a master with the opposite personality as themselves. However there is also the fact that Hâaanitâs speed shooting style of archery, one that sacrifices accuracy and damage for stager potential, requires far more experience and skill to effectively pull off. It makes sense then that the barely teenage Ochette wouldnât go for it.
Thereâs honestly so much more to unpack with this. Some classes completely change which element they use, some use more magic skills while some use more weapon skills and others still use more utility skills. Some change their unique mechanics at a fundamental level, and have access to different passive abilities. And all this isnât even touching on how the Octopath 2 cast simply has more mechanics to work with.
In conclusion I am a giant nerd who enjoys coming up with story and character driven reasons for changes likely made to enhance gameplay experience. But more importantly mechanics are an important tool for characterization and we should pay attention to them. In any case I have so much more thoughts about this and hopefully now so do you!
#octopath traveler 2#octopath traveler#hikari ku#olberic eisenberg#hâaanit#ochette#penny for my thoughts#please ask me for more thoughts#Iâm also using this thoughts to come up with an oc crew of travelers#but Iâll go into that another time

In honour of Dean's birthday (and because of the uploading schedule I promised) the next chapter of Thunderbird is up!
Thunderbird
Summary:
Two bodies in Black Falls River, Wisconsin turn up charred and smoking, flash-cooked by powerful and supernatural lightning strikes. When Sam and Dean find glittering black feathers, stormy weather, and unusual electrical activity they call in backup to help them take out their target: A thunderbird.
Castiel is just trying to get by in a human world as best he can. His grace is recovering from what Metatron did to him, but the process has been slow, painful, and, most recently, violent. After he accidentally kills a human, he struggles to leave this tentative new life and start over yet again. Unfortunately, he's forced to when hunters come sniffing around for the creature responsible for the supernatural death.

Thunderbirds Rewatch 2nd Week
@thunderversary-rewatch-party
Space Race
Alan takes Thunderbird 3 and has to clear up some junk in space.
Scott and Gordon are on a high rise rescue, that would be a good episode to watch.
Alan picks up a space mine (which is now activated) left from the global conflict of 2040, love to have known more about that.
Pretty cool moment of Alan flying Thunderbird 3 getting the Mine's Id number for John to get the kill code.
Big bro concerned for little bro.
Parker the Grey Ninja getting the file for the kill code. But then gets caught.
Alan is risking his life just to guess the the last number for the kill code.
Luckily Lady Penelope calls in at the right moment
The Grey Ninja saving the day.
Crosscut
Scott and Virgil go to South Africa to find out why radiation has appeared, turns out, it's come from a old uranium mine, so Scott has to close it back up but finds out someone else is there, who is Marion Van Arkel, who's family used to own the mine but it was closed down 20 years ago as nuclear power wasn't safe and wasn't used anymore. Marion come to collect some Uranium for The Hood.
Scott and Brains criticising Grandmas Tracy's cooking but you can hear her in the background.
Virgil: If you don't Thunderbird 1, you'll end up fried worst than Grandma's chicken wings.
Scott: Careful, you never know who's listening, And for the record, I LOVE Grandma's chicken wings."
Scott and Marion arguing and Virgil has to interrupt them.
Virgil had enough of standing by and has a backup plan.
Virgil to the rescue.
Marion ends up getting a new job with the GDF.
Not the best episode as there were a few mistakes but they did correct those mistakes in another episode in season 3 Chain Reaction and Marion appears in that episode too.

'Not giving up; no not me.'
@thunder-tober Day prompt: 17 - Home Characters: Alan Tracy, Thunderbird Three Word count: 575
That dream I had a while ago crossed my mind again⌠xD The outcomeâs a bit all over the place but, I think I got the story I wanted to tell across aha- Thunderbird Three and Alan get stuck in space. All they can think about is getting home.
đâ¤ď¸TB ~~~ TB ~~~ TB ~~~ TB ~~~ TB ~~~ TB ~~~ TB ~~~ TB â¤ď¸đ
A hand slammed against his console. Thunderbird Three winced. It was no oneâs fault; it was no oneâs faultâŚ
Alan sat back with a sniffly huff, hands gripping his uniform as he glanced out the windshield to the vast of space before them. This was not happeningâŚ! They still had a rescue to do-!
â⌠I thought you had backupâŚâ he grumbled aloud, half without thinking. Blue eyes darted aside uncomfortably when he realised what heâd said. âWe shouldâve-âŚ!â
âCaptainâŚâ his Thunderbird started softly; Three providing a rumble of comfort. The one thing they couldnât risk right now was a panic. They were cruising, but who knew for how longâŚ? âI do; I tried to tell you. But those reserves have barely anything in them. Thereâs only so far I can go.â
âItâs better than nothingâŚ!â
The rocket was beginning to sense his pilotâs distress. There were times in the past heâd heard him this way, but someone had always been there as a co-pilot to back them up. This time, it was just the two of them⌠Alan reached over to poke the shipâs comm system again, but there was still nothing but silence. Whatever fuel Thunderbird Three had been running on, had pretty much burned out and cut off their chances of calling home that way. The Thunderbird himself was powering on with sheer hope and fight to keep his pilot safe.
â⌠I wanna go homeâŚâ
Three had barely heard him. He didnât know if it was because his processor was growing fuzzy, or the fact he was ignoring all other thoughts about what could happen. With a faint grunt, the craft pushed his scanners in an attempt to relocate the ship theyâd hailed the distress call from. If they found them, maybe he could refuelâŚ!
The astronaut lifted his head when he heard the sounds of the search; Alan then rubbing an eye with the back of his hand. Right⌠His Thunderbird wasnât giving up, so why should he? A few gently pressured taps to his craftâs controls again and he was finally able to bring up a holographic schematic of the Thunderbird, only for it to fizzle out a second later.
âThreeâŚ?â Blue eyes glanced up as he waited for a response.
âI will get you home, I swear it!â Thunderbird Three gritted out, spinning his thrusters in an attempt to grab any ounce of backup power he had left. His frame creaked from the lack of anything to get him going; his engines spluttering miserably. He shouldnât overdo it, he kept reminding himself, but⌠he had to..!
âFocus on finding that ship,â Alan insisted, shoving down his own concerns, and worries and, everything⌠âIf we can find them, and reach them, then we can worry about getting home.â
The Thunderbird held his tongue. Usually, heâd be the one telling him that⌠It had gotten to him that he just wanted to help, wanted to keep his pilot safe and alive⌠There was something they could do. And that had to be his focus for now.
âFAB⌠Sorry.â
âWe both had our freak outs but, we can do this, Three. Just like you told me; give it all youâve got, and hope for the best.â
With a soft rumble, Thunderbird Three set all his power to his scanners, reaching as far as he would let them. Alan watched in waiting, feeling lost until finally- A signal popped up on the radar.

I've been thinking long and hard about the BDS Microsoft Boycott call. The request focused on Microsoft Games, on the basis that, in theory, that's the easiest part of the Microsoft financial ecosystem for people to disconnect from in order to send a message. This includes pushing people (including parents) to uninstall and get their kids to stop playing Minecraft.
First off, the way the game industry is now, unfortunately, is that game developers or even full divisions of larger companies that underperform - or even just indy developers who self publish and underperform, just get shut down and everyone gets fired. Even if we boycott South of Midnight as part of the BDS movement and clearly communicate that message, what's more likely to happen is the company would be shut down, everyone would be fired, and a bunch of alt-right chuds would ignore the BDS boycott and call this a triumph of "Get Woke, Go Broke". They might even try to co-opt the movement as a half alliance of convenience, half desire to redirect the movement for antisemitic ends, with no actual interest in the plight of the Palestinian people.
There was an opportunity here to point people towards alternatives outside of either abandoning the software entirely, or alternative programs people who want to boycott can use to abandon something that they didn't think they could.
First, and this feels weird to say, Minecraft is something that doesn't have a lot of alternative replacements - it's a sandbox that allows children to indulge their imagination to create large scale ambitious projects that can't be replicated the same way as, for example, Lego, because they take no space in the real world, and thus you have no real world storage concerns, both in terms of space and in terms of risk of damage. The alternative to Minecraft isn't Palworld or Ark Survival Evolved. It's Roblox. And Roblox is also a bunch of dark patterns and sexual predators stacked on top of each other in a trenchcoat.
https://youtu.be/cGAXGroHZKA?si=SNfL_seTHlLTzLh4
https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2024-roblox-pedophile-problem/
Now, on the other hand, Microsoft will happily charge you money to host a Minecraft server through them, and that puts money in the Azure division, the part that is directly aiding and abetting Israeli war crimes. But you don't have to go through Microsoft. You can run your own Minecraft server. Microsoft even tells you how to do it.
https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360058525452-How-to-Setup-a-Minecraft-Java-Edition-Server
So, cancel your Minecraft Worlds subscription, and roll your own server. You can even set it up so it stays in your network, so your kid's friends have to come over to use it (or so it stays in the family).
Next up - Microsoft pushes OneDrive hard as part of Windows 11. They also pushed it hard on Windows 10. They insist that it's the best and biggest way, and easiest way to backup your data. It's not. There are myriad alternatives, from Google Drive, to Dropbox, to the Apple iCloud (if you use iOS devices). And, OneDrive uses Azure Cloud services to host your data
So, disable OneDrive, and go somewhere else. I've listed several alternatives above, but if you're okay with the backup being on site, you can also build a NAS (Network Attached Storage) server to store files locally. This does have the disadvantage that if something damages your house, your kinda in trouble, though using something like Backblaze on the NAS can make up for that.
Then there's the whole Microsoft 365 suite. Azure is connected to the Microsoft Office part of the business, and they've been incorporating some of those services, like Copilot, into Microsoft 365. So, again, there are alternatives.
LibreOffice has been around for years, is free, and runs locally with no cloud hooks. You can replace Outlook with Thunderbird, or the BetterBird fork.
Finally, there are the hooks to Copilot, which also runs on Azure, which Microsoft runs in the operating system. Turn that shit off.
https://www.tomsguide.com/computing/software/how-disable-copilot-in-windows-11
Also, turn off the Bing websearch hooks as well, as those also connect to Azure.
https://www.howtogeek.com/826967/how-to-disable-bing-in-the-windows-11-start-menu/
Also, if you use DuckDuckGo, that links with Bing for part of their search results, so you may want to switch back to Google or find another search engine in the interim.
