Word of the Day: BEGIN People always ask me, "How do you stay so disciple in your yoga practice and fitness routine? How do you CONTINUE to stay so CONSISTENT?" My answer: the key to CONTINUING is to BEGIN...AGAIN, and AGAIN and AGAIN. Each day I step on the mat or into a gym I feel like I am just BEGINing AGAIN. And thats because I approach it with a BEGINNERS MIND and a STUDENTS HEART. That way there is always something new to learn, it hopefully never gets boring, and you're excited to BEGIN AGAIN, the next day. So don't worry about CONTINUING, just keep BEGINING. In gymnastics VIRTUOSITY is defined as "doing the common uncommonly well". Greg Glassman founder of the CrossFit method famously said that it take 5 years to develop a great squat. I tell people all the time,...."I am NOT impressed with how heavy you can lift, what I AM impressed with is how ELOQUENTLY you are able to move!" It's been 7 years since I have been doing CrossFit and my proudest accomplishment is not that I can squat 300 lbs or Snatch 225, it's that I have developed such GOOD squatting mechanics. I hesitate to say GREAT because there is still so much to learn and improve on, specifically controlling my pelvic and thoracic articulation.
