prompt: all fluff (#5) “Are you warm enough?” & (#23) “I guess time flies when you’re with somebody you love.”

summary: the one where jinyoung slips his tongue and finally tells you the l-word

“There,” Jinyoung wraps you in a blanket–third one to be exact. “Are you warm enough?” He asks meekly. Without even turning to look at you, he plops himself down on the couch as well.

Jinyoung has always been shy, you’ll give him that. So it was always you who inititated something–through words. While him on the other hand, he settled for gestures. Which is why the rest of your group bailed on the both of you for tonight’s supposed weekly Friends marathon. Because let’s face it, there really is something between the both of you but none of you seem to want to say those exact words in order to finally turn your friendship into something else.

You open your arms and drape the blanket over Jinyoung, enclosing the both of you in its warmth. “There,” you tell him. “I’m warm now.” You smile at him and lay your head to rest on his shoulder. You don’t see it, but he smiles too. Strangely enough, there were smiles that didn’t need to be seen in order to be felt. For someone as shy as Jinyoung, you knew too well of this fact. You never needed to actually see him smile to know he was smiling–because he always was, whenever he’s with you.

A few hours later and the both of you were already on the last episode of Season 8. “Oh?” You blurt out in surprise. “We’re already done with the entire season?” Emphasizing on the word entire.

“I guess time flies when you’re with somebody you love,” Jinyoung says it so fast it was almost as if a sudden gush of wind just went through your ear.

“What?” You turn to face him, poking him on his stomach. “What did you just say, Bae Jinyoung?” You tease him further, wiggling your eyebrows.

He gasps, obviously out of panic and embarrassment. As if what he said wasn’t planned at all, it just came out–naturally. “I said what I said,” he brushes you off by covering your entire face with the blanket.

“Hey!” You yell at him, trying to untangle yourself out of the blankets. “You love me,” you bring your face closer to his, cupping his entire face that snugs itself perfectly within your hands. “Well lucky for you…I love you too.”

“What?” He asks, now turning to finally meet your eyes–his red face now evident thanks to the television’s light. Cute, really. You could’ve kissed his cheeks right then and there.

“I said what I said, Jinyoung. Took us long enough,” you say with a cheeky smile as you press play on the first episode of Season 9, cuddling closer to him–not wanting to end this night with Jinyoung just yet.

Dating an idol was quite a new experience for you. You had only been on one date through a whole month and you were missing Jinyoung a lot. But you decided to handle the situation like a normal adult because you understood and supported his dream and the lifestyle it implied.

After you mentioned wanting to see him he managed to work something out because he was dying to see you as well and promotions were finally over. You rushed to his dorm on a Saturday morning with your prettiest comfy outfit, a smile you hadn't worn in a long time and a small red velvet cake (from your favorite bakery) to share with the boys.

You were excited and a little nervous, giving how long it had been. You only knocked once before the door swung open in front of your eyes and Hyunsuk welcomed you in. Baejin was still inside his own room. You left the cake in the kitchen, greeted the other boys and slowly made your way into your boyfriend's room. He stood in front of his mirror, eyes focused on his reflection as he mumbled something.

-Yeah so... would you... like... - he sighed closing his eyes and made eye contact with you through the mirror when he opened them. - Aaaahhh! God! You scared me...

-I missed you too. - you laughed softly, patting his back with a smile.

-Oh, yeah, I... Hi, babe. - he laughed shyly and turned around. - Should we go-?

-I like your hair. - you interrupted him and reached your hands up to play with it. - I just had to get that out of my chest, it's pretty, you're so pretty.

-You're prettier. - he blurted out almost automatically and blushed immediately after.

You got out of the room holding hands and his band mates started cooing at you two teasingly. He covered his face with his other hand and hid behind you at first but kicked their legs under the table once you all sit down to taste the cake.

-Why red velvet? I thought you'd bring my favorite one. - he pouted at you after taking a spoonful. - I ordered your favorite pizza for dinner, sweety.

-Valentine's was last week so actually... I didn't have many other options, you know? - you pointed at him with your fork and he leaned in to eat the cake left on it.

-That's an indirect kiss! - Yonghee screamed loudly while laughing and pointing at you.

-They're dating, remember? - said Byounggon between giggles.

-Aaaahhh! My eyes! - Hyunsuk dramatically shoved Jinyoung and covered his eyes.

-This is why I said we should go out. - your boyfriend placed his arm around your shoulders and glared at the other members.

-You'd miss us too much. - Yonghee stuck out his tongue playfully.

-Having Dispatch follow us around and shoving cameras on our faces sounds like such a good plan, babe. - you ran your fingers through his hair and smiled ironically.

You got a few soda cans from the convenience store down the street and continued to eat more cake and take random quizzes on your phones to find out what kind of hamburger you were based on your favorite horror movie.

-Where's Seunghun? I haven't seen him all day. - you asked, staring at the untouched plate, and they started laughing uncontrollably. - What?

-He missed our appointment at the hairdresser a couple days ago because he fell asleep and he didn't want the company to find out so... he planned on dying his hair it himself here. - Hyunsuk struggled to explain as he chuckled nonstop.

-Seunghun! Come out now! We've got a guest, don't be disrespectful! - Byounggon screamed between laughs to try and get the other boy to come out.

While the other three boys made their way to bang on the door and burst into Seunghun's room Jinyoung moved his chair a little closer and gave your cheek a sweet short kiss. You blushed and laughed because of how shy he usually was at the dorm and softly pecked his lips before turning around again.

Yonghee dragged Seunghun out of his room, pulling his sleeve with a mischievous smirk as Hyunsuk pushed him from behind and Byounggon clapped. A towel was covering the fun hair you wanted to see incredibly badly and they all stopped in front of you. Right when Yonghee took the towel Seunghun turned around and you tilted your head in confusion.

-Was it not supposed to be red? I think it still fits him, maybe the stylist can make it work or... - your words died in your throat as he turned around and you started laughing too.

-I don't see what you all find so funny! You should feel bad for me if anything, heartless- meanies. - he crossed his arms over his chest and pouted with a glare.

-But your eyebrows are red too! It's not even the same shade, it's like fucsia! Plus-! - he interrupted your remarks and giggles with random screams.

-Hey, I brought you cake so it'd be nice if you could not make my ears bleed, bro. - you laughed again, staring at his fun eyebrows.

-What? Why didn't anyone tell me? You're seriously the best!

And you all continued to make fun of him and played a few rounds of just dance until it was finally and sadly time for you to go back home. It was definitely worth the wait.

A/N: a short soulmate au I wrote a while ago~ i got an ask about what story i liked least (but i do love now!) and I said I didn’t want to post it, but I started finishing it today and I kind of am a bit more satisfied with this now lol hope you guys like it I guess?

He was just a young, teenage boy who loved the scent of spring approaching the summer. He always loved taking photos, often of foliage and sceneries, making them memories of the places he has visited as he often traveled with his family within the country. He was quite a perfectionist, often taking photos of the same detail many times, just to get the right contrast and the proper lighting needed for his subject. Once he was satisfied, he would keep it and often print the photo as a part of a portfolio that he prepared for when he becomes a professional photographer. He would often wonder why nature fascinated him so much, taking deep breaths as he feels the wind blow through his hair as he reminisces his childhood that was full of travels to the countryside with his parents

“Jinyoung? Can you take a photo of me and your father here?” his mother called, making him take a pause from photographing a plant that had caught his eye

“No problem, mom.” he smiled as he slowly prepared his camera to a proper portrait photo to take a photo of his parents, standing by a tree full of blooming cherry blossoms

“Say kimchi!” he appealed, making both of his parents flash wide smiles that once he took, pleased him to a point where he would want to put it on a frame and display it at his home

“You guys look great.” he grinned as he showed the photo to his parents, also as satisfied as him

“Jinyoung, my friend has told me about this art exhibit that will be held at a museum near our home. Do you want to go?” his father asked, and Jinyoung nodded in excitement

“Alright. I’ll call him later.” he smiled as he pat Jinyoung’s back, looking at his wife

“I’ll continue to go around and take photos, mom, dad.” Jinyoung asked permission as he set back his camera to the usual mode he used for taking beautiful photos, and his parents nodded as they walked around themselves and enjoyed the last few bits of spring

Jinyoung couldn’t help but smile whenever he saw birds chirping and butterflies gather around the flowers and other small plants that surrounded the park, often taking fast shots for when they started to fly away. He often found it hard to take shots of these creatures, pouting whenever he took a photo with even the slightest blur he could see. He walked towards a bench, eyeing one of the biggest trees that had grown within the park. His eyes sparkled as he noticed the beauty of the cherry blossoms starting to slowly fall from the branches of the tree, feeling the excitement as one petal fell to his hand as he held it out, slowly smelling it and blowing it away.

You slowly stood next to the same tree, not knowing that Jinyoung had been nearby, and him not noticing you approach it as well since he was busy admiring the tree itself. You smiled as a few petals fell on your hand, blowing it away. You loved spring, and you were becoming a little bit poignant at the fact that it was to end soon. You walked around the tree, wondering how such a big tree was able to survive the seasons that had always passed and how the park always planted and replanted every single tree around, but this had stayed the longest, you assumed. The wind slowly blew your hair, making you get a whiff of the cherry blossom petals from the tree. You closed your eyes as you felt the wind blow and took deep breaths, enjoying the leisure you had just received after a long while.

As the wind blew, Jinyoung’s eyes glistened as he noticed many of the cherry blossoms falling, immediately grabbing his polaroid camera from his satchel; a gift given to him by his mother on his birthday the past year, for he wanted instantly printed photos of anything he found beautiful in his eyes. He immediately situated himself to a proper position for the tree to be seen, along with some of the petals that were falling. 

One click from his polaroid, and it instantly flashed as he became satisfied of the quick print. Taking the film with his right hand and swaying it for him to be able to see the outcome of his photo.

You opened your eyes, noticing that you had stood by the tree for quite a while. You walked away to the nearby manmade bridge where you saw your mother, smiling as she looked at the small pond nearby and a dozen or more water lilies. You approached her and stood next to her, holding her hand as you both recalled the past few times you had been in the same place.

“Whenever I cross over this bridge, I remember how I met your father.” your mother said as she took a small sigh, closing her eyes as she caressed the crown of your hair

“How did you meet him, mom?” you asked curiously, turning to her as she stopped caressing your hair and put a few strands away from your face, putting them behind your ears

“He was taking a photo of the pond. I happened to pass by the bridge while he was taking it, and he didn’t notice until he had it developed at a film store. A few months later, here at the same spot, before he was to take another photo of the bridge and the pond, he saw me pass again. He immediately approached me and introduced himself. A gentleman, I assumed. And from then on, we fell in love at first sight.” she smiled as she looked up at the birds chirping on a tree that was nearby, remembering the memory that she wanted to keep forever

“I miss him.” you said as you gripped your mom’s hand a little bit tighter

“I miss him a lot too, my daughter. Hopefully, one day, you will be able to meet someone the same way I did.” she smiled as she pulled you into a hug, you resting your head on her shoulder as you let a tear drop

Jinyoung finally saw the result of the polaroid, tremendously satisfied at how the beauty of the cherry blossoms were captured. As he eyed the photo, he somehow saw a figure of a girl standing next to the tree, eyes closed as he saw the polaroid had also captured the wind blowing through her hair. His eyes widened in surprise, for he suddenly felt his heart beat faster at the figure. He blinked a couple of times before he could look around to find any sight of the girl in the photo, quickly walking away in hopes he could find her.

Your mother decided to go to the other side of the park to sit down and take a break from all the walking, and you continued to just stand by the bridge. You looked at all the water lilies slowly floating away from each other as the wind blew, making you smile as you remembered a few childhood memories of passing by the bridge as well. You let out a small breath as you turned to continue to pass by the bridge, not expecting what would happen next.

“Excuse me?” a young man called you, and you turned to see him with his small satchel slung to his shoulder and his camera hung around his neck

“Yes?” you smiled as he approached you, feeling your heart beat a little faster than usual as you took a glance of his eyes

“I took a photo of the tree over there, and I think you are the girl who was also captured in the shot.” Jinyoung took a deep breath as he showed you the polaroid he took earlier, making you blink a few times to realize it was actually you. But you examined the petals falling from the tree, grinning as you thought it was a remarkably gorgeous shot

“It’s a really beautiful photo. I’m sorry for being in the shot.” you chuckled as you gave back the polaroid, Jinyoung suddenly becoming shy as he took it from your hand

“You fit well with the shot itself.” he smiled as he looked at you again, feeling his cheeks heat up from shyness

“That’s interesting. Thank you.” you beamed cheerfully as you looked back at him, gazing into his eyes that were already full of sparkle from seeing you for the first time

“My name is Jinyoung.” he warily held out his hand for a handshake, hoping for you to grab it without hesitation from his nervousness

“Y/n. Nice to meet you.” you grabbed his hand lightly as you shook it, him not able to refrain his wide smile to you as he was able to touch the softness of your hand.

Yoonmi turned her head and saw Taehyung approaching her. She looked up at Yoongi who sighed and placed her hand in Taehyung’s before pressing a kids on the too of her head. “Happy birthday, Princess.”

Before she could say anything, she found herself being pulled back to the center of the stage. A laugh escaped her as she went along with Taehyung’s dancing.

“You’re growing up,” Taehyung noted.

She smiled at him. “Yes, I am. I guess this means no more Disney marathons with sugar-induced comas?”

“Like you’d ever give that up,” he laughed. “Or us, either. That’s when you eat most.”

“That’s a lie!”

The two friends laughed before falling into step with each other once more. She let her head come forward to rest on his shoulder, slowing down from the excited and flamboyant spins and twirls they started with to steady sways.

“You know,” he began, “you don’t have to give up being a kid yet. There are still groups debuting with maknaes your age.”

She snorted. “You mean like Daehwi in AB6IX? Or the maknae in Baejin oppa’s new group?”

“Exactly!”

“Oppa,” she lifted her eyes to meet his, “I think I reached the peak of my maturity when I was nine. If you’re worried I’m going to turn into a washed out adult, then you have nothing to worry about.”

He sighed in relief. “Good. Thank you, aegi, I needed to hear that before someone else steals you.”

“No one’s going to steal me.” Just as she said that, a certain Park Jimin had pulled her to himself, greeting her with a smile. “I stand corrected.”

“My turn!” The elder of the 95s was practically bouncing in his shoes. “Sorry, Taehyung, but you took way too long already.”

Taehyung just laughed and walked back to the rest of the boys who were trying her cake. Once she turned back to Jimin, she found him already looking at her. It was as if he was trying to see into her mind with how focused he seemed to be.

“Oppa,” she poked his cheek, “what’s going on in that head of yours?”

“Nothing,” he shook his head. “I guess I just realized why dads would cry in those videos of 18th birthday parties that we searched up for ideas. I just got hit with the fact that you’re growing up. You’re going to be an adult by out standards in like two weeks!”

Right. The Korean age means she adds another number to her age as soon as new year hits. She’d be 20 in Korea within the next few weeks.

“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.”

“I knew you since you were twelve, of course it’s a big deal.” Jimin had looked down and stared at their feet while they danced. “You used to stand on my toes while we danced like this. Now, you’re in a dress and heels, perfectly dancing without my help.”

“Many things to point out here,” she laughed. “You chose my outfit, I don’t do dresses. You’re leading, which means you are technically helping me. Also, I’m heavy now!”

He scoffed at her. “Please, you’re as light as a feather. My little aegi needs some cake in her. Or am I not allowed to call you aegi now?”

The sudden solemn expression on his face tugged at her chest. Sure, Jimin would always joke around about how she was his Busan Baby since Jungkook took the title of Jimin’s Busan Boy. It never really occurred to her how seriously he took her nickname, especially since the only other person who called her aegi was the one and only Kim Taehyung who babies her arguably the most out of the boys.

“Oppa,” she gave him a reassuring smile, “don’t looks so sad. I know I’m going to be an adult soon, but I’m still your Busan Baby. And it’s not like you have to stop calling me aegi anytime soon. You are my oppa, and, since I’m your maknae, that still makes me your baby, doesn’t it? So don’t be all upset.”

Jimin just pulled her into a tight hug. “Fine. Only because my aegi says so. How about we get some cake in you?”

The smile she heard in his voice made her smile even wider. “Sure.”

“What? You’re dying?” you asked. Your words came out harsh, maybe even alittle rude, but Jinyoung didn’t take offense. He knew you, better than anyoneelse. You words may have sounded snarky, but they weren’t. This was the type ofbanter the two of you always had, and even in a serious situation like this, hedidn’t expect anything else from you, his childhood friend. If anything, itfelt… comfortable.

Jinyoung let out a scoff inresponse. “Yeah, I’m dying. Would I be in a hospital if I wasn’t?” he asked, asmirk forming on his lips as you drew closer to him. Truthfully, he didn’tthink that you would even show up today. If he were going to be honest, he hadn’tbeen the best friend lately. He was too busy trying to live his life before itwas too late, and he kind of left you on your own. And yet, here he was, at theend and you were the only one that showed up. It was just you. He felt reallyshitty about it, and he knew that you knew. He never had to say it directly.Just like you didn’t have to state your worry directly.

“I don’t know. You couldalso be here because you got injured during one of those dumb ass bets withyour new friends,” you retorted back. Though you played it off as if it weren’ta big deal, inside you were a complete mess. Jinyoung’s mother had called youwhen he was taken to the hospital after having collapsed in pain on his way out thedoor that morning. You were on your way to your weekend tutoring session whenit happened, and you weren’t entirely sure what to do. When your motherrealized how distraught you were, she asked what was wrong and took you rightto the hospital, no other questions asked. You knew this was coming, but youstill weren’t ready for it.

Jinyoung had been sick fora long time, since you were both very young. His doctor had told his parentsthat he didn’t have much time, which led them to being more protective on him,which was why you were one of his only friends growing up. As he got older andlearned of his situation, you knew he resented it. He hated being babied and itled your childhood friend to become reckless once he entered high school. Yousaw less of him when he started hanging out with other adrenaline seekers,doing all the things he wanted to do before it was all over for him.

Though you wanted to stophim, you knew you couldn’t. All you could do was watch. And yet, though it puta strain on the two of you, you had to be here if this was really end. You hadto see him again. And you knew, you knew he felt the same. There was a lot ofregrets in the moment, for the both of you, but you were trying, trying to bestrong about it.

“I will say,” you started,situating yourself on the end of his hospital bed. “For someone who’s dying, you look kinda happy though.” 

Jinyoung gave you thatsignature smirk of his. “It’s a shitty situation… but, there is something to behappy for…”

“Oh, and what’s that?” youinquired.

“It brought you back tome, and for a dying guy that hasn’t been particularly great to you, that’squite the win,” he said, wincing a bit from the pain that was radiating throughhis body. It was unbearable. He was just fine a couple of days ago, and now…now he couldn’t even move and the only thing keeping him from screaming werethe meds.

It was agonizing seeinghim in pain. You felt your heart throbbing, wanting to find a way to help him,even though you knew one didn’t exist. This hurt more than you had expected.Why did it have to be like this?

“You idiot, I never left. Youjust chose bad friends…” you muttered.

“Still, you’re here andthey’re not. Guess who won the best friend title.”

“Oh shut up,” you mumbled,his words unintentionally hurt. That title… you wouldn’t have it for muchlonger…

You were about to saysomething else when a nurse poked her head in and told you that visiting hourswere almost over. You thanked her and reluctantly got up. “Guess I can’t stayany longer…” you told him as you turned to face him again. He looked tired,gaunt, unlike the Jinyoung you remembered. “Yah, but you don’t get to die if I’mnot here, okay?”

“You know I can’t promise –”he started, but then he saw your eyes. They were glaring at them, but he couldsee the sadness behind them too. It broke his heart. “Ah, okay, okay. Fine. Iwon’t die until you come back.”

“Good,” you replied,before heading towards the door.

“Hey,” Jinyoung said just whenyou were about to leave. “You don’t have to, but if you’re willing to risk it,why not just stay? After all, I am dying,” he pointed out, a small smirkforming on his lips as you turned back to face him.

“Gosh, so demanding.” You rolledyour eyes at him before moving back to his side. He moved a bit, grimacing inpain as he did so, but made enough room so that you could crawl onto the bedand cuddle into his side. “You know, normally I wouldn’t, but since you’redying, I guess I could grant you this last wish…” you murmured, resting yourhead on his arm.

Jinyoung, for the firsttime that night felt at ease. “Thank you…” he told you softly as he wrapped hisarms around you. “Thank you for everything…”

You gave a small nod, yourhand tightly gripping onto his hospital gown. “I love you…” you told him softlyas the two of you drifted off into sleep.

You hoped with all of yourheart that he would still be with you in the morning… but you wish wentunanswered…

You smile up at him. You honestly couldn’t believe you scored such a cute, loving boyfriend in your first year of college.

“I’m trying to make cookies for you,” You start out with a grin resting on your lips, “But I’m too short to reach the flour…. can you get it for me?”

Jinyoung lets out a delighted giggle. This was a scenario he always wanted to happen to him ever since he was a young boy so for it to actually be happening delighted him to no end.

“You’re so adorable!” He squeezes your cheek before walking up to the cabinet, easily grabbing the package of flour.

“Thank you, Jinyoung!” You grab the flour into your hands and resume to make the cookies.
