The silence was suffocating as she stared him down, heart pounding in her ears. Dick let out a slow breath before he shook his head.

The sounds of a fight caught Nightwing’s attention as he patrolled, trying desperately to take his mind off of Marinette and the events of last night.

His heart stopped as he saw Marinette in the alley way with two thugs. It looked as if they’d been through a small scuffle and were playing with their target now. He jumped down to help, landing in the entrance of the alley way when he froze, watching Marinette quickly duck under a punch, catching the fist and using that to swing him into his partner, letting go and causing both of them to go flying into the dumpster, the lid slamming shut on them.

She’d been the one toying with them. That much was clear now. He blinked as he processed what he just witnessed. He knew she was strong but to that decree shocked him. His sweet, kind, caring, girlfriend just took out two thugs as easily as if she were breathing was the last thing he’d ever expected.

Nightwing stood there reevaluating everything he knew about her, as she picked up her purse, slinging it across her body before leaving the alley way, freezing when she finally noticed him.

He opened his mouth to say something but she was already gone, hurrying away towards their- her? Apartment. Leaving him to take care of the two thugs before trying to straighten things over with her.

He left them on the curb, tied up for GCPD to pick up at some point, confident they weren’t going anywhere as they were still fairly out of it and seemed more likely to pass out than escape.

Instead of waiting he buried back to the Cave, changning out of his suit, showering and changing before going to see Marinette. He stood outside of the door for a good five minutes before knocking gently.

She opened the door, her eyes bloodshot as she looked at him for a second before slamming the door in his face.

“Go away,” she called through the door.

“One more chance Marinette. Please. That’s all I’m asking.”

“You had one and blew it last night.”

“Two words. That’s all I’m asking for you to listen to. Two words. You don’t even need to open the door if you want. Just, give me one final chance.”

“Two words.”

Dick swallowed as she said that.

“I’m Nightwing.”

He stood there for a minute, waiting for any response from her. There was nothing but silence from the other side of the door. It dragged on for what felt like an eternity. He took a breath as he rested his forehead on the door, coming with terms that he had screwed everything up.

“I’m so sorry, Marinette,” he whispered before pushing away from the door, starting to walk away as it swung open.

“Come in,” was all she said, before walking away, leaving the door open as she put the kettle on the stove. She kept her back to him the entire time she made tea, not facing him until she slid a mug across the island at him before hopping up to sit on the counter across from him, her own mug in hand as she took a sip.

“Are you finally ready to give me something solid instead of vague answers?”

He nodded.

She didn’t say anything, just sat there waiting for him to continue.

“Like I said. I’m Nightwing. That’s where I disappear to at night. Patrolling Gotham or Bludhaven, helping the teams, acting as backup for my family.”

“Your whole family are the BatClan?”

He nodded. “That’s why I didn’t want to tell you where I was going. I didn’t want to put that target on your back.”

“I can handle myself.”

“I know that now. But even then. Jason- He can handle himself and the Joker killed him. It doesn’t matter how well you can handle yourself”

“I have some advantages.”

“You do?”

“Maybe you’ll find out someday.”

“Someday.”

“I’m still upset, butI can’t be mad at you because you have a good reason. It’ll take me a few days to sort everything out, but I don’t want to lose you over vigilantism.”

“Mari-” she shook her head, putting her mug down.

“I’ve had enough revelations today. Let’s just go to bed.”

“Let’s?”

“Would you rather I snuggle your tear stained shirt?” she asked.

He pulled her into a hug resting his forehead on hers. “I’m so sorry, Marinette.”

“I know. Let’s go to bed.”

“Okay.”

Devil Book: Wolf Pack Au

Summary: Ripping a bear in peices was easy, wanting to read a stupid book about a cat who wears a hat was a pain in the ass.

You rolled your lip between your teeth as you concentrated on the book in front of you, learning to read was harder than you thought it to be.  Ever since you had found your way back to your mates after the hunter had attacked you you had been trying to integrate yourself in ‘human’ activities, since the pack you had came from found omegas such as yourself as nothing more than breeding cattle. You truly don’t understand how you survived the anbush of hunters when you were fithteen, how you made it on your own without being ripped in two or passed around a pack of rouge Alphas. But you did. You learned to hunt and protect yourself all on your own, yet you could read a stupid childrens book and it made you want to pull your hair out.

“I can rip a grown ass black bear in two and yet i cant read this dumb book about a cat!” You growled, throwing the book across the nesting room as you threw a fluffy fur blanket over yourself as you let out another growl when you heard chuckling. “Laugh at me one more time Namjoon and I’ll make you choke on your own dick.” Your words brought more laughter making you throw the fur blanket off as you leap off of the mattresses you were curled on, he caught you before you tumbled to the grow as you nipped at the place where his matting mark that you had given him a couple night after you healed from the hunters. Your actions made him almost melt to the ground as a satisfying chirp sound passed his lips, only for your actions to be replicated, making you shiver as you pout and slap his shoulder. “Not fair you have more affect on me then I do you, stupid Alpha pharamones.” You grumbled as he moved his hands to pick your thighs up and wrap them around his waist.

“Hey now, not ture.” He mumbled making you roll your eyes as he moved out of the nest and into the kitchen were Jin and Jimin were, your fellow Omegas, they were cooking, something you were now ‘never allowed to do again’, after you had somehow caught your shirt on fire leading to a temporary burn on your stomach that the Alphas and Omegas freak out on while the two Betas, Hoseok and Taehyung, tried to keep them calm as you rolled your eyes and complained. “My omegas have an affect on me that can literally bring me to my knees.” Him said, setting you onto the counter as Jimin turned to stare at the two of you, his plush lip slightly jutting out as he made small grabby  hands towards the head Alpha making his dimples show as the tips of his ears slightly reden.

“I agree, Alpha pheromones are much more potent then Omega ones Joonie.” Jimin said, making his eyes roll his eyes as he shook his head.

“Not true, you-”

“It’s so true, you guys not only have the pheromones but the Alpha tone as well hence you having more effect on us.” Jin cut in, making you chuckle as he passed the Alpha to stand between your legs, his lips pressing against your, making you smile brightly as you cup one of his cheeks as you rut your forehead against his, making him smile brightly at you as he went back to his work making dinner.

“Yoongi do Omegas have more effect on us than we do them?” He asked as your dark aura mate walked into the kitchen from the smell of food, he froze in his tracks though at the question as he tilted his head to the side. A small confused  look settled on his face making your heart speed up as you opened your arms towards him making him rush over to stand between your legs, his back facing your chest as your arms settled around his neck. Namjoon smirked at movements, as if proving his point.

“I mean yeah I guess, but it's only our mates any other Omega makes me want to vomit if I’m being honest.” His words had the three of you almost swooning as your grip tightened around him, nose nuzzling into his hair as you purr into his skin.

“My Alpha.” You grumbled making his body almost go liquid as his head rolled back into your shoulders as his hands moved to your thighs. Your eyes widening at the vulnerable state one of you Alphas was putting himself into. His neck almost fully exposed to you, the others mating marks on show almost making you whine and whimper. Namjoon has been the only one you let mark you as well as the only one of your mates that held your mark. You were cautious on how fast you moved with your mates, sex was one thing, but mating was another that you weren’t fully perpared for with all of them just yet. But seeing Yoongi in this state you want to bite down on his pale skin.

“Stop staring at my neck and listen to Namjoon.” Yoongi mumbled makin you blink out of you state, your hand softly kneading his shoulders they rested on. You shake your head and look to see the smirks of Namjoon and Jimin, as Jin laughed softly as he peeked over his shoulder to look at the two of you.

“His neck looks a little too bare for your liking I see.” Namjoon mumbled, making you glup as Yoongi huffed then looked at you from the corner of his eye, a look of want hidden with in them. As soon as you saw it it seemed to disappears just as fast, he pushed away from you making you frown as he ran his handd through his hair. Hoseok came bounding in to the kitchen just as Jin finished the Samgyetang off making all of you move to the dining room table.  As you sat down Jungkook tailed in, his hair disheveled, a large grey shirt hung off of his shoulder with balck sweatpants. Yoongi stayed away from you, his eyes seeming not to want to meet yours, you making you sigh softly. Jungkook moved and sat next to you, his head falling onto you shoulder making you reach up and ruffle his hair some more making him smile at you.

“Dinner smells good babe.” Taehyung mumbled as he sat next to Jin, kissing the older man on the cheek making him smile as he nodded at everyone. The Alphas bengin to start to serve the Omegas, as Betas dug in. As Jungkook fills your plate you couldn't help but look at Yoongi, a small frown on your face as you began to eat.

“What started that conversation in the kitchen anyway you two?” Jimin mumbled, making Namjoon chuckle as he looks at you, making you bow your head in embarrassment as you try to cover your reddening cheeks.

“Y/n was trying to read a book and got very frustrated.” He said making the table all coo’ at you making you growl as you glare at your mates.

“Not funny..I literally can rip bears and mountain lions into pieces but I can’t read about a dumb fucking cat who wears a dumb fucking hat and it pisses me off.” Your words had the room erupted into laughter making you huff as you cross your arms,  genuine hurt filling your body making Namjoon stop his laughter, your connection linking eachother emtoions to one another. He let out a soft growl making the others stop, you felt Jungkook's arms wrap around your waist only for you to push him away as you stood up and walked to the nest, grabbing the devil book and locking yourself into a bathroom. Your body moving to the tub as you look at the cover, your eyes squinting as you growled. “Stupid.stupid...stupid omega.”You mumbled as there was a knock on the door.

“Y/n..its Hoseok..can you open up? Just for me?” You felt yourself move as you unlocked the door and rush back into the tub, Hoseok softly giggling as he saw you there. “Can I..can I help you?” You growled as you look at the book in your head.

“No you laughed at me.”

“I laughed at your comment, not the fact that you can’t read.”  He mumbled moving to sit next to the tub, his hand reaching out to run through your hair making you unconsciously lean into his touch as you look at him and huff , handing him the book as he smiles softly at you. “Also never call yourself stupid, cause you are the smartest omega I know, you learned how to protect  yourself at a younge age, you learned to hunt by yourself and you surived...you are anything but a stupid omega.” his words made you smile softly as he stood up and held his hand out to you. Lifting yourself from the tub he led you to the nest where everyone was already soft from fairy light you had bought at the human market made their eyes slightly sparkling making your heart flutter.

“Let's teach you to read, our silly omega.” Taehyung mumbled, grabbing your free hand as he pulled you on top of the nest, sitting between Namjoons legs as Jimin and Jin moved to rest their heads on either of your legs. 

“Okay, follow after me..Cat..in..the..hat.”

“Cat in the hat...stupid fucking devil book.” You grumbled out making the nest erupte with a set of giggles as you felt namjoons nose nuzzle into your mark making you detense as you look around the room.

“Keep going Y/n.” Yoongi mumbled a small smile on his face making you huff as you softly smiled back, one of your hands moving to Jins har making the oldest smile up at you.

“Th..the sun did not sh..shine?” You mumbled making Namjoon nod as you pointed out each word, sounding each one out in your ear as you mimicked the sounds he made, stuttering over some words in frustration or slight hesitation. Yet all you could feel around you was love.
