Bryan- 1 year, unaltered male, 37lbs

Bryan is an adorable and petite 1-year old pup with a heart full of love to give!

This charming boy is a fantastic walking companion, making walks in the neighborhood a breeze. Bryan is already well on his way to learn whatever you want to teach him; he knows the 'sit' command and he also seems like he understands 'paw'. One of Bryan's standout qualities is his affectionate nature- he adores being around his human friends and will shower you with affection.

Whether it's snuggling up to you on the bench or leaning in for pets, Bryan is your guy! He has also done well with other dogs while at the shelter.

Recently, Bryan went on a short foster break so that we could get to know him, and he has a lot of fantastic qualities! He loves the car and jumps right in, ready for where you want to take him. He is quite the social butterfly and loves meeting new people, accepting attention with a wiggly and loose body. He is almost housebroken and is very smart and has been catching on quickly, too! He may be deaf or hard of hearing, but Bryan has done very well with hand signals and is always very engaged.

Unfortunately, Bryan is incredibly stressed in the shelter environment. He has been started on gabapentin and trazodone to help, but he is still unable to settle, licking the door frame of his kennel to the point of pooling saliva and sadly vocalizing frequently. He is the same way in a crate, as well, so will require a slow acclimation to crating in the future.

BARCS is out of dog space and it is not fair to Bryan's mental and physical well-being to have his frustration continue to build. Due to his increasing stress, Bryan needs rescue placement no later than close of business (6pm) 9/26.

In Baltimore City, MD: Beautiful, sweet, trusting emaciated dog seeking rescue for continued care - BARCS, Baltimore MD

- Rescue Needed - Sea Glass- 2 years, altered female, 39lbs

Sweet, beautiful 'Sea Glass' was found all alone on someone's porch in mid-August. She was severely emaciated, with her ribs, spine, and hip bones clearly visible, and she appeared to have pressure sores on her hips, legs, and tail. The finder immediately called Animal Control for assistance and Sea Glass was transferred to BARCS for further care.

Upon examination, our vets noted that Sea Glass was emaciated (with a body condition score of only 1/9) and dehydrated, has moderate periodontal disease, dermatitis, and and a grade 3/6 heart murmur. She was very weak and nervous, understandably, but cooperative and tolerant nonetheless. She was given subcutaneous fluids and was started on meds and a strict refeeding schedule.

We were lucky enough to see Sea Glass start to thrive in a temporary foster home but she is now back at the shelter to no fault of her own. She has gained almost over 10lbs and we would love to see her off to a rescue so her journey to recovery can continue!

We learned that this girl loves with her whole heart! She snuggles up close to her people and her tail wags a mile a minute. Now that she is starting to feel better and has the energy, she loves to play fetch and tug of war. She is very housebroken and loves her crate so she is quite the easy houseguest. Sea Glass is still learning her manners when it comes to food but who can blame her. Her demeanor is just the sweetest and her temporary foster mom gave her the nickname, Honey.

Sea Glass also had a very low-key, gentle dog test (due to her condition) and was overall nervous but friendly around other dogs at the shelter.

Sea Glass is available immediately for rescue pick-up.

In Baltimore County, MD: URGENT!: Puppy with Broken Leg Needs Rescue Today!

Baltimore County Animal Services is seeking urgent rescue placement for Mocha, a 4.5 month old, 30 pound pittie puppy that was surrendered to us for euthanasia yesterday. Mocha previously had a fracture in her hind left leg that her owners had taken her to the vet to be pinned and care for her. Mocha recently fell down the stairs and reinjured the leg and her owners could not afford care for her and surrendered her to us. Mocha is currently on pain medication while with us, but desperately needs a rescue that can take her in, gets x-rays and see if she possibly needs a pin put back in place, or an amputation. Mocha is a sweet girl, and it’s difficult to get a good picture of her as she wants to get pets and attention and smiles and wags her tail when she is pet. If you are interested in pulling Mocha, or have any questions, please let us know!

In Baltimore City, MD: 7-month-old pup with the sweetest baby face is looking to decompress outside of the shelter - BARCS, Baltimore MD

Marley- 7 months, unaltered female, 35lbs

7-month-old baby face, Marley, was brought to the shelter after being found as a stray on someone's porch. She arrived in our care completely shut down, trembling and terrified. We quickly moved her into a quiet staff office where she has begun to decompress and finally show her sweet nature.

When given some time to get to know you, Marley can be very outgoing. With her friends, she is snuggly, playful, and goofy. She will occasionally check in with you, walks very well on the leash, knows sit, and doesn't mind her crate either.

When tested off-leash in the shelter's play yard, Marley was very nervous and avoidant of other dogs, but was able to coexist peacefully around them.

Marley is being treated for some mild otitis, but appears otherwise very healthy at this time and a full medical summary can be provided upon request.

Marley is available immediately for rescue pick-up.

These three handsome men were sadly surrendered to the shelter because their owner was moving. They're understandably nervous and confused, shaking nonstop in their kennel, but have been cooperative and tolerant for staff so far.

All three of these guys have dental disease and cataracts, though they appear to be able to see well. Rock also has luxating patellas and Charm has a heart murmur. Full medical summaries can be provided upon request.

No senior should spend their days in a shelter, and these three cuties here are of course no exception. They are available immediately for rescue pick-up.
