“How do you like the new armor?”

The young paladin turned the stone in his hand one more time before putting it back into a leather pouch hanging from his belt. Taking a deep breath, Banny stood up from his desk and pulled on the bottom of his tunic in an attempt to straighten it out. His gaze took in the small room where he'd been staying before settling on the bed and the chestpiece that was laying on it. Banny grabbed the armor along its shoulder and held it up. He smiled and nodded as he looked over the delicate patterns that were engraved on the metal. Then, he hoisted it over his head and began fastening it over his tunic. With the armor settled, he turned towards the door. His shield and mace were resting against the wall next to it, a habit he had picked up from his father. Slinging the shield over his shoulder and hanging the mace from his belt, the paladin took hold of the latch and stepped out of his room.

03/03/2024 Twitter Space Recap (1/2)

Martin & Kyle did a twitter space (with a late appearance of Eva) in the earliest hours of the day on the 3rd, here's a recap of what they talked about then:

-Kyle brings up that he wants to do a charity stream for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund! He says Him, Martin, Coral, and Eva would be there playing Lethal Company. He says he plans to do this "sometime this month".

-Martin describes the 'Walten Dog Saga', saying that first the family got Carlitos, who was Sophie's dog, and everybody loved him, but then one day in 1968, they're playing and then Carlitos gets run over. And it's so tragic that they're like, 'no more dogs!', until one day in 1973 Jack runs into this homeless street dog and brings him home, and names him Jaimito, and they have him for a few months before he bites Edd's arm and "almost gives him rabies", so Jack just gives the dog to Susan, and the one week that she has this dog is like the worst week of her life. He pees everywhere, he tears up her furniture, and after a week of that he just peacefully dies while Susan is out of the house.

-Martin says that aspects of episode 5 are inspired by some of the leaked stuff he's seen from Joker 2. "It's a very fairy-tale, unreliable narrator kind of episode."

-Martin spitballs his "perfect idea for a Walten Files game", a PS1-style game where you work as a Bon's Burger's employee, "in the kitchen at 3am making burgers", fixing up orders to be delivered (by another employee, I'm assuming? He mentions 'a guy with a motorcycle', so I think this is what he means. Like pizza delivery.) He talks about how the supply closet would be on the other side of the restaurant, so whenever you run out of ingredients you'd have to walk all the way over there and back in the dark. He says it'd be really funny if there wasn't even anything supernatural in it.

-Martin talks about how it really bothers him when people say or imply that, because The Walten Files takes place in the time period it does, it would be more accurate or make more sense for his characters to be bigoted. He brings up a specific instance where someone asked him how the other BSI employees would treat Chris. "The point that this person was making is that it would make sense for the team to be racist, and I was like 'No, it doesn't make sense! That shouldn't happen, it shouldn't be a thing!'" He goes on to say... "And then it was shit like, [mockingly] 'Why are Sophie and Jenny a couple if it was the 1980s?' and it's like, gay people existed in the 1980s!"

"It's just like, just because something was the thing back then, doesn't mean the characters should do a very bad and harmful thing, y'know? It's a really stupid mindset, in my opinion."

-Kyle talks about this genuinely really funny Showstoppers Halloween special idea he had a long time ago, where the Showstoppers are really excited for the holiday, but for some reason Bon has never heard of Halloween before, and the other Showstoppers have to explain it to him, telling him about costumes and trick-or-treating and everything. And it culminates with them going up to somebody's doorstep to trick-or-treat, and all the Showstoppers are telling Bon that he should go first since he's the newbie, and when he knocks on the door some lady answers, going "Hello! How are-" and then she looks up in horror. And the shot reverses to show like a full, "hyper-realistic" Scary Animatronic Bon looming over to her, with a Text-To-Speech voice going "Trick.... Or.... Treat."

-Martin talks about his own funny showstoppers idea, where Bon, for some inexplicable reason, has the feeling that he is dying. and he spends the whole episode trying to make amends with people and be nice to his friends, like 'I don't hate you, Banny, I really care about you,' 'Boozoo, you can have Bon's Burgers when I'm gone, because you're my friend and I trust you,' etc. And at the end of the episode you find out he just had a tummy ache, and he was being really dramatic about it.

-After some related banter, Martin jokes that it'd be funny if Jack was at a table eating with the rest of the 'Bunny Smiles family', and out of the blue he goes, like, 'I've got a tummy ache! :(' in a really high-pitched voice. Eva, who had joined the space a while earlier, jokes that his normal voice is just him faking it, and the high-pitched voice is what he actually sounds like.

-They talk about various Godzilla movies for a while, and Martin brings up how he really enjoyed the way Minus One managed to connect the narrative between its human and its monster characters, and how that's something he thinks a lot of other monster movies and horror films fail to do.

"Y'know, it's funny, because when I wrote The Walten Files, I always had the idea that like, there are two parts of the story? Part one, which is like, the human drama, and Edd and Molly, and the crash. And then part two, which has more to do with the animatronics and the place itself. And you have this feeling where there's going to be a moment where those two parts connect and link to each other, and I think that's something you gotta have in, like, horror movies, where- it- you can't just like, make up characters, and just put them in the existing world and have them exist, and then just sit around waiting for the killer to appear, y'know?"

-Eva brings up an incident that's been happening in the Walten Files community on Twitter, where some people have been getting some flack over headcanoning members of The Showstoppers as Black. Martin gets really incensed talked about how much this bothers him, saying "I saw that, it's so fucking stupid. If you- It's just common sense! If you look at someone going 'Hey, I think this character would be Black, I headcanon this character as black,' and you go, like 'I'm not comfortable with that,' what the fuck do you mean? How? That's so weird! And that's what I'm saying, it's like, how does it effect the story in any way that would be negative to you? Like, the only way you would be against that, is if you were like, racist. And it's like, huh? And I think, a lot of people bring up the argument that, 'Ah, but this character is clearly intended to be White,' and it's like, who cares! Who gives a shit? Like, that's not, like a valid argument to go against someone for doing something like that. It would be very different if, for example, someone looked at Chris and went, like, 'What if he was White?', it's very different. The context of that is very different, than just headcanoning a character as Black, y'know? That's completely fine and normal. Why would you be against that, that's so weird."

"I find it even funnier, because, from what it looked like, it was because someone said they headcanon Sha as Black, and it's like, that makes so much sense! I mean, like, I think that if Sha had a human design, she'd definitely not- she wouldn't be white... again, if you're against headcanons like that, you- you're not welcome here."

-"We end this stream saying these few words: Headcanoning characters as people of color is great, supporting Palestine is great, uh, being a Zionist is Bad! Being a racist is bad! And if you like Godzilla: I will give you a kiss on the head. Muah!"

WHAT DID I JUST WATCH???

SPOILERS TWF4 !!!

It was the best thing I could ever experience rn, I'm pretty much ascending. The fact that there was ANIMATION?? ON IT??? Martin is extremely talented I swear to god.

Personally I think a Lot of My questions we're kind of answered. Deffinetly not the "Where the hell is Jack?", No I'm Even more confused about that... I THOUGHT LIKE- FELIX GOT RID OF HIM OR SOMETHING I DIDN'T THINK HE WOULD TELL THEM WHAT HE DID? I honestly thought he would hide it and kill anyone who knew (he didn't need to they're all pretty dead). I honestly felt slightly Bad for him, HE DUG A HOLE FOR HIMSELF 😭. I swear I was SHOCKED- mouth open eyes wide type of stuff, I COULD FEEL HOW AWFUL HE FELT, He reeks of guilt, desesperation and actual negativo emotions, where before I honestly think he only transmited me the smell of alcohol or something; I deffinetly feel Bad for him now.

Okay so aside from the whole Felix thing here's a few things I really enjoyed/noticed:

Felix told Rosemary and Jack what happened which actually throws my "Oh yeah Felix deffinetly sent killer animatronics to kill his Best friend and his family so the business wouldn't crash" theory down the drain. Also Rosemary asking for the doll, I cannot imagine how devastated She would have felt, She does not deserve that.

Alright that was terrifying!! Scary imagery actually got me bit scared at atimes, which is good, the show keeps me on My toes.

WHO THE HELL IS INSIDE OF BON?????? WHO IS THAT...

The fact that: We could actually SEE how he KILLED Susan but ED AND MOLLY HAD TO WATCH TOO 😨

Poor children, god.

The animation actually scared me really Bad, it was so unreal and disturbing in a sense that Made You feel like you'd get jumpscared at any moment, that's what makes this kind of horror amazing.

The whole conversation between "Bon" and Susan/Banny is something You have to watch for yourself.

She was ALIVE in the SUIT, GOD 😭

The fact her 'Wonderland' for has her neck snapped and everything, it looked so disturbing, it was really clear how she got killed.

THE MUSIC WAS CELESTIAL, I PRAISE WHOEVER PLANNED THE SONGS THAT PLAYED BECAUDE EVERY SINGLE ONE MADE IT TEN TIMES BETTER.

His Bimbo and His only.

Yandere Banda, whose bimbo little stupid girlfriend stands by his side in the store. You hold his hand as he gives men who even glance at you a killer stare. He watched you intently, and he knows how to read social ques and peoples reactions. He makes a mental note of everything you look at or say is cute because he will surprise you with it in a few days after you completely forget about it. He loves his little stupid gf. His final breaking point is when he goes to the bathroom, leaving you in your favorite aisle which is closest to the bathroom knowing that it will keep you entertained while he’s gone. Once he leaves a man walks up and starts flirting with you. You’re so stupid talking to the man not even realizing he’s making moves until he asks for your number. Now he’s the dumb one, all you do is reply with “Oh, I’m sorry :( I have a boyfriend but we can definitely be friends!” You are so sweet and stupid :( What you didn’t know is Banda was around the corner walking he stops in his tracks when he hears you talking with the man. He stops at the end of the aisle staring at your back and the man talking to you. The man sees Banda and his not so friendly smile on his face and the man’s smile fades almost immediately. It gives the man goosebumps and he just stares back at Banda, who’s watching him like a hawk. As he smiles his face and his aura are overwhelming the man looks down at you then at Banda.

The man stampers tripping over his words looking at Banda “O-Oh im sorry no-no it’s okay-” The man nearly trips over his own feet trying to get away as Banda walks over. Unfortunately, he didn’t get too far before Banda is by your side taking your hand in his hand. He smiles at you and you smile back kissing his cheek “Bannie! This is my new friend oh uh- I’m sorry I forgot your name haha.” The man looks like he just pissed himself; how could someone so sweet and nice be with such a scary man like Banda. But nevertheless the man stampers “R-Ren.” Banda looks at him and says coldly “Nice to meet you Ren.” You look at your new friend and say “Well have a nice day!” You go on with your day shopping with Banda and going for lunch. Til the next day you are home cuddling with Banda and the news that plays in the background talks about your newest friend’s murder. You frown “Bandie that guy from the store yesterday died.” God you are so dumb. He smiles sweetly humming in your neck. You look down at him and just giggle as he teases your neck completely forgetting about your last sentence.

Adventuring Is Calling

The courtyard of the Stormwind Cathedral was full of noise, as it always is. The splash of water as the fountain sprayed, the strikes of horseshoes upon stone, the cheers of fun as children ran around, they all merged together into a chorus of sound that surrounded the two paladins as they sat on one of the benches. Beside them, a winged lion lay on the ground and lazily kept watch. The adults that came into the square seemed to keep their distance while at the same time the children dared each other to get closer and closer.

“And your studies are going well?” Braghaman asked his son, trying to sound nonchalant as many parents do when catching up with their children.

“Very well. Lieutenant Rignomer actually said I wasn’t as big a let-down as he had expected.”

“Solid praise from the lieutenant.”

“That’s what I think. At first, I thought he was being harder on me because…”

“Because?” Bragh repeated, his eyebrow raising slightly.

“Well, because of who I am. Who you are, really.”

“And now?”

“Maybe he was just being tough on me because that’s what I needed.”

“How so?”

“Well, you know. Son of a paladin. Maybe a bit full of themselves. All of that.”

“So you’re okay with it now.”

“Sure. I’ve seen him do worse to others. But those were the ones who were reckless. Maybe a little dangerous. Those recruits pretty much earned the chewing out that they got.”

“Sure.”

“Anyways, that’s kind of what I wanted to talk to you about.”

“About the lieutenant?” Bragh asked, a confused look on his face.

“Well not him specifically, but about the training.”

“Go on.”

Banagan took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then turned to look at his father.

“I think I’m ready. You know, to go out in the world.”

“You do? No more training needed?” Braghaman’s eyes narrowed slightly.

“Yes. Or no, rather. I mean I think I’ve gotten as much as I can from here. I want to go out into the world. Get my experience there.”

“You mean adventure.”

“Well, sure. That’s what you did right?”

“I did. But what I did was different.”

“How?” Banagan demanded, but quickly realized the error of his eagerness. “I mean, why can’t I do that, too?”

“For one, I had someone to rely on. I had your grandfather and the rest of the Dawn to watch my back.”

“So if I had a group or something, then it’d be okay for me to go.”

“It wouldn’t be the Dawn. Most of us are retired or otherwise occupied.”

“Okay, so not the Shrouded Dawn. I could find a group of paladins here at the Cathedral.”

“Is that what you really want to do?”

“Well, no. Not really.” Banagan leaned back slightly and thought. “What about the Meddlers?”

“The Meddlers?” Bragh repeated, staring at his son.

“Sure! You’ve always said what a great group of people they were. That you trusted them with your back and everything, right?”

“Yes, that’s correct,” Braghaman answered slowly.

“So I could go talk with them. See if they would take me on. Let me go with some of them.”

“You think you’re ready to go adventuring with the Meddlers?”

“Why not? There’s not much more for me to learn here. I really think I need to get out in the world and learn things first hand. You know, like you did.”

“You realize that the Meddlers aren’t exactly the same as the Dawn, right?”

“Of course, father. And that makes it an even better choice.”

Braghaman’s face went stoic at that comment, causing Banagan to stutter briefly.

“I.. I mean..  it’s just that while I could learn with the Shrouded Dawn, we’d just be keeping Duskwood safe, right? But the Meddlers, well they go adventuring all around Azeroth. I just meant I would have more opportunities with them, don’t you think?”

“You know, some of them aren’t as…. reserved… as I am, right? You ready to deal with personalities like that?”

“Well, I have met a few of them already. And I think I’ve seen some people like that here at the Cathedral.”

“You’d have to pull your own weight with them. Don’t expect them to carry you. Wouldn’t be safe for any of you otherwise.”

“Of course. I won’t be a burden.”

“And if they say it’s not working out, then what?”

“Oh..” Banagan paused. “I hadn’t really considered that. Would they do that?”

Braghaman shrugged. “If they do, then what?”

“I guess I’d come home,” Banagan answered, soundly defeated. “But I don’t think that’ll happen.”

“What about your sister?”

“Kori? Well she can come, too, if she wants.”

“Of course.” Braghaman watched his son fidgeting anxiously, though trying very hard to hide it. “So what’s your plan then?”

“Really?” Banny responded enthusiastically. “Well, I guess the first step is that I need you to talk to the Meddlers and then…”

“No.”

“No? But you said I could go with them.”

“I did. But this is your adventure. Your responsibility.”

“Okay?” Banny replied, sounding a bit confused.

“If you want to work with the Meddlers, you need to go and ask them yourself.”

“But I assumed you’d talk to them for me.”

“First mistake,” Bragh said with a smirk. “You want to work with them, you’ll need to go talk with Drogar and Darlain yourself.”

“What do I say?”

“Tell them you’re a Larethian. That you’re a paladin and you want adventure. I suspect that’ll get their attentions.”

Might bring banni to the snow day event if it's at the warm lodge. They struggle with crowds and loud noises and flee at the first sign of conflict, so something really chill would be excellent exposure therapy of sorts. Also everyone deserves to see them

"bon"?

TWF 4 SPOILERS// prepare for some slightly disjointed rambling on twf 4

i keep thinking of how "bon" reveals snippets of things we don't know just yet about him, like what exactly "bon" is or if he's a spirit or not. that is to say; if he's a spirit we know.

"bon" introduces himself to susan as a sort of receptionist or caretaker in Wonderland. He's friendly and explains it to her with what seems like genuine care and concern. his voice has a robotic but almost loving quality. he speaks as if he's narrating a storybook.

this is our first hint that "bon" might have once been something else. if he 'would know' about how a spirit doesn't pass on as fast as the body does- is he referring to himself or someone else? there seems to be nobody else in Wonderland other than Susan, himself & Edd and Molly. of course, we only know what we're shown- but what we're told here seems very important, too. so important that "bon" mentions it again later:

he's sympathising with Susan; sharing to make her feel better about it. he could be lying, but i don't think so. "bon" was scared too. we have a confirmation now that "bon" seems to be talking about himself here. or maybe what he was before Susan came around.

there is a notable absence of Jack here. is he in Wonderland? we don't know. but we know that "bon" has been there for a while.

i find it interesting that "bon" is in quotes at all. he is consistently in canon media reffered to with the quotation marks- as if he is something fake or that the name is a lie. It could be that Bon, the rabbit animatronic, is simply the main Bon we should be concerned about- and "bon" is lesser, as he doesn't have anything else but the ability to control Bon. Or maybe "bon" is simply what Bon actually is- that "bon" is the AI within Bon corrupted and warped by circumstance.

Or that he isn't really "bon" at all. that the difference between "bon" and Bon is much more important than quotes can convey. To get floppy with it and start something of a theory- "bon" is eerilly simmilar to Jack in a disjointed, warped kind of way. The shape of the suit in the fog and his height and vague face shape reads just too close to me. I don't think they're the same 'person' but i think "bon" could be trying to mimic Jack. we see him talk to susan in a friendly, familliar manner- and saying things i think raise flags about what could be going on

he calls Susan his friend, and says he knows things about her

granted, these could all be learned easilly if we imagine that "bon" has been inhabiting Bon the animatronic for a while, watching people around and learning information to be able to put it to use. or maybe he can't help it- a programmed learning algorithm that keeps learning and learning until it learns everything it isn't supposed to.

I've always had the idea that Bon had something of a computer learning algorithm, a fascinating example of Cyberfun Tech's ingenuity being turned into something wrong and predatory.

The facial recognition AI and walkaround AI we see in twf 4 is very clearly a database and learning AI; we see susan and charles talking about how Banny has to pathfind around objects

this seems pretty clear to me that Banny (and therefore all the other animatronics) are supposed to learn how to recognise objects and pathfind around them for the best possible interaction experience. Banny here, fails the test which according to susan just means they'll have to 'test this out again until we get this right'.

The facial recognition can be altered, too. we see Boozoo recognise Edd and Molly, even though he shouldn't have. I think this is an example of the ghost interferance with the AI actually making it fuction when it shouldn't. What im getting at here; is what did Bon learn?

did he learn that violence we see him enact on Susan? If so, from where? did he witness a murder? see someone brutalize someone else and in his programming, think 'how can i improve this and enact it better?' because getting better, more efficient is what every AI programme in the animatronics aims to do.

the segment where Susan is killed by Bon has a title screen:

'the first', referring to the day Susan died being on the day the first birthday party at Bons Burgers happened. I wonder if it could also be refferring to Susan being perhaps 'The First' to have been killed like this, by Bon and "bon".

this is admittedly pushing it a little but we have like 0 information on Jack atm and i'm not confident Bon killed him. or even "bon". the assumption we are led to make from the episode is that "bon" possessed Bon

and was the force behind Bon killing Susan at all. btw bon makes such a cute pose i really am enamoured by Bon in this episode. But if "bon" is the force behind killing Susan, and perhaps any violence Bon enacts at all; what is "bon"??

we know these things:

-he apparently knows what it's like to be scared [of death? of wonderland? of being a spirit?]

-he knows Susan

-he wears a suit

-he possesses Bon

-Edd and Molly are scared[?] of him

If "bon" is a spirit, like we seem to have been hinted at, is he Jack? Him being in Wonderland before Susan obviously means he must have 'died' before her, but Wonderland is simmilar to 'The Lobby' we see on Anthony's Findjackwalten page here, since 'Alice in Wonderland' REPLACED 'The Lobby' on that page.

which we know is a purgatory of sorts, from the other Findjackwalten page /ghosthaunt

So if "bon" CANT be only an AI, but died before susan- what if he's both? What if the ghost is also an AI? Could it be that Jack is not mostly possessing Bon, but is in a strange situation where he's fragmented across objects? Jack is most often depicted on a TV or through analog rather than ever being shown with Bon like any other of the animatronics- like susan or charles whose faces are overlaid directly over their suits.

If Jack is split across multiple outlets for his 'spirit', maybe "bon" is actually able to possess Bon because of Jack's spirit- rather than having his own at all. AI and ghost in a sort of terrible parasitic relationship where the AI can use Jack's spirit to exist in Wonderland and the real world in a way it could not before. Think of it a little like possessing a spirit in a weird way.

With this in mind, i think "bon" seems to fit into his politely sinister persona- not threatening, but goal-oriented. "bon" has learned things from Jack and can better replicate him to further his vague goal of. i suppose 'recruiting' spirits to continue to possess their vessels rather than pass on.
