i've gone through about 8 iterations of my desk setup since i moved to texas back in february, and this is the current version. I'm liking it so far and have now accepted (thanks to Olver Burkeman's Four Thousand Weeks) that my constant re-organizing of my desk is likely due to my avoidance of accepting the limits i'm constrained by as a human being who cannot literally Do Everything™️

Study Tip: Celebrate

Yes, you only took the exam and it could be months before you get your results. 

But that’s still something worth celebrating. You just took a two-day intensive exam. You’re done. You made it. 

Do something nice for yourself.

6 days til the bar and I feel like I’ve suffered some sort of acute brain damage.

I’m making very silly, very expensive clerical errors in my daily life.

I’m a worse person than I was a month ago and I feel genuinely sorry for everyone who has to deal with me.

The only positive (ish) is that I’m so over this exam that I’m not really dreading it so much as I want it behind me as soon as possible.

i won’t stop her cause it’s not a huge deal and i’m easily annoyed right now cause again, bar is next week, and it is for her too, and this is important for her to relax too so like, good

Post Law School Grad Life: What’s Next

I can’t believe it’s already been 3 1/2 weeks since I graduated from law school. Truly I don’t think it was going to hit me until I got grades back to confirm I did indeed graduate and until I get my diploma in the mail. I’m still waiting on the diploma but I did in fact graduate and with the highest GPA I’ve ever had at any point in law school so I’m very proud of myself. But it still hasn’t…

My graduation gift from my dad is set to arrive today and I cannot wait to see her 😍😍😍

My husband and my dad really knocked it out of the park with their gifts. Bar prep is about to be (slightly) easier.

I didn’t take the exam this time around.

I spent the day before with my husband. He was getting an MRI to look for pulmonary embolism.

I spent the day after with my husband. He was seeing a neurologist to seek treatment for his myriad neurological problems from Long Covid.

And I am having an IBD flare. But I didn’t get anywhere near my requested accommodations.

Maybe I can get the time extension by getting a new gynecologist (my gynes keep leaving their practice…)

Here is to hoping.

Study Tip: Rest

Congratulations, you’ve done it. You made it through two long, exhausting, challenging days. You have done all you can do, and there is nothing left but to wait for results.

So, before you go back to your day-to-day life, take a break. Do something nice for yourself. Rest, enjoy a hobby you’ve been putting off, visit with friends. 

The burn-out may take a little while to hit, but it will, and you should be ready. Because if you don’t stop willingly, your body won’t give you a choice.
