It didn’t take me long to make my way back to Sydney Harbour.
On the upper edge are the reflected lights of North Sydney, while the sandstones slabs on the southern foreshore were hewn from the ground of what is now Barangaroo Reserve.
It was fascinating to see Barangaroo have some actual life to it this time after visiting for years and it just being a dull mix of construction and half empty towers.
The passageway to Wynyard Station remains my favourite part of this area, but there is also some interesting architecture and public art appearing!
After walking through Barangaroo north to south, I headed east back towards Town Hall on George Street and a bus home.

Barangaroo’s first husband died from small pox that the settlers bought to Sydney. She later married Bennalong, but did not share his willingness to mix with new arrivals.
She would not eat or drink their food, nor wear their clothes. When she met with the English, she had a bone through her nose and painted herself with white clay - a proud statement of her spirituality and culture.
This part of town is now called Barangaroo, I wonder what she would think.
After taking the light rail up from Haymarket, I went for a wander around The Rocks, a preserved historic part of Sydney's city centre.
From Campbells Cove you get a good view back towards Circular Quay and the skyscrapers behind.
A lot of people find The Rocks too touristy to be enjoyable, and while I agree there is a commercialised touristy core, there's also plenty of streets away from that with a historic charm + great views.
I continued up from the shoreline to Observatory Hill, an underrated viewpoint in Sydney, in my opinion.
The sheer size of the Crown Towers in Barangaroo is evident from here.
With looming rain clouds I made it down to Barangaroo for the next part of my walk.

basically i just watched anyone but you. the silly sydney sweeney movie set in sydney. it was fun. kinda stupid. nothing serious and very reach-y- i could not for the life of me understand why the characters were connected to australia. anyways the first few scenes are set in america but filmed here and it was jarring to me. bc i know my city, as much as i love to pretend i hate it here. i hate it here but i know it. i can recognise it. especially when it gets passed off for america.
and as soon as i saw the opening shot of the movie i was instantly like. uh. fuck. thats wynyard right.
THIS, for reference, is the opening shot of anyone but you. its a little bit crunchy in quality bc copyright blah blah blah. also interesting to note is the little black sign on the right middleground- distinctly sydney to me and anyone living here and that is defs a goof and im ten seconds away from logging it on IMBd.
anyways for funsies i decide to go... um... test my skills. and im like. ava god dammit if you're so sure thats wynyard, prove it. go onto google maps right now and find it.
bam! first go, straight to the location of the opening shot.
