i really hate bringing this kind of stuff up but did you hear about bashur/toastytime? absolutely gutted.

Yes I saw it on Twitter and I'm still in shock tbh.

For those who don't know, Bashurverse passed away from COVID-19 yesterday after a month-long battle. Bashur was someone who made Minecraft videos with Team Crafted members back in the day.

Please get vaccinated and wear masks when outside, everyone. I know some might think this virus is basically over, but it's not. Even if you are vaccinated, you should still be careful. Not just for yourself, but for others.

It’s such an odd thing to see a content creator that you idolized as a kid pass away. I think you sort of put these folks in their own category and view them as a sort of immortal, almost; they’re people you’ve most likely never met, but you feel like you know intricately (even though that’s not the case). Watching them when you’re young especially lends to that, I think, because it’s easier for them to become these distant figures rather than real, actual people. They seem untouchable.

Bashurverse was one of those people for me. He was a involved in a lot of the content I loved - hell, my blog’s name is a reference to a video that starred him - and he was one of the constants I had growing up, something I could expect to always be there and something that would make me happy. It’s really sad to think that he’s gone.

Go get vaccinated if you haven’t already. Wear your masks. Stay safe. I hope he’s resting in peace, and my thoughts are with his family.

Brandon Ashur also known as ToastyTime or Bashurverse sadly passed away from Covid.

Regardless of what you thought of him as a person or his content. At the end of the day he was still human and it hurts to know one of the og's is gone.

I didn't know if I should say anything since it's not my place to and I never really talk about serious shit on here.

But, this needs to be said.

Please people, continue to get vaccinated, continue to wear masks Covid is still a threat to so many people.

I send my deepest condolences to his family and friends during this time. May he forever rest in piece

An Unimportant Rant

You know what YouTube channel really makes me mad?

Drama Alert

For those of you who don’t know, Drama Alert is a series on YouTube where they share personal information, or “drama”, to the public about certain YouTubers, particularly ones who are having rough times. This can also include interviews with said YouTuber.

Why do they piss me off? Because they take private information about YouTubers and blow it COMPLETELY out of proportion. It especially irks me when they manage to paint the YouTuber in the most UNFLATTERING light possible, and makse them seem like the bad guy.

Take Bashurverse, for example. When I first saw him on Aviator’s channel, he seemed like a funny guy, and I really enjoyed his content. Then, the mess with Drama Alert started. He lost subscribers, his friends, his girlfriend. Now, his channel is shut down, and the truth is, he didn’t deserve everything that happened to him. Yes, he made a mistake, but since when has anyone ever been perfect? He was a nice guy that made mistakes that anyone else could make. Keemstar may have apologized, but it still doesn’t make up for the crap that Bashur went through.

Also, there was the Sky/Alesa dilemma. Thanks to Drama Alert, everyone now knows that Sky had to fight over custody of his son with his ex-girlfriend. Whether Sky had given permission to Drama Alert to cover this story or not, I don’t know. What I do know is that this isn’t a topic that Sky wants to be brought up any more, but Drama Alert still pushed the limits.

What I’m trying to say is, these incidents are just the TIP of the iceberg. Drama Alert has let the dirty laundry of a lot of YouTubers’ air out, sometimes without their permission.

The worst part is when Drama Alert screws up the information SO MUCH, that the YouTuber has to put up ANOTHER video in order to straighten the mess out. I don’t know about anyone else, but whether making the video was the YouTuber’s choice or not, it still feels like a “walk of shame” to me. Imagine having someone screw up information about you so bad, and have everyone begin to think so little of you, that you have to come in and sort everything out, leading you to have to relive some personal trauma.

Now, I know Drama Alert is just doing the job that they get paid for, and that some YouTubers have actually done some genuinely bad things, and my opinion, or anyone else’s for that matter, doesn’t excuse the wrong things that they did, but I just feel like that it should be the YouTuber’s job to divulge personal information about themselves, not someone else’s. It also doesn’t help that people will believe everything that they read, or that people are willing to change sides once one person expresses their opinion on something.

This sounds like such a kindergarten lesson, but people like the workers on Drama Alert need to learn that their actions have consequences, and that the things that they say about a YouTuber will follow said YouTuber until the day that they die. Heck, as long as people remember them, they will not only have the reputation that they’ve developed for themselves, but the reputation that Drama Alert gives them.

Everyone’s personal problems are like piles of dynamite, and Drama Alert has a lit match, and they’re looking a good pile to throw it in.

And I don’t think that’s a good thing.

Seems like Calvin doesn’t really care. He’s already pissed about the youtube termination so he’s like whatevs for one’s discretion. He’s trying really hard to get some attention maybe because deep down he’s lonely and frustrated with humanity.
