🧼 how to tackle hygiene problems when small

⊹ as somebody who struggles a lot with hygiene, it's tough for me to do the same when little, but heres my personal list of tips that make it slightly easier for me! (this focuses mostly on bathtime + brushing teeth!)

Bath / Shower time ! 🛁 ⋆ buying bath toys ⋆ bubble baths! ⋆ fun smelling shampoo ⋆ having cute towels ⋆ (if comfortable) have a caregiver join you ⋆ bath bombs! ⋆ Take your other toys / plushies in the bath with you! (make sure the toys are clean beforehand hand / that there safe to be in the water ) ⋆ bath stickers ⋆ bathtime crayons ⋆ scented shampoos / soap to relax you ⋆ If you dont/can't stay in the shower too long, you should just focus mainly on hair, and then clean your body with soap once!

Brushing your teeth! 🪥 ⟡ kid toothbrushes and toothpaste ⟡ ^ flavoured toothpaste ⟡ remembering the tooth fairy will appreciate you brushing your teeth! ⟡ Pokemon Smile - An app that uses Pokemon to help brush your teeth! ⟡ Have your caregiver brush their teeth at the same time ⟡ Diy crafting a mini toothbrush and making your stuffie / toys brush their teeth as well

❥ Rewarding yourself, When I'm done having a bath I reward myself with a dessert or coloring in page! ❥ Heres a rewards chart about bathing and brushing teeth! ❥ If you struggle with starting tasks, break them down into parts. for example- A certain task can take up to 30 minutes, but that's just 10 minutes tripled!!

a concept for comfort

“c’mere, little one.” Dad mumbled, and immediately after I am lifted from under my arms to be hoisted up. An arm under my bottom, and the other around my back. I lay my head on his shoulder with a soft pout, and a soft chuckle paired with the rumble of his chest could be heard. His hand rubs at my back, a hidden smile on his face. “It’s okay, baby. You’re fine.” He murmurs, tone gentle. Always so gentle.

My eyes look around, seeing as we make our way to the bathroom. I’m set down on the sink counter, and a whine is uttered in protest — dad quickly leans down, hushing into my ear and murmuring close to my cheek. “Shh, hey. How about .. we have some toys, hm? Wouldn’t that be fun?” A nod immediately is his answer, and he smiled bigger. “Okay, bud. Wait here for daddy, okay?” A quick kiss to my baby cheeks, and then a giggle coaxed from me. A coo from dad follows, his eyes soft at the sound, yet he quickly tore himself away from my vicinity to grab the needed supplies for bath time. Baby shampoo and conditioner, the tub of toys, some coloured dye’s for the water, and finally it’s all ready, soap already on the tub ledge. Dad bends down, turning the tap on and running the water. His hand constantly at the stream of clear liquid — making sure it never strayed from the proper temperature for his kid. He didn’t want him to freeze or be too hot! No.

Once everything is ready, he walks back to his kid. “Okay, bubbas. Arms up!” Quiet following, as my shirt is lifted off me, then the rest of my clothing too. I take dad’s hand, being helped into the bath. It’s warm, and my eyes get droopy. “Do you want to play now, or after your washy time?” Dad asks, crouching down onto his knees and now sitting beside the tub. I pout in thought. “..after.” I decide. Dad nodded in approval, reaching over to the soap. Dad gently runs a washcloth bubbling from the soap, being careful of skin. So delicate and fragile. Scars and places I hate — things I am learning to love and live with. Things that I’m insecure of. Things I don’t think about. Over my brown spots that dad affectionately names me like a Dalmatian pup. Stretch marks that he says make me like a little gator. Chubbiness that he gives a firm look whenever I would say the slightest negative thing towards. “No, boy.” He would say, scolding. “You are perfect.”

Moving onto hair — he’s just as gentle. Fingers carding carefully through dirty black hair — careful and promising not to get any in my eyes. Giving me one fish bath toy while I sit anxiously. My shoulders relax, able to enjoy the soothing sensation. My scalp rubbed and scratched at affectionately. I smile a little. Washing hair was always the hardest part of a bath sometimes.

Soon, it’s all done. Dad rinses all the soapy suds away, and bath toys fill the water. Giggles and chuckles and squeals and huffs of laughter fill the room and mix with one another. Fish toys and boats swim in the water. Water paints and fidget toys on the walls.

I like bathtime.

YAY BATHTIME

After dumping the final bucket of water into the big metal bathtub, you sink onto the chair next to it and take a moment to catch your breath. You're technically on the back porch, but it's not as exposed as it used to be. Needing extra storage, you and Billy put up boarded walls one weekend, and now this space was where you kept lots of things like the bathtub and the laundry bins.

It was a cozy space. From here, in the still blue dusk, the calming outside sounds are more clear: crickets chirping and birds singing. The trees rustle in the breeze, which has the scent of sun warmed sagebrush still clinging to it. Bitter but familiar.

From the front part of the house, you hear Billy hanging up his hat and belt. He must've just gotten home; perfect timing. Maybe you'd get him to join you, like you'd hoped.

A stool next to the tub is piled with clean clothes for the both of you. A new candle burns on the little shelf right above the tub; its light warm and comforting.

A soft knock alerts you of Billy's presence. Looking up, you find him taking in the scene.

"Everythin' okay, angel?" He looks tired, but his eyes have that worried look reserved for you. He must've thought something was wrong.

You stand and give him a soft smile. "I'm okay. Just needed a break after hauling all the water buckets."

Billy wrapped one arm around your waist and leaned in to press a gentle kiss to your lips. "I'll let ya have your space, just wanted to see ya." He gives you another kiss.

You study the way his curls are more prominent around his ears, forehead and neck; a sign he's sweated a lot and ran his hand through them too much.

"This warm enough for ya?" Billy asked, leaning over to dip two fingers into the water. Immediately, he pulled them back and shot you a look. "You didn't heat the water?"

"Billy, it's been so hot and humid today. I had no desire to stand by the stove." You say lightly, with a little laugh.

He nodded. "I get it. Havin' it cool's gonna feel better. But," He chewed on his bottom lip a little and you wait for what comes next, "I don't want you gettin' sick."

"It's not that cold." You gather a handful and flick it at him.

Billy jumps a little, and like the sun shining after a thunderstorm, lets out a soft, rumbling laugh. You like it when he laughs. He doesn't do it enough.

"I see how it is." He says, with a playful pinch to your side.

"Why don't you join me? It'd be nice." You say with your best pleading look, a measure not needed, really, because he didn't need any convincing to join you. The little glimmer in his eyes shows he was already thinking about it.

"Ah, so we can freeze together?"

You flick him with more water and get another laugh. And that big, dimply smile.

Leaving your clothes in a pile on the floor, Billy gets in first and then you follow, sitting with your back to his chest.

The cool water turns out to be much nicer than either of you anticipated. It was just the right temperature to make you forget about how hot and balmy the day had been. Billy, for his fussing earlier, is now quiet. You begin to wonder if he's fallen asleep with his head against your shoulder, and his lips tracing your skin absentmindedly. His fingers trace little ticklish patterns on your ribs.

"Turn around. I'll wash your hair." You request.

He contorts his large frame around as gracefully as possible, laughing again when his hand slides and he resembles a baby deer on ice.

You lather soap onto your hands until they're sudsy enough and then sink them into Billy's hair. His shoulders immediately slump in relief, tension melting off like the wax on the candle. As you work it into his hair, his eyes fall closed and you think your heart just about explodes.

"Feels nice, angel. Thank you. Bein' so good to me." He murmurs, sounding so sleepy.

You grab a cup, filling it and using it to wash the soap from his hair, relishing in the lavender scent. When you wake up in the morning and smell it on his pillow, you'll remember how happy you are at this moment.

"You're welcome. I love you." You want to say more, but those simple words seem enough.

You carefully cover his eyes with one hand to ensure the soap doesn't get in them. Once you're done, he takes that hand and kisses your palm, once, then twice.

This whole evening so far feels like the first spot of light in a very long time. You lock it away in your memory; hoping to never forget the bliss of quiet, intimate moments like this one. They're what matters the most. They're what Billy is fighting to keep.

bed time routine for when im little ₊˚ʚ 🎀 ₊˚✧ ﾟ.

okay so i dont have a cg so enforcing this will be kind of hard but i'll do my best >_<!!!!! this is all new for me!!!!!

🍎eat a snack if hungry: banana, warm milk, slice of toast, crackers, apple slices and peanut butter, dry cereal, yogurt, pretzels!!! and i'll feed my cats as well. this is also the time to take pain medicine for cramps and stuff if i have them

🎀then i will get all the stuff i need for sleeping and for the bath, like bubble bath, toys, jammies, stuffie, white noise, cup of water, hairbrush, towel, find soap, lotion, and toothbrush/toothpaste

📺then i can watch something like my little pony or watch someone play little big planet levels or mario game levels cause i get sleepy watching the little guy run around

🪀OR i can play for a little bit longer with all my dolls and ponies!!!!

🛁now it's bathtime!! and then i get out and put on lotion, and face lotion, and then i brush my hair

🪥then i have to brush my teeth and floss and put in my retainers and this is the WORST part of them ALL!!!!!!!!! i HATE brushing my teeth!!!!!!

🧸THEEEEN i will put jammies and bedtime clothes on all my dolls and stuffed animals and lay them down in their beds so they sleep good and tell them good night

😟if im really anxious (not uncommon) ill do some grounding or journalling/scribbling and holding stuffies until i feel a little bit better

📖then i read my devotional and a part from the Bible!!!! and i'll read a bedtime story too unless it has too many big words bc then i'l get stuck on trying to sound out the big words . sometimes i watch more tv here but dont tell anyone okay :))))?
