One thing I never figured out in my various fisheries courses I've taken is whether it would be legal for me to just dangle a lure in front of fish I encounter while snorkelling. It SEEMS like it would be illegal, like it would be too easy, but I can't think of any individual aspect that isn't permitted. You can cast towards a fish you can see in the water to target it, and that isn't THAT different. You can fish while in the water, standing in a stream in waders is the norm in fly fishing. But swimming up to a fish and offering it a hook feels weirdly wrong and like it must in some way not be allowed.
This fun size bass measured about 11". I was testing a new pattern this morning and it hammered it. For a small bass it pulled fairly hard and even took me into some weeds. Glad I had a 12lb mono leader. New fly pattern and colors coming to ebay and etsy this week. Size 6 topwater. Casts like a dream with a 5wt rod.
South Bass Island, Ohio; the brick lighthouse and keeper's quarters was built in 1897 and has been inactive since 1962. The active light, at the time, is on the skeletal tower in front of the older building. It has since been replaced by a square steel skeletal tower. Scanned from a print - photo taken in 1999.
