ok heres my dumbass thought: in the BB2018/rotb-verse (knightverse? Better-Bayverse? New Movieverse? Ehhh) Wheeljack is a surname. A Family Name if you will. There are multiple Wheeljacks and only one of them was the Very Wheeljack Looking Wheeljack from the start of Bumblebee 2018. That's why the bots called the Wheeljack from ROTB Wheeljack - they were calling him by his surname. His full name is Pablo Wheeljack.

Like this, she's almost level with his Spark, and a momentary lapse in rationality has him wondering if she can see into it.

With all that she'd inspired in Bumblebee (and it's strange, still, hearing the new name, but Optimus is happy that B-127 is happy), Optimus wouldn't be surprised if this little human possessed some sort of magic. How could she know the turmoil he feels, having left Cybertron behind to seek refuge on Earth? His optics narrowing slightly, Optimus turns away to mask his expression, but only because the kindness reflected in Charlie's eyes inspires something in him.

The desire for vulnerability repulses as much as it tempts him, but Optimus changes the subject for now. "...how long have you been standing there, Charlie Watson?"
