You were tipsy from the wine and your feet hurt from the heels, but you were proud of yourself for finally getting out of the house and being… normal. 

But you weren’t prepared to walk up and see your garage door wide open, Abby and your father lifting heavy boxes from one shelf to the other. You would’ve been taken aback at her ogling if you didn’t already have some inkling that she was attracted to you at the very minimum. She never failed to check up on you, gently talk you out of your anxiety from your classes, compliment you, touch you with such care, whether it be rubbing your back as you cried to her from stress or were pulled into her warm embrace. It made you starry-eyed overtime, and you came to expect it whenever you saw her. 

But you weren’t prepared for her to push you up against the garage door, lift your dress up and move your thong to the side, dropping to her knees and licking into you until you came hard on her tongue after your parents went on their scheduled date night. 

It all happened so quickly, and the sequence of events were still blurry; you were almost convinced that it wasn’t real, but it was, and it felt so good to be touched like that. You recall her walking towards you after your dad rushed upstairs to shower, asking how you were, how you felt, why you were so dolled up. She smelled like daisies, and you almost passed out. 

Next thing you know, you were pressed between her and the door with her tongue down your throat.

Your breathing was still heavy, and your legs were shaking, but you subtly moved away from her touch and sat up, your feet planted on the floor. You saw Abby stand to remove her strap from her hips out the corner of your eye, and a shiver went up your spine when you saw glistening wetness between her legs. You looked down, grabbing your clothes off the floor in a hurry. 

You both redressed in silence, the shuffling of 

“Do you need some help getting home?” You heard Abby offer kindly from in front of you. You straightened out your shirt, cringing at the awkwardness. This was the worst part about your agreement. 

“No.”

Your reply was drier than necessary as you grabbed your phone from the dresser. You heard her sigh. 

“Oh… Alright. I’ll walk you downstairs.” 

Your tone softened at her dejection, and you turned to look at her. “I’m good, Abby. Thank you, though.” 

She smiled, but you noticed the small grimace, “Okay, um… Let me know when you get home?” 

You nodded, walking towards her bedroom door, “Sure.” 

“Goodnight.” 

“Night.” 

And you left, gently shutting the door behind you. You made your way to the front door: you always made sure to avoid the array of pictures of her, her ex-husband, and her babygirl. 

You grabbed your purse and keys from the rack on the wall and vacated through the front door. You shut it and snagged the spare key from under her mat, locking it and wobbling back to your car. 

You could still feel her inside you with every step you took, and it almost made you turn around and climb back into her bed. 

Your home was dark and silent, indicating that your parents were asleep. 

You locked and shut the door behind you, throwing your purse on the couch and hanging up your keys. You pulled your phone out to let Abby know you made it back safely before shutting it off and walking upstairs. 

You grabbed your speaker from your bedroom before heading to the bathroom, turning on the shower until it was boiling, and smoke filled the room. You put on your ocean playlist and stripped, hopping into the shower, and letting the droplets burn your skin. 

You washed yourself, the scent of lavender and the sound of crashing waves surrounding you, relaxing you further as you dove deep in thought. 

Whenever you and Abby had sex, you felt terrible afterwards. For being selfish, for being avoidant, for being an awful, disloyal daughter. 

You made your boundaries very evident to Abby after you first fucked: no sex in your parents' home, you always contact her first, no interacting at your family’s gatherings. None of it. You two practically became strangers outside the bedroom, and she agreed without complaint, telling you that she needed this just as badly as you did. You never asked her why, but you could guess.

Your euphoria always resulted in you feeling embarrassed and full of regret, but whenever you saw her, you couldn’t stop the nasty swirl in your gut that lured you to take from her. To use her however you wished. 

And she allowed it every time you asked. Completely at your disposal whenever you needed her. It made you feel worse. But you couldn’t stop. 

You finished your shower with a gray heart, drying off and shutting your speaker down before padding into your room. 

You grabbed some panties and a t-shirt from your drawer, dressing before climbing into bed. You plugged your phone into the charger and dove face-down into your pillows. You could almost feel Abby’s hand on the back of your neck, holding you down and keeping you still for her as she cried your name out. 

Your eyes flew open at the loud ding that rang through your room. 

You sighed and unlocked it, reading the text from Abby and putting your phone on silent.

WIP Update - 16 Aug 2023

A slightly-below average writing week.   I touched 5 fics (4 WIPs & 1 new work)  for a total of  1900 words.

On Ao3, I posted:

Chapter Three of Finding Something Fresh - Beta!Sub!Bucky and omega!Dom!Steve have their first (non-sexual) scene together.

Chapter One of Seduction and Abduction; Collusion and Retribution - a Stony Pirate AU with Captain!Stephen kidnapping Anthony as an exchange/ransom for his first mate, James.

Both - Both is Good - a domestic fluff WinterPepperony ficlet featuring an inquisitive Morgan Stark.

I have  20 semi-active WIPs  😬 with my  current  deadlines being the Tony Stark This or That, Hot Bucky Summer and Stony AUgust events, which all wrap at the end of August.  

See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Seek & Destroy Collab

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.  

Hot Bucky Summer [BBE_HBS]  (Ends Aug 30) 

Another @buckybarnesevents  event, this time with weekly smexy prompts.  My goal is to complete at least two fics/chapters per month for this challenge and have actually filled/will fill three of the 4 weeks for June and July so far.  

Week Eleven -  “Give me a color” + Green/Red/Yellow – Posted Chapter Three  of   Finding Something Fresh last Friday - with  Beta!Sub!Bucky   and omega!Dom!Steve working on pre-scene negotiations.  It crossed over with SVB Comforting Insecurity and came in at 1216 words.

Week Twelve - “Who’s My ___”+ Good Boy -   I think this will work well with Chapter 5 of Technicalities, which goes back to Steve POV. This would post 8/23 - and with only 237 words so far, I need to get a move on this!

Week Thirteen -  FREE WEEK - another previous prompt use - Week Nine’s “How do you want me?” + Tied Down  crossing over with ACB Alexander Pierce and CABB Licking Lips squares for Chapter Four of Finding Something Fresh. This chapter will post 8/25 and is drafted at 1116 words.

Tony Stark This or That [TSTOT_23] (Ends 31 Aug)

Excited to see this event (hosted by @tstot ) come back!  When you sign up, you get a card with 10  prompts  in pairs  - so to complete the card, you create five fanworks.   I have four prompts posted and one WIP

* 1a - Love Letters  brainstormed with  @somesortofitalianroast and  Meg during the  @buckybarnesbingo  Discord party and will be combining this with my BBB  Fireplace prompt for a  1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic where they discover that someone’s writing them both the same love letters.   Started poking at this and have 129 words towards a minimum 600 due by the end of the month. Week 3 - No Powers - working on an established Stony fic that crosses over with my SAUB AU: Cruise Ship, TSB Retirement and CABB Anniversary Date squares. I'm 763 words in to Set A Course for Adventure and they're just now getting to the ship. 😁 Hoping to wrap this up somewhere between 1-1.2k as a one shot with a potential Stuckony sequel at some point.

All Caps Bingo [ACB_R1]  (Ends 30 Sep)

I’ve got seventeen completed fics, four WIPs and  will be pursuing the One Fill, One Bingo  Challenge for Row 5.   “Man, shut the hell up!”, Alpha Bucky Barnes, James Rhodes, Humping, Competitive Idiocy

* N2 - Sex Toys - Filling this with the upcoming Chapter Five of Finding Something Fresh - Beta!Sub!Bucky and Omega!Dom!Steve enjoy their first sexual scene together.

* G1 - Isaiah Bradley -  Planning to add more to The Fist, Defeated.  (possibly present day)

* G2 - Nesting - This works with the upcoming Chapter 5 of Sugar-Coated Pill where Bucky and Tony finally get together. I’m combining it with my TSB “Are you there yet?” and WIB Blowjob squares. It’s sitting at 1229 words and is slated to post on Friday the 18th.

* G3 - Established Relationship - planning to fill this with Chapter 2 of   Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole   - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at  52 words.  I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix.  

* O3 - Pararescue Sam Wilson - Wrote a remix of  Falling For You from Sam’s POV as a crossover with @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt: [#FFF212 Gotta Go Fast]. Braking Their Fall came in at 607 words and will post to Ao3 before this event is over.

* O4 - AU: Domestic - filled this with Both - Both is Good. This crossed over with my WinterIron Pride Prompt Party Day 20: Both Are Good prompt - with Morgan asking her daddy if he loves Uncle Bucky like he does Mommy. It came in at 443 words and posted this morning.

Sam Wilson Bingo [SWB_R3]  (Ends 15 Oct 2023)

I have five fills and one WIP -  I need to work on cross fills between this and the All Caps, Bucky Barnes and Captain Bottom bingo!

* N1 - Bucharest –  I think I can fold this into a future chapter of My Love is Vengeance -  where a young!Tony and a recovering!Bucky have been kidnapped by Hydra, who still thinks Bucky is the Soldier.  

* G2 - Eye contact during sex - This will come into play in Chapter 6 of A Sugar-Coated Pill, where Bucky figures out what making love really means, with Tony’s help. It’s crossing over with BBB KINK: Gentle Sex and is up to 312 words.

* G4 - AU: College Students – looking to expand Beaten to the Punch with some backstory on Bucky and Tony as science camp counselors to fit with this square - will also cross over with my WFB  Volunteering Together square.

Another busy week, but some good progress - I touched 4  fics (2 WIP & 2 new works)  for a total of  2089 words.

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing   Morguna and the Green Queen, I  got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked  Faustie into   collab’ing with me!  We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve  contributed about 900 words towards the  2500-ish we have so far.   Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.

Halloween Horror Bingo - [HHB_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

Just signed up for this event, hosted by @halloweenhorrorbingo. After picking three horror films, you get a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) with prompts based on those films.  Gonna see what I can squeeze in over this last week!  

* B1 - Dealing with Extreme Cold  - seems like a good match with my BBB Cold   and or SVB Last Resort  square along with Whumptober: Thermometer  & Fictober "It's not too late, let's go."

* B2 - Getting Blood Samples  -  this could squish into  the  Werewolf!Tony fic I’m working on, featuring  Howard Stark’s A+ parenting  (and found family).  Currently sitting at  741 words 

* B3 - Dealing with an Extraterrestrial   – I might whip up a drabble with the Avengers  interacting with Rocket and/or Groot.

I’m lumping these three prompt challenges together as I plan on mixing and matching with a goal of using at least four prompts from each list by the end of the month for a total of 12 prompts.  I’m still  behind at only seven  used so far, but will try to get one or two more done before the end of the month!

* Fictober Day 12: "I'm not saying I didn't like it."  Posted  a short Chapter 2  for   Caught By the Rain and Blinded by the Lightning  last Thursday as a crossover with my  TSB Pairing: Tony/Thor square; it came in at  567 words.

* Whumptober Day 15: Makeshift Bandages | Suppressed Suffering  –  see HHB  There’s something under the bed  above. 

* Fictober Day 20:  “This better be good”  and  Flufftober Day 20:   Combined these prompts with my  TSB  Holiday Fic and  WIB   Pumpkin Oct Adoptable squares and the Flash Fiction Friday prompt  By Candlelight  and  wrote     Carving Out Time Together  -  a bit of  pre-slash Tony & Bucky spending time together  making jack-o-lanterns.   It came in at 870 words and I plan to post this to Ao3 on Friday.   

* Fictober Day 23:   "No, you won't understand, ever." Tweaked the prompt a bit and combined it with my  WIB Unreliable Narrator  and BBB Never the Fall that Kills You squares for  Cutting the Strings  - where Tony intervenes a bit to help recovering!Bucky get some breathing room from Steve.  It came in at  740 words and will post on  Ao3  sometime before the bingos finish.

Well according to Rico, anyone is a viable partner if they can sneak 10 doobies to a club.

Egbert is always willing to strike up a conversation. However he's not so great at striking up a conversation nor can he keep it going. (he gets too riled up talking about how big brother's watching everyone :( )

Raymond for the most part is very reserved. However, if he's alone he'll get super gushy about the people he cares about.

Ginya gets up at the crack of dawn, watches an episode of a very old mystery show that plays on those old tv channels, gets dressed, curls her hair, puts on makeup, and sets off but not before ordering a sip of hot oil at the nearby coffee shop.

Sheila would definitely consider herself a hero since she's trying to save animals from extinction.

Cyndy will absolutely go on a rage rambling about the current youth (though later on she learns to accept that not everything is going to be the same).

Since Liam is like that stereotypical 50's naive lil chap, he probably thinks that love is just a sweet little thing that involves going on dates with an occasional kiss or too. He's never really put much thought into it.

74. What’s their guilty pleasure?

Lyall loves building lego (or well the in-universe version of lego) sets. Given the time, he'll make some of the most intricate and massive ships, buildings and even cities at an ungodly speed.

77. What’s their music taste like?

Vio would definitely be into alt/indie music. (her favorite band would be arcade fire for sure).

94. What does their room look like?

Oh lord. Marv's room would have a large california kind sized bed with a white canopy draped over it. Rocks and many pieces of art line the walls, a large glass door with a thin ornate linin drape covering it which leads to a balcony along with 2 tall glass windows on each side, crystals and other gems line the windowsills. last but not least there is a glass top computer desk with a few monitors and is scattered with papers and lil knick-knacks.

10 Things To Consider When Choosing Pool Builders

Pools are a major investment that require significant skill to build and complete properly, from backyards to Olympic-sized recreational centres. When it comes to installing a pool, you want to work with a pool builder who is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and well-recommended. Most importantly, you want someone who will complete the project without going out of business in the process!

Are you worried about hiring the right swimming pool contractor? Here are ten red flags that you're dealing with an inexperienced or bankrupt pool builder.

1) Huge Down Payment

Before beginning work on most projects, the builder should not require a down payment of more than 10%. Some reputable companies may require as much as 20%, but the average is around 10%. If they demand a much larger upfront payment, this could indicate a cash flow problem and a struggling business. High down payments could mean the contractor doesn't have enough cash on hand to pay employees and subcontractors.

2) Big Up-Front Draws

The amount you pay pool builders during construction should correspond to the project's timeline. You should expect the pool to be halfway finished if you have paid half of the pool's cost. Consider a pool builder who requests a 40% deposit when they dig and another 40% when they pour concrete. This would entail you paying 80% of the cost when they have completed far less than 80% of the work. You will lose a significant amount of money if this business fails before it is completed.

3) Tiny Final Draw

Another red flag is insufficient payment at the end of the project. Pool contractors should be compensated for completing the project. A final payment of 2-5 percent means that if you and they have a disagreement or some other setback, they won't lose much money if they don't finish the job. Look for contractors who will accept a final draw of at least 10%. Some of Viking Capital's lenders even require a 25-30% hold-back, which protects property owners.

4) Quick Contract Signing

If the pool builder insists on signing the contract during your first meeting, be wary. This does not always imply that the builder is a risky choice, so don't let it become a deal-breaker. It is, however, something to be aware of; you do not want to work with a builder who puts you under undue stress.

5) Unreliable and Discourteous Behavior

Everyone is late at times or has personal emergencies. It's bad business, however, if a contractor never seems to arrive on time for appointments or consistently misses sales calls without giving notice. Building a pool can take weeks or even months, so find a dependable company with whom you can work for that amount of time.

6) New on the Scene

Being a new pool builder isn't necessarily a bad thing; after all, every company has to start somewhere. Many pool companies, on the other hand, fail within the first few years of operation. If possible, choose a company that has been in business for at least 5 years to reduce your financial risk. If the only disadvantage is that they are new, don't dismiss them right away. Just keep in mind that being in business for ten years is not the same as being in THE BUSINESS for ten years. Many contractors who go under reappear under a new name and claim to have been in the pool business for longer than the current company. If they went out of business once, it's very likely they'll go out of business again. Being an excellent pool builder and a successful business owner are not always mutually exclusive.

7) Unresolved Complaints

Check any online reviews and, if applicable, the local BBB (Better Business Bureau) rating before hiring a pool company. It's possible that seeing one or two negative reviews is sufficient. Check any responses to customer complaints, and keep an eye out for any unresolved issues or disagreements. You may want to look for another swimming pool contractor if you notice a lot of negative reviews or a lack of resolution to customer issues. Remember that a few complaints about a company that builds 200 pools per year is not the same as the same number of negative reviews for a company that builds 20 pools per year.

8) Pool Builders That Can Start Right Away

Although having a pool contractor who can start a project right away sounds convenient, don't get too excited just yet. The best builders not only have a long list of satisfied customers, but also a full schedule. A lack of ongoing projects indicates the ability to start working for you right away. Alternatively, they may be overburdening their schedule because they are cash-strapped. Both of these should serve as a warning that you should proceed with caution. In many cases, it simply means that the builder has the personnel in place to deal with the seasonality of his business and that projects are properly managed. An unusually low price combined with the ability to begin right away is the worst combination.

9) Lack of References

A list of past clients who have agreed to be contacted for a recommendation should be available from the pool contractor. If the clients are major celebrities, some pool companies may refuse to provide names of previous clients, but this is a rare occurrence. A lack of references could indicate a new company, but if they can't give you the names of any satisfied customers and can't explain why, that's a red flag.

10) Poor Communication

It's natural to have a lot of questions when choosing a pool installer. Take advantage of this opportunity to assess the contractor not only on his or her responses to your questions, but also on how he or she responds. Consider finding a different pool builder if the pool builder fails to answer your questions satisfactorily and does not make an effort to alleviate your concerns, or if the pool builder speaks to you rudely, impatiently, or otherwise unprofessionally.
