Making a Deal.

Okay, so I'm attempting a story involving Pennywise and my oc, who is also an alien just a different species from him. (There won't be smut, BC I'm sure I'd suck at writing that) but depending on the feedback I plan to add a couple more chapters. This is sorta a slow build with eventual fluff between the two. This is my first time writing Pennywise so I hope it turns out alright...

The loud screeching of tires filled her ears as she ran as fast as her legs would allow her to go in her current form. She spotted an opening under the rusted fence that bordered the road and swerved, sliding through it. She let out a slight whine as part of the sharp barbed wire cut into her right shoulder, but quickly continued deeper into the woods. She could hear the doors of a car shutting and voices yelling behind her as she clutched a canvas grocery bag between her jaws tightly. Her lungs burned for more air and her heart felt as though it was about to give out it was beating so fast, but she couldn’t stop running yet. Her paws splashed along the weak stream of water that lead to the entrance of a few of the towns storm drains, she froze for a moment, her ears listening for even the slightest sound of a stick snapping under foot. Met with silence she dropped the bag and lapped up a few gulps of water.

“It ran toward the drains, c’mon before we lose it!!” a loud voice screamed from only a couple yards behind her. With in a second she had collected the bag and sprinted further down the stream. Every slippery step made her curse this form more, as she struggled to grip the slime covered rocks with her claws. Reaching the first of three drain openings, she ducked inside and disappeared into the dark tunnel. Dropping the now soaked bag on the damp drain floor, she very quietly crept back to where she had entered and watched the four figures that had been chasing her. They all appeared to be young, around seventeen, and very pissed at the fact they had lost sight of her. “fucking coyotes.. We’ll never find it now, let’s go, it’s bound to show up again in town.” One snapped as they headed back up to the road.

Sighing with relief she went back to what had caused the whole situation. Shoving her snout in the bag she breathed in deep the smell of the rack of beef ribs wrapped in paper. Her stomach growled with aching hunger, and she was all but foaming at the mouth for a taste. Looking around at the murky grey water that trickled along the drain she growled and scooped the bag up once again in her teeth and continued further into the blackness.

Finding a decently dry spot to eat and rest was proving to be almost impossible. Her muscles burned and she was exhausted, but she kept going deeper and deeper, following the twists of the pipe. Regret hit her again with the intense mix of scents she was experiencing. Stench of mold, decay, and hints of human smells flooded her sensitive nose as she neared the end of pipe that lead to a vast chamber. Pausing before stepping out completely and placing her bag on the semi dry floor, she cautiously sniffed the stale air.

It was difficult to pick apart each smell, but it reeked of human the most. Each slow step brought her closer to a huge pile of stacked various objects. The human scent the strongest around it, but now she also got hints of fear and she froze as her eyes climbed to the top of the monstrous collection. Floating around she saw many human bodies slowly moving around it. Her animal instincts pushing in the back of her mind telling her she shouldn’t be here, that danger was coming. The adrenaline starting to pump through her body again as she scampered back for her bag of food. Halfway across her ears pricked when she heard loud slashing coming from one of the pipes. Ducking behind a few busted bikes, she flattened herself to the floor and eyed the opening, watching.

A tall figure emerged from the shadows, each step echoed off the walls. It suddenly stopped and looked around, walking a few more feet into the little light that came from above. It Bent down and examined her abandoned bag with great intrest, before dropping it and glancing around. “oh my, oh my… it seems something else has chosen these sewers to dine in..” It sounded human and what she could tell from the light, resembled a clown of sorts, with pale make-up, orange hair, and a costume with bells. It slinked about with little sound, it’s now yellow eyes scanning for any movement. “come out come out… I know you’re still here…. I can SMELL YOU..” A quick glance to him then back to the bag gave her the motive she needed to move. Darting out she barely made it four feet before colliding with what felt like a wall. Blinking she found herself against the stone wall, pain radiating across her side. “My.. My.. What’s this? A little lost creature wondered down here?” He taunted. Curling her lips and revealing her long sharp canines she let out a low growl. “tsk tsk.. Those are nice, but let me show you mine..” The clown growled back flashing her his own mouthful of jagged razor like teeth. Drawing back to lunge at him, she was snatched by the neck and held up by her throat as he twisted his mouth to a fanged smile. “look at you.. Pathetic excuse for a predator..” She continued to snarl and snap, but her head throbbed with pain from how hard of a grip was on her neck constricting her air.

Pulling her to mere inches from his face he opened his mouth to speak but stopped and instead took in a deep breath. The beast in his hand has stopped growling and instead just looked at him, eyes wide but he smelt no fear. Sniffing the air again he released his grip and she fell to the ground. “You aren’t a beast.. There’s something… something else I smell on you.. Different from anything I’ve encountered before on this planet..” he said as he watched the coyote cough and gag while trying to catch it’s breath. She shot him a look before the sound of cracking bones filled the room. Slowly the fur went away and in place of the soggy animal was a human woman with messy dark hair and a long slender built frame, still clutching at her throat. The clown seemed confused and intrigued by what had happened. “What are you exactly?” he asked as he croutched to eye level with her.

“No… not a beast nor a human, I’m something similar to you. I can smell you aren’t human either, so why don’t you explain too?” her voice was soft but scratchy either from non use or being strangled. “You came into my home, and I asked first, so explain while I’m giving you the chance.” The seriousness of his voice left no room for a debate. “I’m from beyond this planet, got here long before the inhabitants now. To clear it up I was being chased and by accident I found this… uh lovely.. Place..” She explained dryly. His glowing eyes stayed fixed on her, as he processed what was said, had he not seen it happen he’d have killed her without a second thought. “Well? What about you? I could tell you weren’t human the instant you tried choking me.” She asked while combing her fingers through her long dirty strands. “I happen to be an eldritch being, and I’ve been here much longer then any other. I’m curious as to why you still fought against me even though you claimed to know I was something else.” The glint of wonder obvious in his bright eyes. “when I’m in full animal form, the instincts can kick in, and it takes a few minutes to bring them down.” She replied with a small shrug. The clown tapped his gloved index finger on his drool covered chin, thinking as he stared at her.

A chilling smile played it’s way across his painted lips and he quickly hopped up with excitement. “I’ve got an offer for you, in exchange for living here and me not killing you, why not stay here with me for awhile? I’m only awake for a year then I sleep for twenty-seven. So after the year if you wish you can leave.” She looked around the cold dark room then back up to him. “and if I decline? I die? What’s stopping me from just leaving now? Besides sewers aren’t my ideal home, I’ve lived in some dark ones but I’ll pass on this one.” She watched his smile break into a frown as he huffed and lowered himself back to her level. “you need protection, food, and a place to stay…. I can give you all that, and in return all I need from you is the occasional help luring my.. Prey.. To me. So do we have a deal?” She rubbed her temple, before nodding. “fine, but I need at least a dry place to eat my food and sleep.” The smile returned to his face as he stood and extended her his large hand. “well then I’m Pennywise, Pennywise the dancing clown.. And your name is… ?” Reaching up she accepted his gesture and stood, revealing her height to be taller then Pennywise had expected. “I’m Ari.. So.. Pennywise, I’m starving and freezing, is there any dry place in here?” He spun around rather dramatically and started walking away. “Follow me and I’ll show you, but you may want to put clothes on because there maybe a few humans around.” When she didn’t respond and he heard the cracking sounds again he looked back to find a large black coated dog trailing behind him with the canvas bag hanging from it’s mouth.

Making his way into the worn down house connected to the beginning sewer maze, he waited for her to enter before walking over to a beat up mattress laying on the floor. “No one comes in here so this will be your best bet, and if they do you now know it’s the quickest to the drains to escape or attack them.” His eyes now a shade of blue as he told this to the dog. She jumped on the mattress and started ripping apart the paper covering the ribs, drooling as she reached the raw flesh. “I have hunting to do, so I’ll be back later.” He said before he vanished back down into the pitch blackness. Licking her chops she turned her attention to the ribs, and finally started to devour them.

Ari awoke to the feeling of eyes on her, and as she sat up she found Pennywise watching her from the corner of the room. “sleep well pet?” a cheerful tone present in his voice. “I see you found some clothes as well.” Ari yawned and stretched before answering him. “first off.. NOT YOUR PET.. And yea they were upstairs. So do you need my help today, or am I good to go off with out you hunting me down?” He walked over to the window then looked back to her, “I’m fine for today, but can I ask you some more questions? I’ve never encountered another with shifting abilities.” He giggled a little when she nodded. “so can you shift into anything? Are there more of you?? Do you only eat certain types of things?” he spouted off while taking a seat in front of her on the mattress. “oh man.. Okay, I can shift into any animal on this planet or previously on this planet. I can also make any part of my body into any thing animal like and still keep the rest in human form. This is my human form, the only one I have, I haven’t changed much about it since forming it.. There were lots of us but over time we’ve dissipated to only a few. And my full name is Nofre -ari, it’s Egyptian for the good companion. We all had a great influence on that culture, with all the half animal half human gods they worshiped. Many of my kind took on those roles while others of us, like myself, preferred to stay in full animal forms and help by protection or guidence. I mostly stayed as a Pharaoh dog in those days. Our Kind really isn’t into aggression unless needed or injured, humans are much too hostile, hence my choice to stay in animal forms over humans. As for eating I stick to wildlife or human food.” She said playing with the hem on her shirt.

His blank stare and lack of movement or speech made her question if he’d heard everything she told him, but then he swallowed and tilted his head a little, seeming to return to the current conversation. “Are you immortal?” She eyed him suspiciously after he broke the quiet with one more question. “I can be injured to the point of almost death in any form, but only killed in my original form, so yes in every other form but I can be killed when I fully show what I am.” His smile returned and his blue eyes got brighter at her response. “what does that look like? Show me! Show me! Show me! I can show you mine if that seems more fair?” his bells jingled as he twitched with more excitement. Glaring at him she crossed her arms, “oh no, I’m not showing you.. You’ve seen plenty and I didn’t make it living on this planet this long by chance clown.” He let out a loud groan and stuck out his bottom lip in a pout. This is going to be one interesting year… for the both of us... She thought to herself as she watched the clown grumble and head out of the room.

Faaaaaantasy au?

my fantasy au is that shay comes bursting in in the last few minutes of 5x10, kicks a whole lot of ass, swoops both delphine and Cosima into her arms, and runs off into the sunset.  could possibly involve a horse?  (p.s. if someone wants to photoshop/draw shay like rambo i would forever love you and appreciate you).

but, uh… that’s not what you meant at all, so…

- shay is a knight (bc i’m gay).  Muscles.  Swords.  A+.

- cosima works in the castle.  She’s a half human half druid studying alchemy.  

- delphine is an elf and her dad is some kind of royal ambassador of some kind.

- there’s some kind of huge festival event a few kingdoms over and everybody who’s anybody is going to be there.  obviously the three of them want to go.  shay is looking for business connections.  cosima is looking for more books and materials.  delphine is looking to like… do something other than her father’s paperwork.  so delphine persuades her dad to let her go.  the condition is that she has to take people with her to protect her.  enter shay and cosima, her friends who can also protect her.

- shay and cosima love delphine, they really do.  but they don’t think that she can handle leaving the castle.  so they’re really hover-y and over protective.  that is, until they encounter some bandits in the woods.  shay is ready to fight, cosima has some magic stuff ready to throw, but delphine steps forward and is some kind of political/negotiation genius.  they end up getting away with all of their belongings and a promise that they would spread the word to leave their party alone.  they’d never expected that from delphine, mostly because they’ve only ever seen her bat her eyes at her dad to get what she wants, and shay says as much.  delphine says, “that’s all it takes to get my father to do what i want… what do you think i do all day in meetings?  just look pretty?”

- after that, it’s pretty smooth travels until they reach the festival.  shay is making a crap ton of connections, already booked solid for the next few years doing security.  cosima gets several books full of magic she’d never even heard of and enough supplies to experiment with them until the next festival.  delphine trades off tagging along with each of them, helping with negotiations or just observing.  she meets some hot young prince who is smitten both with her and her skills and somehow becomes the only person from her kingdom he will speak with on official terms.

- shay escorts cosima around a lot.  some of the materials she wants to get you can’t purchase from reputable, above the law type people.  they only really ever knew each other as a friend of delphine’s and they bond a lot on this trip… they bond enough that delphine comes back from a meeting to find them making out half naked in their tent.

- she awkwardly ducks out and runs down to the creek nearby.  delphine doesn’t quite know what to feel.  she’d never known that either of them were gay.  she didn’t know they liked each other that way.  she doesn’t know why them being gay together made her upset.  it’s not like she’s homophobic.  she’s been fighting for marriage equality for a better part of her career.  she quickly finds out that she’s no good at skipping stones and is just chucking them into the water to make a big splash.

- shay and cosima don’t know what to make of it.  They get dressed and debate in the tent for a few minutes.  cosima wants to go find her and talk about it.  shay says, ‘she’s seen my boobs, i don’t think i can look her in the eye right now.’  cosima says, ‘she’s seen boobs every day of her life, i don’t think that’s what the problem is.’

- cosima finds her by the creek.  they talk for a long time.  delphine figures that it was just because she only has two friends and the thought that she was going to get squished out of the relationship was what made her upset.

- the festival continues and ends.  they go back about their lives.  delphine is now on the road constantly.  shay is off protecting people.  cosima never leaves her basement.  they all miss each other terribly.  (the hot young prince makes shay and cosima jealous and delphine uncomfortable).  so when they get together to hang out it feels really nice.  they have a little too much to drink and end up all three of them sleeping together.  whoops.

- delphine has a gay crisis the next morning, pacing and wrapped in a sheet.  cosima talks her down with a ‘you enjoyed yourself, right?  well then you’re not straight.’  delphine contemplates for a second and shrugs.  she flops back down in the bed.  shay is bewildered that that’s all it took.

- and they live happily ever after.

the sight of my new sword sends a thrill into my heart tbh

if i ever replay this game, which tbh idk if i will, it's so Big, SS was only a third or a quarter of this size and i've only beaten it twice, im going to get it as soon as possible next time

anyway im back at the tower i suppose i'll crawl down and check out the enemies properly

i dont like gliding to towers i've discovered bc it feels like i've been plopped down into the middle of nowhere with no context

vs if i walk to them i know "where" i came from/am, if that makes any sense

(it doesn't)

i can see that flying thing closer than ever from here and it's DEFINITELY a divine beast no doubts left

yk tho. i dont WANNA check out the enemies. i wanna find that weird blanked out place at the top of my map!

i'm so anxious to get to the end of the game and uncover the plot im gonna be like "FUCK EXPLORING" for the rest of it and only go to the places i need, now that i've got this map

i can always do more thorough exploration after, i've been spoiled that there's postgame content, but even if there's not like any other zelda game it'd put me right back before the final battle

god im having to go ALL THE WAY AROUND the lost woods i can't even glide over the nearby river to make the path shorter i bet there's an easier way to do this from the other side but i havent been there yet

aww, i don't see beedle here...i was sure he'd be at everyone, i don't think i've encountered one where he isn't yet...

i'll be honest, i've grown kind of bored of combat

and know i'm biased but i genuinely i don't think it's me, i think it's the game's difficulty/"difficulty"

i used to see monster camps and think STRATEGY, is there a beehive, barrels to blow up, a place i can glide down from, this is so fun!

which gradually morphed into "okay this is gonna be a bit of a long haul but there'll be Treasure and sniping from afar is still fun"

idk if the black bokoblins/moblins/etc show up after you've done more things or bc of the area you're in but i'm noticing more enemies with more health, higher defense, and higher attack, and the barrels/metal boxes/beehives/etc becoming rarer, and when they do appear, being almost pointless to use because you're more likely to blow yourself up than do any real damage to the mobs

and like i love this game. it absolutely deserves every bit of its raid reviews, and this feeling COULD just be because i've been marathoning it for 12 straight days and i'm anxious to see the end and get back to my life

but to me, attacking a flat area full of black moblins and bokoblins isn't fun even with the stealth/snipe element bc you can't take them out in 1-3 shots, you have to stop and slash at them, and that alerts EVERYONE else, and it's just pointless

(lol i found some flat ruins by the stable which triggered this rant)

like, even the yiga clan hideout - my instinct was to snipe the enemies as i went, which would have made it a bit more fun imo, even though the stealth bit wasn't bad and i enjoyed that section quite a lot

i just don't like the—idk a better term for it unfortunately—"fake difficulty" thing where you just have to slog your way thru 1000s of random battles, i don't like it in rpgs either

kind of like almost wherever i explored at first i would run into minibosses rarely and then almost constantly

which, yeah, most of them aren't as hard now, But Still, it's the point of the thing

maybe i'm a bit defensive about "real gamer" bullshit and "women can't game" stereotypes while being super bad at games my whole life while my brother was fantastic at them

but like i just don't find that fun?? sure a good challenge once in awhile like eventide isle would be fine (even tho that was hellish and i'll never do it again) but that should be. every once in awhile, not. EVERYWHERE

anyway

frankly @ this point i'm REALY tempted to speed thru it before my surgery

bc i would hate to be laid up in bed and still have to worry about mobile browsing bc botw spoilers and tumblr's interface being awful

anyway i can;'t travel further in this direction without getting over near rito/hyrule field territory

and not only are those towers further away than i'd like but i wanted to do gerudo highlands first so back to the desert i go i guess rip

oh my god the wastelands tower goes down into NOTHINGNESS you're SUPPOSED to apporach from above

oh i LOVE these cliffside structures i've been looking forward to them for so long

yeah, this game is definitely still as full of fun secrets and as deslightful as when i first began playing it

and it came at a good time bc i just lost angela and it helped me feel Real Joy again

most displeasure i find with it now is because "AAAH ZELDA AT SOME POINT I NEED TO GET BACK TO MY FUCKING LIFE"

i'm so worried about spoilers and being behind now that some of the fun is draining away

i think after a bit of time has passed i'll either go back and finish exploring properly or straight up start a new file

and do it Thoroughly

when i can relax and go at my own pace instead of feeling like i'm racing the internet, my dashboard, my friends, my brother, etc

this region is soooo cold and i am so certain i'll get better cold gear in the rito area that im just activating the shrines and not even going inside to use my little food as efficiently as possible

As we continue to battle on in prayer regarding the difficult days that we live in – especially in relation to the issues with Gaza, please continue to be vigilant in your prayers, seeking the LORD God over all the troubles of His people Israel. Last weekend, starting on Shabbat, was the 9th of Av. On this day in history many tragedies have struck the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. Many fast during this day and some read the book of Lamentations as well.  Within the Messianic community in Israel they pray for many Jews to have an encounter with their Living Messiah. And as this day recalls the destruction of the first and second temples in Jerusalem, they also pray for many to be added to the “third temple” that God is building in His city today – the Living Temple made out of living stones – the Body of Messiah.

History tells us that the First Temple was destroyed on the 9th of Av (423 BC).  Then, in 70 AD, the Romans destroyed the Second Temple on the same day as the first – thus fulfilling a prophetic word by Yeshua (Jesus) in Matthew 24:1-8.    Following this, under the leadership of Simon bar Kokhba, the Jewish people rebelled against Roman rule but were brutally butchered. The date of course being - the 9th of Av!

There are so many other ‘coincidences’ regarding this date, such as the Jews were expelled from England in 1290 on the 9th of Av.  World War II and the Holocaust, historians state, was actually the long drawn-out conclusion of World War I that began in 1914. And yes, amazingly enough, Germany declared war on Russia, effectively catapulting the First World War into motion on the 9th of Av, and one final event - according to many sources - the first Gas Chambers in the Holocaust were lit on Tisha b'Av (9th of Av). If all these dates are actually true, then it’s certainly a strange series of events. 

On 9th of Av lights in the synagogue are dimmed, candles are lit, and the curtain is removed from the Ark. The cantor leads the prayers in a low, mournful voice. This is to remind us of the Divine Presence which departed from the Temple.  Interestingly, on Sunday, a stone weighing 220 pounds fell from the Western Wall while women were praying nearby. Miraculously no one was hurt from the falling stone. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat said “a great miracle occurred this morning when the stone, weighing some 100 kilos, fell near a praying woman and did not harm her.”  The stone that fell is one of the original stones used by King Herod to build the Western retaining wall of the Temple Mount back in 19 BC, about 2000 years ago.  The original Second Temple was built by Jews returning from Babylonian exile in 516 BC. King Herod thought that the Second Temple was too small, so he built four retaining walls around Mount Moriah to then refurbish and rebuild a magnificent, huge, Second Temple structure on top of the Mount. What is known today as the Western Wall (or Wailing Wall), is the Western wall of the four retaining walls that King Herod built to hold the new rebuilt Second Temple.

The rabbi of the main Western Wall plaza called for public “soul searching” after the incident. “This is an unusual and most rare incident that has not occurred for decades,” said Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch. “The fact that this powerful incident happened a day after the 9th of Av fast, in which we mourned the destruction of our temples, raises doubts and questions which the human soul is too small to contain, and requires soul-searching.”  May the nation of Israel turn to the LORD God of Israel to wait upon Him and seek His face, and may they be as a light to the nations. And may we – the church – rise up and be counted as we are also called ‘to be a light’ (Matthew 5:14). 

ERDOGAN: HITLER’S SPIRIT LIVES IN ISRAEL NATION-STATE LAW

Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan said this week that “Israel’s Nation-State Law legitimizes oppression and shows that Israel is a fascist and racist country where the spirit of Adolf Hitler has re-emerged”.  Erdogan, speaking on Tuesday to members of his ruling AK Party in parliament, said the law shows Israel is “the most Zionist, fascist and racist country in the world,” and called on the international community to mobilise against Israel.  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by saying that under Erdogan, Turkey was turning into a “dark dictatorship,” accusing the Turkish president of “massacring Syrians and Kurds.”  Other Israeli officials also responded harshly to Erdogan’s claims. “The State of Israel will not accept morality lectures from a dictator who hunts down and murders members of the Kurdish minority in his country and elsewhere,” said Education Minister Naftali Bennett.  However, many nations and many media reports have labeled Israel’s ‘New Jewish State Law’ as very “controversial”.  The UK Guardian reported that “The European Union has led a chorus of criticism after Israel passed a controversial law declaring that only Jews have the right of self-determination in the country. Adding that the legislation would complicate a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, the EU joined Israeli Arab political leaders and liberal Jewish groups in the US in flagging up concern, with some saying the law amounted to “apartheid”.”  But is this really the case?

The State of Israel has always had Hebrew as its national language. Many Christians and Jews believe this was a fulfilment of an old prophesy in Zephaniah where we read, “At that time I will change the speech of My returning people to pure Hebrew so that all can worship together." (Zephaniah 3:9 - Living Bible).  Without doubt, Hebrew has become a living language again, after being dormant for nearly 2,000 years (previously it was just used for religious purposes, a bit like Latin in the Roman Catholic church). The language was revived largely by one man, Eliezer Ben Yehuda.

As mentioned, regarding the language of the State of Israel, Hebrew has always been the main language; however Hebrew, Arabic and English are seen on all the sign posts and road signs etc.  Try driving in an Islamic Arab country and expect this! The alleged “controversial Jewish nation-state bill” doesn’t make much difference at all, but naturally, the ‘Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) supporters and Palestinian Solidarity groups will not care as it gives them more ammunition irrespective to the truth.  Regarding the national language however, in essence, could it not be similar to the UK?  After all, we have lots of languages – just look on the retail consumer items and especially within the NHS and one will see Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Chinese, Turkish, etc. etc. but the language of Britain is English. Does that make the UK an “apartheid state” because our national language is English? Of course not!

What follows is the final version of the bill approved by the Knesset plenary:

Basic principles: A) The land of Israel is the historical homeland of the Jewish people, in which the State of Israel was established. B) The State of Israel is the national home of the Jewish people, in which it fulfills its natural, cultural, religious and historical right to self-determination. C) The right to exercise national self-determination in the State of Israel is unique to the Jewish people.  

The symbols of the state: A) The name of the state is “Israel.” B) The state flag is white with two blue stripes near the edges and a blue Star of David in the centre. C) The state emblem is a seven-branched menorah with olive leaves on both sides and the word “Israel” beneath it. D) The state anthem is “Hatikvah.” E) Details regarding state symbols will be determined by the law. 

The capital of the state: Jerusalem, complete and united, is the capital of Israel.

Language: A) The state’s language is Hebrew. B) The Arabic language has a special status in the state; Regulating the use of Arabic in state institutions or by them will be set in law. C) This clause does not harm the status given to the Arabic language before this law came into effect.  

Ingathering of the exiles: The state will be open for Jewish immigration and the ingathering of exiles.

Connection to the Jewish people: A) The state will strive to ensure the safety of the members of the Jewish people in trouble or in captivity due to the fact of their Jewishness or their citizenship. B) The state shall act within the Diaspora to strengthen the affinity between the state and members of the Jewish people. C) The state shall act to preserve the cultural, historical and religious heritage of the Jewish people among Jews in the Diaspora.

Jewish settlement: The state views the development of Jewish settlement as a national value and will act to encourage and promote its establishment and consolidation. 

Official calendar: The Hebrew calendar is the official calendar of the state and alongside it the Gregorian calendar will be used as an official calendar. Use of the Hebrew calendar and the Gregorian calendar will be determined by law.

Independence Day and memorial days: A) Independence Day is the official national holiday of the state. B) Memorial Day for the Fallen in Israel’s Wars and Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day are official memorial days of the State.

Days of rest and Sabbath: The Sabbath and the festivals of Israel are the established days of rest in the state; Non-Jews have a right to maintain days of rest on their Sabbaths and festivals; Details of this issue will be determined by law.

Immutability: This Basic Law shall not be amended, unless by another Basic Law passed by a majority of Knesset members.

So really, Israel’s new law doesn’t change much at all, and calls of “apartheid” are way off base. I can’t believe the enormous fuss it created within Israel and in many nations. The law changes virtually nothing about life in Israel because Israel has, from the moment it was born, been a Jewish state. Indeed, when David Ben-Gurion, the country’s first prime minister, read the country’s Declaration of Independence in Tel Aviv on May 14, 1948, he said that those assembled to ratify the document “hereby declare the establishment of a Jewish state in the land of Israel, to be known as the state of Israel.” 

The problem is that, 70 years after its founding, the fundamental principles that led to Israel’s creation are still controversial among those who oppose its very existence.  Whether the law needed to be passed now is another issue, but the charges of racism or apartheid are out of order and false. Unlike every other nation in the region, Israel remains a democracy, in which all of its citizens have equal rights under the law. These include voting rights and representation in the country’s parliament, the Knesset. Many Arabs and minorities serve in government, particularly in judicial and diplomatic posts.  Like all other countries, including democracies, Israel isn’t perfect. But the tension that stems from this situation has been exacerbated by the fact that their Arab and Muslim neighbours have been seeking to destroy Israel since the day of its rebirth.

ISRAEL TO THE RESCUE AGAIN

As you may have seen on the BBC News, the Israel Defence Force (IDF) carried out a special and extensive humanitarian aid operation in the 210th Division to rescue the members of the “White Helmets” humanitarian organisation, whose lives were in danger, from the war zone in southern Syrian, and transfer them to a neighbouring country.

The White Helmet aid workers were risking their lives to save others, and now they have to flee themselves. This is indicative of the situation in Southern Syria where the Assad regime and its Iranian and Russian allies are reconquering the rebel held areas. Now activists who have worked in the rebel-areas are running for their lives.

ISRAELIS SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES OF LIVING UNDER HAMAS TERROR

Since April 2018, arson terrorism has caused thousands of fires in agricultural fields adjacent to the Gaza Strip. Israel has suffered more than 400 rocket attacks in the past month. Here, Israelis speak up about the constant terror on the Gaza border – terror that affects both Jewish and Arab Israelis. They all suffer the consequences, and sadly there are no winners on the Israeli side. However you may be surprised at their opinions and comments.  Eddy Plonsky, a dairy farmer working on Kibbutz Or Ha Ner near the Gaza border states, “I don't hate them, I hate what they are doing.”Another farmer from Kibbutz Nir Am, Ofer Liberman states, “We want peace. From our point of view, we would prefer to live as good neighbours and work our fields together.”  Another Israeli interviewed was Karen Halperin, a mother living in Kibbutz Bror Havil. She states, “When I run with my children at night to the shelter, I think of the mother in Gaza on the other side of the fence. Her child is scared as well. We are trying to raise a generation that will not hate. But you can't love those who try to hurt you... and frighten you... and you're scared.”

Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza launched more than 200 rockets at Israel just last weekend. Israelis near the Gaza border had to spend the night in bomb shelters as the Israeli army (IDF) told them to remain no further away than a 15 second run from the bomb shelters.
