you know there’s a specific kind of horror to sidestep not being Broken, but being Changed in some way. there’s obvious reasons to break, but to change is something else.

change raises questions of why? why were they changed? what is the intended outcome of the change? what specifically was done to incite the change? there’s horror in being changed to someone’s idea of how someone should act/what their personality should be; who they are as defined by someone else. existence dictated by someone else, and furthermore to wonder and live in a way as such to wonder if what came before was “who they are” or what here now is truly the reality.

#i know the game deals w this a lot already but it really Scratched My Brain #bc sidestep is already a construct—the person behind the persona of sidestep and sidestep as the title #both are fabrications. both are changed #one by sidestep’s own hands and the other by outside forces #the horror of being changed once by heartbreak and the horror that lies in the further changes by the farm #how does sidestep define existence on human terms when such things do not belong to them #have they been changed to more resemble the horrors of living as a human #or further isolated into the separate horror of a lack of existence #im thinking too about humans pack bonding with nearly anything #and deep deep down regenes started from somewhere. there was a basis of them #created by human hands. defined by humanity bc that is the only perception humans have of defining the world #in a way then deep down sidestep holds some small spark of humanity #I could say more but y’all gotta wait a month and then I’ll have brainrot again #fallen hero
