đ Puddle Ducks (Dabblers)
Puddle ducks, also known as dabblers , are masters of shallow wetlands and flooded woodlands:
Feeding Behavior : They feed by tipping up at the surface, keeping their heads underwater while their tails stick up.
Habitats : Commonly found in marshes, weedy bays, and shallow wetlands.
Physical Traits : With mid-body legs , theyâre quick to take flight when startled.
Species Highlights : Look for vibrant colors and distinct markings on species like mallards and northern pintails .
These ducks are often easier to spot and hunt due to their preference for shallow waters and open areas.
đ Diving Ducks
Diving ducks are built for life in deeper waters, showcasing remarkable adaptations:
Feeding Behavior : They dive underwater to forage, using their streamlined bodies to navigate efficiently.
Habitats : Found in deep lakes, reservoirs, large river pools, and coastal bays.
Physical Traits : Their rear-set legs make them excellent swimmers but slower to take off compared to puddle ducks.
Species Highlights : Keep an eye out for species like canvasbacks and redheads , known for their sleek profiles and vibrant plumage.
Diving ducks require hunters to adapt their strategies for deeper waters and more challenging shots.
đ Hunting Responsibly
Hunting ducks responsibly ensures sustainable populations and healthy ecosystems:
Know the Regulations : Adhere to species-specific seasons and bag limits to support conservation efforts.
Identify Species Accurately : Mistaking one duck for another can lead to legal issues and harm conservation goals.
Support Conservation : Your participation directly funds habitat restoration and protection projects.
By following these guidelines, hunters play a vital role in preserving waterfowl populations for future generations.

What I like about tis the damn season is that Dorotheaâs kind of...mean? Or sheâs testing her boo. Like she opens the song essentially telling them to shut up. Then that âremember how you watched me leave?â itâs kind of prodding at the wound. âI did that. I hurt you. Remember?â BUT, at the same time, and what makes it magical, is that sheâs also incredibly tender and lonely under that idc façade. She immediately follows it up by saying she wants them. Sheâs actually a tender and loving person whoâs annoyed at herself for being soft, and she canât admit she wants a BCWF (booty call with feelings) without sort of mocking herself and everything. Anyways.

The combined impacts of habitat destruction, fisheries management and climate change on the Fraser River are at their most damaging point since the Outdoor Recreation Council began compiling data 40 years ago.
Steelhead runs in the largest tributaries of the Fraser are on the brink of extinction. The spawning population in the Thompson watershed is estimated to be 86 fish, according to a recent update from the ministry of forests, lands and natural resources. The Chilcotin watershed has only 39 steelhead likely to spawn.
Non-selective net fishing for salmon is undercutting conservation and habitat restoration efforts intended to save the Fraser River steelhead from blinking out of existence, said Mark Angelo, chairman of the 100,000-member ORC.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) has employed ârolling closuresâ of commercial and First Nations salmon fisheries that suspend fishing in areas where most of the steelhead pass as they leave the Pacific Ocean and enter the Fraser River.
âThe model they used to rationalize opening the pink and chum fisheries this year was the same model that was found to be scientifically unsound during the Species at Risk Act peer review process,â said Jesse Zeman, spokesman for the B.C. Wildlife Federation.
The federal government has resisted listing the steelhead under the Species at Risk Act for years, he said. A listing would likely curtail some commercial salmon fishing.
B.C.âs environment ministry has been jousting with DFO for a year over changes made to a scientific assessment that could have led to stronger protections for steelhead.
How it happened remains a mystery.
When the BCWF filed a Freedom of Information request to learn how the scientific assessment was altered and by whom, the federal government said it would take 822 years to retrieve the documents. A second, less ambitious request was submitted, which the government now says will take 510 days beyond the statutory limit of 30 days typically allowed for processing such a request.

I wrote about the Imago Dei the link is the bio. This was hard to write âAfter reading BCWFâs list, I had one more reason to add, reason #17. White Jesus. The idolatry of the European Race, a graven image of supremacy. White Jesus goes against scripture. Once the church decided God had form and color, it did what Moses warned against. The Church chose their agenda over Godâs word. White Jesus allows for the undervaluing of other races and nationalities . Itâs why early missionaries felt is was okay to say the only freedom valuable was freedom in Christ to slaves. It is why the KKK can label themselves a Christian organization. It is why why 82% of white evangelicals thought it was okay to vote for Donald Trump and say it was God. A white God would always prefer a corrupt white man over a seemingly moral Black man. A white Jesus allowed for Hitler to convince people there was a such thing as a pure race. That it was okay to exterminate Jews, blacks, LGBTQ and the diasabled, while playing hymns, because they were tainted humanity. It is why no one batted and eye when the created internment camp for Japanese Americans. They didnât round up Germans. It is why the Chinese Exclusion Act was created May 6, 1882. Jim Crow laws, the Zoot Suit Riots, the Charlotte 9. It was why on February 23, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery was hunted and gunned down for jogging while black. White Jesus allowed two white men believe that they had the authority to take a manâs life because he didnât belong in their neighborhood. It is exhausting being Black in the USA.It is exhausting always having to say humanity is frail and broken. Godâs joy is supposed to be my strength but it is overwhelming to have to continue fight against the messaging of White Jesus in the USA. I can only pray God reverses the damage created through the idolatry of a white God and Jesus. I can only pray that we remove all images of God and Jesus from churches globally and we get back the true understanding of Iamgo Dei.â #linkinbio #ahmaudarbery #jesus #whitejesus #faith #blacklivesmatter #whitesupremacy #writing #writersofinstagram #writingwithms #msstrong #multiplesclerosis https://www.instagram.com/p/B_5MNa_Hqhx/?igshid=1jtjy80aubxdw

NDP leader takes aim at B.C. grizzly bear trophy hunt
B.C. NDP Leader John Horgan has handled one of their most divisive wildlife issues in the state by promising his administration will end the prize grizzly bear hunt if elected next spring.
Hoping to win broad support for a policy which could possibly be a tough sell in rural ridings, Mr. Horgan is proposing to make it illegal to kill a grizzly for its head and mask, but legal to shoot one for its meat.
âIt is not about being compared to hunting. It is about being in relation to this grizzly bear trophy hunt and only the grizzly bear trophy hunt,â Mr. Horgan said in a press conference on Thursday.
He admitted that if hunting grizzly bears to get food is permitted, trophy hunting may continue, because folks may be able to go around the ban with the bear meat house.
But he said regulations could make such abuse unlikely.
Meanwhile, the New Democrats banned grizzly hunting if they were in government in 2000, but dropped support in rural ridings. The Liberals swept to power in the 2001 election and finished the ban.
Mr. Horgan said he believes that a beautifully crafted ban on the trophy hunt would have broad support, including one of hunters.
âThe people of British Columbia are in relation to this trophy hunt of grizzly bears. That has been made abundantly evident in poll after poll after poll,â he said. âI think as we go into another election, it is important the people of British Columbia realize that New Democrats stand against the hunting of grizzly bears to get charms.â
But Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations Minister Steve Thomson rejected the NDP program, saying it is not feasible and is not based on wildlife science.
âThe problem with this is it is the NDP trying to be everything to all people. Iâm not sure how they manage a procedure where they call for a ban on trophy hunting and continue to allow hunting [to get meat,â he said. âIt is sort of a hollow promise. In reality, thereâll be several opportunities for the hunt to last.â
He said that the Liberals will continue to allow trophy hunting in areas in which the bear population is wholesome.
Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver said the NDP didnât support him if he proposed laws to limit the trophy hunt by demanding all of hunters to execute the meat once they destroy a bear.
âIâm grateful they have reproduced what Iâve completed, but where were they pulled in that private members bill a couple of years ago?â He inquired.
Mr. Weaver said if his bill was adopted, then it would have effectively finished the trophy hunt, because few people are thinking about grizzly bear meat.
Jesse Zeman, a schedule supervisor of this B.C. Wildlife Federation, said hunters who shoot grizzly bears for food should be permitted to continue.
âIt is good,â he said of bear meat.
He said that the BCWF, that represents about 50,000 hunters and anglers, supports demanding hunters to keep the meat of animals they shoot.
Ian McAllister, executive director of the conservation group Pacific Wild, called the NDP proposal âa step in the perfect directionâ because it targets trophy hunting.
But he stated letting bears to be hunted for their meat has been a error.
âWe think this is just a loophole to keep the prize hunt under the guise of food hunting,â he said.
Scott Ellis, executive director of the Guide Outfitters Association of B.C., said that the NDP strategy is not based on scientific wildlife management.
âWe are disgusted when politics gets [priority] above mathematics,â he said.
Mr. Ellisâs organization represents hunting guides, lots of whom offer a prize grizzly hunt for about $14,000.
Grand Chief Stewart Phillip of the Union of all B.C. Indian Chiefs mentioned that the NDP is doing the ideal thing.
âItâs barbaric simply to shoot an animal for the head,â he said.
B.C. has a estimated 15,000 grizzly bears. Hunters kill about 250 a year.
Joe Foy, a manager of the Wilderness Committee, praised the NDP coverage, saying tens of thousands of bears have been taken since the Liberals raised the hunting ban.

đ Carnivores: The Apex Predators of the Wild | Understanding Their Role in Hunting and Ecosystems
Carnivores are the ultimate hunters of the animal kingdom, equipped with sharp teeth and powerful instincts designed for cutting, shearing, and devouring meat. From the stealthy wolf to the cunning fox, these predators play a vital role in maintaining balanced ecosystems. But did you know that some carnivores, like the black bear, defy their classification by adopting omnivorous diets? Letâs dive into the fascinating world of carnivores, explore their unique adaptations, and uncover why understanding their behaviors is crucial for hunters and wildlife enthusiasts alike. Plus, weâll show you how BC Firearms Academy can help you prepare for your CORE Hunting exam with free study materials and expert training.
đ What Youâll Learn in This Video
0:00 - Introduction : Carnivoresâmeat-eating mammals with razor-sharp teeth.
0:03 - Examples of Carnivores : Wolves, coyotes, and foxesâthe kings of the wild.
0:15 - Black Bears: A Unique Case : Omnivores classified as carnivores.

đ Examples of Carnivores
Carnivores are apex predators that dominate their environments. Some iconic examples include:
Wolves : Highly intelligent pack hunters known for their teamwork and strategy.
Coyotes : Adaptable and resourceful, thriving in diverse habitats.
Foxes : Clever and stealthy, with a keen sense of hearing and smell.
These animals rely on their sharp teeth and keen instincts to hunt prey, making them essential players in the food chain.
đ Black Bears: A Unique Case
While black bears are classified as carnivores, they are actually omnivorous , meaning their diet consists of both meat and plants . Like humans, black bears have evolved to thrive on a varied diet:
Sharp teeth for cutting and consuming meat.
Flat-topped teeth for crushing vegetation, nuts, and berries.
This adaptability allows black bears to survive in a wide range of environments, from dense forests to open meadows.
đ Teeth Adaptations
The teeth of carnivores and omnivores tell a story of their dietary habits:
Sharp teeth along the jawline are designed for cutting and shearing meat.
Flat-topped teeth are perfect for grinding and crushing plant material.
Understanding these adaptations helps hunters identify feeding patterns and anticipate animal movements in the wild.
đ Importance for Hunters
Understanding the diets and behaviors of carnivores is essential for ethical hunting and wildlife management:
Recognizing feeding signs can help track animals and predict their movements.
Knowing which species are carnivores or omnivores ensures compliance with hunting regulations.
By studying these animals, hunters gain a deeper appreciation for the ecosystems they inhabit and the delicate balance they maintain.

đ Mastering Wildlife Identification: The Key to Ethical and Responsible Hunting in Canada
As a hunter, one of your most important responsibilities is accurately identifying wildlife species. Game species are grouped into four general categories: Big Game , Small Game , Upland Game Birds , and Migratory Birds . Knowing the differences between speciesâand even within speciesâis essential to ensuring ethical and legal hunting practices. Letâs break down everything you need to know about wildlife identification, bag limits, and how BC Firearms Academy can help you prepare for your CORE Hunting exam with free study materials and expert training.
đ What Youâll Learn in This Video
0:00 - Introduction : Why wildlife identification matters for hunters.
0:03 - Game Species Categories : Big Game, Small Game, Upland Game Birds, and Migratory Birds.
0:15 - Legal Seasons and Bag Limits : Understanding Wildlife Management Units and regulations.

0:45 - Free Study Materials : Links to BC Firearms Academyâs CORE Hunting resources.
1:00 - Call to Action : Start your CORE Hunting education today!
đ Game Species Categories
Wildlife species fall into four main categories:
Big Game : Includes deer, moose, bear, and other large animals.
Small Game : Think hare, rabbit, squirrel, and similar species.
Upland Game Birds : Grouse, wild turkey, and others fall into this category.
Migratory Birds (Waterfowl) : Ducks, geese, and other migratory birds are regulated under specific guidelines.
Each category has its own open seasons and bag limits , which are outlined in the BC Hunting Regulations Summary by Wildlife Management Units.
đ Legal Seasons and Bag Limits
Hunters must adhere to strict regulations to ensure sustainable wildlife populations:
Some species are protected and cannot be hunted at all.
Others are classified as game animals or birds and may only be hunted during their designated legal seasons .
Bag limits vary by speciesâknowing these limits is critical to staying compliant.
For example:
You may take five mallards daily but only one black duck .
Distinguishing between male toms and non-bearded hens in wild turkeys is essential to avoid illegal harvests.
These rules exist to protect wildlife and maintain healthy ecosystems for future generations.
đ Identifying Wildlife
Identifying wildlife accurately can be tricky, especially for species that look similar:
White-tailed deer and moose are easy to recognize, but hunters must also distinguish between calves and adults to avoid harvesting young animals.
Waterfowl identification is particularly challengingâyou must identify species âon the wingâ to ensure compliance with bag limits.
Practice makes perfect! Use study guides and quizzes to sharpen your skills before heading into the field.
