Hopefully I've remembered right and you were the one who occasionally posts about BDO. I just picked it up from Steam for like 4 bucks. Any tips for a beginner?

yup that's me. i recommend choosing a class that looks fun so that killing monsters is enjoyable rather than a chore. and definitely follow the main quest. the lore is forgettable but the quests help you get some gear and teach you core mechanics. explore the world at your own pace, but definitely explore. talk to any NPC with an icon above its head, find new areas, kill monsters, and do quests. if you want to try a lifeskill, look up a YouTube guide for some tips, and don't try to do everything all at once or you'll just get overwhelmed. black desert can be enjoyed casually or competitively, but the key is to have patience and go at a steady pace :)

Personal Finance Starter Kit

Today I found myself discussing savings, investments and personal finance to my batchmates. I realized that I was going on and on about it because I’m really passionate about educating people (especially young people) about this.

I want our generation to be smart about handling finances because millenials get a pretty bad rep when it comes to this topic.

Personally, I began learning about handling my finances when I started working part-time as an online tutor. I was earning my own money, and I wanted to put it to good use. I wanted to invest in stocks, so I gathered as much information about the stock market before I put my money into it. It didn’t take long for me to realize that even as an undergraduate student (with no business/finance background whatsoever), I can already make my money work for me. All it took was a little bit of patience, hard work and diligence.

So in today’s post, I want to highlight some helpful videos/reading materials to help people get started on their personal finance journey.

Disclaimer: I’m no expert/financial advisor. Consider this post as a helpful guide that will hopefully encourage you to seek even better (and more in depth) sources that can help you handle your finances.

1. Savings

-Tyrone Solee wrote this article about spending only what is left after setting aside your savings. He was also featured in this interview where he talks more about his saving habits. This ultimately led to his first million during his 20′s.

I am personally invested in stocks and different UITF instruments depending on the financial goals I set for each investment. These videos can help you plan out where best to place your money, so you can passively grow your money while simultaneously beating inflation.

Once you’re ready to get started, ask around in banks that you trust about their specific investment products. You don’t need a lot of money to get started. BDO’s Easy Investment Plan, for example, allows you to invest in UITF for as low as Php. 1,000 a month.

3. Stay Out of Debt, Get Rich and Be Generous

-Lastly, Dave Ramsey’s Baby Steps are pretty helpful since they aims to give people financial freedom. This is something we have to think about since we’re already part of the working class, and we’ll be future homeowners and parents. It’s nice to be financially ready when the time comes for us to pick up some more responsibility. 

-His radio show is also pretty fun to watch since you get a glimpse of how he helps other people with their financial struggles.

-What I like about Dave Ramsey is that he encourages generosity. I admire his mindset because it is my belief too that the more you have, the more you are at a position to give. So I believe it is okay to let your money grow and to aim to be rich just as long as it comes hand in hand with a desire to be generous. Just like what good financial advisors always say, money itself is neutral. It is the love of money that is evil.

4. Don’t Forget to Ask For Help!

-In my own personal finance journey, I made sure to consult with people who know more than I do like my parents or financially savvy friends. I encourage you to do the same. Ask around and allow the people you trust to help you grow your money.
