I need to write this because I need to get it out of my system and idk maybe after this ill stop lurking and start posting crap

this is a very rough draft of how i would re write the first ep of nexo knights prometed by @spicyicymeloncat s post talking about creating said re write. this is not a fully fleshed out story or even a good draft, it is simply me putting my ideas into text format. sorry in adanvance to anyone thinking this might be full fic or something of value, its just the keyboard smash of my thoughts.

So heres my shitty rendition of the first episode Okay first episode starts off following the main 5 including jestro in their 7th year at the academy (in this version there are 10 years of classes, and the first years are 10 yr olds) in the middle of a tournament battle. They end up losing cause jestro tripped or something and then Lance starts complaining about how this is their 3rd lost in a row and that jestro needs to start improving (in my mind he only really participates in the tournaments because his parents force him to, but it hurts his pride to lose). Clay of course starts defending jestro saying that he just needs more time to improve while jestro kinda just stands in the back looking embarrassed. Clay talks about how they have to better learn how to work as a team or something dumb like that and lance being the little bitch he is takes this personally. However, macy calms them both down before the situation escalates. then bells rings as lance and aarron are the first to leave and while axl follows them he gives jestro a pat on the back saying he did good and not to worry about it (I want axl to be more than just the one that eats a lot so hes very kind in my mind au). clay, macy, and jestro leave soon after and walk to some kind of ap class. On the way clay tries to comfort jestro after their loss (I want their friendship to be expaned upon more [it wont happen in the first episode, in my mind its mainly done by flashbacks. Think like zukos childhood is only talked about briefly or partly shown in flashbacks]) macy only butting in to mention that lance was being rude (macy for the most part is going to be similar to her show counterpart but im going to try to make her more mature because shes a bit whiny in the show imo). Once they make it class clay and macy say their goodbyes because jestro didn’t get the grades to make it into any type of ap classes so he kinda just roams the halls (the teachers don’t really like him, so they never took the time to properly fix his schedule). After a while he makes it to merloks library and merlok asks if he wants to practice some magic since he knows jestro doesn’t have classes. Jestro agrees and he start practicing a levitation spell on some pens with a wand merlok gave him. he struggles to control the pen, it either staying on the desk or flies up hirer then what he intended. Merlok doesn’t get mad though (mentor figure OoO more likely than you think) and just say that he should take a break and ask him about how his time as the royal jester is going. They talk for a bit before merlok has to leave to get something, but he says that he’ll be back. Jestro is just sitting there when he hears something (ya know who it is it’s your favorite necromancer) telling him to move closer to the book that is clearly sealed away before a magical barrier at the back of the room.

As soon as jestro gets to book, monstrox does the classic acting like hes not alive then going ‘boo’. This of course scares the crap out of jestro because imagen you start hearing a voice, thinking your going crazy, then this book behind a barrier fucking jumps scares you. Monstrox starts calming jestro saying some bs that hes one of merloks old friends before he and merlok got into a big fight and he cursed him to be a book filled with the worst kind of monsters for the rest of eternity. Jestro of course after hearing this is scared of monstrox (or the BOM or whatever you wanna call this man, book?) but mr necromancer over here starts telling his super sad 100% real backstory about how he was a screw up just like jestro and when he finally got good at something, that something being magic, he was shunned by the other wizards for not doing it the ‘right way’ (no it was because you were killing people ya crusty old textbook). Jestro despite sympathizing with him is still hesitant to listen to him so monstrox tells him that he can release him whenever he wants and that he’ll help him become respect and loved by his peer by taking over the kingdom. Monstrox then goes to ‘sleep’ as soon as merlok returns, jestro doesn’t say anything because a part of him is seriously considering siding with the BOM so he continues with his lessons with merlok. Do a montoage of the next couple of days of lance and some other students giving jestro shit until one day after lance was extra rude jestro is like ‘fine im going back to that crusty musty textbook and turning to the dark side’. Jestro, after merlok had finished his teaching and left the libary, manages to get monstrox out of his prison and into a bag (he also steals a staff idk how to incorporate that into this terrible story so far). On his way he ends up running into some 9th years that stars bullying him, this gets rid of his doubts that maybe he shouldn’t do this, and that he should just give people a second chance to learn the error of their ways and gives them some vague ass threat. Monstrox, who can hear everything, does that ‘oh ho ho now these mf are just re-enforing all the toxic ideas I placed in this boy’s head’ smirk and stays quiet for the rest of the walk.

Cue transition to an empty classroom as jestro takes out monstrox and places him on a desk, monstrox asks if hes ready to do this. Jestro gives a very ‘omg this moment is so emotional’ yes. While this is happening merlok returns to his library because his old ass forgot his pen or smt and realizes jestro (who usually stays in there until his next class starts) isn’t there and theres noting in the barrier prison thing monstrox was in. he of course goes running down the halls trying to find both of them, but before he can get far he gets stuck in a crowd of students as the bell rings. In the middle of the crowd theres clay and macy looking for jestro clay saying its odd that he wasn’t outside their classroom waiting for them like he usually is while Aaron, lance, and axl are just trying to get to their next class. Clay and macy run into merlok and ask him if hes jestro and merlok not wanting to say that ‘oh yeah know just looking for the wizard serial killer that has actually been alive for the last 100 years in my library that just so happen magically escaped’ just says that hes also looking for jestro and the form a small group while looking for jestro. on their way they pass aaron, axl, and lance looking confused af to why merlok is running like a track star followed by a confused clay and macy. Aaron looking for an excuse to skip class also follows them which prompts axl and lance to go off running trying to follow him.

Now theres a very scared and worried 300 something year old wizard being followed by five teenagers running down the halls of the one of the most prestige’s schools in the kingdom looking for a jester, and in merloks case a necromancer. Meanwhile jestro is opening up monstrox to the first page after the table of context and trying to figure out what hes supposed to do. Monstrox is like ‘have you never summoned the dead? Dam this is going to be more work than I thought’ and just tells him to read aloud the text at the top of the page and to wave his staff around. As soon as jestro reads out the ancient text with all the confidence of a mouse stuck in a piece of Rigatoni, the bookkeeper and either burny or sparks (it doesn’t matter which just one of them big guys) appears in front of him and causes jestro to scream in fear (the bookkeeper is harmless ik but he doesn’t know that). As soon as jestro realizes ‘oh taking over the kingdom mean pulling out monsters that could possibly kill every student in this school’ clay, macy and the gang (merlok is looking in a different classroom rn) burst in. Clay and macy thinking jestro is in danger immediately try attacking the monster but as you can imagen, they aren’t doing much damage, while lance runs out the room screaming for merlok to save them with his awesome wizard powers (aaron and axl also join the fight). Cue fight scene, jestro being like ‘oh no don’t hurt them they’re my friends’ and ‘I didn’t mean for this to happen’, the BOM being like ‘they aren’t your friends, they never did anything to help you’, blah blah.

Then right about when the monster is going to give the final blow to clay, lance comes rushing in with merlok and merlok does some wizard spell think sending a beam of gold flying out from his staff hitting everyone in that room and sending jestro and the BOM flying out of the window (this is the part when the main 5 get infused with some plot magic, hence why theyre the only who can use the nexo powers, shoutout to @spicyicymeloncat for mentioning this idea. They’re the ones that came up with most of the original ideas like the knights still being in school, them being hit with the magic rays, jestro being merloks appretince, and so many more cool headcaons that you need to check out like pls they’re amazing). Okay the screen goes black for a sec and then boom macy is the first to come out of the rubble (hc: her parents had fancy pants train her for any possible terrorist attacks, revolutions, or crimes against the crown) and immediately starts looking for clay. Hes mostly fine and the others start waking up as well but then clay starts looking for merlok and picking up pieces of rubble. Then after moving a very large piece of celling, he finds merlok laying there dead. 0o0 *gasp* this will totally not be fixed by the next episode and episode one ends there

but this is just a very rough outline of how i would make the first ep, chapter, or part go and thats it, noting of substance

realisticly if i were to rewirte the whole story (which i might do in the same half-meme-half-writing style that this post was made in) i would make jestros turn to the darkside much longer, probaly taking in universe around half a year. that would also give me more time to expand upone each of the main 5 personalties and their reasons for becoming a knight. like just imagen instead of it being just a few seconds like described in the text, it would be months of jestros ecperince at the academy and finally taking up the BOM on his sugestion, not fully undertsanding the impact his actions could have on the kingdom until he gets his army of monsters.

again i wrote this because i wanted to get these ideas out of my mind and onto a word document and im sorry to this starved fandom that i wasn't able to provide a full story or even chapater of a show i know dam well could have been much more than just a ploy to sell legos.

again most of the actually good ideas come from @spicyicymeloncat and their post talking about a nexo knights re write. I guess this kinda my addtion to that post. if anyone that stubbles across this for some reason wants to use this a guide for a fanfic or any other type of fandom content be my guest! credit me ig?? idk how to do this ive never really posted anything before this

I'm kinda happy with how it came out, so I'm posting it here (as I don't have tiktok and my yt account is only for commenting under videos)

I really don’t like the “Balance between Good and Evil” trope. Derivatives like “Balance between Light and Darkness” is good, because “Light” and “Dark” can be interpreted in multiple ways, giving virtuous and negative qualities to both. “Balance between Law and Chaos” is similarly good, which is me letting my SMT nerd out and OSR if half of those games didn’t just define “Law” as “Good”. But “Balance between Good and Evil” always sounded really dumb, like the “what if we put half of the babies into woodchippers” meme but unironic and it’s also the premise of an entire work’s story and metaphysics.

Part of this is because, while “Law and Chaos” or “Light and Dark” or “Yin and Yang” have some room for interpretation (Is Law a peaceful community led by a just ruler or is it theocracy devoid of free will? Is Chaos a chill anarchist paradise or is it eternal war and space monsters?), “Good” and “Evil” are self-defined and very uncomplicated. Good is Good. Evil is Evil. This is fundamentally pretty cringe for numerous reasons. One, “Good” and “Evil” being cosmic forces implies that there is an objective morality in this universe. I have never in my life seen “objective morality” handled in a way that wasn’t really weird or shitty (it’s very apparent that early D&D considers “kill the orc babies so they don’t grow up evil” to be the morally correct, Good option, or at least Gygax did). Two, our opposing forces are “Good” and “Evil”. You couldn’t be more on-the-nose unless you outright have the good guys refer to themselves as “the good guys” and the bad guys refer to themselves as “the bad guys” in-universe. And third, combining elements of the previous two, it’s very easy to slip into self-justifying behavior or protagonist-centered morality with a set-up like this. “When they slaughter our soldiers, it’s abhorrent. When we wipe out the enemy troops, it’s heroic. When they torture our men, that’s vile. When we used enhanced interrogation techniques on their lieutenants, we’re just getting work done. When they try to kill all the elves, it’s genocide. When we kill all the orcs, it’s Good Triumphing Over Evil.”

But while “Good” and “Evil” is a bad dichotomy, let’s discuss the middle ground, Neutral. Neutral in regards to Law and Chaos means freedom and order, everyone has free will, but everyone follows the social contract and treats each other well. Neutral is the point of Yin and Yang, because neither are bad or good and it’s unbalance that’s destructive. But what does Neutral mean in regards to Good and Evil? Does it mean saving half of the orphans from the burning building and collapsing the roof on whoever’s left inside? Sending soldiers to save one city from Goblin Attack but then doing your best to prevent anyone from saving the second city because we’ve filled up our life-saving quota today? Petting a kitty but then punting a puppy over a fence? Being Good but also being kind of a grumpy prick about it? What are its motives, its foundations? “Does Good acts and balances them out with Evil acts or vice versa” describes either a mentally unwell person or an Evil one, the same way “randomly switches between being Lawful and being Chaotic” actually just describes Chaotic. Furthermore, “Good is Good, but Evil has to exist or flourish to some extent because uhhhhhhhhhhhh“ is stupid no matter how you slice it. Even putting aside the fact that this sounds EXACTLY like something an Evil person would say while they’re currently losing, allowing the world to become an objectively worse place to live in out of some sense of fairness or neutrality-for-its-own-sake is heinous. There’s no reason, really, and to be Neutral in this regard is to allow the world to become objectively worse through action or inaction, which is indistinguishable from Evil.

You could make political commentary out of this! No, don’t.

Finally, and in addition to the above, part of what makes Law vs. Chaos so cool is that you can side with any of Law, Neutral, or Chaos, and it can be good or it can be bad. Law is security and tyranny. Chaos is freedom and eternal conquest. Neutral is balance but it delays the inevitable cosmic clash of Law vs. Chaos. Good/Neutral/Evil is completely asymmetrical. A world of Evil would just be a horrible nightmare world, if not the end of the world. A world of Neutral has evil in it for poorly explained reasons. Meanwhile there’s no downsides to a world of Good. “But if Evil is eliminated, then Good will turn on itself in the belief that people aren’t being Good enough” I hear you say, to which I retort that persecuting other people for petty reasons isn’t Good, it’s Evil. “But Evil had to be contained, if it’s destroyed then a greater Evil will take its place” isn’t a problem with Good either, it’s a problem of Evil reappearing. The worst you can say about Good is that it always has to defend itself against the forces of Evil, but acting like Good taking over will lead to a dystopia because Good taken too far is just as bad as Evil is some “I’m 14 and this is deep” stuff.

Speaking of fics, I always see these posts about people complaining that writers are ‘wrong’ or that ‘ wRiTorS sHoUlDnT dO iT liKe tHis’?..

It’s fanfiction.. let me simplify it more, it’s fiction, allowing you to write whatever it is you want to write. why are some people triggered and won’t let others have other ideas and opinions ? Especially when we receive it for free and a lot of people enjoy it, but there has to be that one bug spoiling the milk, totally miss the point of fanfic and spreading negativity, disturbing everyone peace.

:/ I’m afraid I’ll get the same rude attitude towards whatever I write in the future, thought the fandom is welcoming and nice but that’s changing within each day I spend interacting with the people in it.

Oh dude nothing makes me cringe more. I try to be polite to people even when they have headcanons that I either disagree with or just don’t personally like, but like - it’s all good! It’s literally fake. Everything we’re writing about wouldn’t happen if these characters were real. OBVIOUSLY.

It literally makes my skin crawl when people get up in arms about how characters should be written or things they perceive as wrong in other fics/headcanons. The most I’ll ever do is quietly and privately like roll my eyes at smt I don’t like. Typically I just don’t engage with it at all if I’m not a fan.

Anyway I hope when you do write, you just ignore/block anyone you come across that acts that way. It has no bearing on real life and it just serves to make you feel uncomfortable/unwanted in a space. If you like what you’re creating, that’s all that matters.

Okay, time for your daily dose of wattpad drama

There was a person who dropped a random spoiler into my comment section. It had nothing to do with the book or fandom. It was a random, unprompted spoiler with the name of the show attached to it. So I was like ‘hey, you know that’s a spoiler right”

And they said yes lol

You do realize you just could have spoiled a show I wanted to watch, right?

“What’s the big deal spoilers are inevitable? Several plot points for the shown are all over articles---” Etc

Anyway, this went on for a while, since I was trying to convince them it was a crappy thing to do, since I have my comments on so I can reply to questions about the story. If they had said, oh, sorry, that would’ve been the end of it. 

But no, no, that couldnt be the end of it. Time went on, and they twisted my words “Go ahead, call me an asshole to my face. I dont care”

Even though I never once called them that, instead referring to a kid I went to school with who spoiled endgame because he’s an asshole. More comments, and more of them acting like they’re not at fault, that people ‘don’t mind spoilers because they enjoy the shows more’ and ‘i didn’t know you watch the show’

I don’t but I was planning to and you spoiled a big plot point.

Anyway, time skip to this morning because I muted them and deleted the comments last night so I wouldn’t have to deal with them anymore. Now this is where the drama comes in. This person has a habit of, if they mute me i make a post about it.

Samples include: This person just came at me all posh and whatever cause I called their portrayal of Zoë Nightshade OOC. She was also OOC for no reason whatsoever. I get it if she's like that because of some background story or smt but not without reason. It just seems like a bad writer to me and they're just coming up with excuses.

So…aparrently I offended someone because of something petty. This Wattpad user muted me cause I did something they didn't like (pretty sure they're a 'she' cause her profile description said 'lesbian' but I'm not assuming). I was reading one of their books and saw something interesting that wasn't canon. Something about demigods having golden specks in their blood. I was confused and curious. So naturally, I asked a question. Then this user who took people questioning them to a whole new level, muted me! (In referral to a person who has stated that they don’t like it when people do so and to please refrain from doing so)

And there’s also another one, but they drop the username of a twelve year old because they muted them for calling what they do annoying. But I’m not showing that one because again, child.

How does this factor in? Well, my dear dear children

Lmao this person petty af. They muted me after I ACCIDENTALLY spoiled something that I didn't even consider as a spoiler since the fanfic was unrelated to what I was talking about. I felt no need to apologise because of this and they acting to serious like I've commited a crime. Just get over it. There are worse problems to deal with than spoilers. Why so triggered?

I was replying back with no emotion whatsoever. It's hilarious at how angry they are and how long their comments were. I didn't even bother reading them.

Let’s break this down piece by piece. It is not an accidental spoiler when you drop a major plot point into an unrelated piece of media along with the name of what its from. They admitted that they put the name in there because people might not understand it, but the people who wouldn’t understand it would be people who haven’t seen the show or aren’t up to that part yet. 

The equivalent to this would be going to a random BnHA fanfic on Ao3 and saying *SPOILER FOR THE BARTIMEUS TRILOGY* I just finished reading Bartimaus being forced out of Nathaniel’s mind so he wouldn’t die too, In Ptolomy’s Gate! and then the (girl’s name) summons him at the end and it was so sad. 

*SPOILER OVER*

Even if it was an accidental spoiler, which  highly highly doubt considering they showed no surprise at it being a spoiler and literally said yes lol, it’s still a crappy thing to do. 

Next point: IT”S STILL A SPOILER EVEN IF ITS NOT RELATED TO THE FANFIC

Next: No need to apologize. Really? I straight up said I was planning to watch the the show and that I had avoided spoilers for years so I could watch it blind. And then they proceed to say ‘I didn’t know you watched the show” which again, i have not and now never will because my enjoyment of closely serialized shows hinges on not knowing what happens next. Soap operas are boring for me, and downright cringe worthy because they repeat the same plot points again and again. But then when they throw in a new plot (Or victor decides to be a good grandparent) I find myself enjoying it. Only for that to be yanked away if someone were to say, oh yeah x goes to jail for murder and then y breaks them out and they go live on an island somewhere. 

Also their reason for not apologizing is because people are still mad at you afterwards, also that it doesn’t change anything, but I share that so first part only. People are no obligated to forgive you just because you apologize. Sorry doesn’t wipe away their emotions and free will. Even if you don’t mean it sorry shows that you recognize you did something wrong. (Although I fall into a pit where my sincere apologies seem insincere which is not fun for me)

Since I can’t see the activity that led to the other things on their message board i can’t say what happened there, but based off of my own experience with them, I’m assuming they’ve twisted the narrative to suit their own needs. Which by the way, can be insanely damaging

I’ve had enough interaction on my account with people, and enough A/Ns for people to get the general vibe i give off, so this probably won’t be much of a problem for me. People fall into a false sense of security that wattpad is sunshine and rainbows because its mostly young teens on it, but there are plenty of jerks who will twist your words and reactions to fit their needs.

I finished Persona 5! It took me ~140 hours and I ended it at level 81, with about 70% compendium completion. I don’t know if I can say it beats P3 as my fave Persona just because P3 holds a special place in my heart, but it is probably a better game and I most certainly liked it more than P4. More in depth, spoilery discussion under the read more!

I beat the final boss primarily with Satan and Beelzebub, which felt really satisfying considering that I was using them to kill God. I also thought it was interesting that you literally use the seven deadly sins to defeat the final boss. I mean, it uses them to try and keep you down, but you in turn use them as your strength. I love the final boss for having battle mechanics that are ideologically significant, and everything taken together at the end, I think the game gives a very clear thesis. It reframes the seven deadly sins as seven core desires, and states that, even though they can lead to terrible things (ie the palace rulers who are all based on the sins themselves), we should be free to feel them, and that freedom is the most important thing. It’s a very American ideology, and for that reason I think P5 will probably resonate more strongly with a western audience than previous Persona games (the Bible belt notwithstanding, perhaps?). It’s also way cleaner and easier to play, which will help a lot.

I finished all but three confidants. The video game kid and Iwai I got to rank 9 and the fortune teller I got to rank 8. I probably could have finished them all if I focused on the fortune teller sooner since her abilities are so kickass, but she’s such a pain to get started. I also probably could have done Kawakami sooner to make the most of her abilities. The one I most regret not finishing is Iwai. I didn’t expect him to become such an awesome dad figure for the player. Oh yeah, and that’s one way P5 trumps P4: two cool dads instead of just one!

I ended up dating Hifumi. I liked her design, and I liked that she was willing to put herself at a disadvantage to do what’s right, which is something her and the protag have in common. Of course, my first choice was Ryuji, but alas, all teenage boys are straight I guess. I thought I would want to date Yusuke, but I ended up reading him as ace. Maybe I just wasn’t picking up on it, but nothing he said ever seemed like he was hitting on me. Protag and Akechi definitely had some tragic star-crossed lovers vibes, though. I thought about dating Futaba, but in the end she works better as a sister figure. In particular I didn’t want to interfere with her goal of being able to be okay on her own. I also see how Haru is a pretty good option, but I’m kind of turned off by how she’s the only one who has a strongly negative reaction to being turned down. Of course, I saw said reaction after already making the decision not to date her, and I can see how it could help someone’s argument that she is the best girl to date because she likes you more. Makoto was another girl I considered dating, mostly because I love a girl who can beat me up. I was not a big fan of how many adult women (four! four of them!) you are allowed to legitimately date. I don’t remember if there were any adults in P4 that were presented as date options the same way as the other characters. I only remember the nurse, who you can sleep with but not get romantically involved with, and IIRC she’s the devil arcana and the whole thing feels kind of intentionally shady. It seems like that was a gateway to just not caring at all about appropriate age differences. Thanks Persona! At least you can’t date Sae. When she comes up to you on Christmas I got really worried the game set that up for her to be a dating option, maybe just in case you hadn’t started dating anyone else yet by that point.

I like that the game is explicitly about social reform, and that it meaningfully discusses sexism and the Japanese justice system and how these things can be changed. At the same time, the game is shockingly tone deaf. Kamoshida treats Ann like a sexual object, and that’s bad, but somehow multiple anime shots panning over Ann’s boobs are fine? The maybe worst example is when they go to the beach (note: as soon as the beach was presented as a thing that exists I got ready to cringe. The beach is never fun in Persona) and the boys go off to get girls, because of course they do, and they approach and hit on a bunch of random girls, because who doesn’t want to be approached by a group of boys when you’re by yourself? And then when they fail they return to Makoto to see HER getting harassed by some dude, and when he finally leaves everyone agrees that he was a bad guy and what he was doing was shitty, with no self-awareness that that was what they were just doing to other girls. I can say, at least, that the sexism and fanservicey garbage seems to have been toned way down from the last two games. I can only hope this downward trend continues.

Of course, my biggest objection is to the two stereotypical gay dudes whose only traits are that they’re really into teenage boys and are really creepy about it. Nothing about their portrayal is okay, which should be really obvious to literally everyone.

The gameplay itself is really good this time around. I love the new dungeon designs, though I still love the randomly generated dungeon crawling as well and am glad the game has both. I also feel like I benefited a lot from having played not only P3 and P4 but also SMT Nocturne. I was really bad at P3 when I played it, and I thought I was pretty good at P4 but I’ve improved even more. I did not feel this powerful with this cool of a Persona set at the end of either of those games. Nocturne also made me appreciate how much more like SMT this game is compared to P3 and P4, particularly the last stretch of the game, as well as all the stuff around demon negotiation and whatnot. If you’re up for a more traditional RPG experience, I’d recommend playing Nocturne. You’ll appreciate P5 more for it.

In the end, I’d probably give P5 a 9/10. I think the series is (mostly) moving in the right direction, and I’m excited for P6, though I guess we won’t see it until they’re done milking the P5 cash cow. I wouldn’t mind a sequel starring Morgana, though. With the hints at the end about how if Morgana became a human he’d be a lot like protag, I can see Morgana achieving that dream and becoming a resident of the velvet room himself ala Aigis in The Answer.

Now that I’m done this long, long adventure I should take some time to do actual life stuff, but there are still more games on the horizon. I’m still not done Persona Q, though I am trucking along slowly but surely. I also have Tokyo Mirage Sessions waiting for me, and I can get SMT 1 on my phone, so I’d like to play that at some point, too.
